Friendly staff The shower was poor and not functioning properly
Friendly competent staff, value for money Room service food from the Oriental restaurant was very poor
The central location of the Hotel makes it easy to visit Sliema and Valetta, near to many shops or restaurants. The breakfast (continental buffet) served during our stay (nov 2010) was absolutely not at the level of the 5 stars of this hotel. No fresh juice, poor presentation of so-called fresh fruits (apples were brown, almost burned in their juice), whereas Malta has plenty of ressources to serve them al over the year. The real good stuff was the bread choice, but for a 14€ BF, it looks nevertheless very unsifficient for this class of hotel
We had a high floor room which meant a fantastic view over the city from our balcony. The Asian restaurant at the hotel tried to serve our food too quickly and one of our party suffered food poisoning
Design Hotel in the heart of Sliema, a little bit up the hill from the waterside promenade, great view from the higher floor rooms and the rooftop / rooftop pool. Their label of being a "design hotel" seems a bit overemphasized and can lead to certain excesses, some shortfalls with the breakfast. Cleanliness is not really a strength of all the Maltese Hotels in general.
Comfortable beds, good service There is a motion detector in the room, with a bright red light which shines if you move also at night. It keeps you awake.
very clean good quality nice people things that are not finished i.e. no movies or internet in the rooms
The bed was very comfortable and the staff were great. The hotel was obviously incomplete. The water pressure was inadequate, the room was not finished (building wise) and therefore not very clean. I would also suggest carpet in the bedrooms instead of tiling as this impacts on comfort. The facilities that were mentioned were also not available yet as the hotel is not finished. Definitely not up to 5 star standards.
The staff was efficient yet pleasant at all times. The wardrobe was not well designed. There was no place to hang long items. They use those hangers that are hooked to the bar. The bar went from front to back. Making use of the closet difficult. The furnishing were comfortable. But we had a junior suite with one easy chair and a desk chair ... and three ottomans! Another easy chair or sofa would have been more comfortable. There certainly was enough space. The room included a nice balcony overlooking the sea -- yet the be for some strange reason was placed so that one could not enjoy the view from the bed ... and given that there was only one easy chair ...! In regard to the question below about 'guest reviews' there weren't any the hotel only opened at the end of August 2007.
The staff was excellent! It was a really nice hotel, will definitely go back there.
Its location is excellent and the view from the balcony over the harbour is spectacular. Very convenient for everything. The breakfast was large. The good thing about this hotel is its location. Smoking is allowed in the bedrooms and our room smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel appears to be in a 60's/70's time warp and furniture and fittings reflect this. Also, although it was not cheap (Euro 100 per night) it had a very high proportion of young, backpacking guests, which was unexpected. On two of the three night we stayed there, there was no fresh fruit at breakfast.
Position in town of Sliema. Extreme friendliness of staff. Easy access to all services to visit all parts of island.
Location, in front of Sliema Sea, it's located in a very animated street with lots of cafés and terraces. Unfortunately, almost everything. Small elevators, a bedroom with accepts (alcatifa) (which is no longer used), very few light, very bad matresses (bad for your back) with no dais (estrado), no remote control for TV, bathroom with no bidet, just a small light, no water pressure in the bath and in the washing closet, poor breakfast and everywhere we go a bad smell of fried food mixed with mold (mofo) of a building and structure that has not followed tourism evolution and minimum conditions to be given to its clients. It seems Marina Hotel has stopped in time. Not to repeat, not to return, not to advise to anyone, that's for sure.
The room was very small, me and my cabin bagage and it was full. It seems to be a place not reformed since 80s, and it need it. Very old and cracked forniture and toilet. Breakfast options are very poor.
Leaving! Wasn't what i expected it to be for the money paid. No air con as stated it had. It was actually a heater, which wasn't a lot of use with temperatures around mid 30'sc. The room was very dirty ie. mucky walls, headboard on bed was black with dirt, torn stained matteress and furniture from the 1960's. I thought when i walked in the room i'd stepped into a cheap B & B in Blackpool. View from window was to a dirty courtyard which comprised of waste food, knives and forks, used condoms all thrown down on to the roof below and on courtyard. The breakfast offered on the B & B basis was only toast or cereal, very basic indeed. I paid extra for the hotel as it was supposedly in a good location. It was a huge dissapointment and i will never be wasting my money to go there again.
The reception staff were very helpful in terms of my questions, giving advice on how to go places around Malta. The big problem for me was Internet access: I couldn't get the wi-fi access that was advertised on the top floor of the hotel and the card system was very expensive (ie 3 euros for 75 minutes, 2 euros for 20 minutes, but was never for the full amount, always less). Moreover, the location wasn't ideal for me, as I was in Malta for work and had to go back to the capital Valletta to go anywhere. Next time I'll stay in Valletta as the surrounding district of Sliema is pretty run-down and there's not much to do, ie. no real beaches or historical sites to visit.
I liked the room, food and staff. I was made to feel very welcome no english channels on TV
Price, location, friendliness of staff, adapter plug rental, restaurants around. Water pressure Heating from above, a strong draft in the room, paper thin walls.
The front desk staff were always kind and helpful. They responded to my requests right away and gave me information I needed.
Excellent location, superb food/dining. Good, helpful staff. Good value for money Lousy WiFi - worst/slowest have ever experienced- used Burger Kings in hotel lobby! Did not like paying for use of minibar or safe - this was not made clear on website.
The view from the hotel was impressive. We stayed on the sixth floor. And of cause the location. The breakfast buffet was extremely boring.
The comfort and decor of the room were first class with a great balcony for relaxing. The breakfast buffet was rather limited. There could have been more fresh fruit, proper fruit juices and coffee. I would choose a room only option in future
Very polite staff, great room with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Swimming pool was closed (seasonal) and there was some construction noise due to expansion (but this is Malta-wide currently)
Close to all the action Not four star in my part of the world (2 1/2 or 3 star at best), air-conditioning went on and off from movement sensors in the room and sensors on the doors - never got cold, elevators had no logic whatsoever
la beauty farm
Great location. Away from noisy main roads but still close to everything. Restaurant food wasn't very good and the tablecloths were always dirty.
Location near ferries and buses, shops and restaurants; good for exploring and getting around. Short ferry ride to Valetta. Recommend Chop House at Tigne Point, Aroma restaurant (and others) in town. Basic price was ok but all else was too expensive. 25 Euros/day for wifi (lobby system does not work, made and saw several complaints). Recommended not to drink tap water, but bottle in room is 3 Euro (2 Euros for six 2 litre bottles in the shop next door). Breakfast > 11 Euros, walk to the front and pay less for a better selection.
We liked the Sliema location. It was 10 minute walk to the ferry to Valletta with a steep walk back which we did not mind this at all. The food served in the bar restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced with excellent service. Very helpful staff. The hotel has an English atmosphere which we found charming. The shop in the hotel had an excellent range of gifts, also reasonably priced. Although this hotel is not on the waterfront, we had views of the water from our balcony. There are a lot of restaurants and pubs near the hotel. Also a very easy walk to St Julians where there are heaps of restaurants. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Malta, which we intend to do, as it is such an interesting place. We found the airconditioning very warm, not only in our room but also in the bar.
very friendly and helpfull staff good, atmosphere plenty of characture. said large balcony which we paid exra for, which was misleading.
very friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable. Having its own car park was a definite bonus.
Comfortable bed, excellent cuisine, friendly helpful staff
The fee upgrade to a junior suite, the friendliness of the staff upon arrival The overall impression given by the hotel is not the one of a 5 stars, from the bed and furnitures of the room to the various common spaces and pools. It looks more like a 4 stars or a very good 3 stars.
Surrounded by buildings under contruction. No view at all.
Not enough pool. DIdn't like the area it was located near.
Suitable location, our room on the 10th floor facing the internal garten was quiet with comportable temperature without using any air conditioning Cleaningness of the pool, the pool area, toiletts and showers.
A very nice sea-side restaurant Paranga. The room really smells - that wet sort of smell embeded in the old sea-side hotels. Very annoying.
Comfortable and well equipped There were problems with interent connection, lack of access to TV channels and the air conditioning started leaking in the middle of the night.
Quiet at night even though in St. Julian's; View from the balcony is nice; Spacious rooms; Rooms need renovation; New towels need to be purchased as the ones available are already worn-out; Type of room whether twin or king should be clarified upon room reservation.
very clean and a good position none
Amazing property! Wonderful service and very delicious food at two hotel restaurants, I would absolutely stay here again! The staff was wonderful, some of the best service I have ever received and I travel all over the world!
The staff were trying very hard to make up for the short comings from the hotel facilities. The rooms had a smell of dampness and the location of the hotel was in the busiest night spot in Malta. You would probably enjoy this if you were a teenager, however at our age it was a bit too much to bear.
good gym facilites but it is not a 5 star hotel by international standards. room was not cleaned until 7.30 pm on one occassion and rest of stay usually after 3pm. did not replenish tea and coffee supplies had to ask ofr them each day. no hotel dressing gowns provided as stipulated in literature(telling of facilites) that was missing from room unitl 2 days before we left.
Nice pool They charge you every little thing such as business center without telling me that they have the charge for business center (right after I went to the business center to print my boarding pass they were trying to charge me for 5 euro plus paper) and they claimed that ice bucket was missing after we left hotel and flew back to New York. They charge us for that which we have never seen while we stayed there. They told us that they have inventory list before people come in but who steals the ice bucket? If we need one we don't take the used one. For me this was not the pleasant stay. I had to deal with the bill for the amenities which we had never had. I thought this is 5 star hotel but I would rather stayed 3 star hotel and didn't have to deal with all the burden after I left. Never stay here again.
Fantastic pool area with restaurant and bars. Wonderful service throughout the holiday.
Phenomenal harbour and sea view, excellent facilities (impressive location of the swimming pool and private beach for the hotel guests), good level room services, useful location within the city, comfortable and quiet rooms, and attentive and friendly staff. For a five-star I found it very surprising to find my minibar empty.
We liked everything - room, food, swimming pool, service
Perfect hotel. Special thanks to Nadine from front desk for patience and availability, without her we could have not rented a car.
How friendly and attentive the hotel staff were.
Beautiful Hotel with a great location, nice swimming pool and a nice selections of restaurants. Room had a terrible view and the carpet had some stains on it.
The hotel would have been fine - if it was a 3-star hotel. However, dinner at the Tiki Restaurant was fantastic. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, and service was mediocre - we waited over 30 minutes for our drinks from the poolside service. The buffet breakfast was included in our room price, but it was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. At the price, this is not a hotel i could recommend.
Proximity to bus terminal. Nice swimming pool. Very good restaurant. We had a nice stay in this hotel.
The location was good and the Spa was excellent. The staff were a little arrogant at times. I put this down to the hotel trying to maintain 5 star status.
Friendly, helpful staff with exactly the right balance of attitude - not stiff and formal, not too familiar. No complaints.
Everything, an extremely well run hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and attentive staff
Ther wasn't any tea or coffee making facilities in the room, I feel this is essential.
size of room size of balcony
Bayview Restaurant was buffet only which is a shame for the restaurant with the best views of all the hotels' restaurants
Location was very good. The poolarea was fantastic.
The view from our balcony, pool area, local amenities and the early evening live music played from the foyer balcony We were first shown a room at the front of the building, the balcony and view not as good as the room we moved to. To cater for all preferences it would be nice to have double rooms available at the front and back, and twin rooms available for business people front and back.
Large rooms. Very nice poolarea!! Good value for money. We got a good price trough booking.com The room was very dirty when we arrived. The hotel in general needs some upgrading.
fantastic friendly hospitality...definitely made up for shortcomings, very child friendly room rather small, in need of modernisation. Breakfast not 5-star
Opulant surroundings and quality of service from the staff corridors were not kept clean. Bath was in poor condition
This is my second time staying in the Corinthia St George,St Pauls Bay.. We had a very enjoyable week spent mostly sunbathing and swimming. The hotel buffet is very good. They have a nice gym and indoor pool which we used in the evenings.I like the Corinthia and hope to stay there on my next trip.
The room / suite was very comfortable The room was not ready when we arrived, even though we arrived well after allowed check in time.I had to call twice to get bathrobe. Heavy rain caused a leak in the ceiling.
Location in Sliema along the seaside promenade is very good. The rooms definetely need renovation. Beds are bad, fitted carpet not fresh, same for furniture. Storage for clothes not enough.
Nice breakfast - good selection. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Hotel is right across from the bus stop. Good buffet restaurant for dining in the evening after a long day of touring.
relaxing feeling , very operative staff , panoramic seeing nothing
Breakfast is good, indoor pool is very small (only 5x5 meters) but cosy, location is ok. This hotel is seriously overpriced! Don't trust the photos on the site - it's not a SPA. For the price of 4* hotel you receive a motel-like room, very used furniture, dirty towels and toilets, too old facilities, and bad view from window. This hotel would be ok for 35€ or 40€ per night, but now it does not worth the money.
The staff was very helpful and nice at the reception, at the bars, in the restaurant; the restaurant was clean and nice with a big variety of tasty meals, the service was excellent, the waiters and the cooks were very polite. The evening programmes in the Skyroom were also entertaining. No. I was really satisfied with everything.
lots of facilities our balcony did not get any sun except in the early morning the spa people were not very nice swimming pool was across the road
The sea view of the room
We like the location, in walking distance of restaurants, shops and harbour. It was comfortable and friendly. The restaurant was not brilliant for evening meals and the adjoining Italian restaurant was very expensive
Location, comfort, staff ... everything superb! We have spent a full week in a superior seeview suite of Hotel Preluna and enjoyed it very much. The fantastic friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is highly appreciated - Manuel, Ivanka, Desiree and the others at the front desk will never be forgotten ... Nothing missed, nothing disliked. Everything perfect.
Friendly Staff & location. After Hours accessibility was restrictive; an imposition on would be considerate customers, to return to hotel @ timely hours or risk inconveniencing the manager to wait up for your return. Note this is only my consideration since management never imposed any inconvenience restrictions to customers.
The hotel has an excellent location. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. All see view rooms have 180 degree see view and a great view of Valetta. Wide, miles long promanade along the shore line, lots of restaurants nearby, excellent public transportation, public swimming-pool (salt water) only a few steps from hotel..two tumbs up. English language TV channels. The same, very limited selection food for breakfast day after day, No internet access (there are cyber cafes near by).
Nice hotel for a low cost. Exellent location. Bus stop just outside. Breakfast could be better. Traffic noisy at seaside.
Excellent sea views. Clean hotel, staff helpful and friendly. Excellent location with bus stop right outside which makes travel around Malta easy. Breakfast basic but adequate. Superb value for money. We did see other bedrooms without a sea view that weren't as good as the one we had.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Not a luxury hotel but functional and clean. If you want to see Malta it is an excellent base. The breakfast was pretty limited even by European standards. Toast, ham and cheese and melon with cornflakes and muesili every morning
the location and the ease of getting everywhere else nothing
very good, cheap hotel and near the sea. I really like it.
hotel position and location + roof sun area (a) public restaurant right hand side very scruffy dirty tablecloths etc (b)restaurant lhs doorman attitude so poor we did not use - went to (a)
Close to both Sliema. Staff were friendly and room was clean. TV didn't work, toilet didn't flush and leaked.
It is a good place; the staff is very friendly and helpful and the price is very reasonable. Not anything in paticular
I enjoyed the location. Thank you AnnMarie for your "awesome service." Limited shuttle service to and from Valletta and Sliema, hint, people need transportation during the weekends. I would consider checking the temperature on your cold items that you serve for breakfest. The yougart I had was not cold at all, a breeding ground for bacteria growth and spoilage, and my tea kettle I had something floating in it. Paying attention to details will make the difference.
It is nice and good hotel in excellent location near good night life area, the room is good and has more enough space, comfortable bed and good bathroom. sometimes there are sounds from above as furniture movement.
Staff were very friendly and helpful Hotel is very big and making your way to the lobby from your room can take a while.
The hotel was directly on the coast with wonderful views. We had a good size room with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel was very convenient for public transport as well as for local shops and a choice of restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a very good choice for breakfast. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Just one or two points worth mentioning: the airconditioning system in the room worked well in the day but was largely ineffective during the night, resulting in a stuffy room. Disappointingly, breakfast was served in a rather cold marquee, which, admittedly we were there in October, but I think a greater effort could have been made to provide a larger indoor eating area. On the days when it was warm enough we could eat outside on the wonderful terrasse.
Pleasant room with a sea view and balcony which had sun most of the day. Room was clean, well maintained and comfortable. Ineffecient ventillation/air conditioning. Despite the fact it was autumn, the room was always too hot to sleep when I returned on an evening. The ventillation system was noisy. Due to mosquitos it was not practicable to leave the patio door open.
The comfort and facilites are what you would expect from a 5 star establishment. The location is perfect. Just a short walk around the bay to where the action is, clubs pubs restaurants etc, but far enough that there was no passing traffic or disturbance. Full choice of breakfast, English or continental All rooms have a sea view, some better than others, ours was fine! Our room was close to the lobby area. Guests arriving late could keep you awake. some of the facilites spa and indoor pool were located in the sister hotel next door, probably why the Marina's rates are less
As someone who likes to hop around hotels I ended up staying here for a night. The adjacent hotel, that guest have access to, has a very nice pool area and the staff at both hotels are very accommodating. As someone that jumped around a lot of hotels in St Julian's I can assure you this is not the one that you will get the most bang for your buck. It is old, the exterior and interior need to be redone and the pool area for the hotel is ok at best, having a tiny pool, smaller than typical ones in your backyard. If the price is similar stay at the Radisson or if you don't need a resort stay at the Argento.
Good breakfast selection and location (over looking St Julians Bay). Access to sunbeds and private section of sea. No, all in all decent value for money; it was my fifth stay at the hotel.
Reception staff were very nice Room stunk like cigarette smoke after cleaning.
Friendliness and efficiency of reception and concierge staff Good tables cleared and reset very slowly at breakfast time
good value for money, because of special price. Did not read others wiews
Location by the sea. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff. After the high season the childrens play area had apparently been closed, which was a shame as we were lacking things to do when it rained for a couple of days during our stay. Not quite the family hotel I imagined it would be. Nice hotel though. For some reason there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom for the whole 6 days we stayed there. I have no idea where this smell originated from.
the staff where very nice polite and helpfull, the entertainment was good and the bar at the deck was excellent
Large and quiet room, nice decor, location next to the bay. Very good Thai restaurant. Poor quality of breakfast. Pooor quality of dinner in the main restaurant. Sheets were not changed daily. Very aggressive communication such as "you mustn't touch anything in the minibar or you will be charged a fortune". The hotel blocked 400eur on my credit card for two weeks.
A very good hotel with good facilities. Clean and accommodating staff. May be a little difficult to access sea due to sea conditions. However, 4 large swimming pools available
The pool area and sun deck and very nice, and the food, especially breakfasts were superb Extremely noisy neighbours, playing load music late at night
amazing choice of breakfast! great location and nice pool area. Great being able to sit outside for a drink in the evening. towels and bed a bit hard, decor old fashioned - could have made more use of fabulous position
Staff were all v. v. friendly, location, breakfast is one of the best Hilton breakfasts I've had, pools, good offer on the spa on a rainy day. Room cleaning was not up to scratch, it was of the 'lick and a promise' variety. Bed changed only once during 7 nights' stay, @ €415 per night...Housekeeping walks straight in without knocking, which is really not on. Car park is a very strange affair with hidden lifts and level 5 inside the hotel is level 0 in the car park, utterly confusing.
the atmosphere was great and relaxing and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly the water was a bit expensive...make sure that you purchase it from the grocery next door....bottle of water in hotel cost euro 4.5
Just returned from Hotel Hilton Malta feeling very relaxed. Hotel was great with excellent restaurants on site and within walking distance at the marina and nearby Spinola Bay,
The executive lounge was very good for breakfast and pre dinner drinks, felt that it should have stayed open for after dinner drinks.Good location. Access to certain parts of the building required changing lifts.
Scenery was pleasent but it was a little bit uphill slope to climb! The hotel. Generally if I go to malta I would prefer it again.
Good breakfast, good hotels' restorants Itis a shame, that residents of the 5 stars hotel have to pay for towels in pool area and for a gym as extra payment! The quality of SPA procedures are not corresponding offered prices.
the room was excellent, with perfect view on La valletta walls, very good breakfast the shower was broken and they need 3 days to repair it
i liked the food in most restaurants as we stayed ion a spa room we could not find a thing to complain about .This is the forth time we have stayed here and hope to do so again if they carry on doing the all inclusive deals
what i liked the most were quietness, comfort and the good price-quality relation.
the view was amazing, however the hotel seems to cater mostly for people much older than us - in attitude if not in years - who didn't mind being told what was available rather than being asked what they'd like. This isn't what I expect from a true 5 star hotel. The gym was closed on Sundays - why? This was one of the reasons we went to the hotel! See above. Very unimpressed about closure of gym facilities on Sunday.
The location of the hotel is spot on. It is close to everything including the hop on hop off tour buses, harbour cruises etc. There is a new modern shopping centre next door to the hotel. We had a lovely room with a fabulous view of the harbour. The room was clean and modern and the bathroom was spotless. The hotel is about 20 mins from the airport (by taxi). The staff were helpful and there is a good choice of restaurants in the hotel. The buffet breakfast was good too and overall the hotel was good value for money. There was nothing to dislike about this hotel.
The room was great, the view to Valetta fantastic and the restaurant choice superb In some of the restaurants the service was a little slow. No wi-fi internet access.
Nice hotel in excellent position, close to shopping and cafes, very helpful staff at checkin.
god frukost och bra service
Near to good shopping, the sea and convenient for Valleta, ferries Does not deserve a five star rating. Not the best quality food. Not all spa facilities in use.
Great View from balcony , convenient parking just outside the door , 5 min walk to shops and restaurants .
Nicely by the sea, large room with sea view. Roome decoration was simple, facililty was basic. The old receptionist was a bit fussy and snobby.
The breakfast was really nice, staff excellent and helpful, and for the price it gives just enough. The hotel room itself, was not so comfy, but if you are looking just for a place where you will sleep during the nights, its just fine.
The view from our balcony The siting of the dining room. The lack of toiletries and towels. The electrics looked decidly dodgy, our electric fan did not work and buttons on the television were missing
Having booked a room with a sea view, we were given a small back room with a frosted window to a service shaft for the first 3 nights.
The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and were most helpful at all times. The hotel is in an excellent location, a few minutes walk to the ferry to Valletta and bus connections to some of the more important destinations on the island. No matter what other reviewers might have said, I found the room large, comfortable and clean. The bed linen was clean and fresh towels were laid out each day. There was a TV in the room, contrary to my expectations, and even though the programmes were in Italian, which given Malta's geographic position, was not so surprising. Having read the reviews before booking, I chose this hotel mainly because of the rate, and though there were some shortcomings (e.g. breakfast was very basic and the breakfast room could do with redecoration) I found it to be extraordinary value for money. As a senior citizen, I found it to contain everything I needed.
Good location, large room which was kept clean, friendly staff and good value for money. Breakfast was below par for visitors
Very comfortable beds, friendly staff Breakfast
large room and helpful staff
location was very good, only a short walk/bus to the town centre. very noisy, builders banging about early morning, toilet making lots of noise.bed not that comfortable.
Friendly and helpfull personnel It's getting less proper. Bathroom is having black spots, moisty spots, joints are falling of etch. Needs refreshing
very convenient location for buses & ferries to valletta & rest of island. plenty of cafes in walking distance on slema promenade. 2 twin bedroom large for europe. rooftop pool small, unheated & not really inviting. air conditioner a little tempermental
Courteous & efficient staff, great views across Sliema Creek to Valletta from the Sea View rooms. The hotel is situated on a very noisy main road, traffic noise from 6am to midnight, sometimes later - don't try sleeping with the windows open. Non Sea View rooms only look into an internal courtyard, less noise but a bit claustrophobic. Public areas are fine but some rooms could do with a bit of a refresh before they could really be classed as 4 star. Buffet breakfast is fairly basic as well for 4 star.
Car Park was great in an area hard to find parking. Staff very helpful. Buffet Restaurant was excellent. Pleasant room and very peaceful. Would definitely stay again.
Room was OK, access easy, breakfast good Reception staff not so "friendly" - but still professional. Everything like WiFi, TV, room safe were charged as extras... so didn;t get used.
All was good - location, room, staff, food (bkfst only for us), TV, wifi. Just one thing. We checked out at 1200 but were not leaving to airport until 1800, so we wanted to leave baggage there. There is no specific place - just one corner of the lobby area - but zero security. They don't even give baggage tags. So if your bag goes, you can do nothing. Either the hotel should stop accepting bags, or start a system to run this properly. We were lucky because we could take our bags - there was no way I could leave them with no security - but I presume most visitors would have no choice.
The accessibility of the local services, beach and being able to use some extra beach faciliities through the Hotel There was no fresh fruit available at breakfast It is now getting to have a tired look as will soon be in need of refurbishment
Proximity to seafront. Comfortable (if tired) room. Levels of friendliness very variable, esp. front of house. I feel that a warm welcome and friendly service goes a long way. However, all requests were considered and handled reasonably effectively. Improvement suggestions to duty manager were well received and I was happy with response. Breakfasts - although included in the price - were uninspiring; food quality acceptable.
The view of the sea and the nice coffee area at front of hotel where you could sit in side or outside
good location To be honest, I experienced a shock just ten minutes after my arrival. A huge cockroach welcomed us as soon as we opened the bathroom. We killed it and complained to the reception. They said such things never happen and fortunately it proved to be true. We found no more cockroaches. Neither in our room, nor in other hotel facilities, it must have been a lonely guy:). Rooms were clean and tidy.
good location close to the fairy area and on the bus route to the airport very nice traditional restaurants in the area poor accommodation the room looked like wasn't rehabilitated since years - old furniture the overall conditions are meting the expectations for a maximum 2 stars hotel even thought was quite expensive
the veiw, personnel, food and location were excellent We did not like the top bed covers divided in two,it was impossible to get heat and so it felt cold.
The staff was great. It does cater to older clients but that means no problem to get a great sleep. Don't understand the complaint about breakfast. It was the most comprehensive buffet that we saw in 5 weeks of travel in Italy, Sicily and Malta.Hotel a little dated but clean and the price could not be bettered for this location. no
Sea view from the room is excellent. Location is good - near all points of interest, but at night you hear only the sea (if the window is opened), not music from the clubs or cafes, or something like this. Furniture looks shabby. Shower gel smelled like it's rotten. No balcony. Very weak and unstable wi-fi signal in the room.
Sea view from the room Uncomfortable bed
The Diplomat was in a very good position on the main sea front promenade and a 15 minute walk into the main town with lots of bars and restaurants on the way. The buffet breakfast was very good with lots of choice. The air-conditioning was not cold enough for us. After being examined by the maintenance, it seemed that there was nothing wrong with it and seemed to be the accepted temperature for the locals. Do not choose a room at the front of the hotel as there is an outside bar which is open till 2.00/3.00am and gets quite noisy and lively. The hotel was clean enough, but needs a sprucing up, a coat of paint, was a bit run down for a 4*.
compact room and all the facilities were conveniently situated cleaners start work too early
The room seemed either new or newly renovated so that was nice. Our building was connected to the main building on the strand and the alley was a little creepy at night.
Location at Sliema Ferries
Good location, excellent staff and good breakfast. None
excellent position, good value for money, clean and modern rooms, helpful staff
ok apartments , central , shopping -15 min walk for the point ,big new shopping centre - but cleaning and "service" has to be better !
Good central location with easy access to local shops bus routes to app parts if the island Poor view from bedroom balcony. Would have been a problem in summer but ok in November!
The service provided was very good and the location was excellent.
The staff was really welcoming and always pleasant and helpful( but the older man, who was there the first night and had no clue what he was doing), the view from the room was stunning everything was modern and in good condition, free internet in the sea view apartments, but not in the apartments that were a bit further away from the hotel ( but still under the same direction of the hotel) I payed ($$$) for a sea view apartment, but for the first night only got 2 rooms with "wall view". THere was no refund but instead got choices as: one free dinner for the 3 of us, or free drinks, neither was attractive to us( as the buffet food didn't look very appetizing and we were in a group of 15). The beds are all single beds! Why? With no mattress protection, the flat sheets ( they have not heard of fitted sheets yet...)were constantly out of place. Very unpleasant. The kitchen could have some free detergent or at least tea towels.
Great value for money, good service. We had an apartment with a terrible view of rubbish from our window, the shower was just oo small
booked double room we had a family suite with 2 bedrooms and sitting room food was a bit boring after a week some fresh fruit apples etc would have been nice at breakfast
location was stunning overlooking Valetta, also very convenient for all the buses and boat trips. The breakfast was good and the accomodation most comfortable and clean.Having tea/coffee facilities in the room was a bonus. signposting in the hotel was not great, we had no information in the room what facilities were available and how to find them.
excellent breakfast and splendid seavieuw, nearby means of local transportation easy to reach on foot staf was not very hospitable
Excellent sight, offer price per night quite appealing, good beds. Invasive staff (three calls in the room for apparently no reason (check for closed windows, check-out confirmation 2 hrs before time etc), could have phoned from reception). Varied but low-quality breakfast buffet. Bathroom cleanliness improvable. Very expensive spa treatments (higher than most Italian SPAs).
We had a garden room which we found nice and quite with plenty of room. We did book a sea view room but as the rooms we had were much bigger we did not ask to change.
very nice place, restaurants were good no
Close to restaurants & shopping The restaurant for breakfast was horrendous, buffet style sub standard food and the worst coffee I have ever tasted. Did not enjoy our stay and would not go back.
view to La Valletta across the bay, very nice stuff, free Harbour tour with a boat for the hotel guests. We stayed at the same hotel for the second time ... but probably the last time too. For the first night we came, we were placed in (I belive so) older part of the building. Now we understand complains of other guests on this page. Lucky for us first in the morning nice receptionist finded the room which we demand in our reservation in newer part of the hotel. Food is really poor quality and I'm sorry have to say kind of low cost for most of it- no excuse for! Even nice stuff can't do a miracle out of awfull salami, susagess and only 1 kind of cheap cheese. One week of eating ham and eggs is too much especially for four stars hotel. During my stay they renovated the restaurant. The substitute place was to small so there were crowdy and caotic breakfasts all the time at any time. How we payed full price I find this high uncorrect. Close to hotel complex new shopping point is just opened which already causes road in front of the hotel noisy and traffic. Wi-Fi is still science fiction for the managers. There is no PC available to the guests even in reception lobby! Realy poor and far from 4 stars!
The situation of the hotel was fantastic looking over the water to Valletta. Very good for ferry and bus. Variety of restaurants to eat in. Very reasonably priced That we didn't have longer to spend there
did'nt a room with full sea view even though start of season
Absolutely everything - from check-in to check-out! The staff were professional and genuinely friendly. The room was large and comfortable and we had a side view of the pool and the bay. Even if we had a minor problem or question, it was immediatly taken care of. The indoor pool and the gym was excellent, as was the steam room and sauna. Breakfast was yummy, drinks at the bar were classy and the one dinner we had at the hotel was delicious. The gymand indoor pool were not open til after 4pm on New Year's Day (after we had checked-out).
The staff and facilities at the hotel were excellent. Very clean hotel and helpful staff. The lounge bar with piano is gorgeous. Can't say anything negative about the hotel.
Wonderful hotel, excellent facilities and friendly staff.
The hotel staff made the stay pleasant. Enjoyed the lobby bar/restaurant with live piano undertainment in the evening. The wardrobe facilities including the sauna by the indoor pool needs upgrading. The fact that it also is used by none hotel residents makes it to much public. Quite a few people were making their full morning toilet.
Clean and nice hotel. The Reef Club was not open, and they did not inform about this. Even the staff at the orher pool did not know there was such a club! It was supposed to open next week, but seeing the spot, I doubt it...
Friendliness off staff, excellent service and food, comfort and ambiance of hotel
Everything was excellent, staff, rooms, location, they had great half/full package deals. Kids had lots to do and really enoyed themselves. Lots of sport facilities so we did lots of sports, could eat well and did not put on a gramme of weight!!!
i did't like the fact that they block 150 euros on my credit card when we arrive for the future expensis during my stay. i never heard of such thing before!
Staff are excellent - very friendly and helpful Very Very poor value for money compared to the Intercontinental just round the corner. We stayed in a Tower room which leaked water from the rain and required a new carpet. For the same money at the Inter we could have stayed in a family room and used the VIP lounge. Breakfast was expensive and evening meal was poor for the money. We actually ended up eating at the sports bar in the Inter for 2 nights which has a better menu and far better value for money
The lobby of the hotel is renvovated to look nice and welcoming, but when you arrive to the rooms the halls are dark and damp. Many of the floors smell like chlorine. I didn't find the staff very helpful or accommodating. Beware wifi is not free.
The staff was friendly and the location is very easy to get to and convenient! Frankly, I have been surrounded by helpful people regardless of the modesty of the services. The quality of the bed and their internet services.
The position was excellent, just off the promenade and walking distance to buses and ferry to Valetta. Swimming pool on the roof was a bonus on hot days. The decor needed updating and the beds were worn.
Nothing Room was very small and service was not upto the star category of this hotel.
The cleaning staff were particularly cheerful, attentive and thorough - top marks! The food was generally good, but not of a standard which I would expect from a Four Star Hotel. More importantly, I would also have expected a clear indication of the cost of telephoning from the hotel. This turned out to be terribly expensive; guests should be advised of the charges clearly in the room services folder next to the section giving the international dialling codes.
Location. The hotel is not of 4 star standard or anywhere close to that. The two single beds in the room had unfitted sheets that came off as soon as you sat down and no undersheets or matress protectors. The staff, while not rude, were far from hospitable. Overall it was fair value for money but not a pleasant experience. Fitness centre is closed for much of the weekend.
Central location, swimming pools indoor and out. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
checking out we were expecting a 4 star hotel as advertised but the room was dirty and the bathroom dirty more like a backpacker rooming house.the breakfast was not a 4 star menu in fact we only ate a piece of toast and a glass of orange cordial. very disappointed.
Very nice friendly efficient staff, perfect location in Sliema along the seafront, big confortable clean room, very good breakfast and excellent dinner buffet.
The efficiency of the hotel reception manager.
Absolutely loved it, would definately re visit No
Sensitive conversion of lovely historic building Very spacious duplex room with ample space for reading, writing - feels very private - good location for a romantic escape - extensive covered balcony - great in summer Generous well-equipped bathroom Very quiet location in residential Sliema Though equipped with 2 wide-screen TVs - reception was of poor quality Awkward relationship with sister Victoria Hotel - who run the Capua - separate building - when going to bar/ dining room/ use of pool - No B&B/half- board package available - unlike Victoria - upholstered furniture needs recovering (in our room but especially in dining room)
