The dinner as part of the package was an experience I will never forget with multiple courses of fine Japanese food in a wonderful room overlooking a carp filled lake. Our japanese style room included an Onsen bath and a hot tiled bench sauna.
Cons: Nothing, although for non-japanese reading guests it takes a little finding.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Travelling with friends and I wanted to give them a real Japanese Ryokan. Well...this is the REAL DEAL. We stayed in a Superior Japanese-Style Room with Bathroom. Great room, comfortable, traditional with a view of the river and the sound of running water as well as the mod-cons including air-conditioning, toilet and basin. Room size was 40 sq m so plenty of space for three guys. While spoken english is a challenge, the staff are very friendly, very helpful and I suggest either Google Translate or take down pen an paper and write want you need. It was everything I expected and more and would love to return with my wife and daughter to give them the same experience. I can see this becoming a habit!
Cons: No complaints - absolutely met all of our expectations

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: A traditional-style onsen ryoukan, with seperate houses to stay and amazing meals. Since Japanese bathing temperatures are usually way too hot for me, it was perfect to have my private onsen, where I could moderate the temperature. And the staff is super friendly!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is in a very convenient location in the historic, quaint old samurai town of Mameda-Machi where there are many artisan stores and multi-generation family-owned sake, Japanese sweets and condiment shops. There is a cute cafe/bar next door, also owned by the owner, as well as a river across the street, great for walks. The property itself is clean, with modern amenities including washer/dryer, kitchen/dining space that is very spacious for Japanese standards, with nice Japanese woodwork/carpentry touch throughout. A wonderful way to experience what it would be like to “live” in Japan.
Cons: N/A

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was spacious and minimal and comfortable and decorated with such great taste, I especially liked the local pottery
Cons: Would have enjoyed a coffee maker!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was great experience and I felt Hita so much. I had one day business trip to Ohita pref. and chose the place to stay the night. The location is great. It is very convenient to go to Hakata, Aso Kumamoto, down-town in Ohita, and other places. It is kind of middle of the area, so I am very happy to find there. In the room, there is a kitchen, so I want to cook by myself ( I did not use this time) and would like to stay longer next time. I saw a lot of Hita Cedar in room, floor and pillar. I am very comfortable with traditional Japanese room with the wood and Tatami floor. It’s very cool. I went down stair to drink little bit before I went to bed. The bar had several customers who are from the area and were very friendly for me. We had drinks together and they taught me lot things of Hita City like good lunch/dinner restaurants and viewpoints. It was great time with them! Thank you, I met there!! I am sure that I am going back there with my family next time!

Pros: Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Great staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Foods was good and staffs are very friendly and nice!!
Cons: They gave us only one bath towel each. So we had to bring our own towel when we go to bath..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really loved everything! : Nice and helpful staffs, Locations(It is far from the town but there is a pick-up service), Food(dinner&breakfast both are amazing), Onsen(Public onsens are big&nice, Private onsens are need to be reserved and also amazing). and they upgraded our room, so me and my sisters stayed in the big room near the waterfall. It costs almost 250 dollars per person to stay here(including the meals), but it worth it.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Food was exceptional and staff friendly & helpful Various Onsen at hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building is breathtaking and we could see the waterfall from the outdoor onsen and also from our private outdoor onsen (attached to our room). 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Route-inn didn’t have the largest rooms or onsen, but it was all nicely laid out and quite new. Everything seemed to be just right. There are many good dinner options nearby. The included breakfast was available earlier than at most hotels (6:00 am) and the buffet was really good with a wide offering.
Cons: There wasn’t an enclosed area to park our bikes overnight, but we did leave them outside in front of the hotel without any problems.

Pros: Breakfast is delicious!
Cons: The room is not that big as you can see in the picture but it’s okay not bad.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a lovely hotel. It makes everyone feel so relaxed with the river view. Breakfast was excellent! Staff was amazing and friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: loved the homely feel of the ryokan. The relaxation corner at level 1 was perfect for families. We played songs on the record player and played board games that were provided. Was a lovely and relaxed stay =)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: River view room: Location and river view
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The peace and quiet (we went during the off season obviously, it was nice to have the onsen to ourselves). Place was clean, onsen facilities good. They had a salt sauna in one of the public baths which was interesting. The room with the private bathtub was nice, would definitely recommend getting that over just the public bath. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It's roughly a 3km walk to the Sapporo Hita Brewery, uou could take a taxi but if the weather is fine it's a nice stroll through local neighborhoods (added bonus in that everyone can drink, taxis on the way down from the brewery are hard to come by when it's not busy)
Cons: Was expecting more of a traditional Japanese breakfast that you see in ryokan/onsen hotels instead of a fusion western/japanese breakfast. No hot water kettle in room (though they had a nespresso type machine which can make coffee also doubled as a hot water dispenser but the water wasn't hot enough) No tea leaves/bags in the room surprisingly only a couple of coffee pods)
6.3 Good
Pros: The onsen was wonderful and so was the salt sauna. The breakfast booth was great too. The staff did their best including one hopping in my car to take me to another car park as theirs was full.
Cons: The room which I nicknamed the disco room - black and silver floor to ceiling wallpaper on one side. Just because I am a foreigner doesn't mean I want to sleep in a bed. I book a Ryokan to sleep in a futon. The room was VERY noisy with machinery from the surrounding ryokans. Plus I left early one day and they couldn't prepare a Bento breakfast which many other places do and they didn't offer any refund. A very old traditional Ryokan but for the price I've stayed in way better places. Oh and other non-Anglo foreigners let their long wet hair flow everywhere in the onsen, didn't use towels nor clean up but that's not the ryokan's fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful accommodation! Great location for exploring Hita, and the staff were fantastic - kind and exceedingly helpful. Lovely breakfast, comfortable room and great public bath. All in all a great experience. Diolch yn fawr!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our room was extremely comfortable and the day bed and view exceeded our expectations. Kojiro Takahashi was a standout employee who went out of his way to assist us with directions, booking us on our dinner cruise and in general helpfulness. The onsen was to die for with many pools to choose from to soak in. I particularly liked the outside pool. But I think the best thing about my stay there was the view.
Cons: Iit couldn't have been better we even stayed an extra night
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very Japanese: extremely helpful staff. nothing was too much trouble from setting our sat nav to chasing Japan Rail passes. many thanks in particular to Takahashi Kojiro who gave us an insight into Japanese culture (and where to watch the Rugby). The Onsen was an experience that must not be missed. The shop has wonderful local crafts. if you want a real experience of Japanese hospitality then this hotel and Hita is a worthwhile visit.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly, the onsun was lovely, cute rooms more traditional Japanese style, coffee available in the lobby , was a great stay!

The owner is an elegant lady and she surprised and greeted us with nice Macha at the finish of our breakfast. The meals was delicious and authentic Japanese food. Will definitely come again!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was exeptional including the scenery from the room, hot spring, the dinner and breakfast and great service and hospitality of the staffs. It’d be the best place if you want to experience the most Japanese style onsen ryokan in Kyushu.
Cons: No
8.8 Excellent
Pros: They tried to please
Cons: The WiFi in room was impossible had to go into lobby to get a working signal
7.9 Good
Pros: If you want to experience the true Japanese culture then come here. The staff are really professional, friendly and helpful. The room set up is clean and quiet with beautiful views across the river and hillside.
Cons: The food is from a set menu which you cannot choose and is the same every day. The food is good quality but is only for guests who enjoy true Japanese cuisine and this did not suit us. Would be better to offer an option of room only. The beds are futons which again is not for us. There are two chairs in the room but nowhere to relax.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Every services in the hotel are surprisingly good.(open public bath, meals, service-mind and etc.) We got a room which has a river-view and it was so awesome in morning.
Cons: (Advice) We can’t find about a pick-up service in a hotel description, so we decided to walk from Amagase station to hotel and it was farther than we thought. For hotel, it would be great if you could add more details about services. For guest, it should be better to contact hotel in advance and ask for service. Thank you.

6.3 Good
Pros: Staff extremely helpful and available when you need them. Restaurant s on site.
Cons: The showers were in a different building and available during certain hours, the walls were really thin (could hear everything from outside to another room), and we had a leaf blower every morning wake us up at 7:30 am. 9.6 Excellent
