Always friendly staff. Quick to address an issue I had. Large rooms. Close to beach. Had a free awesome breakfast every day.
Jacuzzi did not work properly.
Walking on the beach at South Padre Island.
We love South Padre and were excited for 4 fun days on the coast. As soon as we entered La Copa hotel we notice an odd smell then a different odor in our room. There was also hair left on our bathroom floor. The free breakfast was lousy- cold waffles, atrocious coffee, and the eggs were awful. We had to find another business for breakfast. The pool area isn’t as big as the picture makes it out to be and there was sand in the bottom of the pool. The hot tub was barely warm. The workout room had kids playing on the equipment while blasting music. The kids left but there was no way to turn down the music in the gym. Our initial room was on the 3rd floor... after dinner on our 2nd night we came back to our room to what sounded like thunderous footsteps above us. We called down at the desk to complain and found out that their special events are located on the 4th floor, directly above us, and there was a wedding going on. We had to argue but the clerk finally agreed to move us to another room on the 2nd floor. That morning we woke up to make coffee but witnessed bugs actually crawling out of the coffee maker! Last straw. We immediately checked out and asked to speak to a manager about refunding the 2 nights we did not use. The clerk apologized and said that the manager wasn't in yet but that he/she would call us later that day. We drove the 6 hours back home. That evening we hadn't heard from the manager so we called the La Copa but apparently he/she had gone for the day. We called the following day and told the clerk why we wanted to speak with the manager (to refund us our 2 unused nights). The clerk tells us La Copa doesn't issue refunds, ever. Again I asked to speak with the manager. I was then put on hold... I was on hold for 19 minutes. I hung up and tried calling back but no one answered. I called back 13 times. No answer. Then I called hotels.com. The representative I spoke with took my complaint and tried calling La Copa to resolve the issue in order to issue a refund. The rep couldn't get anyone at La Copa to answer the phone either so he was going to follow up and email me in a few days when they issue the refund. A week later I get an email from hotels.com with the following, "We are sorry to hear about the charges. As much as we want to process the refund, we were unable to do as the hotel charged the reservation for the entire stay. According to the hotel, they were unable to authorize a refund as they do not have a record that you checked out early.” (!) So La Copa claims my wife & I did not check out early, essentially calling us liars, and hotels.com doesn't do a damn thing about it. We have used hotels.com numerously but after this experience we will never use them again. Awful customer service. We have filed a dispute with our credit card to get a refund for the unused portion of our trip. Avoid La Copa like the plague, and use another online booking service besides hotels.com via kayak.com.
Interior upgrade design. . Small Starbucks. . Breakfast omeletes were great..
You can hear from your room everything that was going on in the hallway (echoed really bad)... pool was to close at 1100 but everyone getting rudly kicked out by 1015 by security. .
We liked the cleanliness of the facilities. The rooms were clean, and we liked that the floors were tile and not carpet.
Love the location. Close to beach and stores.
It was on the beach and breakfast was included. Also the security to keep out freeloaders. It was budget priced.
Walls are paper thin so all noises are heard in hallways which included drunk people and knocking on doors(including ours) to loud music blaring at 11pm or 230am when bars closed. The fire alarm was pulled one night at 3am which was sweet of them(college kids) to do.
The restaurants and close to restaurants in close city's
The weather. We will be back for the sand sandfest in Oct.
It was really close to the beach. The food was good and the service was great. Nice rooms and comfortable beds.
The construction was noisy. They seemed limited on staff. Need more people at the front.
I liked that the beach was so close to the hotel.
I did not like the fact that we found a spider and a roach on the bathroom floor. The beds could have been more comfortable as well.
For the money it was great. Free breakfast. Get there early for the omelet line. REALLY CLEAN. The entire property was well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One of our best experiences in South Padre. Beat the hell out of the Pearl Hotel!
The only issue I had was with the guys running the rental of the "cabanas" and the "Banana Ride" they were a bit unprofessional and acted like they owned that part of the beach. I will just bring my own shade and chairs next time!
Location, beach access, security and parking control on holiday weekend.
Free breakfast food choices limited, no breakfast meats, juice machine juice was warm. Had to request room cleaning at 4 pm on one of the 3 days we were there.
Shower ceiling breaking off
No carpet on 2nd floor
