Very modern and stylish hotel, nice location, in walking distance to pedestrian zone Very small rooms
Beautiful, tastefully appointed hotel. Ultra modern accommodations in a Sicillian village that blossoms with antiquity. The restaurant is fine, but visitors are in the center of a town where one cannot find a bad meal; only, as Rick Steves phrases it, better.
The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was very expensive. "Ceasar's Salad" comprising Lettuce ,sauce and a few croutons was €17.A very high standard of food was available in any of the restaurants locally for half the price. The Hotel lacked athmosphere as there were only a handful of people staying there the week we were there.
Very comfortable, delightful staff, close to shops and sights. I am returning for a night at the end of the month. I liked everything
Chic hotel with very friendly staff ( something that Italian/Scilian hotel staff are not noted for ) Nothing was too much trouble, not only for us but for all guests some of which were very demanding.
Superb hotel overall .Great location .Spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff, Great breakfast freshly cooked to your requirements.. Size of the balconies.
Well-designed boutique hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is an undiscovered jewel. Self-parking facility is non-existent at the hotel. Parking in the garage is expensive.
The hotel is brand new. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is really helpful. If one arrives by car, it is advisable to book a parking place in advance.
Everything We called the hotel for directions from the road. Had they told us that they were the only modern looking hotel on the mountain , right after you pass through the main square and that it had a glass front on the right not the left we would have saved over an hour trying to find the place.
Location, cortesia dello staff, ottimo servizio e rapporto qualità-prezzo (upgrade gratuito in una splendida suite)
The facilities for business use were quite poor with limited access to internet & business facilities. in the end I had to go into the town to use the internet facilities
Wonderful hotel in a very historic building that they have preserved extremely well. The location in Taormina is ideal, and the views are fantastic. Lovely garden. The staff are extremely attentive --especially for Sicily where staff training is often so-so. The restaurant, Principe Cerami, is well worth the price and deserves its Michelin rating. Breakfast, the lunch restaurant, and the bar are all very high quality. They will park your car for you and bring it when you need it. This is very useful in Taormina where parking is otherwise difficult.
excelent hotel with amazing sea veiws & gardens in Toarmino
The resort staff provided superior service from check in to departure and true to advertised detail there were stunning views of the sea and Mt. Etna from the restuarant.
Bedroom too small x price requested. For lunch only restaurant open Pool- site. Price for in hotel drinks-food exorbitant. Ambient excellent, gardens super.
Perfectly sited for getting into Taormina with stunning views of Etna from a gorgeously positioned garden. A very wonderful building. Everything was ridiculously expensive (even for Taormina!) so we didn't use any facilities other than the room itself and the gym. 9 Euros for a cup of tea; 20 euros for a half bottle of average wine. Rather than stimulate extra revenue from its guests, its policy seems to drive them into the arms of the surrounding businesses.
The location is perfect. The building has a nice atmosphere and the service is what can be expected from a hotel in this price range. The room was small for a room in this price range. The food and beverages were unpleasantly expensive.
Staff is excellent and could not be more helpfull and patient, location perfect just minutes away from via Umberto, food good but I had better. Pool area is not good for children pool too deep and too quite.
The service was excellent and breakfast very good. The restaurants are excellent but on the expensive side. Sell the house before eating by the pool. The cost of extras is very high, the rooms and general decor very tired with cheap rather nasty furniture in the rooms, the pool is right on an exit route out of town so is noisy. Good hotel that's seen its best years.
the perfect hospitality; delightful staff; great pool ; very beautiful surroundings and understated elegance. no
The facilities, the view and the location
The whole atmosphere in the hotel, with all the history and kind staff
It was a wonderful experience to stay this hotel. Sprendid view..... Very difficult to get the hotel by car.
The hotel was quite beautiful and well located. The breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view was a delight. We were located in the annex which we would not have taken if we realized it. Although the room was nice, we felt isolated.
the views having a film being made in the hotel during our stay. no thought about health and safety
We were not satisfied with our original room in the annex, but were upgraded to a suite in the main building with a wonderful view as soon as the staff realized our unhappiness.
Quality of the public rooms No
the view, the swiming pool and the excellent breakfast italian staff never very dynamic
luxury and intimate
The accommodations were first rate. The view from our balcony of the sea and of Mt. Etna was breathtaking. I loved the proximity of the hotel to the Taormina shopping area. I am already planning my return trip to the Grand Hotel Timeo. We ended up staying in a Junior Suite rather than the Double Deluxe Room. The signs in Taormina to the Grand Hotel Timeo could be better. It was hard for us to find the hotel entrance and the parking area.
The hotel was luxuriously appointed, spotlessly clean and the staff very courteous, attentive and friendly. The interior design was beautiful and cleverly executed with many attractive features. It was positioned within walking distance of shops, restaurants and historical sights. The roof terrace was disappointingly small with few sunbeds and parasols. There was a very noisy air conditioning unit within a few metres of the sunbeds. Due to the lack of a swimming pool and balcony this was a problem for relaxation. In hotels literature there was a beach club advertised but no mention that it would not open until the 1st June. As we arrived on the 28.05.10 this was a disappointment. The beach club was clean with good facilities and friendly staff, but as it was shared with a 3 star establishment was a little mediocre for a 5 star luxury hotel.
The service and staff were excellent but as far as I could tell there were only one other couple staying at the time. It needs to be seen how they would cope in the high season. The design of rooms and and bathrooms was first rate and functional. The main restaurant menu was the only menu on offer for room service. For a hotel of this there should be another choice.
Everything was fantastic - but the atmosphere was stylish without being sterile. The service was attentive, warm and very competent. The restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was yummy. The only thing that redeemed our 3 days of rain - was El Jebel. This hotel would suit anyone - young or old. I would not recommend this for anyone having difficulty climbing stairs. Although our luggage was taken care of - there are still at least 20 steps to the main entrance.
An excellent hotel in all aspects! It was the first time we spent a couple of nights there, but we would definitely like to go back, at least once a year. Relaxing, luxury and cozy at the same time. Excellent sea view from the Suite of Sultan, original design and decoration of the room and the bathroom. Mediterranean breakfast just superb. The only limitation, for people with walking problems, is the access to this hotel: through 20 stairs (and no access by car).
A perfect boutique hotel in the hearth of Taormina! The hotel staff were very professional and courteous. They spoke perfect English. The waiters at breakfast were exceptional serving a multi-course breakfast of our choice. The room was luxurious but not overdone. Comfortable beds, silent airconditioning, tastefully decorated, amazing views! The bathroom was exceptionally clean with the most elegant fixtures I have ever seen. Internet wifi available for free. The hotel is excellent located in Taormina (Sicily's Monte Carlo!), everything is within walking distance in this historic town. From the hotel's terrace (cool bar & restaurant on the rooftop) you have a superb view over Sicily's East-coast with Etna and Mediterranean sea! We will be going back to El Jebel that is for sure! One of the best hotels I have stayed at!
The room and the staff were terrific
Excelant view Breakfast was a little poor
Intimate, luxurious and very good value out of season. A room you don't want to leave The shower didn't drain quickly enough
The room and location No pool!
Building is superb as is location. Suites are well designed and reasonably spacious. Friendly and helpful staff. There are a number of extra charges that are not expected with a five-star establishment eg for beach club use; for wifi and for parking and incidentally the parking is not on-site as suggested on the website. The standard continental breakfast though adequate is a tad on the meagre side.
The most beautiful view ever, poolside fabulous, great service, and helpful staff. Walking distance to sites and shopping. Hope to return. Request ocean view and terrace. Great food (breakfast and lunch til 4 pm poolside). Parking available and assisted by staff.
Great staff, relaxing pool, area lovely breakfast & dining area easy walk to the centre None
The views were breathtaking and the staff were lovely. Couldnt do enough. Bedrooms a little dated Could upgrade the rooms in keeping with the stunning location
Great hotel with beautiful landscaping and pool setting. Staff were very friendly and effiicient and took care of the parking for us. Wonderful breakfast...one of the best on our 3 week trip thru out Sicily. Booked the standard room but would highly recommend upgrading to one with a terrace and balcony (worth the extra euros). I loved this hotel!!! Standard room a little dated compared to the rest of the hotel which was marvelous.
Very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wonderful views and fabulous gardens. Good location 5 mins walk to town centre.
We stayed in junior suit with a perfect view of Etna and sea; the terrace was perfect..
not a thing everything, the rooms were dirty dust everywhere, windows were filthy, dont think they had ever been used, excuse for an air conditioning unit that was full of bug and germ bearing dust, bathroom was awful the whole place had a seady air about it and I would not put my dog in it if it were a kennal
very old bed. small bathroom
We had a great view from our room that was wonderful to see each morning.
the staff attitude -
Location! I'd say is not a 4 stars hotel as advertised!
The hotel has a pleasant home-like feeling and an excellent location. At breakfast time one can enjoy the view of Mt.Etna from the rooftop terrace. Around the corner are the Public Gardens (Giardino Pubblico), very convenient for a walk in the well tended park, and again with view of Mt.Etna and the sea. At the same time only a few minutes walk away from the main corso. English speakers are well served at the front desk. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation!
The room was good, a little old but quaint. It was clean and quite large. The hotel is also old but typical of Taormina. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was quiet and the view from my room beautiful. Breakfast was also very good and the view from the restaurant is of Naxos and Etna. I think it just needs some TLC
It was very centrally located within Taormina enabling easy access to various bars and restaurants. It also offered superb panoramic views of the sea and mt Etna. Staff were very firndly and helpful. Out dated decor of rooms and reception/ lounge area of hotel
The staff were polite and the breakfast was pretty decent. The views from the hotel of Etna and the sea were stunning. This should not be a four star hotel. We paid extra for a 'suite' but arrived to find a small room with a large balcony with a glass ceiling (sun bathing in a green house) - very basic (no mini bar, sky sport TV etc..) The website states beach & pool facilities are at the "Paradise Beach Club in Letojanni at about 10 minutes distance from the hotel". This is a lie. The beach is about 25 minutes by car alone!! If you dont drive then you can get the free hotel minibus. We did this three times and each time it arrived about 20/30 minutes late to collect us. From leaving our room to getting to the hotel pool took about 1 hour!! Avoid this hotel.
A man stood outside waiting for us, asking our name and saying there were expecting us. Before we knew it, he had taken our heavy suitcases out of the car and into our room! On top of that, he took care of the car. The service was a breeze as well as the comfort of the room. German efficiency, thoroughness and cleanliness combined with the Mediterranean culture: excellent! 15 euro for parking is a lot, but necessary over there. It might be an idea though to park your car by the 'ski' lift, transporting people from the beach to Taormina center for 3 euro return. Walk from there, 200 metres from the centre.
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel had the most spectacular views and beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were delicious and served on a terrace overlooking the bay. Our room was a de luxe room, very large with sea views. The hotel is very central for the main part of Taormina but if you want the beach, for a small fee, there is a shuttle service provided to take you.
the location, the staff & the gardens
wonderful hotel, great staff. breakfast was amazing. excellent setting and so close to all the sights
In the oldtown, nice view, clean rooms, good price
Breakfast excellent Parking difficult
The staff at Hotel Villa Schuler are exceptional; well motivated, warm and friendly, intelligent and keen to help. Villa Schuler provides an a la carte breakfast service that works well when the (excellent) staff can cope, but they were overwhelmed on our first morning, when the hotel was full. The management should consider providing a buffet - at least for the breakfast essentials. The front desk recommendation of places to dine appeared motivated more by price (helping guests avoid being 'ripped off', which is important in Taormina) than quality - and included one resturant where quality was, in our experience, inferior.
Excellent! It was a pleasure to be in such an historic hotel, which has retained much of it's charm but been updated to meet current guest expectations. The book describing the history of the Hotel, left in each visitor's room, is fascinating. The family continuity adds greatly to the understanding, enjoyment and ambience of the Villa. Leaving after so short a stay.
excellent wiev, beatiful gardens, unbelievable location, super breakfast, very kind and helpfull staff at recepsion desk the waiter at the breakfast time, young woman, was impolite and nervous, she was distressed us! plastic chairs at the balconies
View (when I could see it) I chose larger room with view and tub - the air conditioning was not powerful too cool the room, even after the manager had an engineer "repair it". In order to get it cool enough I had to close the shutters leaving me with no view - even then the Temp at night was 28 degrees. Ants found in room and on bed. Manager also got lost his temper and shouted at me.
Beatiful views over the Bay, location within 5 mins walking of centre, lovely pool, friendly staff. Cost of Car Parking 8 euros per day.
Its proximity to the town and the views were spectacular. Gardens were well done Not really, we were there off season and the pool was shut, I suppose this was understandable
Accessibility to town, beautiful pool, well appointed room, hotel fit out with good quality paintings and furniture.Room overlooking the pool and the view to the sea.In all an excellent place to stay They could probably increse the output of the air conditionining.Difficult to keep room cool in hot summer.
very nice location, in the city up on the mountain, nice view. But shower room must be refurbiched.
Very convenient to bus station, cable car and Taormina town. Pool area very nice as was bar balcony, with a nice view. Public areas very attractive. Free use of internet computer an advantage
The location was great and we had a room with wonderful views. The breakfast was excellent and the choices changed each day. It was only a short walk to the old town and the cable car. Car parking was great - very hard to get in Taormina. The only entrance and exit was down a very very steep circular driveway. Once you had climbed that the rest was easy.
The location was great; overlooking the coastline and only a few minutes walk from the heart of Taormina.
Modern, comfortable, ideal, located with the attentive intelligent stuff, big rooms, easy to come to the center of Taormina and to the see. Nothing
Very well run hotel, great staff, fantastic views, walking distance to town centre. Partition walls between rooms are to light, and the hill out of the hotel was very steep.
Excellent position near park and overlooking bay of Gardia Naxos with view of Mt Etna. Excellent friendly attentative staff, lovely clean rooms with excellent breakfast. If arriving by car awkward turn into steep road down to hotel, which could be difficult for less mobile people and young families having to walk up it.
Excellent location, excellent staff and excellent room layout
Taomina town centre No sport or games, I.E. table tennis etc.
The view Acess by foot or by car exteremly difficult
All the staff in the hotel were excellent and nothing was to much trouble, including parking our car as the car park is very difficult to access. Overall we would strongly recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
Location was undoubtedly the biggest asset of this hotel. Perched along a sea facing cliff the views are the best money can buy. Communication with some of the staff....Italian only no english.
location, view, friendliness of staff, food beds are bad, linen is so-so, pillow not good
Location was lovely. Rather expensive.
Hotel views, ease to walk to town & modern design/decor. The pool would have been a lot better had it been a 'salt water' pool, rather than clorinated. Commuting to the beach located at the bottom of the mountain got a little tiresome, but was worth it.
Centrally located , very clean, courteous staff. An ideal place to relax The only drawback was the check out time. I had to check out by 11.30 am and my flight home was at 10.30 pm. It would be better if the check out time was optional and if necessary client would pay according to the check out time. (Maybe charging a half day rate for check out after 2 pm )
Lovely villa......the breakfasts are homemade items both unique to a buffet and delicious. Rosalie and Elena are wonderful hosts for the villa.
Interior design - a small hotel, few rooms - personal service/staff - location nothing, just perfect
The breakfast was very good, service was excellent and location was perfect. The view, we did really have such a good view. The beds were not that comfortable, they did not match the comfort level of the hotel and the service.
The level of service and the view from the terrace
The breakfast was excellent and imaginative, with local specialities. Shuttle bus to Taormina was very useful.
Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff, very relaxed and unstuffy, fantastic breakfast with beautiful views of the coastline and mountains, lovely antipasti provided in the evening with cocktails on the terrace, spacious room with private balcony and sea view. Best hotel we've stayed in and a fantastic start to our honeymoon. The only drawback was the quite long walk to and from the town - pleasant on the way down but uphill on the way back, but a shuttle bus was provided by the hotel and there are local buses too.
this one is a very special hotel. In many ways it is like everything you see and experience has an extra something. You get everything you'd expect - we had a large room overlooking the bay - a big bathroom - a fridge bar - beautiful clean and stylish decor - fluffy white towels.... and then there's the service, personal, friendly.Great value for low rates.
The view! The friendliness of the staff.
The view, hospitality and breakfast were outstanding. The lighted and clear mirror in the bathroom made everybody look beautiful. I also liked having a be-day. It was very quiet because it was a long walk from the action of the town. I didn't like that the only view to the outside was through the door, no other windows in the small room. It was a long walk from town.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive - very welcoming and helpful. Made our honeymoon stay very pleasant (Thanks, Paolo, Antonio, Alicia, Luca!). Great terrace, very well appointed rooms, very useful complimentary bus service. Gemma and Pram Leaving it...
Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. A glass of wine offered on arrival is a great attention. Our room and bathroom were very clean, elegant and comfortable. The view from the private mini terrasse and from the main terrasse of the hotel is astonishing. The rooms are equiped with SKY TV, meaning a great choice of channels. The value for money was excellent. No, but maybe because we stayed only one night. For people who stay longer, it might be a bit far from the city centre and they might miss a swimming pool. However, they have good deals with three private beaches and a system of free shuttle to get there or to the city center.
Gorgeous setting and very friendly and welcoming staff
Although the hotel is situated somewhat outside the main Taormina area the friendly staff and excellent views coupled with good fare in the restaurant more than made up for the distance. The suite was comfortable and clean. I would however suggest that the shuttle service to the city centre be more frequent. We will certainly return
