very little furniture was old and battered. bed was hard and uncomfortable. breakfast was barely adequate
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the downtown. The parking is free and right in front of the hotel. The hotel is very easy to find. The young man at the front desk was very helpful during our check-in and went out of his way to answer our questions and make sure we were looked after. The internet in the front lobby is free and fast. The room that we stayed in needed a good cleaning. The bathroom was dirty and needs to be torn out and built up from scratch. Although there was a jacuzzi tub it was not clean enough to use. There was long hair on the tub and toilet and eyeliner pencil shavings in the bathroom sink. Our feet got dirty from walking around on the floor. The blinds in the kitchen were broken. There was a kettle in the kitchen but nothing else to eat with or drink from. The breakfast was basic but sufficient. The hotel is tired and needs to be fixed up. After this experience I'd sacrifice the ease of walking to the downtown and take a cleaner hotel a little further up the hill and drive/park downtown.
Simple and clean. Met expectations. Free internet and a very nice breakfast. A very good value
Had all the basics I needed, good wifi in restaurant area.Spa bath in room. Bit noisy
They made alternate accommodations in a comparable hotel one block away, at the same rate. I would have appreciated some advance notice, though, but they did take care of everything before I arrived and were helpful in letting me know the situation when I arrived. T Would have appreciated some advance notice about the hotel change.
Aviv Hotel is nearby to Central Bus Station, markets and scenic places. Its terrace has open view of Sea of Galilee. The staff is friendly and comes to serve guest in his first minutes (immediate). Only improvement needed is to clarify to guests to bring their own cooking utensils for the kitchen use. Also, Aviv serves the same food for breakfast. Blankets provided are too short and small.
view of Galilee. unexpected room upgrade!
Wonderful Experience. Beautiful Views - great service. Room was spotless and we enjoyed the view of lake Galilee,
Right on kinneret. At night it was relaxing to just hang out outside by lake Outdoor bar was closed. Far from city.
location on the Sea of Galilee only option for meals was the buffet
The hotel, location and view on the Sea Galilee.
We thought the quality of food provided was good albeit that the selection of wine was limited and several wines were not available. Our room with a very fine view overlooked the cemetary - not so good. The hotel appeared a little tired, may be because it was at the end of the season.
We were really disappointed with the hotel. Actually, we were going to stay two nights and we decided to cancel one night and to leave. The furniture and accomodation of the room was ugly. It was not absolutely the one of a 5 star hotel.
The meals were of a very high standard and the dining room was very well set up. The pool was very pleasant, the staff was very attentive and efficient.. The rooms were large, but not very well furnished.
Great location of the hotel, all bedrooms have a view on the lake. The Spa is really nice. Bedrooms and lobby are very comfortable and tidy.
Staff, location and the jacuzzi!!! The reaturant and the food ...fantastic! There is not a great beach.
Breakfast-dinner Bad attitude with staff. Overpriced! Not even a 3 star.
The location in the city was very good. Nice welcome and serviceminded staff.
the location on the boardwalk snotty staff, crummy and dirty room, nasty food
Parking for free. Good location, view on the lake. Good swimming pool (closing time 17 u)
courteous and helpful staff, beautiful views, prime location that there was nothing to complain about!! :D
The location was excellent. Breakfast was fine. The hotel was in need of a remodel -- it looked very 1970. But more importantly, the staff was downright unfriendly. While waiting on me, they interrupted service to wait on other people. They were unhelpful in addressing requests as well (bus schedule, directions). The staff seemed like we were imposing on them by paying $300 a night to stay there. The staff seemed more helpful to Israelis and to religious people. I did not observe any other Americans there. I would never stay there again, and would not recommend the hotel to others either.
View from window. The rest of are very bad! Hotel needs changes from up till down. We ask staff triple(!) to bring a bed kit to our child. Very bad staff works in breakfast time! They shout (!) on me to change chosen free (!) table - 6 pers - to another 6 pers table but not comfortable. They did not even explain why!!! Strongly recommend to avoid this hotel!
it was very dirty and not pleasant. i don't know how it became a 4 star hotel.it was not worth a penny. yes it was very dirty
massage and Spa Carpet in room was stained and worn. Elevators shoddy. Did not seem like a four star hotel. Bathroom needed caulking.
Nice loacation, city center. Pleasant room.
Easy to find, excellent location, friendly staff, clean and comfotable rooms, good view to Tiberian Sea (Kinneret), big municipal parking (payable) Few free parking lots at the hotel, small pool
We enjoyed the pool and other amenities such as the all included meals and drinks. The condition of the bathroom was poor- the tub was not properly cleaned.
the hotel was just great. the food was excellent. the staff was very nice.the next time i go to tiberias, i would definitely stay in this hotel. the only thing that was missing is group tours to nearby areas like the golan. the desk staff could not help us get a group tour to the golan and other areas nearby.
Friendly helpful staff, very good breakfast, spacious comfortable room with air con, fridge freezer and kitchenette, bathroom with walk in shower and bath, free wi-fi access, free off-road parking, and all at very good price
It is a simple hotel but pretty comfortable and with a excellent staff. The location it is also pretty good, excellent breakfast, parking and internet for a good price.
The room was air conditioned when we went in -- a blessing for hot travelers. Staff spoke reasonable English, answered questions about buses and local places to eat, and were generally very friendly. Breakfast was EXCELLENT. The Internet link to get directions did NOT give directions to the hotel. We had to drive through the city and ask questions to find it.
stuff needs an renovation
Very nice clean room, very helpfull and friendly staff. The owner was there to help helped us with anything we needed, breakfast was really good. I definitely recommend this hotel if you don't mind not staying by the water.
Very good value for money, Friendly staff, clean rooms Shower was a bit small
Location is great. Cockroaches floating here and there. But small ones - might be kids or something.
Friendly stuff and atmosphere. Although the hotel looks a bit shabby, it has everything you need for the pilgrimage to the lake of Galilee holy places.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the owner who made sure we saw the best of the area. Although it was a big hotel it hadnˇt lost its personal feel. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Air-con and everything! We were very happy and would definitily recommend a stay here.
Eli the owner was very helpful with everything we needed. Great value. Great breakfast. I would recommend The Berger to anyone who likes a hotel with comfort , location, and a big Israeli breakfast.Great for Families who need the comfort of an apartment in a hotel.
Good and valuable place to stay. Great staff and prices.
Alan Calder-McNicoll says this is a Fantastic place and Eli the ower was very friendly and helpful. would definitely go back and stay again. no
The hotel was basic but extremely clean, the service was friendly and hassle-free.
rooms were clean, dinner and breakfast buffet were plentiful and good food
what you see, is what you get. We paid 90 dollar a night. Nice small pool. Free internet in lobby. No fridge
The staying a the Astoria was excellent! The staff are all delightful and very helpful and friendly, often with a warm smile. The reception staff shared their good knowledge of the city and the neighborhood, with recommendations for sightseeing and eating. the food and pool are lovely
pleasant reception staff-Andrey.Quite a nice service in the restaurant. there is no fridge in the room
Adequate. HAd booked at Caeser hotel which was cancelled by the hotel at last minute Location
Friendly staff, not far from the city center, free parking very small rooms, the phone did not work and I could not call home, old furniture, no airconditioning in the bathroom
bathtub in the bathroom, the hotel seemed to be renovated
Staff at the Astoria Galilee were extremely helpful and courteous. While the hotel was not in the city centre, it was only a 15 minute walk downhill to get to the centre (of course, then a 15 minute walk uphill to get back to the hotel!). The rooms and common areas were very clean. On Saturday, techno music was played at the pool, which is not appealing to everyone. Perhaps music should not be played at the pool?
Swimmingpool, free internet, reasnable breakfast wirg nice salads! Rooms were pretty worn down.
not luxury-adequate--fair to good value for money
Great views from room balconies (but just few of them have it). No problems during three nights stay.
I liked its location. We were assigned room 013 and the rest of our family was in room 014. Both had a wonderful view of the Sea of Gallilee marred by ...a power line draped across it and we hated it. We were very disappointed.
Hotel was quiet and in a beautiful location.
Service, good food but kosher, and high location overlooking Sea of Galilee Too many tour buses each night descend and evenings seem crowded
We like the lac view, the room, The spa is not really a real spa: the jacuzi is small, the sauna too. There is a sauna-hammam but didn't work and nobody in the hotel knew how to put it on. But, the massage was so good and the food not so bad.
Quiet location. Good view of the Sea of Galillee even if slightly marred by the power line. Nicely renovated public areas inside hotel. Good value for the money compared to other hotels near the beach. Hotel reservation manager very service oriented. Location on top of hill requires one to take a taxi to center otherwise it takes about 20 minutes to walk down hill and walk is not very interesting. Not many other restaurant options in the area. Hotel food okay and tailored more to large tour groups. We were a group of four staying for 4 nights and were asked to move on the 4th night due to large group reservation, but luckily were able to stay after all (hotel was going to offer us free dinners to compensate and for the trouble they gave us an upgraded room with balcony). Pool area needs some upgrade. Jacuzzi and sauna nice.
Every aspect of the Golan Hotel. Nothing. Everything fits within expected from an excellent hotel.
A convenient stop for Tiberias and the north ..... The Hula Valley, Golan and Gallilee The location needed a GPS to find it
views of the beach but a half hour walk if you wanted to go there.
The pool is very nice as is the lobby balcony. Great place to rest and catch the evening breeze. The front desk staff was very surly. Downright unfriendly. Everything costs money. The internet is $8 an hour and that is the smallest amount of time you can get. Everywhere else we stayed, if they had the internet, it was free.
the hotel stafff was so helpful and friendly, we got there late at night and they offered us free drinks from the bar. They helped me half hour explaining directions and on top of it the room was spacious, nice views and breakfast was scrumptious!!
The food was amazing, but we had no idea it would be so much, maybe publishing a menu so people do not eat to much of the earlier dishes and then feel as though the 18 courses that come later will be wasted - particularly at the kiddish lunch after services on shabbos. We dealt with two staff members, only one of which was sensitive to our differing religious beliefs. The kibbutz is orthadox, but my husband and I are less religious, and though we celebrate shabbat, we were made to feel as though we were a little unwelcome by one of teh staff members becuase of our difference in observance, however, the female staff member, who was from England, was very welcoming and made us feel much more like the hotel was more broad in its ability to welcome all Jews. Perhaps the staff - if they dont' want to be outwardly welcoming, could at least hide how they feel about less observant Jews.
Great for Families
Please write at least 15 words the rooms are a good size
Friendly hotel with a warm feeling throughout
warm, jewish and koasher environment rooms a bit outdated
Friendly people and every comfort in a hotel convenient for a Galilee holiday.
The ability to visit with our Granddaughter, who is living at the Kibbutz
