An 18th century town house, this hotel and restaurant has a seasonal menu using local produce and a log fire in the cosy bar. All individually designed rooms at the Lake Isle Hotel have a TV, telephone and tea and coffee. Each private bathroom has a power shower and hairdryer, whilst some feature luxury whirlpool baths. Guests can enjoy homemade, complimentary biscuits. Situated in the centre of Uppingham, a pretty market town, the Lake Isle is just 4 miles from Rutland Water and 6 miles from Oakham. Leicester’s lively city centre and the M1 motorway are both within 25 miles. The 2 AA-Rosette Lake Isle Restaurant offers a creative menu and over 200 wines.
The location of the hotel and the breakfast was lovely!
Parking instructions weren't that clear when we phoned and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
Excellent access to the town centre. Comfortable. The restaurant looked very good but I had booked the hotel for the room only.
A small but irritating issue is I think all hotels should have free wifi it costs next to nothing to provide. Get with it Lake Isle!
The food was excellent, the hotel was quiet and mostly comfortable. The staff were helpful and for the most part charming. Lots of hot water and a good shower.
One of the beds (rm10) was seriously uncomfortable. None of the sash windows in our room (6) worked and had to be jammed up with something. There were no decent draws in which to put stuff in room 6 - which was fine for 2 nights but would have been a bore for longer, it was clean but I think was probably last decorated a long time ago.
We had a great time were well looked after and plan to visit again
Staff very efficient and the Hotel rooms very clean and all i'd expect for a standard room. Restaurant food was exeptional and anyone staying needs to book a table for dinner and not miss out on a great menu cooked with love and attention to detail.
good comfy big room and warm welcome
Everything was in good taste and well presented.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile. The food was very good indeed.
Our room was just above the kitchen and consequently a bit too warm during the night.
Nice touches such as decanter of sherry and fruit as well as the coffee/tea making facilities.
Shower pressure was rather variable.
Off the beaten track and quiet. Staff very friendly and food good.
Room on the small side and parking can be difficult
