The hotel itself is fine, and the location is great if you need to be cloe to the MECC. The hotel is horribly under-staffed, so the simplest transaction (do you have a pen I could use for a moment?) takes at least 10 minutes. Check-in took 30 minutes because there was only one person on the front desk, apparently even at the busiest times. When I asked if there was an ATM machine close by, the woman at reception answered, "I don't know. I don't use them." When I had to come to obtain a new pass key card because the first didn't work, I had to wait in line (again for over 10 minutes). Once I reached the front, it took 2 seconds to get the new card. If you value time or service, this is certainly not the hotel for you.
quiet yet good location
The attitude of the receptionist was not becoming of the warm Spanish reputation of the hotel...
It is good to reach by car. The breakfast has a lot of choice. The room was old and dirty. You have to pay for the use of extras like wifi, fitness and sauna. The first night our tv was broken and they promised us a new one. The next night we still had the old broken tv which was then, finally, replaced but this one couldnt be switched of the standby. The scrumbled eggs at the breakfast were cold. After we told the waiter, it was solved and new eggs were delivered.
convenient hotel, cleanliness, very friendly staff, great food rooms doors are slamming.
Excellent service, comfort, bus connection to city centre, and value
Cleanliness of the room and design of the room The hotel is actually far away from the centre. On booking.com, it said that it is 10 minutes to the centre, at the front desk said 25 minutes. It was also written that the hotel is right outside the centre, while you have to take the train to get to the town. I changed the hotel and chose a hotel right in the center and enjoyed my stay in Maastricht a lot anyway, despite of the bad experience with NH.
breakfast and free goodies
friendly and helpful staff
Location is bad. Out of the city with no services (bars, restaurants, etc.) around. The staff was not helpful. The internet is really bad. Take only rooms with breakfast included because it will be impossible to have breakfast close to the hotel.
The breakfast was great, lots of fresh products, we even skipped lunch after all. Also the beds and pillows were very good; slept like a baby :-). It was a pity that the room didn't have a bathtub, just a shower was available.
The Spa and hotel facilities all under one roof
February is a quiet month in which you can enjoy all the water and heat in a very comfortable way. Themae 2000 is build on a beautiful spot, it supplies views and it is surrounded with some impressive big trees. The building is a great design and the sauna's are among the best in the lowlands! The system with a keycard for the door and a paper card with your roomnumber for the restaurant does not work. You have to take both into the spa. Apparently the staff is working on this problem. I hope they will develop or purchase a system with a wristband or a pin that opens your door and can be used in the restaurants and does not show your roomnumber. I don't get it why you have to get dressed when you want to be into the swimmingpool area.
it is a wellness hotel which means you relax and enjoy the tropical surroundings, warm water and spa treatments
clean, calm and relaxed nature of the hotel and facilities. Not being able to make a tea or coffee in the rooms.
Love going to breakfast in a robe and not putting on real clothes the entire stay! Liked being able to use spa, robe and towel even after check out.
Relaxing in the SPA, enjoying healthy food and visiting the village. Carpet on the floor. The room was clean but the terrace was dirty. Staff not always responding to the client's needs. Old fashion rooms and bed not really confortable.
Everything was wonderful, we enjoyed hanging out in our pool-bath robes. It was a very relaxing get-a-away. Staff was great. We will return
A very comfortable hotel with a fantastic breakfast
It was very busy and could have used more staff on duty, some staff in the restaurant areas could be a bit friendlier, although others were very good. would be nice to also have hot water pool on the 'sauna' side
Wonderful facilities, efficient staff and good food. We have been going to Thermae 2000 for 5 years and it has never disappointed. Much better than equivalent British spas.
swimming pool over priced for the quality of the room
Really nothing Very applicable!!A misearable room,no services, old and weary towels,no tissues paper,no room service.Maybe can be considered as two star hotel!!!!
This hotel was awesome. My family and I stayed in a family room that was pefect. It was close to downtown, the shopping, and the Christmas Markets. The staff is very friendly and most speak multiple languages. Breakfast Buffett was also good and worth the 12.5 pp. The restaraunt is very pricey.....plan to eat diner else where if you are looking for value.
the room we were upgraded to was excellent, the receptionist who delt with our complaint about the original room was excellent. the room we were given to begin with was way below standard and if we had had to stay in that room and not have the option of upgrading it would have turned a very good stay into a very bad one
The reception staff is helpful. There is no refrigerator and smoking smell in non-smoking room.
the spa and the swiming pool room to small, no internet conection, a bit rundown
Swimming pool/spa While in a non-smoking room, the corridor we had to use to get to our room stunk of cigerette/cigar smoke.
Swimmingpool is very nice.Breakfest was excellent. Familyrooms for stay with children. Why did you not mention that slippers and bathrobe are obligatory and that you have to pay 12 € to rent it.Idem parking 5€ per night
Location excellent None
convenient location and excellent breakfast. Room was comfortable. Carpets in corridors were not clean, room was a bit dusty. Ridiculous price for internet connection. The whole place apart from restaurant needs tidying up, and perhaps re-design.
They know well what hospitality means and they are generous in on-the-house offerings. We were glad to get little extras that we weren't expecting. The pillows were not comfortable to sleep on, and the promised double bed was in fact two twins put together.
nice location, nice breakfast, fun atmosphere, rooms ok
The feeling of hospitality in the Mabi hotel is great. In the afternoon there is complimentary coffee/tea and cake and in the evening wine and snacks. This means that everybody does use the 'salon' and that improves the atmosphere. The artwork in the hotel is great. I would stay again and recommend others to do so.
Great value for money and good location, underground parking close by. A cosey hotel with good staff I will stay again.
The staff were very welcoming. All the staff were polite and helpful. The babysitter was excellent and the service allowed us some free time. The hotel was well situated and the history of the hotel made it an interesting place to stay. Parking instructions could be made clearer on the hotel's web page.
Very central, easy to find from the train station and close to all we need.
Breakfast and service
Location was perfect for a city trip. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was far better than what we had expected! And the bowls with sweets next to the reception :o) The room had not been aerated before we came and it was a little bit stuffy. After aerating it for 15 minutes it was all good. Given we were told that the rooms were being checked when we arrived and that we therefore couldn't check-in yet, I would have expected that rooms would also be aerated. We had a room on the third floor and the hall in front of the elevator had a very strong smell. It's not a big downside but a little annoyance when you are waiting for the lift and when you get out of it.
Room was perfect, very comfortable, very clean. Slightly boring, but hey, your typical hotel room. Staff was very nice and the hotel is in a really great location. I think for the price of a single stay it's expensive since breakfast is not included. All hotels in Maastricht are expensive, I know (why, I wonder), but I thing it's a bit too much. Not even tea facilities in your room? City tax applied on top of the price etc etc.
Friendly helpful staff, good selection of food at breakfast. It is 13 euro but buffet style so eat all you want. Free wireless internet a big plus. No restaurant but several within 2 minutes walk. Comfortable bed in a room that was certainly large enough for a solo traveler. Hotel is on a quiet street close to several Maastricht attractions. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again. No heat in the private bathroom. No air conditioning (could be a factor in the summer).
Large junior apartment suite was well furnished, including well equipped kitchenette. Grounds were nicely done and provided a very peaceful setting. "King bed" was really 2 twin beds stuck together.
The grounds and the facilities were beautiful. I would have liked the breakfast to be included in the price of the room.
spa facilities and the luxurious feeling of the room (we got an upgrade to a suite appartment) two barking dogs in the room next to us
Your booking.com reservation did not come through: there was none! What happened with the reservation?
The apartments were well appointed, restaurant excellent, and the grounds beautiful. A bit of an effort to get to without a car, although the shuttle service to Maastricht station was very welcome. Staff very helpful and attentive. Also very interesting with St Gerlach's chapel and museum on the grounds. Stairs in the apartment were quite steep, if you are at all incapacitated ask for a ground floor room.
great staff, always willing to help with even the most ridiculous requests...bistro dinner and buffet breakfasts were great
gardens, buildings, rooms, restaurants, staff, setting in the countryside, all excellent. no
excellent renovation and architecture, very nice surroundings the hotel could use a full time concierge. the information given by the receptionists was not accurate, and kind of ruined our night (wanted to go to valkenburg christmas opening and told us that it was not open. Stayed in the hotel and missed the opening of the Christmas fair and the fireworks)
The junior suite was a private as your own appartment Nothing
Nice environment Nice dining room Good food Room is not confortable Old fashioned Too dark
Breakfasts were excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lounge, breakfast room and bar area were beautifully decorated, and it was lovely to have a space where one could sit and relax. Smoking is still allowed in public areas in the Netherlands, and as non-smokers we found this a problem- unfortunately the smell from the bar travelled all the way up to the room (on the top floor).
We picked this hotel because we wanted to be near the town centre for the christmas markets, the hotel was perfect and we would stay there again.
Very Convenient, good off road parking, good value breakfast
The very friendly and helpful staff, all of them, you should be congratulated on your staff training! The breakfast was OK but having to walk all the way to the buffet and back to your table was a bit much. Could the breakfast bar not be in the middle of the vast room? The dreadful music, a bit thighclapping and hopsa heisa.
when I came from out side at 4 pm the room door was opened and the towels not change the bath romm was not cleaan.
The addition of evening entertainment was a bonus
Quiet environmen, but close to transport. Yes, lack of internet. Only one computer terminal available for the whole hotel. Wireless network would be ideal,
Management and staff very helpful with particular praise towards bar staff for their good humour and making a party atnosphere
Information on train service, local site seeing / walk tour map, etc. Should allow guest to use atleast two hours after check-in time, if required.
Convenient in terms of transport and the counter service is good. The bartender is entertaining. Poor facilities such as no curtain in the bathroom - the floor is wet after bath; no internet connection, no water boiler in the room; I would rather to pay more to have these basic facilities.
Hotel's close proximity to Valkenburg rail station and city Centrum and free vehicle parking in a private lot at the hotel. Bathroom was clean. Most staff was friendly and helpful. Room and hallways in our wing of the hotel had a decidedly musty smell. Hotel should add some security to its one guest-accessible internet computer; a user (probably a guest's kid) apparently had been able to switch the default wallpaper to an inappropriate and offensive image.
Very effective heating ! Friendly and helpful staff Bed linen was clean, but a little discoloured
The new building is pleasant, nice rooms and bathrooms. In the older part of hotel the rooms are not so charming. Good selection for breakfast.
The braekfast was good. The room was bright, clean, and roomy. The bathroom was clean and modern with plenty of hot water. The hotel is real close to the train station. I would stay there again. Not much I didn't like.
First I was given the key to an already occupied room. Then I was given a room on the first floor - very loud, and not secure (windows open onto the flat roof, accessible to other guests.)
You get buffet breakfast and its only 10 min walk to the nearest train station The service wasn't good. I had no t.v in the room, had to ask 4 times! and it took 2 days!
The araff were nice Very old, need to make renovating in the breakfast and dining room
friendlystaff location clean and tidy room good chioce of breakfast no
The bedroom, the hotel staff and the location of the hotel, which was perfect because it was only a 10 minutes' walk to the train station and it is just 20 minutes from Maastricht. The restaurant. You are not able to order your dinner a la carte. Only a 3 meal-menu.
Good location, close to train station. Decent breakfast. As expected for what we paid. Room door lock was not secure. The lobby was full of cigarette smoke. No front desk staff at 7:15am when we wanted to check out.
The hotel staff, which was very friendly and helpful. I stayed in this hotel for the second time. The first time I had a room in the new part of the hotel. This time I had a room in the old part. The rooms in the old part are very small and not so comfortable as the new ones.
Pleasant service and atmosphere, set menu dinner was good value Excessive street noise from local bars probably due to Hollands participation in UEFA football
The breakfast, the place where hotel is situated ( very near center but no noise), small hotel We were surprised by small size of the room. This is also reason why we find value for money "fair".
Wished we could have stayed longer, wonderful hotel really cosy, clean and welcoming, continental breakfast was huge.
Dinner (Menu) was excellent! The location is the centre of the city, and it was very quiet. The toillet and the shower cabin don't have enough space. Man feels very tight.
Friendly receptionist. Pre - arranged parking. Good breakfast. Good central position to the town centre. Rather tired decoration in our family room. Cramped with adition of bunk beds which had no ladder, or side bar to prevent a child from falling out (would not have been suitable if our children had been younger). Given one bottle of shower gel for 4 of us (to shower with each twice !) This hotel was expensive for an overnight stay, it had rather off putting list of 'rules' in the welcome brochure in the room and was old fashioned in its attitude to families
Vey friendly staff - When I asked at the reception I they had toothpaste as I had forgotten mine, they unfortunately didn't have any (in a 4 star hotel ????), but the friendly barman/receptionist gave me a tube of his own to help me out. Breakfast was crowded, but very good The room wasn't just small as advertised, but very small The tv was also tiny - so small that it was difficult to see the programme. There was no shower curtain/glass and you could only shower by holding the showerhead as there was no wall fitting to hang it on. Overall, we didn't think that the hotel was deserving of a four star rating - At the most a low 3
Located very close to town centre.Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.Rooms comfortable.Good breakfast. We stayed at the weekend and had a room at the front of the hotel, noise from the road outside, both traffic and revellers, went on tll quite late.
Nice staff Room rather basic
Staff very friendly and approachable. Breakfast service excellent. Lack of air conditioning was a problem. As was the location of the room on the first night (facing on to the main road). The temperature was very high and when the windows were opened the noise was incredibly loud. Although, it should be noted that when we requested a room change, this request was met.
The place Valkenburg Bussy traffic in front
location, everything we required very close by
The location and staff were excellent. The breakfast was very nice including breads, meats cheese and cereals. There also was a cappucino machine which was a plus.
Quaint and comfortable
The hotel was very convenient for a car show that we were attending. Unfortunately our stay in early July coincided with a heatwave and the lack of air-conditioning made it very difficult to get a good night's sleep, despite being loaned a fan for some of the time.
the relatively low price it is a four starr hotel, but when you use the television set in the room at normal volume, the neigbor starts instantaneously to knock on your door due to too much noise in his/her (in this case: her) room; the floor of my room was skewed (different levels at different sides of the room); the room had no window, but only a balcony door with a rather small window in it; all by all not the level of comfort you would expect from a 4 starr hotel!
The hotel facilities and the room are nice and the hotel is very clean. Free parking. It is a bit far from the city centre. No problem if you have a car (the hotel has a free parking) but it can be annoying if you don't. The wireless connection in the hotel was not free - no big deal but rather unusual.
Very helpful staff, although not too knowledgable about the neighbourhood. It was quite dusty.
The lobby was nice. I wanted to have two days with sauna to relax. You offered the hotel with sauna but I had no saune. Than I found pornojournals in the room.I Asked coming from shower to bring me batteries for the tv guidance- the personal told me to wear clothes and come down myself! No water on the room, no minibar and no sauna!
That I was able to have diner even at 20.30 in the Bar.
Good hotel, spacious bathroom. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was excellent! The lack of a fridge in the standard rooms is annoying
The staff was great, quiet room, had a very nice stay. too far from centrum to reasonably walk.
Check-in: friendly, professional. Room and bathroom large, spotlessly clean. Breakfast: wonderful, at 12.50 Euro value for money. Free parking is nice. Would stay there again. It is about 45 minutes walking from downtown, and taxis not always available quickly. For us, walking was no problem, but may be for those who prefer to be closer to the touristy part of Maastricht.
very clean and comfortable, nice environment, reasonable price it is too far away from the city centre and there is no supermarket/restaurant nearby, there is a bus which stops in front of the hotel but it only goes every half an hour
Excelent bar with very good staff. Reception efficient and friendly for both check-in and check-out
The helpful way the staff dealt with the overbooking problem and the quality of the (upgraded) rooms we were allocated on the second night. Yes. In spite of having received a booking confirmation at the time I booked, the hotel had no record when we arrived. The hotel was fully booked. However, the hotel staff provided us with immediate (complimentary) refreshments and set about trying to find us alternative rooms for the first night. This was in a newly rerfurbished hotel in Valkenburg. Although the rooms were clean, furniture was limited to beds and a single chair only. No TV or even simple wall pictures. One of the rooms did not even have a wardrobe or anywhere to hang clothes. This was only acceptable to us since there was nothing else available in Valkenburg on one of their busiest days of the year. I would like an explanation of how this problem could have occured.
Suitable as a base for touring south east Holland or across the border into Germany Picturesque area. No evening meals available.
Location, the appartment new and big,the staff,. No internet. No telephone.Overpriced for such hotel.
Breakfast. The room's are nothing like the photo's shown on the NET.The room,s we were given were classed as doubles/twin to me all they were good enough for was over night stay, you could not realy unpack due to lack of wardrobe space, there was no where to sit but on the bed.
It is situated in the centre. It was rather noisy.
Excellent and helpful staff, good spoken English which was a bonus for non-Dutch speakers. Central location did make it noisy at weekends (from outside, not the hotel guests).
The hotel is very bad. No soap and shampoo in the shower and no track of hair-dryer in the bathroom. The staff is no kind and they have no competences in problem solving.
The staff were very friendly and the quality of food was excellent. Initially we were given a room where the previous guests had smoked, but on request we were moved to a non-smoking room.
Breakfast was excellent;the bar was very comfortable. The internet was not working and there was little interest in fixing the problem for us.
Breakfast, nice room and beds I had to shower very carefully, otherwise the bathroom would easily get wet.
friendlliness and helpful staff.
Good location Beds were twin and not double. Room temperature was too cold
-We had asked for a non-smoking room, but didn´t get it initially. After pleading they switched rooms and we got it. -In the middle of the night a lot of noice from other gasts coming in, talking very loud, bouncing on the wooden stairs. This was in a timeframe of 2 hours!
Service, Staff, food etc
breackfast very good, very friendly and attentive staff no, all was very good
Clean, cosey hotel. Perfect for a walk around the Valkenburg centrum.
Extremely friendly staff, absolutely superb breakfast, and so close to the train station. This place was really good, I would highly recommend.
The location was very convenient botht to the main railway station and the town center. Parking facilities were good and the hotel was esy to locate. The room was equipped with a refrigerator for personal use. Rather inefficient. We waited for several hours for room service to dry clothes. Later we were dealy 20 mins. since we could not exit the underground carpark. The breakfast is extremely expensive. The room lacked storage for clothes. There were a few draws but no cupboards with shelves to allow you to unpack for a longer stay.
Room was excellent - nicely appointed and very comfortable. The restaurant was empty - was this a piblic statement or because of the atrocious weather? Limited menu.
Hotel rooms were of good size and clean breakfast was expensive and average
Staff always pleasant - food good Only one english TV channel and old style TVs that you get interference from your phone on every few minutes
The ability to enjoy some peace and quiet - I slept well after a nerve-wracking previous month! Probably the requirement to pay at the end. No free rooms, damn it!
Excellent location, being good for both the city centre and the train station. Good bar and restaurant. Standard of the deluxe room was good. Bonus was the hotel swimming pool. Reception area is a little on the shabby side (although the other common areas are reasonable).
Proximity of the train station no value for the money. Too much noice from the bus station. Outdated room interior.
Location, parking lot, rooms were comfortable enough Rooms and rest of the hotel were not really in-line with eachother. Rooms surprisingly updated, rest of the hotel was slightly out-dated
Comfortable bed, good bathroom, fully equipped bedroom (bureau, wardrobe, lounge chairs, tea & coffee etc) - all I would expect in a hotel room. Decor is minimal but functionality is complete. Quiet decor - no self-conscious tacky "designer" rubbish that one sees too often these days. Ideal location for train, city centre and business. Warm, friendly, helpful staff. This is a place where one can rest or work in comfort. I have stayed here before and will stay here again. This time I was here on business but my wife also joined me, and is full of praise for the place. What's not to like? (Note for below questions: I have not read the guest reviews but there is no "Don't know" response button. So I have put "Yes".) In "reason for choosing", I would pick all of them, so have entered "other".
Dinner and the excellent service Checking out was difficult as the noon deadline was not flexible. My wife had to clear out and wait elsewhere for me to return from my meeting.
The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel is perfectly located in the city center with dozens of restaurants at a rocks throw away.
Good location in the city center. Just a hundred meter to the castle ruin and cableway, few minutes to get street with many restorants. Room was species, very comfortable and clean. Parking ability is close to the hotel (public, free at night). very helpful personal. Good ratio between price and the quality. Not so rich breakfast. Just a few choice but price is equal (just 5 Euro or something like that).
We found the hotel and personnel very positive and helpful. We will stay again at some point.
staff were very friendly and all spoke good english. felt that did not get great value for money. essentially payed 190 euro's a night for a big room, which was advertised as a junior suite. no tea or cofee and the bed was two pushed together with two single quilts.not very romantic!! no problems with the staff and location was good!!
Good central location, extremely friendly staff, everything worked, everybody was helpful and friendly. Limited breakfast selection, it is not as close to the castle as it looks on the picture (not that this would be an advantage).
good organized, all formalities for check-in were already prepared. excellent service, kitchen and quality of food
The staff were friendly and helpful
The buffet had a large array of foods. They gave our three year old a toy (rubber ducky) which she loved. The hotel was close to the Valkenburg caves. We walked easily there. Dated furniture, non-working radio. Room-service only could offer tomato soup and french fries.
Location to the Valkenburg shopping/restaurant areas. The breakfast meal price was included in the room, but the breakfast itself was very short on imagination and food.
Great (&fast & efficient) reception & welcome; parking excellent; room comfy & cosy None
Extremely beautiful hotel. Helpful and friendly staff.
The location of the hotel
the people were most accomodating. Excellent service and a wonderful attitude ! in general, hotels in Europe are quite expensive in comparison to US hotels.
The view from the hotel was amazing
The bed and bath was fabulous! Our room wasn't ready when we arrived.
Excellent location. Clean rooms. Good quality shampoo etc. Not very good value for money. The hotel is fine, but overpriced. I found the bedsheets to be tough. Bathroom could do with an upgrade. For this price I don't expect a loose toilet seat.
it is location .. close to city center .. and it is breakfast buffet very good ..
Location to town centre Cost of internet too high. Many hotels now offer free internet access
Location To much noise from breakfeast area in the room
