Peace Lodge - Vara Blanca - Bedroom

9.6 Excellent (188 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Peace Lodge in Vara Blanca, you'll be on the boardwalk, within a 15-minute drive of La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Poas Volcano National Park. Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best hotel I ever stayed in! Not just luxurious, but it is also so tastefully designed with eye for detail. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms are absolutely breathtaking. Staying at the lodge gives you free access to the park, also before opening and after closure, which basically makes it feel like a private garden. The kids loved the animals, especially the feeding of the hummingbirds, the butterflies and the jungle cats. We were also lucky enough to be let into the sloth residence. At night there’s a frog tour. The waterfalls are also very pretty to walk by. The pools are also very nice, but don’t expect a huge pool for kids with slides etc. Be aware that the lodge is at around 1300 meter elevation so it can get a little chilly. When we were there it was mostly cloudy so we couldn’t see the volcano. The peace lodge is obviously expensive, but if you can afford it, it’s definitely worth the experience!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peace lodge is out of this world. The service from every employee was top rate; the was food delicious, reasonably priced, and beautifully presented; the property ground and amenities were vast and perfectly kept. We could not have imagined a more wonderful stay while in Costa Rica.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an incredible stay. The deluxe rooms are stunning: full of lovely little touches and surprises. Wonderful idea to have hummingbird feeders on the balcony! And a tub overlooking the jaw-dropping view of the rainforest. The staff are super professional and really warm and friendly. Great food in the restaurants, too. The kids loved getting up close with the animals and birds in the sanctuary, and feeding them
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is fabulous! The room is just heavenly with a gaz fire place and waterfall in an incredible bathroom. The different hot/cold pools that we had entirely to ourselves even in January was perfection. We came here straight from the airport on our first day. Within minutes we were totally relaxed, the terrible Air Iberia flight far behind us. Food is excellent! Staff wonderful. Totally worth spending that extra bit compared to other places. The wake up to a walk down to the waterfalls and the animals was just a treat. What a way to start our trip!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is wonderful, it’s our 3rd year in a row visiting the peace lodge. They treated us well for our anniversary with a bottle of champagne and strawberries! We love the walking trails, the animals and the restaurants on the property
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is amazing with all the hikes and the La Paz Waterfall. Loved the zoo! Our room had an amazing view and we enjoyed the outdoor tub so much! We caught trout in their pond twice and they cooked it up for us. Delecious and so much fun!!!
Cons: The food in the resturants was just ok and very pricey. So were the drinks. We brought bottles of wine with us so it was nice to have that on hand. The staff in the resturants were kinda strange and not very helpful or attentive. They stood in the corner and talked a lot. So we just got room service.
Poas Volcano Lodge - Vara Blanca - Bedroom
2
9.2 Excellent (274 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Vara Blanca, Poas Volcano Lodge is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Corso Lechería and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, laundry facilities, and a library. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfy and the main hotel areas are very cosy. Breakfast was good and we ate in the restaurant for dinner which was also very good. The hotel grounds are very pretty with a couple of walking trails. It's in a beautiful secluded location which is very peaceful but perhaps less convenient if you don't have a car. The hotel helped arrange transfers to Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfall. Although the transfers were quite expensive the driver was lovely and extremely informative. Overall a very pleasant stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were really nice and spacious and the views were gorgeous. I really liked the open spaces, the on-site trails and the helpfulness of the staff. The common areas were also very nice and with the front door to the main office always open, it felt very inviting and welcoming to go in and out as you needed. The breakfast was wonderful. The fresh fruit was delicious and the from the kitchen menu items were as well. The pancakes especially!! I really liked that they made sure to ask how many were in our party and endured that we always had a table arrangement that could include everyone comfortably. A really great lodge to stay at. We also enjoyed the on-site trails, the variety in selection was great for the various members of our party.
Cons: The items I "did not like" really only added to the charm of the location. It's more like a list of items you may want to be aware of when you book. There is single dirt road going in and out of the property, so be sure not to leave anything behind. You have to pass a herd of livestock on your way in but mainly they are always in their pin, only once were they in transition the same time as us but they pretty much know to stay on the side of the road. When walking the trails be aware that some of the fences are electrical so DO NOT TOUCH. Lastly, there are some stray cats that walk the property (rarely seen during the day) that occasionally come to your window/door in the middle of the night to serenade you out of sleep, LOL. But if you have a joyful personality and a fun loving attitude, the Costa Rican Aristocats will be a welcomed addition to your Costa Rica memory bank.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel property, really good located if you want to visit the volcano. But a bit far from San José
Cons: Price quality ratio expensive. No warm water during most part of the day, for most Costa Rica not a problem but seen the price of the hotel and the cold location ...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice quite place
Cons: Dinner and the noise (no isolation between rooms we could hear everything that happened in the other room)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people that work there are awesome! Enjoyed visiting POAS Volcano, La Paz Waterfall and Gardens and Mi Caficito coffee plantation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our room , beautiful garden view, wonderful tasty well priced food in restaurant . Great touch of a hot water bottle in your bed at night . Super breakfast. Would stay again .

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and we were have been able to check in late (approx 11pm) without issues. The view from the balcony was beautiful, we really enjoyed taking our breakfast there. The property is only 30min away from the airport but far enough to start our trip in Costa Rica by a nice immersion into the nature.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: View from the balcony was spectacular. Restaurant is really good, pizzas are huge. Staff was friendly and spoke a good English.
Cons: Hot water was not reliable. We arrived too late to enjoy the swimming pool so we can’t judge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect spot / great authentic italian food
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff kindness Position/view
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived by bicycle and were able to store our tandem on our patio overlooking the valley. I wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived, but the room was perfect: roomy, comfortable, hot water shower, large patio with an excellent view of the valley. There's a lovely pool we did not end up using. The restaurant on site, Pura Italia, was a real treat - wood oven pizza and homemade pasta. Breakfast was very good and served right in our room.
Cons: It's best to have a car if you want other food options. There's nothing in walking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view, the service (very helpfull to get me to Poas vulcano), the breakfast in the room. Swimmingpool, and pizzeria. Very good food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pura Italia provides a clean, comfortable room in a very pretty setting. We really enjoyed the economic and delicious fresh breakfast which they brought to our room each morning. The staff was very pleasant. You can see that they work hard to keep the place clean. We had a large bathroom, hot water, small refrigerator. There is a large pleasant swimming pool as well.
Cons: If you plan to arrive after dark, you might check with the hosts for directions on how to get into the property to meet with them. If you like big fluffy pillows, you might take your own.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to everything I need to do in San Jose
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The art was very interesting and we would have enjoyed staying for two or three days The staff was very nice, the entire facility is very clean, and the breakfast was very good.
Cons: Shower has low water pressure
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Art
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor and art work is very upscale, great price, exceptional clean and modern. The bathroom has glassware not paper or plastic cups, blow dryer and nice towels. The coffee for a hotel was phenomenal. The bed was extremely comfortable. Was very quiet, and TV had great chanel options for English speaking and sports. The breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: No transferse available. I needed a transfer. No microwave or bath robe. But didn't need it anyway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We like everything about this property. There were very few guests during our stay during this time of COVID 19. We almost never saw anyone else and the staff treated us like royalty. They were very atune to sanitary considerations and we felt very safe staying here.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel upon our arrival in Costa Rica. The breakfast is of good quality and the personel is here to help. Close to the airport although taxi drivers charge 30 USD to bring us here (15 min drive only) which is bit expensive
Cons: Wifi connection could be improved in the room
7.1 Good
Pros: Tasteful decorum, comfortable beds, good size room, nice pool and bar on the 3rd floor. The breakfast tasted really nice and the coffee is probably the best filter coffee I ever had, but at the breakfast I'd stay away from anything not cooked (I suspect the little cups of fruit and yogurt)
Cons: I got food poisoning at the breakfast at this hotel which basically made me miss an entire day of my vacation. This is the reason why I treated cleanliness very low. The room was very clean though, but the fact that I got food poisoning is unacceptable. Though the staff was attentive no real apology was offered. I had to ask for the room service chicken soup and Coke to be credited off my bill (which they immediately did).
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Great hospitality, stuff was great, services included more than expected. Keep up the good job guys, looking forward to get back here soon !!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a great place to go after landing at the airport.
Cons: I liked the restaurant in the front.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was included and the bed was very comfortable.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. The restaurant was delicious for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good from the staff to the facility to the dining room no complaint
Cons: Spend more time. The only thing is that we only state for 3 nights only due to the covid -19 now we e-mail you about it and never reply back try to talk to the staff in the hotel and they said they do it with you approval see we got an e-mail from southwest that unless we change the fly date they can't guaranteed our seats I got no choice but to change the date they said after this weekend no more flying to USA at least for a month or longer see we can't take that chance hope you understand thaks

5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location. Friendly staff.
Cons: Missing basic room supplies. Shower dangerous in design - left pools of water on bathroom floor. Included breakfast was meager and not kept well supplied, unlike past years we have stayed here. Room decor stark and room echos.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mattress, pillows, cleanliness, wifi, breakfast buffet, and friendly staff.
Cons: Wished they sold wine in their store as they do beer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very close to airport so great for coming in late or leaving early. Good breakfast and rooms are spacious and very clean. Hotel staff very welcoming.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this now premium travel hotel is fantastic. Expensive but everything you need as a transit hotel.
Cons: Have stayed many tines, but unfortunately last night the first I have been addressed by a sour, unfriendly and frankly rude female receptionist. Shame on her. Really put a negative stamp on my stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazingly helpful staff. The shuttle was continually running and prompt. I had a hard time ordering pizza for delivery using Uber eats due to language. Staff helped me so it and was patient and smiled the whole time! Felt completely safe as woman traveling solo.
Cons: Could’ve had coffee out for those early flights. Not the full breakfast, but just the coffee station would be nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location near airport
7.0 Good
Pros: Spacious and very nice rooms , provision of 24 hour coffee and good breakfast
Cons: There was only one issue, there were two large beds in room , unfortunately when I pulled back covers on one bed there was a clump of human hair which was not very nice. I reported this to the cleaning manager who promptly attended and was very apologetic, and said he would investigate issue.
7.0 Good
Pros: Close to airport
Cons: Under remodeling and noises from jackhammer
7.9 Good
Pros: Near airport
Cons: Staff was excellent. Hotel nice but more than twice as expensive as a similar hotel I stayed at in San Jose a week earlier which had slightly better facilities and a better breakfast.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean, good location
Cons: We asked for quiet room and ended up by elevator that made noises each time it was used.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: easy check in and friendly staff. The breakfast is also very good and well prepared. Hats of to the cooking staff.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love staying at the Hampton in San Jose. It's real close to the Airport and the service we received is above expectations. They answered all our questions we had . I would recommend this place over and over again. See you again next year.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is wonderful! The linens, breakfast, cheese and wine in the evening...all first rate quality! A few minutes from car rental and airport and with dining next door-it works so well for me!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We got in late to San Jose so we like the name/brand recognition & convenience to the airport. The facility was clean, people friendly & helpful & the breakfast good. We think it was a little overpriced for the room but the breakfast made up for it, it was a very good breakfast, comprehensive & the service/attendant was great.
Cons: The hotel is a little "dated." It could use a little spruce up. It smells a little. Musty/musky. Hallway carpeting? Get rid of ALL the carpet! But, it was CLEAN. Very important.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Shuttle made it convenient to head to the airport. Also appreciated that we could exchange US dollars for CR colones at the front desk.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was so comfortable, pillows perfect for us. Everything was clean. Pool was clean with lots of towels, seating. Staff very accommodating. Nice end to our vacation
Cons: The room door tended to slam shut if you weren't careful when letting the door close. This was for all the rooms so ended up hearing a few loud bangs over the course of our stay. But I think it may be necessary for security to ensure the doors closed behind clients
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: No

8.0 Excellent

3.7 Mediocre
Pros: The beds,work comfortable
Cons: Major sewage problem, breakfast issues and staff unwilling to help with excursions or seeming to have a problem ordering takeout for guest!! I requested to speak with the wonder, no success.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed here 3-4 times so far. It's my go-to when I arrive Costa Rica and depart. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are very clean, I wanted to take the bed with me - very comfortable! I have only tried the New York Strip and tiramisu - both amazing. A great quiet little hotel.
Cons: Very very strict on their 11 am check-out time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfortable and clean. Room was handicap accessible. All systems worked well. Toilets were silent type. Ample hot water. Staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel continues to be our go to place when staying in the Central Valley and a very good value. Hotel owner was flexible when we had a change of plans due to the virus.`
Cons: Beds were a bit too soft for our taste. This is a personal preference. I am sure for others the beds would be fine.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very good rooms. We liked ist very much. I can recommend. Ist was nice and a lot of Space in the Suite.
Cons: Our room was a little loud. I don’t know maybe a AC from the neighbor suite. Maybe I am too sensitive with noises. Staff could have given a smile while checking in but in these special days I can totally understand that everyone is stressed and overworked!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean and simple. Nice pool. Comfy soft bed.
Cons: HOWEVER the description says ten minutes to airport. It's completely not true. It was about 45 minutes to airport at 5:30 am. If it were traffic it would be longer then an hour to drive to the airport.

Pros: Reasonably close to airport. Check in staff helpful & friendly.
Cons: Breakfast could have been a bit better.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Close location to airport and free airport shuttle.
Cons: Bed sheets were not clear. Furniture in room were dusty.
7.7 Good
Pros: Perfect hotel for the money. We had three rooms, all with two queen beds for only $92 per room. The staff was exceptionally friendly, the pool and gardens are nice, and the restaurant was one of the best meals throughout our trip. Airport shuttle was on time even with our 3:30am pickup.
Cons: The shower has soap/shampoo and conditioner (I think) attached to the wall. I'll probably avoid the "conditioner" if I stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the shuttle service to airport worked great
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Good restaurant with variety of options. Shuttle was very efficient. Great WiFi.
Cons: Open air so floors etc were a bit dusty. Pool didn't tempt us.
7.0 Good
Pros: Proximity to airport was perfect. It was like a little oasis next to the factory/warehouse district near airport.
Cons: The airport shuttle ran only every hour. We were hoping for more shuttles. Once there, especially without a car, the restaurant is the only eating option. While convenient, it's expensive and average.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: gardens
Cons: Gardens, location, hospitality, convenience, rest.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice Ambiente. Good Restaurant en Site. Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Good WiFi. We will be back.
Cons: Showers are difficult to work. A bit tricky to find if you drive your own car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gardens- even though really near the airport
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The swimming pool and gardens. Breakfast OK
Cons: The staff on the front desk were the worst we have ever come across. It started when they made it clear that they they did not give a flying fug about the promised transfer from the airport not arriving - this nearly lead to us being mugged and cost us money. Simply NOT bothered. It was also the same with any simple request for advice - "Don't bother us, we couldn't give a fug!" Poor introduction to CR (and we didn't find this in any of the other places we stayed in CR). Needs new management.

7.5 Good
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere in a quiet area
Cons: Hotel showing some signs of its age but still very comfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a nice boutique hotel feel, although there seem to be many rooms. Restaurant on site. it's on the top of a hill, overlooking the city. Good value for money.
Cons: The tour I had booked with the hotel never showed up. I ended up ordering an Uber both ways and touring San José by myself. The restaurant is nothing fancy, and the wine list barely average. It's kinda far from anywhere, so a car is necessary. Overall it feels somewhere between colonial and needing to be refurbished a bit. The transfer from the airport is 40 USD, and it's overpriced.

Pros: The flat screen, furniture and breakfast food.
Cons: My reservation had breakfast included, they gave me a room without breakfast, without confirming. I found out until later when I went to eat the next morning. The receptionist got mad when we could not find the room, so she had to get up and guide me, you could see it in her face, she wasn't happy. Plus everything in the room had sounds, the door, the bed, the bathroom door, the fan, everything. It's like staying at an old house below (u guessed it) their bar... awful

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a boutique feel to it but everything is also clean and in very good condition unlike some other rustic/boutique hotels I've stayed at. It's located on a hillside and has amazing views in all 4 directions. Great outdoor seating options and a nice pool. Also a lovely indoor lounge with fireplace and a quaint restaurant and bar. The rooms and bed were huge too, I was completely shocked at how nice it was for the minimal price I paid for a weeknight stay. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful, even helped me print my boarding pass before checking out. Would definitely stay here again!
Cons: Honestly can't think of anything I didn't like about this place.

Cons: Place
8.0 Excellent
Pros: it was in a great location being a five minute ride to the airport. The manager took me in her car as a bonus and out of her kindness. Friendly staff. The place was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again the next time I go to Costa Rica and need a place close to the airport. I travel there every winter and have never found an airport hotel that was this nice for the money, so I highly recommend it. A great value for the price.

Pros: They accommodated our very late check in. The rooms were huge and clean. The complimentary breakfast was amazing. The grounds were very nice. The staff was great. Each time I emailed, before the trip, I got a very quick response.
Cons: No hot water for the shower. It was hot for a few seconds, then cold for the rest.

Pros: The prosciutto pizza and the zoo across the street but That's it.
Cons: This hotel is so falsely advertised it's disturbing and the entire property looks to be in disrepair . the first room we booked in the villa was Dark, old musty and dusty smelled like an antique shop so we had to request another option. Ths second room option we saw was upstairs in the villa Had only one old queen size bed in a room with no air-conditioning and in the room that had the air conditioning next to it was an old dirty couch that pulled out into a bed and only had one uncovered piece of foam as a mattress. My daughter saw the foam and said Mommy I can't sleep on that . Finally they said they had a room in a newer building yet it had no decorations no toiletries old bedding dirty walls in the bathroom and old uncomfortable beds. Their website & Name suggest a luxurious Spa that only has one maybe two practitioners working at any given point in time. Still the spa is the nicest part of the entire property ... yet the equipment they're using to do manicures and pedicures has dirty cushions and looks like it was handmade 40 years ago.. We called to book services weeks prior to our arrival and they told us we needed to wait until our arrival.. then when we arrived and tried to book our services they told us they were booked up for the day and so when we tried to book the next day we had to wait all day to find out if they could get a practitioner to come. Then By dinner time they told us they could do a couples massage as well as manicures and pedicures for my family Yet when our massage rolled around they only had one massage therapist and one other practitioner doing manicures and pedicures available and so we had to get our massage services done separately while the other practitioner there did manicures and pedicures .. Their web site touts four bars but actually only has one working bar and sever
7.9 Good
Pros: Decent hotel, easy to find and not far from the airport
Cons: Facilities were fairly tired and not up to the standards you’d expect from a modern hotel. Staff were thinly spread and not enthusiastic. The room facilities were poor (not even a kettle and the air on barely worked)
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning in each room, lovely patios on our rooms. Room service was quick and delicious. Located directly across the street from an animal rescue center.
Cons: Some squealing pipes and a couple loose fixtures but nothing critical.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Martino lived his dream and he did a good job. He created a great hotel in a fantastic place. I liked especially the wooden carved doors with carvings of the history of Central America with all the culture that was destroyd by Europeans. Also the painting in the the restaurant round the staircase with presentations of life of the inhabitants before the Europeans came and the brutality of the conquerors. Besides, the food was of good quality, the beds were fine; the bathroom a bit small for these days, but ok. Not to forget the wonderful national zoo right across the street, just a two minutes walk away with a big amount of animals in natural surroundings or big cages. We saw hundreds of animals, Even two lizzards near the huge hotel pool, where every now and then also birds came to drink and take a bath.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very practical location close to the airport. Easy to arrange airport pick up and since I left very early the next morning (before the first free shuttle) they arranged a taxi for me (pay about $8-10) and a light packed breakfast.
Cons: Since you are staying close to the airport there will of course be some sound from the planes. As I arrived late and left early it didn't really bother me even though I'm a very light sleeper. Use good ear plugs and you will probably be fine for a night after traveling/before an early flight.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice setting
Cons: Gave us a very difficult time about a shuttle for an early flight even though they agreed to it in an email inquiry. They later wanted to charge us. Very argumentative and unpleasant. Will not stay again.
6.3 Good
Pros: Feels safe despite the surrounding of the not so nice neighborhood next to the airport.
Cons: Pool and pool area was not very clean. Room was outdated for the payed price.
7.1 Good
Pros: We stay our last night in this hotel to get our flight early next morning. We had free transportation to the airport, safe trip and on time. Because it was early morning, staff were kind enough to prepare a take away breakfast for us. Room and area were fine. The pool was nice but we didn’t use it because it was too cold for us
Cons: There was a very bad smell (like farm..) coming from outside the hotel. Because we were close to the airport, there was expected planes noise
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There's a restaurant that has the feel of a soda on site. Rooms are comfy and staff is very attentive. Perfect spot if you need a place near airport but don't want to stay in an American chain hotel that lacks character.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very secure location. Alajuela and San Jose are a bit crowded and sketchy. This is is a suburb of Alajuela. We state there the night before we returned to the United States. It's close to the airport and downtown but in a safe and quiet spot that is not too remote. The staff is really warm and helpful. Great experience. Free airport shuttle as well.
Cons: no complaints
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was conveniently close to the airport. They run a shuttle bus service to the airport. The grounds are well maintained. The owner is very helpful as was the staff.
Cons: Outside the property there is very little to offer a visitor, Only stayed two nights so did not matter. Room did not have a mini fridge, again it did not matter.

Pros: Transportation service
Cons: Limited time for meals

Pros: The large rooms and bathrooms
7.9 Good
Pros: The style and the restaurant were great. Rather than a soulless airport hotel this has great character
Cons: The pool area needed better maintenance- it was dirty and disheveled !! A pit as everywhere else was so well cared for
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great spot. Perfect for a night after/before the airport. The staff was super friendly, the restaurant has some vegetarian options, and the facilities were really clean. Nice breakfast.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great restaurant on site with exceptional stake
Cons: N/a
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff and food was EXCELLENT! They went out of their way to arrange a rental car agency to come to the hotel and pick up our group. The food at the steakhouse was excellent as well as the breakfast the next morning. We arrived late after our flight and only stayed one night so I can’t speak about the location much, but it was far enough away from the airport that you will not be disturbed by airplanes coming or going. I would recommend this stay to others.
Cons: The beds were a bit more firm than we are accustomed to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very pretty and very clean. The girl at the front desk- checked in around 6ish on Monday, 8/15, Mother's Day in CR,.-wish I gotten her name- was phenomenal, welcoming, great smile and very helpful in getting three tired girls just off the bus from Quepos, situated. Helped us finding food and info on transportation next day for airport. Also brought some items we needed for the room. She was again there in the am, if she worked a double shit, she is super woman! Give her a raise! I'd gladly stay again if I'm in San Jose ever again!
Cons: Remote didn't work but fronted attendant brought batteries promptly. Shower gel dispenser was broken and laying on sink counter, not a biggies, just feedback. Restaurant closed early, we had just arrived and been looking forward to eat there, only two options for delivery were pizza, and chicken places, regretably we picked pizza, but hey we ate.

Pros: The staff was very, very friendly!! They helped me with setting up my travel to the next location, writing down the bus stations I had to go to and so on. They all speak English very well and were so helpful and friendly. I have had a great stay and will for sure recommend Hotel Casa Tago.
Cons: Nothing. The town itself is probably not very exciting, but it is a great location to stay just before or after your flight.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt welcome and were very attentive
Cons: Our room was by the side of a busy road so it ended being a bit noisy next time will request a room in the back
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff and breakfast. We arrived late because of a delay, and they woke up to get us settled. They even made breakfast for us even though it was over and it was the simplest, yet amazing breakfast.
Cons: Nothing. An amazing place to stay.

7.5 Good
Pros: A basic property with all the essentials. The wonderful staff make it feel like home!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best welcome I received in the Costa Rica, all the team of this hotel was so so nice!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nearby airport and very friendly staff.
Cons: Het zwembad was in onderhoud.
7.0 Good
Pros: Considering all budget accommodations in Costa Rica, this hotel was very clean and reasonably quiet (you could still hear motorcycles passing by, common in Costa Rica). The mattress was decent (rare in Costa Rica). The breakfast was reasonable considering the price of the hotel, with fresh coffee, eggs, gallo pinto, bread, fresh fruit, and fresh fruit. They could be a bit more generous with the amount of eggs and gallon pinto (we were serve about i tablespoon of each). Recommended due to its proximity to the airport, price, and cleanness. The front desk attendant was very nice.
Cons: The shower offered low pressure, lukewarm water (common in Costa Rica).

Pros: Nice quite place
Cons: Dinner and the noise (no isolation between rooms we could hear everything that happened in the other room)
