Pros: A lovely but short stay! We booked out stay as we had an early ferry from Cherbourg. Fiona was extremely accommodating, getting up early to make us an amazing breakfast (thank you!). She provided us with all the information we needed and left us to our own devices. Comfy bed, modern and clean bathroom, stunning sunrise, drinks available etc. Would recommend and stay again!
Cons: All was perfect - just wish we could have stayed longer!
Pros: Our stay at La Petite Houssaye was perfect. The hosts, Fiona and Richard, were absolutely wonderful and accommodating. They were the perfect balance of talkative and knowing when to give privacy. We stayed here for four nights, and Fiona made sure we had everything we needed. Each morning, she provided us with a lovely breakfast and offered to make us dinner if needed. The property is simply beautiful. Nestled away in some farmland just north of Saint Lō, Fiona and Richard have been working to transform this old farm building into a sweet bed and breakfast. With its location in Normandy, this property is riddled with history. We loved talking to the hosts each morning about the area, their story, and the farm’s story. The property was once used to make cider and there is a wooden German barracks just around the back. We stayed here for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and were only about 30-45 minutes away from the beaches, Saint-Mère-Église, Bayeux, Caen, and any other location of interest. They have done a beautiful job of making this place welcoming. We appreciated the hospitality of Fiona and Richard and would highly recommend La Petite Houssaye to anyone visiting the area.
Pros: I wasnt going to write a review... I wanted to keep this gem of a place a secret.... but that would be very selfish of me and Fiona and Richard deserve far more ..so here goes. A fantastic place for a getaway, be it a single overnight stay as I had, or for a week as I plan to have. The room was comfortable clean and fitted out to a high standard, this is a great find. Both Fiona and Richard are friendly and keen to see you enjoy your stay with them. Be sure to ask to see the wonderful menu of evening meals that are available. Too short a stay meant that we were on our way after a fantastic breakfast. We were touring on motorcycles and this place makes an excellent base to explore the local area from, so for anyone wishing to do such a trip ... This is THE PLACE to stay !!!! Thanks again for having us
Pros: A lovely relaxing stay! Thank you Fiona, for your hospitality and the fascinating tour of your amazing property
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was not being able to stay longer!
Pros: Fiona and Richard were very welcoming and friendly. Fiona went out of her way to provide us with an evening meal even though we had forgotten to book one. The walk in shower was a lovely size. We had plenty of drawer space for all of our clothes.
Cons: Would have been nice to have a mirror in the main room as bathroom was steamed after a shower.
Pros: Really nice B&B in the countryside of Normandy. The hostes Fiona went out of her way to provide anything we needed. Also, she is a fantastic cook.
Pros: Just as expected. Very friendly owner, English-speaking, available but not disturbing, flexible hours for checkin or breakfast, excellent breakfast, hole made things, . All was just great
Pros: La Petite Houssaye is an authentic Normandy farm situated in the countryside near Saint-Lô. The central location makes it ideal to explore the Normandy D-Day sites. Our friendly hosts Richard and Fiona are very helpful and have created a nice and cosy place where you really feel at home. The rooms are newly renovated and very clean. If you want to visit Normandy I can truly recommend La Petite Houssaye.
Pros: Fiona was more than happy to go out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and accommodating of one or two of our requests. The location was lovely, nice and rural, peaceful and tranquil. An ideal, unspoilt place and yet not far from the main attractions and sights.
Pros: Friendly owners (and cats), lovely quiet location, very clean, modern and comfortable rooms.

Other facilities offered at the property include a shared lounge and a games room. The property also offers free private parking.
Pros: Beautifully designed and extremely clean
Pros: Beautiful, quiet location in a restored very old farmhouse. Alison and Ken were delightful.
Pros: Excellent hosts - Alison & Ken were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Beautiful, quiet location in a restored old farmhouse. The rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious. Bed was so comfy (room 1).
Cons: Can't think of anything ....
Pros: Big room and bathroom in a beautiful old building. Lovely decor. Spotless. Very nice and accomodating host. Good breakfast. Terrific location: loads to do and everything is a maximum of 1 hour drive away (beaches, cities, museums, war-stuff, etc).
Cons: The bed and duvet were rather small and the bed creaked with every toss and turn. The shower suffered from low water pressure.
Pros: Everything, Alison couldn't do enough for us, the place was spotless, we hope to go again very soon.
Pros: My third stay, excellent and relaxing as ever! Highly recommended.
Pros: Comfortable, welcoming and clean, lovely old house.
Cons: Nothing really
Pros: It's a lovely accommodation. The room is big and the bed is really good! Great location and the owner Alison is very nice and helpful.
Cons: Nothing. It was excellent. I think the pictures of the room on booking can be better. The room was so pretty and big.
Pros: Beautiful and unique hotel - I'd much rather stay in a place like this with character and charm than some chain hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean and very spacious.
Pros: Beautifully kept country house with spacious rooms that have lots of light. Alison, the owner and host is lovely and shows a lot of interest in her guests. Very quiet location (beautiful starry skies, if the evening is not overcast). Restaurants and supermarkets at a 10-minute drive.
Cons: A nice terrace outside. The weather wasn't good enough while I was there, but with good weather it would make the property perfect... But I'm nitpicking here! ;)
The ibis budget (formerly Etap Hotel) offers accommodation at a budget price. Choose a pleasant and modern room when on your travels. Each room is designed to accommodate 1, 2 or 3 people. All of our rooms have air conditioning, a double bed, single bunk bed, shower, sink, toilet and television. There is an unlimited breakfast buffet at an affordable price as well as a free private car park. WIFI is available free of charge in all rooms and in the lobby area.
Cons: The air conditioner did not work in the heating option. The room was with an open window and terribly cold. The service did not understand anything in English And could not help with the temperature in the room.
Pros: Basic but covered all we needed for an overnight stay. Breakfast choice was pretty good.
Cons: Breakfast space a little cramped, especially if the hotel had been full.
Pros: breakfast was as expected good
Cons: nothing to add
Pros: Nice staff although non English speaking. Plenty of parking. Basic breakfast. Very clean. Good value for money
Cons: More variety at breakfast
Pros: Beds very comfortable, hotel clean and good breakfast
Pros: Clean, well appointed and good for an overnight stay.
Cons: The air con was feeble despite the heatwave having broken. As a result, it was cooler to leave the window open despite the traffic noise.
Pros: The 2 different evening staff were super. Morning staff seemed disjointed. Breakfast was frustrating as often no cups, people would go through the line twice before we went once. Ran out of certain foods as those that went first ate like pigs.
Cons: Breakfast set up was lacking cups, spoons, napkins. Staff did not anticipate until things were completely empty them people have to wait.
Pros: Wasn’t advised we should have gone to Blue ibis.. and as it was late and went to other ibis , this was stressful, especially trying to find it.
Cons: Difficult to find it
Pros: It was clean
Pros: After cycling a long way to get there it was great to receive a warm welcome from the receptionist. Also, the room was bright, the shower was good and the bed comfortable. The discount at the Italian restaurant was appreciated.
Cons: Nothing really, the breakfast staff were a bit slow to restock the buffet
8.2 Excellent (241 reviews)
When you stay at Le Château de la Roque, The Originals Relais (Relais du Silence) in Thereval, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Green Beach and Museum of Fine Arts. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Pretty chateau in a tranquil setting.
Cons: Tired, dated interior. Quite grubby. Outside area pretty but in need of a lot of tlc.
Pros: Amazing location, we had great time
Pros: Very nice chateau-hôtel close to St Lo. In the middle of the country-side. Nice rooms in medieval style. Beautiful lounges and sitting rooms in medieval style.
Cons: Jacuzzi and table d'hôte were closed on Sunday. Jacuzzi quite expensive at 30€/person.
Pros: Lovely place, nice setting
Cons: They had a young lad running or pounding around in the room directly above ours, both on the evening of our stay & also the next morning. It did make our stay not very enjoyable.
Pros: On arrival at the magnificent Chateau we were met by the charming and very beautiful lady of the house who made us feel very much at home she showed us to our magnificent bedroom at the top of a winding stairs.. the Chateau itself was amazing.. an experience to cherish and savour... the breakfast and evening meal were delicious.. We cannot wait to return!
Cons: There was nothing not to like!
Pros: Even though communication was sometimes difficult the staff was welcoming and very pleasant, Food was outstanding, and a lovely country setting with great period room.
Pros: The bed was comfy the shower was goof
Cons: Lack lustre welcome, no reception area as such. It was like someone’s private office. Shown a room with a bath and shower on the wall and no shower curtain. I wasn’t happy and was given a far superior room with a proper shower. Why weren’t we shown this one in the first place. No milk to go with with complimentary tea and coffee in room. No mention of any facilities ie bar etc. One if the staff seemed to avoid us.
Pros: Excellent and very convenient location. Magnificent environment / architecture - a classic French manoir. Elegant interiors tastefully decorated. Comfortable, room / bed. Calm and relaxing ambiance.
Cons: The path between the parking ground and the hotel entrance is gravel - if your cases are heavy / wheeled, best to deposit these before parking. Check-in was awkward - nobody present for +/- 10 minutes. The inevitable difficulties with routine maintenance in large estates - cracked windows due to absence of tie-backs for frames. Bathroom decor was poor and ill-considered (shower hose lies across the tub) - the bidet wasn't functioning and there were armies of ants in all areas - not a problem, just visually unappealing. Limited electrical points (trailing cables etc) - the wi-fi was difficult to use and ultimately inoperable.
Pros: The grounds, the hospitality, the room, pretty much everything. Outstanding place to stay
Cons: The bathroom wasn't very private
Pros: Breakfast was excellent
Cons: Wifi didn't work

Pros: The receptionist was very helpful and friendly when our ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. Rooms were clean comfortable and quiet. Parking was convenient.
Cons: The hotel is a little too far from the city centre.
Pros: Good value for money, breakfast, friendly staff
Pros: VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF. NICE COMFORTABLE ROOM WITH GOOD SHOWER. THE RESTAURANT WAS FINE,JUST WHAT ONE WOULD EXPECT WITH A GOOD SELECTION AN NICELY SERVED. GOOD BREAKFAST WITH A GOOD SELECTION
Cons: WOUILD HAVE LIKED TEA AND COFFEE FACILITIES.
Pros: the dinner was lovely
Pros: The room was nice and warm and clean. The staff were fantastic. They were very helpful and attentive.
Cons: The room was small. The location was in an industrial area, but the room was clean and the value was good.

Pros: Very convenient location for our one night stay. Super friendly staff and a good breakfast made our stay very comfortable.
Pros: Beds were super comfy Room was spacious Bathroom was more than adequate Shower was excellent Quite location Easy to find
Cons: Kettle to make coffee. We left early before breakfast and would have welcomed a coffee or a hot chocolate before bed.
Pros: Very warm welcome and a comfortable room.
Cons: Poor choice of restaurant food.one fish choice and one minced beef choice. No vegetables. The excuse given for the poor menu was it was August!!!!
Pros: Good breakfast, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable and convenient. Large free car-park.
Pros: Clean and comfortable; very friendly staff; good food
Cons: Very cosy bathroom
Pros: it was great. good variety
Cons: nothing I can think of
Pros: Great bathroom with double sinks and a great shower.
Cons: The heater didn't work, which was disappointing. The brochure boasted that the TV had a 'Canal' video but this didn't work either, so there was no English speaking channels available. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and planned to eat dinner in their restaurant, only to find out that the restaurant doesn't serve dinner on the weekends.
Pros: Full value for money! :) Nice bed and a fine breakfast..... Free parking and good service at the reception.
Cons: Arrived a Saturday and we would have liked to buy some dinner, but the Restaurant are apparently closed in weekends. We tried to drive to the center to find some dinner, but it was very difficult to find both places to buy, but especially to park when we finally found places.
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Cleanliness.
Cons: Showers standard size but a little small for me.
Pros: Receptionist on the eve of our arrival pleasant and smiley. Good parking
Cons: The room was much! smaller than any other hotel we had stayed in during our 2 week holiday and the shower room was REALLY small - luckily neither of us was very overweight otherwise you could have got stuck in shower or trying to get out! For the money we paid and compared to all the other Hotels it was ONLY fair we feel. Re: Bedroom - we were VERY surprised there was no net or even slatted blinds for privacy iONLY the dark curtains so we had to keep them closed when changing to go out to eat (as we could not eat on site) and when we got out - as there was a coach parked right outside - plus private houses just beyond! I had not brought a hairdryer but ALL the hotels and B & B we stayed at HAD a hairdryer as basic IN the bedrooms EXCEPT for this hotel! When I mentioned this on checking out we felt the Receptionist (who was a different one) was a bit patronising as she said all I had to do was telephone reception and ask for one!!! I said I had come out of shop expecting to find this basic item and did not feel I had to ring and wait at door in towel for someone to bring me one! She also said it was not essential in a 2 star hotel!! (These do not cost much surely to place a simple one in the rooms!) Very limited hanging space and extremely basic - no cupboard or drawers as such just a pole with some hangars on!! We thought the breakfast was quite pricey and for what we desired, coffee and croissant so we did not take it and returned to the cafe/restaurant in the town where we had eaten night before and which was fraction of the cost! FINALLY being a Sunday night when we were booked here it was VERY difficult to find a restaurant to eat a nice meal, i.e. not Pizzeria or bland chain - there was NO recommended list of places we could have looked up on our GPS which were OPEN on Sunday nights - most we saw in book and we drove to were NOT open on this evening. Hotel signposting into its Car park insignificant and we missed it on arrival
See hotel page The Channel is a perfect department to relax between countryside, sea, visits and gastronomy. This is where The Originals City, Hotel Saint-L and its many assets await you. On the outskirts of Saint-L, Jean-Pierre Neuvilles three star hotel enjoys an ideal location, close to the main roads of Normandy: 48 quiet rooms, 1 conference room, 1 wellness area, 1 fitness area, 1 private and secure car park, what more could you want?
Pros: quite reasonable for one night, wouldn't spend longer ,
Cons: hotel was ok but a little out of the way, few places to eat closeby. It was dark when we arrived after a long trip. the staff couldn't advise if there was anywhere to get food or if anything nearby were pet friendly
Pros: Staff were very friendly and attentive
Cons: Hot breakfast items were cold. There may have been an equipment malfunction. Rest of breakfast was very good.
Pros: Terrible place, by the buffalo grill on the side of the road. Depressing place.
Cons: Where it is
Pros: Great hotel, very comfortable. We even stayed for breakfast, which was lovely.
Cons: The bunk beds were very high and we would have preferred a safer rail so that the top bunk child couldn’t fall out.
Cons: TV had no English speaking channels
Pros: Leaving in the morning. Morning staff were friendlier.
Cons: Before I could say bonsoir, the guy started in about booking.com and how we reserved the wrong room, that he could have given me a better price through him but now he was going to make us keep the room and price through booking.com. Perhaps a misunderstanding between languages? The beds were hard as rocks.
Pros: Comfortable, clean room at a good price. I was touring the area and only needed an adequate place to stay. This hotel met my needs.
Cons: Location relative to Saint-Lo city center
Pros: Good and good selection
Pros: Very clean and staff very helpful
Pros: Service is very good! People are very nice and patient
In the city center, close to the train station, the Mercure Saint Lô Centre hotel welcomes you to the heart of the Manche region. Perfect for a relaxing family stay or a business trip, the hotel is located at the foot of the ramparts and close to the Nati onal Stud. The entire team will make you feel welcome throughout your stay. Come and taste the home-made dishes in our "Le Tocqueville" restaurant and discover our selection of wines at the bar.
Pros: Very basic like a cheap motel
Cons: Traffic noise, shower door not closing, hair dryer not working.
Pros: Great location for St Lo and surrounding area. Celtic Bar next door very friendly. Plenty of free parking outside front of Hotel
Cons: Restaurant shut on day of arrival - Sunday. Restaurants nearby also shut. Had to buy bread etc from Boulangerie and Cocci Market 500metres from Hotel towards Town Centre. Faint smell of smoking in room - reported to receptionist immediately
Pros: Easy to find, plenty of free parking, tea and coffee facilities and great location just outside the town's ramparts.
Cons: This was a nice functional hotel. Right next to the train station (although we didn't hear any noise). No complaints at all.
Pros: Great location and easy access
Cons: Heat wave and no AC
Pros: I visited about 2 years ago and on arrival it was great to see that the rooms/bathrooms have been modernised. A great hotel with friendly staff.
Pros: Staff very helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast.
Cons: Access from car park is by a lot of steps. Paper cups for tea and coffee facilities in room.
Pros: The hotel was in a good position by the river with some nice views from the rooms, it was Sunday so most of restaurants including the hotels were closed. The room was large and airy with a fan (no air con). There is a small bar downstairs.
Cons: Saint Lo itself bares the scares of war, which is in evidence by the view of the town. It might be better on another day, not Sunday.
Cons: Room was so noisy that I heard all the sounds coming from cleaning staff in the room next door. The shower and the closet are in two seperate rooms. There was no air conditioner in the room and the lock in the windows are not working properly.
Pros: Not much
Cons: No a/c.... 32oC in the bedroom Very expensive for what we had.
Located in Agneaux, Château D'agneaux is a 4-minute drive from Green Beach and 5 minutes from Museum of Fine Arts. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: very original chateau, fantastic room, very large, very friendly owner, exceptional restaurant
Cons: a little bit cold
Pros: Stunning location, very well situated on top of a beautiful valley and the old castle is a treat. There is also a neighbouring restaurant which is very convenient. The manager was really friendly.
Cons: The neighbouring town of St Lô is nothing to write home about though that is compensated by the fact that the excellent roads can get you to Bayeux, the beaches or Caen quite fast.
Pros: Old chateau managed by one member of staff. Very authentic. Secluded location. Parking at the premises. Nice breakfast with a view.
Cons: French speaking only :) Rooms are a bit cold and shabby.
Pros: Fabulous old building and site
Cons: Typical old chateau. Staff only there at 6.00 pm - in fact they live there and are the owners. No showers in the rooms. Took a suite to get a hand shower and some space. Very expensive decision. No restaurant. No english spoken. (I get by in French)
Pros: Extremly nice and kind welcome by the owner. Great place to stay for a few days. Top restaurant around the corner. I can absolutely recommend this Chateau if you want a different experience compared to a regular hotel.
Pros: A lovely environment, a magnifique castle.
Cons: We have booked a room for special price and I have noticed in the reservation that we will arrive around 9pm. At the arrival I have found nobody at the reception. After ringing on the doorbell a man arrived (possibly the owner) and asked what I would like to have. I sad I have a reservation, he didn’t know it. He told that he has not the room for that price which I have booked for and he offered me one for a price 40% more. Anyway I took it, as I have had no chance to have another accommodation at 9:30 pm. I think it is not good when the accommodation has a dispute with booking.com, finally the customer will lose on the deal....
Pros: The breakfast was fair - they were very attentive to our asks.
Cons: The room could use some upgrading - the bathroom tiles were coming up and were missing. Some areas needed to be cleaned with more attention. The refrigerator was unsat - black mold on the inside because it had previously been unplugged.
