Pros: A perfect retreat. Quiet, private and within a stunning environment. Andrew was a perfect host.
Pros: Everything about this place exceeded our expectations! "Glamping" some would call it - 5 star camping will all the mod-cons and comfort! Property Owner ANDREW left nothing to chance - lot of thoughts must have gone in to make this a real classy and comfy "country retreat". It has everything ... open fire with tons of red gum logs to keep it going, well equipped kitchen, quality stuff for DIY cooked breakfasts (including farm-fresh eggs. Most appealing bedroom with an extra-comfy kingsize bed. Even comes with its herd of kangaroos in the back, and 2 very friendly alpacas! The best yet, for us!
Cons: NOTHING - All good! Very good in fact! Nothing to knock, seriously. ANDREW is a most attentive host - He even organised on-the-spot panel-works for existing damage to our car which was damaged a lot more travelling there!
Pros: A great breakfast of locally sourced produce, with all of the equipment provided to prepare it at our leisure. Cottage was very cosy, with all of the creature comforts you would need.
Cons: Mosquito proofing of the cottage. There is Aerogard and Mozzie zappers under the sink, which are very useful. Don't overload the fire place, it is very effective at heating up the cottage.
Pros: The quite location, the self contained little cabin with a comfortable bed and everything needed for a comfortable stay with a well stocked fridge for daily breakfast.
Cons: There was nothing not to like.
Pros: Quite, warm, very comfortable bed, and baked bread on the premises. Thankyou so much for a wonderful weekend.
Pros: A perfect weekend in an amazingly cozy cottage. My husband and I loved our stay. Andrew is a terrific host. We loved the fresh bread and eggs! and even make up removing wipes were provided! Top quality accomodation and stay. The wood fire was beautiful too during the cold weekend. We would love to come back!
Cons: Nothing. Can’t name a fault.
Pros: Thoughtful host with attention to detail and respect for privacy.
Pros: Quiet. Wildlife. Home comforts. Hosts’s service. Stunning food for breakfast including warm home baked bread on arrival. Have recommended and will stay again
Cons: Maybe need non slip strips on the stairs. They were slippery, at night this is a falls risk
Pros: The host Andrew was great. He went out of his way to assist us and even kept us informed by text of when the power was to return after a local outage. The cabin was fantastic as was the food provided for breakfast. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway.
Pros: The cottage was well appointed and very comfortable, with a fireplace in the living area, a heat lamp in the bathroom, and a heater in the bedroom. Our worries about being cold were completely unfounded - we were toasty the entire weekend. The bedroom had a KS bed with high quality sheets, and luxurious towels and bathrobes were supplied, along with high end toiletries. The little kitchenette was well resourced. Fresh bread, eggs, bacon, milk and juice were provided for breakfast, and we felt like we had found our own little oasis of relaxation. The owner, Andrew, was welcoming and friendly, and sent us occasional text messages to check if there was anything we needed. A very enjoyable stay.
Cons: Nothing - everything was wonderful and we would definitely stay again.
Pros: The quiet location and cosy cottage
Cons: We feel that the continental breakfast could be of a better standard for the cost of the stay
Pros: The cottage was the perfect mix of relaxed and cosy with little extras like underfloor heating and a well stocked pantry. Beautiful peaceful location.
Pros: The escape from the city life.
Cons: Having to leave
Pros: Host Daniel was very responsive to queries and requests. Winter in Woodend is generally much colder than in Melbourne but the cottage was very well heated, with heated floor tiles and plenty of electric blankets as well. Size-wise the cottage is not big but has everything one needs for a short getaway, and the loft is brilliant with extra beds. The grounds were wonderful for my dog to explore. There is a lovely dam just outside the cottage where we saw ducks and lots of birds, and spotted kangaroos as well. Location is quiet but at the same time a quick 5-min drive to town centre where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.`
Pros: Gorgeous cottage and grounds. Daniel (host) was close by if needed and very attentive. A well stocked brekkie pantry was a real treat. We brought our furry family who very much enjoyed their stay as well. I highly recommend a stay at Wurrung B & B
Pros: Very friendly host. Exceeded our expectations.. Bottle of champagne on arrival plus more. The loft house was beautifully presented. A very comfortable stay and experience
Pros: Everything! Daniel was the perfect welcoming host to his beautiful home in a stunning location. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable.
Cons: It was perfect
Pros: Best pet friendly accommodation we stayed so far
Cons: Nothing special about the location but was OK
Pros: It was such a gorgeous stay and the owners where so lovely and accomodating. Would highly recommend them to everyone
Pros: Our host Daniel was very welcoming and the property had little touches to make it even more homely
Cons: Everything was perfect

Pros: Great breakfast
Pros: Breakfast on offer covered all the bases. Excellent. The location was so convenient as the wedding we attended was only three blocks away. We also travelled to Kyneton which was just up the highway. The Old School House was within very easy access of the highway.
Cons: There was nothing that I didn't like.
Pros: The bed was super comfy!
Pros: People were awesome
Cons: Would have like a bath?
Pros: We were blown away with the property, we stayed in the school house building and just loved it! Felt so at home we didn’t want to leave.
Pros: Terry was great, engaging and full of information.Great breakfast with a great chat and company a complete great experience. Thanks
Pros: The room was warmed by a roaring wood fire on arrival which was very welcome on a cold winters day. Also the breakfast made and served up by our host Terry was incredible by far the best breakfast we have had at any similar accommodation, left full, satisfied and happy.
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. We brought along our puppy who had the time of his life playing with the resident dog (who whilst big is the gentlest soul). Our studio was clean and comfortable. The grounds were a delight to wander around. Terry and Diane were incredible hosts who took the very best care of us. We would not hesitate to come back.
Cons: We didn’t have any issues with the property or hosts. None at all.
Pros: Terry and Di were amazing hosts....
Pros: Di and Terry were very friendly and the breakfast was amazing.
Located in Macedon, Black Forest Motel is in a shopping district, a 2-minute drive from Mount Macedon and 7 minutes from Woodend Community Centre. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The place was lovely.
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable but the room was very good. Definitely recommend it for a short stay.
Pros: Reasonable location. Accomodation quite comfortable.
Cons: Thought that we had a breakfast included, however you had to prepare/cook yourself. After checking in bvia a cleaner we did not see any other person in charge and the office was not manned while we were there. Also we were not aware that dogs were allowed in the rooms, we try to never book animal friendly motels as we have allergies.
Pros: Breakfast room was well laid out, good opportunity to socialize with other guests and plenty of food. Rooms were spacious and clean.
Cons: TV was poor, bad signal, difficult to navigate remote. Bathrooms were very old and tired in much need of a renovation and heating
Pros: We were very impressed with the Black Forest Hotel. It was very clean, comfortable and homey with plenty of space and a beautiful bathroom. Nice settings and we were very impressed with the camp kitchen and the complimentary breakfast.
Pros: The modern bathroom, the layout of the room was cosy
Cons: The heater was broken, and my pillow didn’t look like it had been cleaned. Hoping it was just a one off! I will probably be staying here again a few weeks time as its close to where I am visiting and hoping the bedding is cleaner and my heater will work.
Pros: Clean, comfortable beds, nice location.
Pros: Customer service great. Loved the breakfast/ bbq setup. Made for social interaction with other guests. Will certainly return and stay longer.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
Pros: The family room had everything you need for a comfortable stay even in the confined space
Cons: The heater in the room was not strong enough for the winter.
Pros: Very comfortable bed & great bathroom.
When you stay at Adriennes Country Retreat in Mount Macedon, you'll be 11 minutes by car from Mount Macedon. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The house was beautiful, hosted and the place wonderful. The view is fantastic and the birds are singing early in the morning. The kangaroos visited us in the morning discreetly.
Pros: Beautiful and tranquil get away
Cons: Did not realise at back of house is a rental studio connected to property
Pros: The location of the house was ideal only 5 min drive to Highfield reception centre and shops. The property was a little piece of paradise with lots of kangaroos and deer and so peaceful. Even though it was only my husband and I there is plenty of room for a family or two or three couples.
Cons: Nothing, everything was lovely
Pros: The isolation felt very relaxed,
Pros: You can not go past the outdoor area and spa. Even a canoe ride on the dam!!!
Located in Macedon, Macedon Ranges Hotel & Spa is a 3-minute drive from Mount Macedon and 6 minutes from Woodend Community Centre. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The room was large and the fire and the spa were awesome. The views were beautiful and loved the large windows that looked out to the view. Food at the restaurant was fabulous and the wine tasting was great as well. Staff at restaurant were lovely as well
Cons: No breakfast at hotel or in walking distance. I was there for a conference and caught an Uber. In the morning went to find breakfast at the restaurant and there was nothing available. This should be noted or at least provide something in the room. The reception was open 9-5 only which I found odd. Conference room toilets smelt very bad of urine.
Pros: Spa in room
Cons: No tv remote No blinds on windows Draft under door Leaking shower flooded bathroom floor Room was freezing on arrival took over an hour to heat up Bath robes excessively long No food a available on property after 3.30pm till dinner time No in house movies available Very small tv
Pros: Very nice views, comfortable bed and good spa facilities.
Cons: Could have been cleaner, reception staff was rude and the breakfast was very overpriced.
Pros: Bed and fires place
Cons: That the room had tiles it made it feel less cosy. We had dinner (rib eye, lamb ribs) and breakfast there, the food was a little bland.
Pros: I liked that there was a policy to not smoke indoors. That can ruin the atmosphere and experience for guests who have to endure the smells and pollution during their stay. I also like the quietness of the place and simplicity of the rooms. I did not require much for my stay (except a microwave to heat my food) and I found it satisfied my specific need to live simply, cleanly, and peacefully. I especially appreciated the receptionist whose name I failed to get. She was welcoming and kind from the beginning to end. Check-in was easy. She offered places to visit and things to do, and briefly spoke about the area. I didn't even have to ask. Not only that, she didn't just check me in only to shoo me away. She made my experience a personal one and I appreciated her calmness and professionalism. When I checked out, she even told me about her own travels and encouraged my solo travels. It made me feel comfortable. Such a kind lady. I'm definitely going back based on my short experience and recommending friends and family. Please pass my appreciation to her.
Cons: I was surprised that there was no microwave in my room. I wanted to heat up some food but it wasn't a big deal. I could also hear my neighbours walking in and out of their rooms as well as their conversations through the walls. However, it wasn't loud enough to disturb the peace. I think they respected the place. I think at one point, I heard a man singing faintly in the late hours.
Pros: This stay was an absolute dream! The check in staff were so kind and lovely and the rooms were clean beautiful view and very romantic! Will definitely be back!
Cons: We liked everything about our stay
Pros: The king bed in the suite was comfortable.
Cons: The beds in the cottage were not very comfortable at all. I asked to have wood left out for the fire and none was so we couldn't have a fire, which was the main reason we wanted the cottage. The Jacuzzi would not heat up over 30 degrees. It was not as nice as it was advertised online. We were moved to a suite the second night because of a mix up when booking the cottage. The suite was better but the bed they gave us for my daughter kept folding up all night which meant she didn't sleep. There were no robes in the suite and the heater was not great. No room service which for the price of the hotel was really disappointing.
Cons: Very cold, no remote for air con but didn’t want to sleep with gas on. Bathroom is like an ice box and you cannot warm it up. Bed was uncomfortable. Reception lady was not the most welcoming. Expect more for this kind of money.
Pros: Bed was comfy fan in the ensuite rattled
Cons: fan in the ensuite rattled no microwave
Pros: Spa and View was amazing

Cons: Noise from patrons in the beer garden
Pros: location was great, nearby eateries were excellent lovely town
Cons: we had the Mountain View rooms which were above the beer garden but it wasn't mention about the noise from patrons and we were not going to get any sleep. Rooms were very open plan so there was no private bathroom
Pros: Nice and warm. Also very quiet for an old building.
Cons: There was some confusion over breakfast. We weren't told, cooked breakfast was only for one morning, and no supplies left in our room for continental on second morning.
Cons: The breakfast menu is quite small which is fine, but I ordered toasted muesli and they did not have any! I thought that was poor planning. Surely there would have been a stock take before the weekend.
Pros: Very friendly staff. Great location. Generous breakfast provided on tray in room.
Cons: Basic accommodation. Room very cramped and tired.
Cons: Food service took a long time. Not enough staff putting pressure on those that were working. The room very old and the bed extremely uncomfortable. The only great thing was the location and great beer.
Cons: I would like to see some sort of table or shelf in the bathroom. The room I had didn’t have anywhere to put cosmetics or anything else.
Pros: The location was perfect & the staff extremely helpful.
Cons: Nothing! I thought it might be noisy but it definitely wasn’t.
Pros: Also there was a mix up with our room to no fault of the business, it was fixed up and followed through promptly, and we had a comfortable stay. Thanks Collin for following up.
Pros: Great location. Nice warm room
Cons: Their was a humming sound that came on and off every 30 mins or so throughout the night. The pillows were lumpy. They were unable to supply a hair dryer. The bathroom was dirty. All below expectations for the price
