Fairly good hotel for a single overnight stay. Great staff at front desk - the morning we were to leave the staff told us about the fog dangers in the mountains and let us know when it was safe to leave. A grand gesture that could have been life saving.
The so called continental breakfast was the worst that i have ever seen. only about 8 seats in the whole place with just some muffins and very small danishes. If you are looking at this purchase for the deal with the breakfast go for the exit door!
This room was clean and comfortable for the value.
We were mainly looking for clean comfortable and safe. It was all that with a welcoming staff and no hassels.
Only negative comment is room stayed very cold despite heat on all night.
This hotel was a last minute necessity in a very long travel day. It was just before heading into the Mountainous terrain between VA and WVA. Chose this hotel due to the close proximity of I77 on off ramp. Was able to book this hotel with less than 12 hours notice. This stretch of road can become very dangerous as travel at night through the mountains is not something I recommend. We encountered high winds until we entered Wytheville from NC. Plenty of gas stations, and eateries near by. If your heading north into the Mountains you don't have many last chance escapes before hitting WVA Turnpike. This turned out to be the very best spot to stop for the night. And I can honestly say I have never had a bad night in any Red Roof Inn. Felt very comfortable with the late night check in and riddiculously early check out the next day.
My visit started with the inviting smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies...yum. That was the last pleasant thing my family experienced. After we paid and received our key, I said we stayed here last year. Then the woman at the desk said, 'OH, then you'll find something missing...the pool!' My kids were hot and tired and couldn't wait to get in the pool, what a huge disappointment. The pool area was litterally a pile of dirt, and the grass hadn't been cut in months. The pebbles from the walkway were loose and entering into our room every time we entered. There were hundreds of dead cockroaches in the ice machine area. The breakfast area was a disaster, and the trash was overflowing.
Our room was very clean and the staff was extremely courteous! We had no wait checking in or out and they were expecting us when we arrived. It all went rather smoothly and when you are tired and weary from driving that is a great relief. We would definitely recommend Red Roof Inn to anyone!
I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I've booked hotels on the internet a few times and have been greatly disappointed, but I've got to say that this was one of the nicest motels I have stayed in. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. You can't beat the price either. Stay here, you won't be sorry.
Stayed here 1 nite. July 31, 2008. Pool had alge . Not enough towels. Bed sheets were worn and would not stay on bed. We are Ready Card Red Roof Members and I will not stay here again.
