10.0 Excellent
Pros: We got out of our test earlier than expected and went to the hotel and asked if we could check in early , about noon. The lady who was at the front desk said sure and gave me an accessible room next to the rear door that was perfect for my needs.
Cons: The ice Maker in the fridge was turned off and the bin empty but the front desk staff went right to the kitchen and got me my bin full for my medical ice cooler machine. The staff was very helpful and responsive to my needs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, safe, private and attractive.
Cons: Marriott might try something else for breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good environment for large groups of teens. Friendly staff.
6.0 Good
Pros: Amenities were better than expected (bistro). Very knowledgable helpful staff.
Cons: over-priced; the room we got should not cost more than $150 USD
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet but 10 minutes from most areas
Cons: No
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice layout of the building
Cons: Was loud with other guest and room had somewhat poor lighting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Clean. Quiet. Affordable. Good location, close to I5 but not so close that it's noisy. Surprisingly good food at the bar vis a vis the limited kitchen facilities.
Cons: Nope. This place is a win. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing. Every time I stay there, they know my name, everyone is so friendly from Front Desk to Housekeeping and Cafe servers. I have never experienced a hotel where ALL staff is so welcoming; I see this as a sign of great management.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing. Usually you find 1 or 2 exceptional people at a hotel; everyone I have experienced - from front desk to cafe to janitorial staff - is amazing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Starbucks in the lobby. Variety of restaurants and shopping close by. Close to freeway but not too close. Free paper in the morning. Desk staff was friendly and very helpful. Great gym.
Cons: Pool was small. No microwave in the room. Starbucks in the lobby did not offer my wife's favorite drink, so still had to visit a Starbucks. No continental breakfast. Elevator was slow n noisy. Other staff was accommodating but not overly friendly or happy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well kept. Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Convenient location.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location

3
8.3 Excellent (2,067 reviews)
Overview Reviews

The hotel offers an outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center, 24-hour business center, and 10,000 square feet of meeting and conference spaces. This is an art deco hotel that offers charming, modern styling and beautiful views of the city and the waterfront. Delta Bistro, the onsite restaurant and bar, has a stunning garden view. The University Plaza Waterfront Hotel is pet-friendly and smoke-free. This hotel is also located close to all of the best attractions around the Stockton area, including the Bob Hope Theater, Stockton Port, Delicato Vineyards, the Wine Country Casino, and the Children’s Museum of Stockton. Business travelers will also enjoy its proximity to Lathrop Business Park and other corporations in the area. Onsite parking is available free of charge, and room service is available during limited hours. Room type and view can be chosen at the time of booking.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy freeway access, centrally located, clean room
Cons: The hotel doubles as college dorms when school is in and can become loud.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Stockton has a great waterfront and this hotel captures that beauty. We stayed in the "King Suite", and it was roomy with an abundance of windows. Newer style is nice and the staff was nice, but not very competent. Asked for a late check out and it was granted after more than two calls.
Cons: Stay here at your own risk -- this is not the kind of place you'd want to venture out and walk around. The "King Suite" is basically two separate rooms at the end of a hallway. The room looked like it had been unkept and most of the carpet is stained.. and we found small bugs on our bedding (after we'd slept there). There's a hallway light that is part of the main lighting system, so it never turns off. Older style toilet, ours overflowed twice.
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice Blue wallpaper in Bathroom Nice Blue Bedding In summer, courtyard would have been great for reading outdoors Restaurant onsite Big refrigerator and microwave Large TV radio/CD player Double paned sliding doors Good value Large room Good enough if all you want is a fairly decent place to stay overnight.
Cons: Too modern a feel, IE: no carpeting, only cream colored ceramic tile, very cold looking, not to mention hard cold surface to walk on. No dresser, small 48" desk with 3 small drawers No chair to sit in, small bench only 1 tiny hook in bathroom to hold towels, only hand towels would fit due to smallness of hooks. No hook/towel racks for bath towel, had to put bath towel on floor next to shower as had a 3/4 clear glass partition to keep water in the shower which went to ceiling so couldn't hang towel on that. Receptionists were nice, but gave no information on parking, if there was a restaurant on sight, I had to ask. Hall carpet very dirty and stained throughout the whole hallway. Top floors rented out to University students. Possibly in summer, regular customers have access to those, better view I'm sure. Extremely strong disinfectant smell throughout the hall and in the room, a BIG turnoff. Neighborhood kind of iffy, homeless man was walking across the entrance outside when I arrived Shower mat too long and covered the drain hole in the center of the shower, had to move it around to drain the water as I showered. A little hard to find location The bright stainless steel faucets in bathroom had spots on them were they hadn't been wiped clean. Doubtful I will stay here again. The cons outweighed the pros
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great!!!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and seemed updated. Full size fridge in room. Nice bar, lunge and restaurant. Pool/spa is usable. There is an outdoor area with artificial grass with lots of seating. Thats a great place to relax outdoors. Pool table and ping-pong table are a nice touch too. Staff was friendly and were quite accommodating with early checkin / late checkout.
Cons: Location and folks in and around the waterfront park look a little dicey. Fortunately, with all the options at the hotel you dont really need to step out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice, comforters a bit big, but overall very nice. Huge bathroom, wow.
Cons: Location. Other than being next to the waterfront and directly across the street from the coliseum, the location was horrible. The limited menu in the inside restaurant with the high prices was discouraging. Tried to go find something close as an alternative, not. The delapitated downtown section offered no real alternatives for food options. So, reluctantly having no feeling of choice but to stay at the hotel to eat and paying 40 dollars for a quick lunch was a bummer.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Bed & River view
Cons: Location, noise & bleach smell
4.0 Okay
Pros: The view was nice
Cons: The towels were dirty and looked like they had blood on them. There were no shampoos in the bathroom and the conditioner bottles were empty. Looks like they didn't do a room service. The walls are not soundproof and you could hear the next door guest talking on her phone at 5 AM. Very noisy place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean with secure parking lot. Nice sized room with comfortable beds. Nice grounds with waterfront view of a waterway. Nice outdoor sitting areas with comfortable lounge chairs and fire pits. Great place for some conversation and an evening adult beverage
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The waterfront is located near a college/crime area yet it provides the security and serenity. The room deposit and the cable selection is not good... But if completely bored and you don't want to go to the movies rent the one you most want because your paying a couples price!!
Cons: I don't like that the clerks seem to harbor the rooms with a view even with prepaid reservations. In fact one clerk blatantly lied and on my next trip the new clerk was extremely nice. The two men clerks are not personable at ALL
6.0 Good
Pros: The courtyard/pool area was pretty. Our room was comfortable.
Cons: It was okay for an overnight stay on a road trip after12+ hours on the road, but it's in a bad, rundown (scary) area. We almost kept driving, but had prepaid for our room. It was so noisy that we had to keep the fan and a/c on all night to drown out the loud music and we weren't able to get much sleep.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The room was great. Very clean, modern, and welcoming. Will definitely make my way back; as long as a great deal comes up again.
Cons: I could tell the receptionist was having a rather hectic day, and was a little snappy. Can't do much about peoples attitudes, but that was a little offsetting. Maybe some more support for her from her staff would have alleviated the load.

Pros: Rooms can be made dark in the middle of the day. Beds are comfortable and the staff was friendly. I didn't notice any noise from my neighbors or the highway.
Cons: It is not very close to bus lines. Breakfast was kind of weak and the building is a little bit hokey.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed
Cons: Dirty floor
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Family atmosphere. Clean room. Great deal through kayak. Pool was great. My bathtub faucet was dripping when I first arrived. Knowing the water shortage in CA, I told front desk and maintenance fixed it. On a street with lots of chain restaurants, malls, and driving distance of Wal-Mart and Target. Old Spaghetti Factory and Starbucks right next door with In-N-Out across the street.
Cons: Breakfast was minimal (cereal, apples, muffins, bagels, waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, toast). The motorized chair for the pool wasn't working so man in wheelchair couldn't use it. I could smell cigarette smoke in my room either from a past customer or staff member of hotel even though it was a non-smoking room. Definitely liveable with the smell.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Returned my underwear that I left in the drawer.
Cons: Stampede above & employees "carrying on" shouting next door in electrical room after 11:00 pm.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable
Cons: My room didn't come with no dishes or silverware and when I called front desk to ask for just TWO forks it took them at least 30 min to bring it to my room
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: I arrived at about 5:30 pm after putting in 8 hours behind the wheel, so I was quite tired. Check-In was handled by an inept young lady who apparently was new. She asked for my ID and credit card, which I produced. She disappeared for several minutes and then came back and told me that she could not accept my ID because it was "paper." I explained to her that it was a temporary license as I had just renewed it, and that I had not received the actual license yet. After we got that worked out I went to my room and looked about for an ice bucket so I could enjoy a cold beverage after a long day traveling. There was no ice bucket, so I went back down to the front desk and inquired if I could possibly get one. She informed me that not only did they not have ice buckets, but that there was no ice within the hotel!!! So--I went across the street across 8 lanes of traffic to buy ice! The room itself was absolutely nothing to write home about. The next morning I was about to shower when I happened to notice that there wasn't even a hairdryer!!! No ice and no hairdryer at an extended stay hotel? SERIOUSLY??? Will never go back.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Staff was friendly and responsive. They only had one other room beside the one that smelled we were in and she tried to accommodate us, so we looked at a smoking room, but that was even worse. She tried which we appreciated.
Cons: The maintenance of our room was very poor (our room had a very foul smell and walls near baseboards were falling apart). The website was misleading when I selected criteria of workout facility and there was not one at this location.

Pros: Good location right off the highway with a Denny's in the same parking lot. The woman at the front desk was very nice.
Cons: I had requested a non-smoking room and was given a smoking room which reeked of old smoke. The hotel itself was poorly kept up. The bath towels had large marks on them as if they had been run over by something.
5.0 Okay
Cons: The hotel smells like cigarettes. The room only smelled a little like that, but the halls were pretty bad. A corner of my room also smelled a little bit like pee, which was really disconcerting. The breakfast was also not a full breakfast or near it.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Staff was froendly
Cons: Old, dirty, mold in shower, holes in walls and some were patched but my 12 year old daughter could've done better. Had I not been so tired that I couldn't hold my eyes open, I wouldn't have stayed. Seriously thought of just sleeping in my car instead

Cons: The elephant in the room above us who carried out a dance party until 4:30am... not the hotels fault but as we were travelling through we did not get a restful nights sleep.

Pros: Well I must say location was a great thing rooms were very clean as you can expect for the star ratings pool was nice centrally-located to freeways and shopping cool
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Broken ac unit, small pillows, one towel only, no soap or shampoo/conditioner toiletries, and not even a trash can in the room! I'm homeless and wanted a decent night rest and i spent my last money on a room i shouldn't have.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was nice. The bed was comfortable, and basically it was a decent room.
Cons: We killed 2 cockroaches, but didn't see any others, nor any sign of any after that. The ice machine was broken, the light in the bathroom was hanging down, and the bathroom fan didn't work. Nothing is offered in the morning other than coffee.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The room was clean and near the freeway
Cons: They were no longer serving free breakfasts which was advertised and the blow dryer was stolen out of the room so none was provided and had to buy a new blow dryer at CVS across the street. We could not get into our room and the clerk had to open door

Pros: Location was good for access to the Stockton Arena. Staff was decent.
Cons: Moldy bathroom, cigarette burns in the coverlet (in a non-smoking room), key card access only worked half the time. The place needs maintenance overall. Rooms are subpar on cleanliness, nothing specific they just feel dirty. Didn't even dare to try the pool.

Pros: They're doing a lot to improve this motel in every area. I was impressed by the attentive front desk, security and housekeeping staff. After a long day of travel and disappointment Howard Johnson Stockton was a true gem to find. The King Suite was warmly decorated and clean. TV worked great. Highly recommend!
Cons: Pillows could be upgraded.

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The mattress quality was good - other than that the bed spread was stained an had multiple cigarette burns in it.
Cons: When we arrived we found out that they had given our rooms away, after calls to Kayak they put us in the 2 most disgusting rooms I've ever seen. They had not been cleaned, we found dirty under wear and a dirty sock. The bedding and carpets were stained and un serviced. We had to ask for TP & Towels. There was exposed wiring, electrical boxes hanging out of the walls. Electrical with tape and wire nuts exposed, no phone, no microwave and no Fridge. as advertised. The bathrooms hadn't been cleaned, the towel rack was pulled from the wall and on the floor. The front door was damaged and poorly repaired. They never officially checked us in, no credit card, no ID, no filling out paperwork just gave us room keys. I've never had an experience like this and I travel a lot. I took pictures if any one is interested. Don't go there ever!!! Will be filing a complaint with the city of San Jose - Health hazard! Safety Hazard! Guranteed disgust!
