Pros. In one sense, it is very good, that construction and development is prohibited any further in the Uluru area, for conserving sacred Anangu land. On the other hand, it makes for a captive consumer segment, with the Pioneer lodge dormitories the only affordable option under 40 dollars in the Ayer's Rock resort complex. Everything is basic. A/C was definitely appreciated. The December rains caused flooding all over the resort. The staff was always helpful and friendly. Grocery store nearby was very convenient.
Pros. Price & location near uluru. Nothing cheap on site though..but not surprising.
Pros. Nothing.
Cons. Beds were uncomfortable bunk beds. Shower was filthy with mold on tiles. Toilet stopped up after single use. Young, poorly trained staff. I get that we're a captive audience but 270 AUD a night for a room with bunk beds is just highway robbery, however you look at it.
Pros. Very friendly staff and rooms were always clean with a beautiful view of the rock at the lookout!
Pros. Staff was good.
Cons. There are only about five hotels in the area, so there is not much competition. So you're going to pay a lot more than you would in other cities.
