Rooms were bleak like a motel and rather uncomfortable.
The spa facilities, including heated pool were lovely.
However, the hotel in general was dated and the rooms were extremely basic, and the bed the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. Jules at front of house was fantastic, but everyone else was either average or bordering on rude. We tried calling the restaurant one night for room service food, after several attempts of no success we went downstairs to be told the restaurant is booked and therefore no food - this is not good enough, I am a guest as much as anyone else.
Food and staff in the restaurant were excellent. Breakfast was very good albeit the breakfast room was very busy so getting a chair took a few minutes.
More staff and more coffee machines are needed in breakfast room. Thermal areas are in 2 parts one public and one for hotel guests only. The "hotel only" pool was boring and not particularly warm, hence it was empty. The public thermal area was very busy on Sunday. Gym was OK but Japanese bath, hammam etc were just full to overflowing.
Situated in Yverdon-les-Bain, in the heart of a sumptuous tree-lined park, the Grand Htel & Centre Thermal has 116 spacious and elegant rooms, as well as 15 fully-equipped conference and banqueting halls. In addition, the hotel and spa boasts two restaurants, each with its own distinct identity, and a lounge bar. For those with a thirst for well-being, there are also four thermal pools, wellness centres, health and beauty zones and fitness facilities.
