Lovely room with double aspect views and veranda overlooking town and mountains. Could lie in bed and look at the Matterhorn (if it hadn't been obscured in cloud!) Lift to valley level was very handy.
Lovely, charming family-run hotel in a stunning location in Zermatt that's quiet and literally above it all on a hillside high above town (but accessible by an elevator & minutes from attractions). The hotel has a warm atmosphere and typical Swiss decor. We were given one of the best rooms in the house, with great Matterhorn views. Just spectacular. The pool and jacuzzi were a real added bonus -- especially after long hikes. They added immensely to our experience. The demi-pension option is good value for money; it was relaxing to come back each night to have a meal "waiting" without having to order or choose. The restaurant servers really worked hard to please, too. It was a relaxing, romantic getaway -- just as we'd hoped.
While we loved our time at the Alpenroyal, it was expensive, especially for off-season. While rooms are nice and clean, they are a bit dated and not luxurious. There was no safe in the room, no extra towels, or anything beyond basic amenities. One lamp was broken. If you want a robe, you have to rent one for 15CHF(about 10 Euros, $12). While this is good for the environment, when you're paying almost 275 CHF for a room, it feels stingy. A few small changes would really elevate the standard and experience. That said, I had a great time & would likely return.
Hotel Staffs are very nice and helpful. The room is cozy with spectacular view of the Matterhorn. The walking way in the tunnel leading to the lift is quite scary but it's cool anyway 555
The staff were very friendly and accomodating, even though they were due to close, they maintained a good service for us.
Michael was fantastic. Very nice personnality and very servicable.
Absolutely beautiful room - very well furnished.Good view from the room - the town itself is very nice and not crowded,
A small problem with this particular room (50) - the sink in the tub was taking long time to clear.
Good location and can clearly see Mt. Clean, quite and comfortable
We have traveled a great deal in Europe and the customer service at this hotel was excellent.
view of matterhorn from balcony
evening meal (fixed menu) was expensive compared with some other hotels, which we sampled another night, having a choice of courses at a better value
The Hotel has a stunning view of the Matterhorn. The service was very good.
