Pros: Nice view and could see sunrise in the morning. The host were very friendly and helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very friendly, always go out of the way to assist our needs and treated is like his friends. You can see the sunrise from the balcony and of lucky sea clouds too. The room while basic has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Cons: The place is a bit out of the way, about 20mins drive from Feng Qi Hu, and 1hr drive from Alishan visitor centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice place , room, staff amd it was beautiful should go again soon
Cons: All was nice
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean, Good Size Room and Friendly Hosts. Good lighting and not too cold as compared to staying at Alishan Home grown vegetables and home cooked Chinese food. Peaceful environment with good guide.
Cons: Recommendations: -To make up bed on daily basis. -WiFi is weak -To provide menu for dinner. -To revise charges for breakfast and dinner meals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is about the owners of this place. Although not English speakers, they were so touchy and expressive, I cannot find the words to describe their kindness. The location has a scenic view, the place is clean and pleasant. Thank you for everythinf
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We came to this facility with a group of 10 persons. Hosts are very friendly and hospitable. The dinners that they prepared for us are delicious with very fresh organic material from their garden. Rooms are clean and tidy. We are able to view the magnificent mountain view and sunrise from the facility. At night, you can view the stars and the milky way just outside of your room's door step.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were amazing! Uncle Lin loves Singapore and he is so excited to have us Singaporeans overs They go all the way out to make your stay enjoyable and fun. He also brought us around to visit the Laiji village which was the home of the indigenous people and his wife also cooked some meals for us. The view was really good as well. They have an elevated observation deck which gives a perfect direct view of the sun rising above the mountains. Very very beautiful and would highly recommend!
Cons: Nothing much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's operated by a family of 3 and they were amazing. We paid a little (just a little) bit extra and they prepared a BBQ for us for one night, it was really nice. Our quadruple rooms were really big. Do bring your own towel though, because they only have disposable ones and they are not very nice to use. Breathtaking views from outside your room if it's on the 2nd floor. And there were fireflies everywhere at night (April)! Did I mention the owner is a retired remedial masseur, pretty handy after long drives!
Cons: No credit card facility, cash only.

Located in Zhuqi, Chiayi Alishan Starlight Forest Homestay is within a 15-minute drive of Kuai Yi Forest Village and Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park. Featured amenities include luggage storage, refrigerator in a common area, and a water dispenser. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful trip in the starlight forest B&B. Hostess took us visit the tea plantation and introduced the process of making tea with English. It gives us a deep impression. The view here is gorgeous, too.
6.8 Good
Pros: The view from the hotel terrace is stunning, from morning mist to sunset – we could have watched it all day. And the breakfast sure was delicious, just very... taiwanese. There's rice porridge, pork, seaweed and steamed vegetables – and excellent local tea.
Cons: Since we came mostly for the view we were very disappointed to find ourselves in a room with no window. In fact, it was a renovated garage thus not really comfortable and freezing cold at nights. When we arrived to check-in there was nobody there who spoke English so we had to wait for a friend of the owner to come back from a hike. Not a big deal, but we didn't feel very welcome. Also, they didn't accept our credit cards so make sure to bring cash (no ATMs up there). The description says the hotel has a restaurant – in truth you can choose to have dinner, or not. But there's no menu, you just eat what is served and it's very expensive. On the plus side: it was both good and plenty.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, friendly staff, big room, clean, comfy beds

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners are so wonderful people. They arranged dinner and breakfast at their home with their whole family. This is my first experience to have an opportunity to eat with locals at their home. Their two daughters are so cute and adorable. The lodge location is awesome right on the top of mountain surrounded with tea farms in all directions and view from there is fantastic. Very peaceful location as no houses near by and you just sulk in the silence of nature. Blissful experience. Thank you Taishin and family.
Cons: None.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great comfortable bed with hot shower. The bamboo tracks around the place is delightful. Breakfast is amazing and the owners are lovely. Highly recommend

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The scenery there is to die for. Being able to stay in a treehouse. And superb host - very accomodating, brings us around whenever requested. If possible, opt for their home cooked dishes too!:)
Cons: The only down side is the travelling and frequency of bus. Because theres only two busses per day. Do plan your time well
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The homestay owner is really a multitasking man, he cook nice food , drive us around and attend to our last minute request .
Cons: Nothing....
6.8 Good
Pros: I really liked the atmosphere as well as the lodging. Small elevated wood cabins makes for a unique and rustic feeling. The owner seemed friendly enough and quite willing to help with anything you need.
Cons: There's nowhere to eat aside from the dining hall. All the food was a bit lackluster. They served lunchboxes for lunch one day, pretty terrible. Much of the premises are unkempt and in disrepare, making it just on the fine line between rustic getaway and backwoods shanty town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best experience I’ve had in Taiwan. The location and view is unbelievable and the treehouse style rooms exceptional. The hosts look after you so well and offer you options to see tea plantations, fireflies, temples and show you where to walk to the waterfalls or catch the bus. The English is through google translate and works very well. I can’t revommend this place enough - and look forward to returning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, amazing People, amazing food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Don't expect something too luxurious, because that is not what this is. This B&B is a great escape in the Taiwanese countryside far away from the crowds that come with tourbusses to Alishan Mountain. For us it was definitely the highlight of our 10 day trip trough Taiwan. We stayed in a room that was like a treehouse. The bedroom is basic, but very cozy. There is a toilet and a hot shower in the room. Be prepared to wake up with the sunrise. The surroundings are stunning and the guesthouse is close to a nice hikingtrail that will lead you along some nice waterfalls. The village itself is very well maintained and there are some beautiful houses. The people in the village are very welcoming (to western visitors). The place is family owned and these people are very sweet. They don't speak any English, but with the translation App a world will open up for you. They will take you for a tour trough the village and they will take you for nightwalk to see the thousants firefly's they have in the village. Dinner and breakfast are not from the menu, but they are very tasty.
Cons: There are a couple of roosters that do their best to get you an early start of the day
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were far away from the property and havd no vehicle to come there due to our timing misunderstanding. The host although did't speak English, he tried to arrange the vehicle to pick us up and prepared for us the super great dinner for free. We really had a wonderful time here with the warm welcome and interesting experiences like the fireflies sightseeing, sunrise and tea hill sightseeing and especially Zhukeng river trail. Maybe tourists usually like Fenqihu or Alishan but I highly recommend they try to find the beautiful and peaceful at Meishan, and stay with Laihome. The room were extremely beautiful with very nice view balcony and all the cleanliness, tidy and full funishing you need. We enjoy hot tea, coffee, cakes and every meals they made for us. After we leaved, the host sent some beautiful photos of us that we were so surprised. Thanks so much for the help, the frienliness and warmth of the host and also the local people here. I love Taiwan!
7.5 Good
Pros: Different and unusual. Not really comforts of other hotels but was fun and adventurous. Owner cooked a meal (had to pay) but it brought all the guest together and that was good. Took us for a night stroll. Children will enjoy the atmosphere
Cons: Unless you speak Chinese you may have to resort to sign language. Have to be careful when driving there. Must have GPS
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Discusting
Cons: Not cleam
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This treehouse is fantastic. it's a very romantic place to stay for couples. Even though it does take some time to navigate, it worths it! Momo will take you to the trail where has a lot of astonishing spings and bridges. We also enjoyed every meal they prepared for us!

Cons: very basic accommodation
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. The hosts / owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They offered to pick us up from the Shizhuo village and take us back upon our departure as well. Upon arrival offered their refreshing local tea which we appreciated it a lot. The nature / hiking paths and the sunset view near the facility are breathtaking. The rooms are simple but very clean . There is a restaurant nearby which serves amazing Taiwanese food for 300 NTD / person at 6 PM. A perfect getaway from Taipei for the weekend.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: An absolutely stunning location. The Cuiti BnB family were very kind, picking us and our two children up in Fenchihu and welcoming us with a shared tea ceremony on arrival. It is far from the village, so bring an easy dinner to make, and enjoy the serenity and scenery. We walked all around through the tea plantations and admired both the daytime and nighttime views all the way down to the city (Chiayi) in the distance. A great stay, and a cosy, clean room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is nice and attentive to show you around if you are able to communicate in English
Cons: Some parts a bit humid. A bit expensive for what you get.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simple, friendly, local guesthouse located on one of the most beautiful tea farms I have ever seen. Hiking trails nearby. The owner took us on a walk through the fields and we saw people picking the leaves. Also picked us up in Fenqihu, and gave use great advice for a short hike with my kids. He was also kind enough to come to our room and let us know when a gorgeous sunset was happening. They also sell their amazing tea.
Cons: Couldn't have been better. If you can't speak Chinese, you might have a little trouble communicating. It's isolated, so bring any food you need. They provide breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful situated tea farm, just slightly off the main tourist roads. Close to good hiking trail and with very helpful staff. [have your translation app at hand, in case you want to have an extended chat with them in English]
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and accessible to all walking treks! Fresh air.
Cons: Nil
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We arrived late at night, the hosts were waiting for us at the bus station in the rain. Which was very appreciated, We have a lovely tea with the son who speaks some English and the father when we arrived. The view is beautiful from the room, we woke up for sunrise and had a walk around the tea plantations near the house and watched the sun-rise on the mountains opposite. The bananas they grow there are best we've ever eaten!
Cons: Rooms were basic but clean. If you want to eat dinner but arrive late without your own transport it is a bit tricky. But the son kindly let us know this before we left Shizhou village from the bus, so we could buy something at the 7eleven.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Set right in the midst of tea plantations, this building is one of a few around you, all of which are inhabited by the owner and his family. The mists are thick here, for the most part, and all the greenery you come across, from forests of Japanese cedar to dense thickets of bamboo, become mystical. Some 1500m above sea level, it is much cooler than down in Chiayi (the nearest city) and one can enjoy going for extended walks without overheating, although some may feel the effect of the higher altitude on their breathing. The owner and his son were delightful and always present at the property to chat to us, point out the stars in the night sky, and, most enjoyably, invite us to drink tea, "eum cha". We didn't clock until later that this tea ceremony was really quite a special thing, and that, in fact, the tea that they grew on their plantation and we drank was world renowned.
Cons: For some reason we had 4 cumbersome pieces of luggage between 4 of us and, given a room on the third floor, it was some work to move into and out of our room. Also, there didn't seem to be rooms smaller than a quadruple (2 doubles), but I may be wrong.

Pros: Location
Cons: Bed
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We drove there. 2 adults and 3 young kids. Book the 4 bed room and it was really comfortable and spacious enough. Breakfast was good and staff gave us more when we requested. There are restaurants and 7-11 and Hi-Life 950m away. Location is 45min away from Alishan recreation area. Best thing about the place is their outdoor dining area and viewing deck. Rooms at Alishan isn’t cheap. This could be an option if you want a nice room with breakfast.
Cons: Price can be lower but I cannot find anything decent...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fiona and Mr. Lee 李 are very helpful, sincere and welcoming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of, including cooking . dinner for us when we had arrived late and dinner options were no longer available.
Cons: The room smelt damp. But I think this is because of the rainy weather and extremely high humidity.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent customer service! Quick to reply to emails and requests. Can communicate in English. The owner and staff (Vernie and Yoko) were very accommodating. Went out of their way to buy our surprise birthday cake for my friend, and arrange packed breakfast for us. Even assisted and provided ice pack and bandage for my friend who sprained her ankle. Shuttle service is always on time. Beautiful location. Serene surroundings. We can hear crickets, birds, owls all day and night. Nice view of the mountains, tea plantation, and sea of clouds.
Cons: Thicker mattress and more pillows would have been nice, but we had no problem sleeping anyway. The sound of nature and the warm comforter were great. There's no aircon so I woke up around 2am feeling warm. I just set aside the comforter and had no problem going back to sleep.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent homecook breakfast and dinner using fresh highland vegetables from their back garden. Very close to many walking trails in the region. Better than alishan recreational area. Their dog (mantou) guided us to the sakura path.
Cons: Dinner serves at 6pm. It's perfect timing to view sunset over the tea field, but it's too early.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It's very quiet and private. The host came out to receive us and offered rides to nearby trails and food outlet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing ! It is in the middle of the tea plantations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views. Delicious breakfast. Convenient location close to centre with bus stop and close to nice trails.

Pros: Super peaceful and quite, owner made some nice tea for us and offered us an outdoor space to make more tea if we want to. We got lucky with the weather so we had a really breathtaking view of the mountains.
Cons: Nothing could be better with that price, but if only the place was less dusty then it’s amazing
7.5 Good
Pros: Small but cozy place to stay, fresh air, wonderful view, the owner treated us with good tea, they also have an open tea house for us to have hot tea and spend quality time with our family. I was woken up by the rooster and birds in early morning, good Taiwanese style homemade breakfast. Price is pretty fair.
Cons: The road to the homestay is narrow, dark, and steep.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great view The owner was so nice. Good breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice remote location. Bit primitive but reasonably comfortable. The view around is nice.
Cons: Went there by scooter. Bit of a pain to get to. 15 minutes from fencihu by scooter. Longer if raining or foggy. Not a lot nearby.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is so sweet that he picked my friend and I up when we were lost. He also took us to a nearby bus stop the next morning so that we could take a bus to Mt. Ali. The room was clean and comfortable. I can see the sunrise in it. And the breakfast was simple but delicious❤ Anyway, this property is worth staying
Cons: It's hard to find a store near the property.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners picked us up from a shop nearby. Invited us to a nice tea ceremony. Conversation took place partly in English partly with google translator. Lovely views, nice walks possible. Original Taiwanese breakfast was very good
Cons: The owners should write English name on some road signs please as it is quite hard to find the location

Pros: The owner is very friendly and always take care of our needs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is a nice little hotel close to Alishan (40min) by car. The host is very friendly and speaks enough English to have a basic conversation. If the weather is good, you can have breakfast on the terrace which has a great view!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Despite the distance from Fenchihu Station to the honored property, the owner was very very responsive and kind to us by offering us advices/transportation to their property. Since we intend to venture to Alishan on the same day we arrived at Fenchihu, the owner assist us to carry our luggages to the hotel and we proceeded on our journey to Alishan. And owner also provided us transportation back to Fenchihu Station upon checking out next day. The fresh air on said property is really healthy and may lengthen your life span in such an environment
Cons: It is only the distance from Fenchihu Station to property, but that did not pose an hindrance at all.

6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel has some charm to it and is well located within the village.
Cons: Although we stayed for two nights, our room didn’t get cleaned. The towels were reaped for some and the blanket wasn’t big enough to cover 2 people. A bit overpriced for the quality offered.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and big, clean as well. Very good location. Chinese breakfast.
Cons: The room, although the weather was quite cool, could definitely use an air conditioning unit. We got quite hot during the night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Overall is good but may consider to serve more variety of breakfast especially children friendly dishes would be great. *Exp: sausages & bread.
Cons: Room is perfect. But the ventilation in bathroom may need to improve because is smelly once we step into the room, light bulb in bathroom is also abit dim. May also consider to provide coffee spoon so that guest are able to make their own hot beverages for children/adult. The dinning area located at 1 floor is very slippery, this may not a convenience place for old folks and family with pram.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Facilities are too old
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb. But it should be clear that one cannot travel with the train from Fenchihu to Alishan as the train track is not yet been repaired since the last major earthquake. Fenchihu is nonetheless delightful.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff Free guided tours organised by the hotel Tasty lunch box
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The overall is calm and comfort to stay, the staff are kind and friendly. Definitely will visit again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the feel of this place; it was very much in keeping with the surrounding forests and mountains. The location was great for onward travel to Alishan or just to explore the trails around Fenchihu. The staff were helpful and I would happily have stayed longer but we were only here for one night. I'd also definitely recommend getting the train to Fenchihu from Chiayi!
Cons: It took us a little while to find the place after getting off the train but so long as you know the hotel is in the same building as the 7-Eleven you should be OK. Didn't get a chance to try the breakfast as we had to leave early. No real complaints.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful with information on tours, hiking trails and bus and train timetables. The location is right next to the station, which was particularly helpful since we got 150mm of rain in the three hours after I arrived. The bed is probably the most comfortable I've had in a month of travelling in East Asia! Breakfast is Chinese style, but if you're looking for banana pancakes you're in the wrong country.
Cons: Not the fault of the hotel, but in Fenchihu there is very, very little to do after dark. You could always keep your window open and let the fireflies in! That happened to me by accident. It was quite a show.
7.0 Good
Pros: I like the delicious breakfast consisting of porridge and mainly different types of vegetables. The staff was tremendously helpful and patiently wrote down the timing of the buses and trains to various attractions. The free daily conducted tours were an added bonus. The bento meal was appetising.
Cons: The place is old and rundown. It needs renovation.
Young Young - Meishan - Bedroom
14
8.1 Excellent (58 reviews)
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: No one to comunicate with in English, the room wasn't clean and the same goes with towels and bedsheets with stains, gaz tank was dangerously blocking the door to the patio, wifi wasn't working most of the time, parking was far away, breakfast wasn't served at time (and there was no one around to ask about that - they cought us as we were already checking out), and they reported a "no show" on us even though we were there and fully paid and never apologized!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is great if you hv big luggages to lug. As it’s right at the doorstep of the train station. The owner Ms Lin is very hospitable..
Cons: Could do with bigger towel for showering.
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the sumptuous and delicious breakfast, see picture. The room was spacious and clean with a Japanese style sliding door. We had a complimentary black sugar konnyaku jelly snack from the owner, who also sells that in their shop next door. Location is just one flight of stairs from the train station, about 5 mins walk. If you are coming by bus, it is a longer walk down flights of stairs or steep slopes. Accommodation is located right in the middle of the Fenchihu old street so rather convenient for shopping. There are trekking trails nearby too.
Cons: 1. The wifi was weak, only 1 bar at the 4th floor room we stayed at. 3. It was troublesome to go up and down the stairs to use the washroom. The entrance to the accommodation was on the 2nd floor and we were allocated the highest room on the 4th floor despite mentioning via email that my 65 year old Mother was coming with me. It was 2 long flights of stairs up with luggages in tow. The 2 shared washrooms were on the 3rd and 2nd floor and we had to share those with the guests in 2 other rooms on the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor washroom had 2 doors, one joining a guest room and the other door facing the common corridor. On the 2nd night, the guests on the 3rd floor locked the washroom from the inside and made it their private washroom. We had to seek the help of the guesthouse daughter on opening it. We noticed it was locked again in the morning. Most of the time, we had to make do with going up and down 2 flights of stairs to use the washroom on the 2nd floor. We later learnt that the guesthouse lady was hospitalised at short notice and left her helper to assist us with check in. She apologised to us for the miscommunication and said that she had initially wanted to allocate the 1st floor room with ensuite toilet to us.

Cons: The husband not very kind and collaborative. He turn off the coffeemaker twice just before I used it.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was raining heavily and I was so glad that my 11am bus #7329 from Chiayi HSR actually stopped right in front of the hotel. Early check-in was given and appreciated. I love the Teochew style breakfast (congee with a variety of ingredients). Walkable to nearby attractions. Free Aiyu jelly provided for hotel guests.
Cons: Not a problem with the hotel. It was raining heavily throughout day to night and route to Alishan was blocked, fireflies at night were also few. Paid quite a lot for the hotel (due to weekend rate until the rain happened and everyone else started to cancel their booking because of the harsh weather and road block). And when you decide to go ahead with checking in the hotel in view of the bad weather with the non-discounted price, you simply can't find the stay value for money and there is simply nothing much to do once evening comes.
5.0 Okay
Pros: No
Cons: Walk in rate is TWD4160 whereas we are paying TWD5900 via booking.com This is first time we are using booking.com which give us very bad experience about this online service :( According to the owner the rate TWD 4160 for 2 nite start since 20/05/2019 whereas our booking via booking.com is on 27/05/2019. Give me a reason why we are paying higher then walk in rate :(

Pros: Very friendly staff who offered tea and food. A place nestled in the majestic forest.

Pros: Lady boss is very helpful and it was recommended for small group of 4-6 to check out with them for a full day local guided tour at a. Fee. The solo will travel on public transport which is located before the hotel.
