Whilst en route for the south of France, this was a wonderful find for an overnight stop and just over 4 hours driving south of Calais. We were given a very warm welcome, the room was entirely satisfactory, the beds more comfortable than many and the food was excellent. The hotel possibly needs a bit of care to the external decor but, overall, we were thrilled with our find and strongly recommend it.
The decor of the room was very pleasing with good quality furnishings. It is also good to have your own private door straight into your room from outside in the grounds of the hotel. It was October but the central heating was not on. We did have an oil heater in the room but it didn't feel enough. The room felt cold and damp and the bathroon just ran with condensation. We were booked in for several days but only stayed for one.The hotel grounds looked neglected.
Location, excellent bed, kindness, restaurant, atmosphere. Bathrooms need some refurbishing
The evening meal choice for out of season on a Monday was the best we have ever had at a Logis-- we still talk about the meal to friends --the wine choice was excellent value and the owner was passionate about further regeneration of the sawmill -- such a great cost The rooms are in need of some tlc but the owner will get there with great cost investment -- but the evening meal is the high point
The hotel was delightfully situated and the rooms comfortable. The dinner was excellent and good value for money. The manageress is English, which may be a put-off for those wanting the full French experience, but was charming and helpful. Only one thing: the shower, which was over the bath, was one of the hand-held variety and, without a shower curtain, this means that water gets sprayed everywhere. We would have preferred a wall-mounted shower with a shower curtain. It's a minor point, though.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were professional and the food outstanding!
we sleep well and have a excelent dinner and breakfast
Lovely welcome. Superb food. Friendly & helpful staff No shower in bathroom. Some modernisation of room/bathroom would be good.
Pleasant owner I chose monkfish - just this side of rubbery served with brussel sprouts and slivers of red pepper - bizarre concoction. Citron sauce bitter. I have eaten all over Europe in last 6 months and this was second worst meal altho it claimed to be a restaurant gastronomique. I felt queasy for days after Room shabby -needed a thorough overhaul. Bathroom very shabby. I always use Active hotels and this was not up to the standard I have come to expect.
Very comfortable bed and pleasant room.staff very pleasant.Relaxing. Would have preferred lower price/level choice of food to be available as we were not tourists looking for a gourmet type meal. Also we were not offered the choice of type of cheese dish and were too tired to request change.
Beautiful location. Fantastic food. Lovey bathroom. Friendly staff. Very clean. Bedroom was very shabby.
Wonderful very large double bed, spacious room and excellent (if being the Bourgogne quite expensive) restaurant. Many staff spoke very good English. Next to the road - now ok as in autumn/winter one has the window shut, but in the summer it could be quite noisy.
Very nice setting and good cuisine, excellent choice of wines. Noise isolation of the rooms - terrible
Excellent location for trip through France, courteous staff, comfortable rooms. Although we enjoyed our overnight stay we felt we were conned with the dinner menu. We ordered two courses from the menu of the day handed to us by the waitress. The food was excellent but the following day we discovered that the bill was twice as much as expected. Hidden in the small print was a note saying the price shown for the menu of the day only applied at lunch time, not in the evening. We we not given that information when ordering and in fact we ordered off the 'menu of the day'' selection. I appreciate that we were in France and the menu was written in French, but there is no excuse for not informing guests that offers only apply for certain times of the day. For that reason alone I could not recommend the hotel.
courtesy, efficiency and humourousness of hosts and staff
This is the nicest place we have stayed in our 3 month holiday. It is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and helpful, and the food is to die for. It is only 1.5hrs to Paris by car and right next to Champagne so the perfect place to setup to explore the region. We just simply loved this place and wish we could have stayed forever!
The hotel complex is very beautiful. The excellent food is a real gastronomic experience. The owners are very nice and friendly. The rooms are modest but comfortable. None.
The food is fantastic - one star michelin without official rating
Peaceful location and rural charm. Very good restaurant. Excellent value for money. Bright overhead lighting in restaurant. Some table lamps, lower lighting would improve ambiance.
Cleanliness, attentive staff, quiet, comfort. Excellent restaurant next door.
Friendly staff and good breakfast Small rooms
The hotel was a clean, friendly environment. The breakfast was also good, with a variety of choices. The room was quite small and because we had a cot in our room it made the room even smaller but it did what we wanted it to do, which was give us a clean, friendly place to stay for a night.
The welcome by the manageress , her willingness to arrange dinner for us, and the comfort of the room as an overnight stop
Efficient and friendly atmosphere. Car park spacious and secure. Nothing caused us a problem.
Friendly staff - willingness to accommodate our need for early breakfast plus choice at breakfast time The rooms were looking a bit old and tired and my daughter's room had a cracked sink and a tile missing in the bathroom
Although basic the accommodation was clean and acceptable. There was no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room.
Its proximity to the motorway They had no knowledge of my booking - but accepted my booking ref and alloated me aroom
Rooms could be a larger
Ease of access to hotel from roads to Troyes, and access to and from room (hotel all on one level)
