very run down, very poor quality food. Shabby rooms and decoration
Value for Money and the food was excellant Outside noise at 3.30am caused by yobba's shouting and swearing
Cheap & convenient for the ferry to France following morning.. We were 'upgraded' to a premier room as the first 3 rooms we were sent to already had people in them! Needs updating & a good clean.
restuarant and restaurant staff were ok, close to channel tunnel there was suppose to be a bottle of wine in the room as special offer, I was told it would be there by reception staff but it wasnt, rang reception but they didnt seem interested and never got the wine, also reception very slow with long waits in which time I saw and heard a lot disatisfied customers, poor reception staff and porters seems to the main problem
cheep and breakfast was good
The hotel is a little out of date, in need of a refurb..
Happy hour was very good and so was the food= the creation of the xmas atmosphere was excellent
Large room, Good value for money. Just what we needed for an overnight stop before catching an early morning ferry. Bathroom needed revamping.
Run down hotel, poorly maintined Nothing, I will never return!
sea view from balcony, Decent hot water from shower. Nostalgic visit as last time was 32 years ago old fashioned decor/ceilings, was run like a very touristic hotel in spain, without the weather or spanish waiters. Bar area was big but resembled a bingo hall, no atmosphere, felt cold.
Excellent value. Food and accomodation excellent for the rate paid. Very little room in the car park for the amount of guest staying at the hotel.
conveniently situated for attending leas cliff room / hotel in general could do with updating / redecorating
Nothing particularly Very tired and jaded - though we got a large room there were many niggly unsatisfactory items - broken shower curtain - unstuck wallpaper - windows that were nailed shut - really the list is endless
The proprietor was kind and helpful. The room was very quiet. The hotel is a bit run down. The coffee was awful.
The friendly staff and "old world" victorian setting. N?A
Convenient situation for local amenities Would have liked a hairdryer in room
the efficiency of the staff, and the location Unfortunately the shower head was cracked and there were no shower gels supplied... ( bad planning on my part ) AND those damn SEAGULLS.... ear plugs next time....
Nice but very old hotel in need of restauration. The bathroom
Our room was very clean and the downstairs bar had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom, although well appointed, the workmanship of the fitters was poor which gave it a rather shabby appearance, The spacious bedroom had minimal heating and the wind through the closed sash windows blew the curtains. I would not want to stay there in cold weather.
Did'nt stay in it long enough to really enjoy anything. We were out and about exploring Folkestone Breakfast
Only stayed overnight on route to France. But found it ideal for a one night stop.
Very friendly staff. None
Hospitality from Chris and Sarah Free drinks, DVDs, wireless, etc. Breakfast was very good Parking was a bit tricky but the hotel has 2 private parking places down the road.
Excellent stay! The Relish was wonderful and we will definately be returning next year. Rooms were beautiful, very clean and stylish. Cake and coffee was great too. Only down side was the pillows were too soft!.
The helpfulness and warm welcome, lush comfortable room with fantastic shower.
The location was perfect for the 40th wedding anniversary party we attended at the Leas Cliff Hall and also to access the beach the following morning for a lovely stroll towards Sandgate and back through the nature park/trail. We will bring our bikes next time as perfect for leisure cycle. Complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and cakes very nice touch and delicious tasting too! The breakfast was also very good. We stayed in the Cliff top room and had a fabulous view of the white cliffs of Dover, just as it said we would on the website. No bad points to report as our experience was very good.
Nicely decorated and furnished. Friendly staff. Very clean. The cooked breakfast was lukewarm and we didn't feel that the bacon had been cooked enough.
Very good friendly excellent service really could not fault it. Could do with a lift and parking was a problem
The staff were so friendly and the hotel was spotless. It was like having all the comforts of home with a very high standard of elegance, style and class. I love the idea of the kitchen with fresh drinks and homemade cake that we could use as often as we like and the breakfast was also fantastic. I would definately recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.
The room was beautifully decorated, excellent facilities throughout the hotel including a coffee machine downstairs where you could help yourself anytime.
Clean and comfortable, very friendly hostess. The toast had mould on the crust-very unexpected. The car had to be parked on the road and this is not indicated in the details of the hotel. Very tight parking on a busy road.
the room and hotel was very clean. The ensuite was very small and my partner had problems using it as he is 6ft 6" tall, I also had problems and I am only 5ft 6". The lack of parking we didnt know until we go there that we could have reserved a space. I also didnt like the £1 charge for paying by debit card.
The owner was very helpful and accomodating organising our breakfast the night before as we had to leave the hotel at 6am the next morning for the channel tunnel crossing.
Had to leave early morning and they gave us breakfast in a cooler box - very nice idea. Needed to rush out and with the confusion I forgot my ring - owner went out of his way and posted it - much appreciated !
Spotlessly clean room and en suite shower room.
Pleasant management The en-suite was a bit small and cupboard like. Ok for 1 night but would not recommend for a long stay.
Owner was extremely welcoming and courteous - nothing was too much trouble. The room was quite small but this was fairly reflected in the price and as such was good value for money. It was clean and had all the facilties.
Very clean, fresh, well presented. Spotless !. breakfast very good - First class overall ! Top floor room with cases -a little difficult but not a critisisum
Easy to find, Proprietor very helpful
we had a wedding to go to and the lady who run the BB lets us in early so we could get change after a long joruney, she was very kind , would go back.
Clean. Quiet. Efficient. Good choice of breakfast. Parking adequate but not totally convenient
friendly host, convenient location but only one night stay to form opinion
Although I arrived late and left early I was treated well. Would recommend for a budget break.
Very friendly and clean. Brilliant full English breakfast. Comfortable room, even for 2 adults and 1 child. No.
I found the location ideal for my visit and the hotel and room were extremely clean and the staff very helpful. The ability to have an early breakfast, 7am, enabled me to reach the cruise terminal easily by 8am. i would use the hotel again.
Peaceful and adequate for an overnight on way to continent.
Very helpful staff, tasty breakfast
Friendly welcome and good value. Near to Channel Tunnel. Location near restaurants. Parking a bit of a gamble but OK off-season.. The sausages and the coffee! But for £3 breakfast it was excellent value. No complaints.
very clean and comforable, freindly and helpful staff, very close to town centre and railway station
Convenient to central Folkestone Rooms shabby and in poor decorative condition. Wash and shower facilities archaic. No car parking available. Screaming seagulls all night!
Clean helpfull staff good sea view very quite hotel Curtains and bed spread a little old flush toilet not quite good windows not very clean
Leaving Total lack of cleanliness. The shower hadn´t been cleaned in months.
breakfast the bed was very uncomfortable, shower was shabby and took 10 min for hot water to come through. TV was was very poor. Poor curtains and nets.
It was for only one night The lift kept breaking down and I was on the fourth floor
location and accessability to town yes the washing facilities were in the bedroom
The location of the hotel is excellent for the event at the Leas Cliffe Hall which we were attending. Breakfast was good, and the hotel staff very courteous and kind. The shower and bathroom facilities were a bit modest, and there was no provision to be near a mirror if one wanted to use a hair dryer.
flexibility. They accommodated my need for an early breakfast on departure day Clean, tidy, easy reach of rest of Folkestone. everything was absolutely fine and good value for money
very good breakfast......quick check in and out.....good position on sea front clifftop no shower or similar attachment in bathroom....no remote for tv.....noisy seagulls but could not close the window...had to park car about 400 yards away.....small rooftop room but probably due to availability and late booking
The hotel was comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful....
We only stayed for one night - but the staff were very helpful and friendly Only thing I would say is that our bed was not very comfortable - as we rolled into the bed, so we didn't have a great night's sleep.
Friendly service. Excellent breakfast. Offroad parking, good location No ensuite facility
Friendly efficient staff, freshly cooked food. Wi Fi did not reach the upper floors, no lift
Handy for purpose of visit
Room was very clean, Bed very comfortable and shower works well. Heating not on in room when we arrived - room was quite cold and took a while to warm up.
Clean and Friendly
friendly staff, good breakfast, free wifi Top floor room with an electric heater which took a while to make the room comfortable, cold bathroom, no chair in room. Musty smell in hallways (no smell in room, though)
Hosts made us very welcome including the dog. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Shower difficult to regulate. Needed andother chair in the room.
The owner was very welcoming and settled us in before taking our breakfast order for the following morning (I opted for the excellent cooked English breakfast, not included in the price but well worth paying a little bit extra for), as was the porridge). The castle is just a short walk away and there is an excellent pub round the corner which does a good meal (but don't worry, it's quiet). The rooms we had were spacious and comfortable, with ensuite shower and a tea tray for a morning cuppa. You can also leave your bags there on check out day and collect them later. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. No complaints, it was excellent all round.
Very freindly, quiet area, got a good nights kip Nothing
,breakfast good, front door locked untill 4pm inconvenient, room very cold heating not turned on till late afternoon, television does not work very well no sound on some channels, was told couldnt do anything,?could not recommend
friendly, helpfull and the facilities were excelant
Good single rooms which are difficult to come by. Hotel was in a good position and central Nothing
Comfortable, spacious accomadation, quiet but close enough to walk to the town centre facilites. Ease of booking in and leaving inthe morning.
The room was excelent, very tastefully decorated the breakfast consisted of only coffee toast and marmalade, no OJ or choice of bread or jams
The hotel itself is very nice, good rooms Bit disappointed that the restaurant was shut otherwise a good stay, clients do need to be aware that it seems to be more or less unmanned from 9 pm ( which I consider early as I work out of hotels more than 3 days a week & most are fully functioning until the early hours, both here & in europe in my experience) offers Wi Fi apparently but we were not told about this which was irritating as I was working trying to send e-mails until well after 10 pm
Friendly, welcoming staff -
my wife and have stayed at this hotel before and we were pleased to say that it was as good as ever
excellent friendly owners, very well presented rooms
The staff were great, very friendly and kind. The hotel was very cozy, warm and welcoming. My husband and I stayed there for one weekend night for his birthday and we really enjoyed it. I asked the reception to arrange some birthday balloons and cake in the room before our arrival, and I should say they did one excellent job!! That was really sweet. The nature around the hotel is incredible, especially the beach which is like 10-15 minutes walk. The food was amazing, and specially the English breakfast!! This hotel was one of our best trip experiences ever.
The rooms were nice and spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. It was cold and the heating did not appear to work. The shower over the bath was not working, many of the light bulbs were not working and the sofa's were uncomfortable and there was no fresh milk in the fridge for tea/coffee which we would have expected for 100 pounds per nightl
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the food was great.
Helpful staff, comfortable and nice breakfast.
Even though not far from the city centre of Dover this hotel is located in a very calm village with great views. The restaurant is good. The bathrooms are not in line with the level of the hotel
Friendliness and willingness to deal with shortcomings (e.g. heating) very quickly. We experienced one of the most comfortable nights sleep away from home. The bedroom was somewhat dark which could be rectified with a brighter choice of colours (ie matching pale jade ilo gold wall covering) but this did not detract from the overall comfort.
good hotel easy access to ferry port
Staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Slightly noisy in the latter part of the evening with other people banging doors and talking loudly when we were trying to get to sleep, but nothing to serious to complain about.
helpful staff, excellent evening meal and good location
Personal attention. Also the breakfast was OK.
Nothing Smell in room, carpet in toilet was stained and had living things on it lift it and tiles the floor will make a better night stay.
Convenient location for Channel Tunnel A bit grubby and lacking in some facilities
Staff were very friendly. Rooms were old and tired.
very close to the concert venue we were attending, Lea Cliff hall could do with a splash of paint
The hotel is a old style , but very friendly ( for people and pets), very clean and you can find everything what you need for staing over night or a few nights. Very good price.
that it was cheap and near the beach! It was cheap and cheerful and in need of a re-vamp, the shower was a plastic tube connected to the taps with no shower curtain! bit of a disaster. But the linen was clean and it served the purpose of a cheap place to stay for the night.
Comfort and service
Staff member stayed open to allow me to register despite arriving very late. This Hotel is in very poor decorative order with poor ventilation and the TV did not even work.
The friendliness and home from home atmosphere of the landlady. The cleanliness and views were excellent as was the breakfast.
It was a tranquil and comfortable stay, with a very nice host and a perfect room :-) -
The room wih the beautiful view overlooking the sea & beyond the coastal part of France! The landlady was very friendly & made us feel like home! An ideal country side hotel to stay & relax!
A warm welcome from guesthouse owner Mrs McDuff. Accommodation is comfortable and homely. Good breakfast. Guesthouse is ideally situated less than a ten minutes drive from the Eurotunnel terminal. Makes for a perfect stop over to break up a journey to the continent.
Very comfortable room, marvellous breakfast, highly recommended.
close to euro tunnel
Great location, the area surrounding the house is beautiful! Henrica, the owner, is very kind and she makes a very good breakfast. Clean and comfortable...rate 10!
Comfort, quietness, hospitality, lovely home and room The shower had low pressure
The garden, the friendly owner and the beautiful countryside and walks. The heating was turned off during a cold snap.
The views and warm welcome
Very good service & accommodation. Clean & reassuring. None
The room was a great size We called to confirm our reservation and the morning staff changed it to next day arrival. So on arrival it took an extra 15 min to get us sorted out. This was after a 3 hour drive and 8pm at night. Then after they sorted out a room demanded payment before we got the keys.
Comfortable stay, rooms clean and tidy Restaurant food not the best, steak tough. Very dark in restaurant.
I particularly liked the 'traditional' feel of the Hotel which was welcoming, very well maintained and extremely spacious. It has a certain 'charm' that one doesn't feel very often - and I stay in various Hotels on a weekly basis.
Limited facilities and felt a little bit unclean
Excellent friendly staff & service, especially the young lady on the bar down stairs on the night of the 16th sept an asset to the hotel. None
Convenient location Restaurant food quality poor
Easy access good location choice of restaurant bar meals and as a motorcyle traveller in room hairdryer was good. Limited parking
Our room was really lovely. And all the staff were so helpful with our baby, going out of their way to make her happy! Our room was opposite one of the function suites, and on our first night there was a function on. It was very loud and carried on til quite late, and the noise kept waking the baby up.
The hotel is good value if you can get a deal, like we did. The staff were helpful and the room although compact, was nice and clean.
The price was very reasonable. Good location 10 mins from train station. Handy for ferry. The paint was peeling from one wall and bed linen could do with renewing.
We arrived via the Eurotunnel, and it's fairly close to the tunnel port and very close to the sea. Excellent location! The staff was very friendly, and the room was clean as it should be. Checking in via the bar of the club is sub-optimal ;-)
Close to town center. Very good view over the Channel. Nice size of room. Easy to find. The breakfast was not very exciting - not what we expect from a continental breakfast. It was very simple, but what we got was ok. Parking was a bit difficult and worst case you need to park in a "park and display" area.
staff were extremely helpful
nice people and very good thai restaurant.breakfast was also excellent
did not like much about this hotel apart from the size of the room and the location. the room smelt musty and was uncomfortably warm I opened the window but the the gulls and the pidgeons keep me awake all night. The ensuit was old fashioned and need updating. The loo seat was delaminating and needed replacing. Breafast did not sound very inviting so did not even stay for it.
Very comfortable, excellent location. Lovely breakfast.
Location. It was close to restaurants and the channel tunnel was only 10 mins away
The cleanliness All the stairs
The staff were very nice. although attached to a bar during the world cup very little noise was heard in the rooms. The first room we were given had no drawer or wardrobe space and we were for a week. Changed rooms to a much bigger room but it did not appear to be cleaned and the bed cover had a large stain on it. We were there with a friend and he was put on the third floor and we were put on the second floor when we were the only guests and the ground and first floor rooms were empty. We are pensioners and had 42 stairs to climb to get to our room. Also no mirror near the hair dryer.
Friendliness of staff and parking. Full breakfast not served before 8:00 on Sunday. (We had the 08:15 boat to catch).
the rooms were very spacious and comfortable.staff very attentive excellant all round
Staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was great Only thing was that the decor & linen was a little dated
Friendly staff - good breakfast. Room clean and comfortable enough. Decor from the 1970s. The whole place looked a bit tired. Felt like it should be called a guest house or a B&B rather than a hotel
The hosts were friendly, helpful and informative. The rooms were clean and well decorated. The breakfast was small but satisfactory.
Family room was a good size and very light and airy. Good location. Proprietors were very friendly and obliging Car park is a little tricky to access but once in your car is safe
Staff were helpful and the room was clean and tidy and roomey
Great breakfast and good location
The owner Tassos and his wife Andrula were excellent hosts with a great sense of humor coupled with great service. I would stay at this hotel again if for nothing else to practice my Greek.
St Albans was warm, comfortable, and nice and clean. convenient for town centre and Dover ferry port, also oposite railway station, quiet too. Good job there was an alarm clock!!. Was up early but heating was on. Only on street parking available but it is in a terrace.
Was cross road from train station. Also easy to walk to castle (if no walking problems) and town centre a few mins away. Was unable to store luggage on the day of departure. Which was the main reason why picked the place.
I only stayed one night and caught an early morning ferry. I have stayed at the hotel before staff friendly and always clean. Handy for the ferry port and restaurants.
The room was clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. It was ok for me but would have been somewhat cramped for two people. The breakfast was excellent.
Our cruise ship arrived a day earlier than I had planned. A phone call to Theodora at St. Albans-she was kind enough to find lodging for 5 of us in another hotel because she was booked for that night. Theodora was a gracious host and we really enjoyed staying at her hotel.
Proximity to town centre. The shower room was tiny and the carpet was not hoovered. There were also uncomfortable protective sheets on the bed.
It was clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful The room was small and the stairs were very steep for older people and people carrying a suitcase. The towels and were worn and frayed.
Room are pretty small. Bed is small. And the face basin is even worse location: opposite to Priory train station, Dover
Price and convenience Very tiny room and shower room
Good breakfast, clean and comfotable, served the purpose well.
Friendly staff, adequate room for price. Clean and comfortable the TV was very poor, not all channels where working and also the movies were not working at all.
Location to ferry terminalsmade, an excellent overnight stop, allowing us to be refreshed for our onward journey. Staff were very efficient. Breakfast choice to suit all tastes. A1++ hardness of pillows. Minor dislike.
The Hotel is conveniently located and well priced. I suggest that there needs to be reserved parking for residents as the car park was full with cars of people attending a function. The Function Facility needs its own separate access rather than using a route via the Hotel Bar People attending the marquee function smaking and accessing the Hotel via the Bar!
The helpfulness of the staff, everyone was very polite & cheerful. Airconditioning in the rooms wouls be good, particularly as there were 2 functions in the evenings, however, the hotel has a policy of no noise after midnight & we were not disturbed
everything was easy and relaxing, excellent choice of menu, and very comfortable.
nice room, nice quiete atmosphere. Good parking.
The window of the room was next to a staff entrance / kitchens. It was quite noisy at times.
Clean rooms. Nice facility. Good internet access. The heater didn't work in one of our rooms.
This hotel was in an excellent position for a stay before catching a ferry. The size of the rooms was just about big enough. The bed was on the hard side. The resturant was excellent both for dinner and for breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Booking.com described the room as a "Extravaganza Double Room". I am not sure what this was all about. It looked like a typical smallish double room to me.
The meal in Bleriots Restaurant was not very pleasant. Overpriced and not of a high standard.
Apple raspberry crumble with cinnamon, nutmeg custard...mmmmm! No.
Lovely sea front location, so nice to hear the sea at night
Overpriced in view of the accomodation provided.
An additional socket outlet to enable the charging of my portable telephone would have been useful [I know that spare outlets exist in other rooms in the hotel - but not in 107]
Proximity to Channel ferry. Food service not very good, top window in room could not be closed to keep out traffic noise, conservatory dining room and entrance badly in need of redecorating. No manager available to speak to about dinner complaint.
The food was good and there was a seaview from the bedroom Breakfast was not included in the price and had to be purchased extra
The helpfulness of the majority of the staff, the location of the hotel and the gymnasium A lady waitress with attitude spilt my glass of wine over me ,brke the glass and I was left to clean it up.She did bring me another glass of wine. She was also arguementative with other members of staff!!
location needs a lot of refurbishing: separated hot and cold water in the lavatory, very old blankets, very old carpets on the floor (which is under certain slope by the way) etc.
your bar prices the terrible condition of the metal windows in room 303
proximity to dover castle and city centre, front desk were helpful and friendly very squeaky floors could be heard from other rooms/floors all night (it is an older hotel)
No car park. Very difficult to find anywhere to park close to Hotel. Will not use again because of this. It is a pity as hotel is good, service and food good.
As we only stayed for one night it would be difficult, but overall I found the staff friendly and efficient and had a hassle free stay. Just two things, we found the rooms to be too hot and it was a shame that we could only order drinks from the mini bar instead of the main bar after midnight.
very near to Leas Cliff Halls which was the purpose of our stay, nice staff and the best breakfast we have had in folkestone! very dated, however this seems to sum up the majority of hotels in Folkestone and a very uncomfortable bed. Asked what time the bar shut and was advised to go over to the Portland!
Everything about this hotel was excellent. We wanted a relaxing stay doing a bit of touring. Used the bus services -excellent. Just what we wanted.
Enjoyable weekend stay with minimum of fuss. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Location ideal. Will come again !
The hotel is quaint, off the international tourist track but still well located. The mattress was very soft; a bit too soft for any person with back issues.
Very good position, rooms very comfortable and the staff friendly.. The bar prices were very good for a hotel!
The View from our room was excellent. It was clean. It did not provide breakfast as part of the cost. The decor was dated and uncoordinated in the rooms. Although the rooms were clean there were signs of wear and tear. There was no night bar and everything appeared to be extra to the price. We did not feel as if we had got a good deal. Although the staff were pleasant
View of the sea! Lack of parking.
Very efficient staff,clean and comfortable
Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Good location - close to city centre / station / ferry ports. Excellent breakfast.
Breakfast choice was very poor
Four poster bed. Off road parking. Good veriety at breakfast, and accomodating a 7am start. Shower room a bit cramped
Nothing at all . it was cold , the room was small .the manager was not friendly at all . I definately would not stay there again
Solid hotel... good location close to train station and near to downtown. Temperature of the room was not well regulated. Breakfast room not sufficient for all guests to eat together.
We were made very welcome and help was given with luggage and advice on where to eat and getting taxis.
Excellent breakfast Not able to book in until 4pm
Staff were friendly. Good value for money
Very helpful staff - did recommend us an excellent restaurant (la romana) and gave us a two for one ticket voucher for the castle!
good location. room was ok. breakfast nice and hot. owner was quite rude when we arrived as our booking hadnt come thru, although when he went to check, it had arrived via fax. to be fair he did apologise, but it was a bit offputting at first.........Shower could do with a paint...... They must have run out of napkins and used a square of paper towel folded into 4 instead, which was a bit tacky.
Good location and good views of the country side. Room was nice and clean. Not a bad point as such but the shower was not very powerful so took time to wash.
Car park quiet room None
A good spot to get a quiet nights sleep before heading to the ferry, only 15 minutes away. Good restaurant and friendly staff. Bathroom was a bit shabby arround the edges.
Good food Restaurant and bar closed by 8pm as it was a Sunday
Good location for cross channel ferry, Corridor into bedroom tatty, bedroom tired looking and grubby with dirty window ledges, bathroom basin had cigarette burn, shower very poor, soap dispenser did not work, marks on wallpaper, dirty paintwork, poor lighting, stayed for two nights but sheets not changed
The food was excellent
After the apalling discomfort of a Travelodge, we loved the comfort, food ,and helpful staff.
