friendly, helpfull and the facilities were excelant
The hotel itself is very nice, good rooms Bit disappointed that the restaurant was shut otherwise a good stay, clients do need to be aware that it seems to be more or less unmanned from 9 pm ( which I consider early as I work out of hotels more than 3 days a week & most are fully functioning until the early hours, both here & in europe in my experience) offers Wi Fi apparently but we were not told about this which was irritating as I was working trying to send e-mails until well after 10 pm
Hubert House is a lovely property centrally located in Dover. We had a beautiful room with a nice large bathroom. It was nice and quiet at night. The owner/host of Hubert House was rather rude and impatient. We had traveled more than 30 hours without much sleep and did not appreciate being scolded for being 15 minutes late for a continental breakfast.
Comfortable, spacious accomadation, quiet but close enough to walk to the town centre facilites. Ease of booking in and leaving inthe morning.
Good single rooms which are difficult to come by. Hotel was in a good position and central Nothing
,breakfast good, front door locked untill 4pm inconvenient, room very cold heating not turned on till late afternoon, television does not work very well no sound on some channels, was told couldnt do anything,?could not recommend
The owner was very welcoming and settled us in before taking our breakfast order for the following morning (I opted for the excellent cooked English breakfast, not included in the price but well worth paying a little bit extra for), as was the porridge). The castle is just a short walk away and there is an excellent pub round the corner which does a good meal (but don't worry, it's quiet). The rooms we had were spacious and comfortable, with ensuite shower and a tea tray for a morning cuppa. You can also leave your bags there on check out day and collect them later. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. No complaints, it was excellent all round.
The room was excelent, very tastefully decorated the breakfast consisted of only coffee toast and marmalade, no OJ or choice of bread or jams
my wife and have stayed at this hotel before and we were pleased to say that it was as good as ever
Friendly, welcoming staff -
Very freindly, quiet area, got a good nights kip Nothing
Overpriced in view of the accomodation provided.
The helpfulness of the majority of the staff, the location of the hotel and the gymnasium A lady waitress with attitude spilt my glass of wine over me ,brke the glass and I was left to clean it up.She did bring me another glass of wine. She was also arguementative with other members of staff!!
your bar prices the terrible condition of the metal windows in room 303
An additional socket outlet to enable the charging of my portable telephone would have been useful [I know that spare outlets exist in other rooms in the hotel - but not in 107]
Proximity to Channel ferry. Food service not very good, top window in room could not be closed to keep out traffic noise, conservatory dining room and entrance badly in need of redecorating. No manager available to speak to about dinner complaint.
proximity to dover castle and city centre, front desk were helpful and friendly very squeaky floors could be heard from other rooms/floors all night (it is an older hotel)
location needs a lot of refurbishing: separated hot and cold water in the lavatory, very old blankets, very old carpets on the floor (which is under certain slope by the way) etc.
Lovely sea front location, so nice to hear the sea at night
The food was good and there was a seaview from the bedroom Breakfast was not included in the price and had to be purchased extra
Apple raspberry crumble with cinnamon, nutmeg custard...mmmmm! No.
Location and restaurant were outstanding. Staff, especially in the restaurant, were friendly and very helpful.
Comfort in the room
Staff on reception very welcoming None
comfortable bed pillows too soft
staff were friendly and helpful - room was comfortable and spacious the service in the restaurant was quite poor. They were busy but we had to wait over 40 minutes for a child's nacho starter and a further 30 minutes for a dry lukewarm burger. Not a good meal to say the least
Comfort and rooms and menu offered for lunch and dinners No
Proximity to the ferry terminal Bedroom was very cold and couldn't get the heater to work
Friendliness of reception Awful noise of other guests
the rooms were too colsd and didnt get a good nite sleep as the poeple above our room kept us awake
Very clean, staff were very helpful The family room was a double bed and 2 mattresses either side on the floor. I felt that there should have been proper beds at least.
The hotel is directly located at the ferries, so very good location. Altogether: Standard Budget Hotel. No specials! Be Careful: Little bit tricky shower with changing water temperatures. Don`t know how to get a constant temperature.
The hotel is really nice unfortunately we had to leave early and they wouldn't make us a breakfast at 5 in the morning for us so that was a little disappointing but very nice people and nice big room it was nice because we had 4 of us to a room and the floor offered another bathroom from all of us so we were able to all get out quickly in the morning!
Laz and Des the proprieters were very friendly. we had a super room and the breakfast was excellent. The guest house was also very well situated for the ferry. We will certainly use the Norman again whenever we are in Dover.
Hotel extremely clean an welcoming. Everything was spotless and nothing to much trouble for the owners they made you feel at home. Would not hesitate to use this guesthouse anytime Nothing bad to say
The hotel was very central, an easy walk into the centre to shops restaurants, post office etc. Near ferry port. Rooms were quiet and comfortable, staff friendly
Peace & quiet. Friendly welcoming attitude. Would recommend to others.
the owner was very friendly and helpful. an excellent breakfast for only £5 also catered for my vegetarian daughter. very easy to find from the ferry terminal. tea and coffee provided in the room which we rarely get when staying over in france. shower pressure poor so couldn't get a shower not too much of a problem as we were on our ay home. mattresses are ready for renewing getting a bit lumpy
The staff was very friendly,
Central location for train station. Was assisted with luggage up steep /narrow stair.Breakfast good value(£5) Single bedroom very small,as was en-suite.No floor space to open suitcase, had to use the bed. Access to rooms is very limiting, not before 4pm,and departure by 10am.May not suit some customers.
The owner was very kind and ready to help you for every necessity. Also the breakfast was delicious
Proximity to town centre. The shower room was tiny and the carpet was not hoovered. There were also uncomfortable protective sheets on the bed.
The room was clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. It was ok for me but would have been somewhat cramped for two people. The breakfast was excellent.
I only stayed one night and caught an early morning ferry. I have stayed at the hotel before staff friendly and always clean. Handy for the ferry port and restaurants.
It was clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful The room was small and the stairs were very steep for older people and people carrying a suitcase. The towels and were worn and frayed.
Good breakfast, clean and comfotable, served the purpose well.
Room are pretty small. Bed is small. And the face basin is even worse location: opposite to Priory train station, Dover
Price and convenience Very tiny room and shower room
St Albans was warm, comfortable, and nice and clean. convenient for town centre and Dover ferry port, also oposite railway station, quiet too. Good job there was an alarm clock!!. Was up early but heating was on. Only on street parking available but it is in a terrace.
Our cruise ship arrived a day earlier than I had planned. A phone call to Theodora at St. Albans-she was kind enough to find lodging for 5 of us in another hotel because she was booked for that night. Theodora was a gracious host and we really enjoyed staying at her hotel.
Was cross road from train station. Also easy to walk to castle (if no walking problems) and town centre a few mins away. Was unable to store luggage on the day of departure. Which was the main reason why picked the place.
Friendly staff Very dirty road outside hotel strewn with litter
The reception staff were excellent, knowledgable and friendly The hotel does not look like it has had any maintenance since the 1970'S. Bathroom fittings were rusting. tv had no remote control.
Breakfast room was clean and pleasant. On the main road to/from the docks. Constant hgv traffic through the night. People holding a conversation outside my room door at 2330. Hotel could do with a good clean. Not a very welcoming front.
Pleasant staff, easy access to the ferry terminal and good sized room. Very poor arrangement for parking facilities. the restaurant and bar need to be staffed adequately.on the night we stayed 7th july 10.there were 15 people in the bar but no staff, the receptionist came when we went to her desk.Germany v Spain were on the bar tv that night, the room emptied within 5 minutes after the game, no-one behind the bar.Poor organisation.
Staff were friendly First impressions of hotel - rubbish strewn all over the pavement outside, rusty tin chained to door for cigarette ends, whole exterior of building looks like a brutal stalinist box. Hotel felt and smelt grubby, dated, poor condition. Lights not working, everything shabby, restaurant staff with scuffed shoes, dirty creased shirt not tucked in, food appalling and very little choice, everything cheap and nasty. The room was adequate but depressing. The bahroom sink had cracks in it and when water was run into the basin water was pouring out onto the floor underneath. Water stains, mould on grouting and sealant, just felt grubby and unkempt. Not a good espreience. Would never stay again and very poor value for money
