Hotel Museumzicht Amsterdam is situated next to one of the city’s most important museums, the Rijksmuseum, with the famous Van Gogh Museum less than a 5-minute walk away. Several tram and bus stops can be found nearby and offer direct connections to Amsterdam Central Station, the World Trade Centre and Schiphol Airport. The hotel can be found on the upper floors of a 19th century mansion in Art Nouveau style. The breakfast room offers both a unique view of the Rijksmuseum and a small library with a view of Museumplein. In this library you can find the only TV in Hotel Museumzicht Amsterdam and a book exchange. A laptop is available for use. Typical steep stairs can take you to the rooms of Hotel Museumzicht. They are furnished and still feature the original tiles, as well as modern box-spring beds. Most of the rooms have a shared bathroom in the hallway on the same floor.
The location is amazing. I overpacked, and I still didn't find the stairs unmanageably steep. Breakfast was good - especially the coffee. Cute decor.
The sheets on my bed were dirty, and the room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, despite many signs saying smoking not allowed. While I should have asked to switch rooms, I opted to open a window. The smell was still so bad that it bothered me all three nights of my stay. Also, while bathroom was close to the room, which was good, it wasn't very clean at times.
Staff very helpful and courteous. Lent me a converter for outlets GREAT location! Great value for the money.
Hot in dining room, but it was quite hot for 3 days in a row. WiFi didn't reach my room on the top floor (possibly a blessing in disguise).
The view on the Rijksmuseum
An additional amount (Euro 7.50) was charged for credit card payment. Breakfast is not served before 8.30AM. General decoration is very old.
The location was good but don't stay here!!
Don't stay here!! This is one of the worst hotels I have experienced and is really terrible value for money. The staff were rude, the room was tiny, the furniture was broken, the wallpaper had been picked off (then partially covered up with Michael Jackson album covers), generally nothing had been fixed since the 1970s, and there was a bad smell throughout the hotel (which could have been from the hotel dog). And for this I payed 60 euros a night. What a mug! The hotel also has an extremely steep stair up to the second floor reception and rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors, which would be a problem for anyone who isn't fit and very nimble. This stair seems to be the only fire escape.
It is quite near the museums.
Very small rooms, and the shared toilet was so small one could barely stand inside it.
Location is excellent. Bus 197 links to/from the airport every 15 mins right outside, opposite the Rijksmuseum and in walking distance to everything in central Amsterdam. The hotel offered to hold our bags for the day until our flight, which was appreciated!
Don't bring a big bag - the stairs are steep! (We left ours in a locker at the airport and brought just what we needed in small backpacks).
Charming old building and wonderful location
Seeing the sites of Amsterdam. The breakfast was great
The steep staircase on entry
Has total character. Staff is nice especially the younger lady.... very helpful. The dining suggestions and other things to do around town were spot on by the owner and rest of staff. Shared bathroom situation was never an issue. Room was quite comfortable even without A/C in the summertime. It was quite clean too. If you don't mind the winding steps, you will not mind this hotel. This place really added to our Amsterdam experience.
Can't say anything truly negative. Couldn't get the printer to work but that was probably my fault.
The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The stairs in the hotel are quite intense and amazing. The location is great, especially if you want to go to the Van Gogh museum or the Rijks museum. It is literally across the street from the Rijks.
The art nouveau decor and lovely dining room overlooking the Rijksmuseum are special. Very nice breakfasts and hospitable staff. It's very good value for the money if you-re in Amsterdam.
the staff were very kind in this central location hotel, I had no problems what so ever and enjoyed my stay.
The stairs my be a problem for older or invalied guest as the're very steep and narrow up to the reception.
