comfortable, clean, quiet, relaxed atmosphere
This hotel is a ver especial place The decoration, the food, the view, ..... Very relax and the atmosfare is relax and luxery.. Highly recomended.
It would have been nice to have had a separate lower cost brasserie type restaurant.
Excellent on every dimension, but few english speakers for example in the restaurant. So you need some french or a willngness to experiment. Nothing.
good food , relaxing setting , excellent bathroom / bed , very helpful wine master , in the main very friendly / helpful staff food was generally a bit pricey , head waiter was rude / unfriendly
Beautiful room and surroundings. Enjoyed having breakfast by the side of the lake.
This hotel is amazing! The rooms are lovely and very large, the views spectacular. We were there for a wedding, which was one of the best we've ever been to!
The tranquility & peacefullness of the setting, overlooking the Lake with it's own active wildlife; ideal 'escape' from the bussle of Biarritz and St Jean de Lux. The comfort & quality of the Hotel , embracing the friendliness of the staff and quality of the Cuisine.Arriving after lunch , the Staff provided cold plates of ham & cheese, which , with local Vin Blanc was very welcome after a 3 hour drive! Perhaps explanation of means of communication between Pool & Reception and the routine at breakfast , including guests making their own coffee, could have been explained on arrival , to avoid misunderstandings. Otherwise , no complaints!
Fantastic setting, fabulous food
quiet and relaxing hotel with excellent staff. rooms and pool excellent, we didnt eat in the hotel as we felt that the food was extremely pricey. would not hesitate in going back all the same
relaxed by the swimming pool
A very warm welcome and friendly hotel. We enjoyed our stay, the staff were excellent, facilities very good however the rooms were quite basic but adequate. Close to the beach and on a golf course what more could you ask for? Would recommend to anyone visiting this area. Rooms basic but adequate.
The hotel decor was tired and needs modernising .
the people who ran the hotel were very helpful and kind. The indoor swimming pool was darkly-lit and on all the rainy days we had, it was not a cheerful place to be. The acoustics in the pool/jacuzzi area were deafening, so much so that I only used it once. We're not golfers, so for us the hotel is just too far away from any commercial center - in the middle of nowhere.
swimming pool indoors heating wasnt working in the room
Excellent service from receptionist No food or bar available
The Restaurant did not open on the Saturday night and we wanted to eat in
situation of the hotel was very good and the pool area was excellent One of our rooms had a recess in the wall covered by a curtain as a wardrobe - I did not think that this was appropriate as furniture. THe air conditing unit was very loud also
The hotel is well situated being centre of the golf area and approx 300 metres to the beach. The gorunds around the hotel are pleasant and relaxing with many trees, grass, birds etc. The meals are excellant, with a good choice/selection for breakfast. the hotel staff are very helpfull and pleasant. The main rooms are a good size but the toilet and bathrooms are both very small. One had to almost stand on the toilet seat to close the door. Dispite advertising that they had SKY channel the hotel did not. CNBC was the only English speaking channel available on the TV
Good situation, on Golf course and near beach & seafood restaurant at La Barre Looked tired: shower had to be hand held; lights flickered and 1 bulb hung out of socket.
La chambre etait tres confortable. The hotel was undergoing renovations and pots of paint were left in the lobby in the evening. Work started at approx 8.30 am and was very noisy.
If you are going to stay at the Atlanthal Hotel , ensure that you have hired a car, as it is situated well outside Biarritz and three kilometres from the promenade where most of the night activity takes place. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Despite directions from the site, Boulevard des Plages is not that easy to locate as the labryinth of roads is confusing.Breakfast was included in the price and the Tapas lunch was good value and very tasty. The dinner menu on one of the nights had an incredible variety of shell fish from lobster to shrimp. The faciilties in the leisure centre seemed professional but the number of people walking around the Leisure center in white towelling robes reminded one of a busy hospital. the There was nothing about the hotel that I did not like,
the ocean site looked very much like an industry .... very anonymous .... the thalasso infrastructure is very much like a pool infrastructure where wellness and calm and relaxation is absolutely difficult to perceive and experience.
The range of facilities and the choice of restaurants within the hotel (which was fortunate as one of the four was of poor quality compared to the rest) I found some of the staff on reception in both the hotel and the spa fairly unfriendly and unhelpful. Luckily all the other Hotel and Spa staff made up it - they were all great!
The staff were understanding when we checked out after our first night, even though the booking was for 7 nights. We did not feel the hotel was suitable for young children. The assigned room was too small. The photos show the beautiful beach but not the docks next to the hotel.
The swimming pool is great! However swimming rings are forbidden hence babies are to be hand carried in the pool. Bathroom needs to be renovated and rooms are not sound proof. The rates are far too high for the services provided. I requested for seaview but no one reverted back to me that this is not possible, instead I got a room facing the carpark!
Very nice accomodation in a quite area just a short walk from the beach. Rooms all very modern and clean and comfortable Could have done with a supermarket within walking distance
Outstanding contemporary design and appearance. Friendly assistance from staff. Whilst there was an lovely spa bath in the room it was difficult to operate as there were no instructions. A shower would have been desirable. These small details demonstrate what a high standards this hotel offers
We like everything There is no shoping around.
location to beach and biarritz ,airport and major road not user friendly in room and lack of confortable seating, bathroom not user friendly and lack of storage space, this place need a face lift it is showing its age...also we did not get the room that was reserved for us altough we had book the room 6 months in advance, we had paid 500 euro to upgrade to a two bedrooms, we were not very happy
A beautiful location, away from the "maddening crowd, with a lovely ambience. Loved the decor with a touch of the best of Indonesia ; great for those who love the sea and surf (also golf). Very welcoming and helpful consierge. None.
the man who greeted us on arrival was very friendly, spoke English extremely well and was very helpful. The room was spacios, clean and very inviting. On leaving we were given wonderful advice on places of interest along our journey. Will definately return. thank you
Good kitchen facilities withi the studio No obvious way to enter the parking upon arrival - we had to ask another guess to let us in. Could not check out until 8 am. Strange and cold atmosphere. No lift.
I was very impressed with the ambiance of the hotel, the atmosphere etc. No I liked everything about the hotel.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The accomodation and location were pleasant and peaceful .Comparatively very good value .
Brand new building - tres chic - avant garde to a fault. Expansive common areas exquisite. Helpful and pleasant reception staff. Excellent facilities in room we had; big refrigerator, micro wave, DVD, stereo, etc., but no English TV (seemingly infinite number of French and Spanish channels). Parking adequate, but unsecured. Close to beach. Good wifi, but make sure it works on check-in; ours only worked the day after we arrived, due to some lag in setup. Not inexpensive, but reasonable value for price, and worth risking deposit. We were in the hotel in late April, but temperature was 32C, and air conditioning was not operational. With only a duvet, sleeping was difficult. Beds somewhat soft. Not really set up for p't't dej, expensive and very basic - go to fast food place on beach. Limited reception hours, desk closed at 5 PM. As another reviewer has indicated, the hydrotherapy bathtubs can be a challenge to get into and out of.
It was very convenient for the airport without being noisy. The swimming pool was a good size in a pleasant garden, near to interesting countryside. Plug in basin did not work properly. A bit expensive.
If you want to go center of the Biarrtiz, you should rent a car at the airport. Very nice restautrant.
Next to airport, very confortable bed, bath tub, mini-bar with expensive but common beers Worn out carpet, bad smell, in the bathroom smelled like urea (actually there might be a bakteria in the shower curtain). Somehow I felt Iike the room was unfriendly and didn't want to know if it was well cleaned or no. Only came there to sleep becaues of an early flight but wouldn't go there ever again.
The room was large but a little tired. The bed large but very hard mattress, the staff were very friendly and efficient with a smile on their faces. Breakfast was lovely. The hard mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was very basic but at least it had a full size bath.
Very friendly staff in a very comfortable hotel. Excellent service - would highly recommend. Although only classified a three star staff, would rate this higher than many so called four star hotels. No
Good location for the airport and easy to find. Retaurant open until 2300h. Served its purpose to catch an early flight. Food only avergae for the price.
Convenience of nearness to airport and provision of shuttle service. Willingness of staff to help.
The food The attitude of the bar staff
Excellent staff on reception, attractive lobby. Excellent room, clean, well presented and nicely decorated and furnished. Parking close and easy and restaurants close by. Good hotel. Aircon struggled slightly but it was 39 degrees out when we arrived!
Excellent staff on reception, attractive lobby. Room clean, nicely decorated and furnished. Free parking close and restaurants close by.Good swimming pool on a nice place. For three persons the room was a bit small.
location rude waiter at dinner (didn't eat there again); no hair conditioner in bathroom
It was a lovely 10 minute walk along promenade into town centre, a walk we enjoyed a couple of times a day! Also spa in hotel was really nice. Beds were huge and really comfortable. Had a great weekend in Biarritz!!
Overall the service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms is second to none. I have stayed at this hotel before and will do again - I look forward to it. For some reason this time, the breakfast service was poor. The staff were 'distant' and seemed to be falling out amongst themselves. On one day, we didn't get our coffee for about 20 minutes and on another, the restaurant ran out of plates, so people were putting bread, cooked breakfast etc in a cereal bowl. There seemed to be no urgency, nor desire to provide a good service. This was a pity and contrary to every other service in the hotel.
The location was superb right on the sea front . Rooms quite spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. The indoor and outdoor pools were heated with plenty of sunbeds
beds were comfortable Reception staff were good at check-in. Concierge staff make a very good effort waited 15 minutes for valet to get my car, while other guests were more important. during this time, one valet was loading another guests car, another was told by the reception to take bags to a room, although I had pointed out that I had been waiting for my car for a long time. food was extortionately expensive. breakfast quickly became boring. room service most expensive, and most limited I have ever come across. we once tried to have lunch at the hotel, but despite asking the restaurant hostess to point out to the staff that we had been at our table for a long time, with no service, we eventually just left, having not had our order taken, and run out of time in our schedule.
The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. The pool area and spa were fantastic with wonderful views over the crashing waves. It is a wonderful beach location. We were led to believe from the web site that all rooms had sea views. This is totally wrong and you only get a sea view if you pay a premium price. We were disappoointed to be given a room at the side of the hotel immediately above the staff smoking area. This was our biggest complaint. Our other complaint was the cost of meals in the hotel. Breakfast was 28 euros each and we were not prepared to spend another 56 euros every day for breakfast, so we were reluctantly forced to go out for breakfast every day. Had breakfast been more realistically priced at say 15 to 20 euros per person then we would have had breakfast in the hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent, overlooking the beach and not too long a walk to restaurants. Pool area is excellent. Room very comfortable. Food and drinks in the hotel are very expensive.
Everything the service and room was excellant no
Location and ocean-side views over-priced food and drinks
The room was spacious, well equiped and very comfortable.
Staff were most helpful, polite & courteous We weren't advised before the stay that works were being undertaken at the hotel, the hotel was enclosed in scaffolding, our room therefore had no views.
Well placed and a very good hotel. The room we had was excellent Bathroom in the suite was not good. The bath was too narrow and shower door inadequate meaning that when using the shower it sprayed everywhere which made it a safety hazard. It would not stop me using the hotel again.
Everything, first class hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location. Old world charm and character about the hotel building. Everything was excellent.
Beautiful old building that was unfortunately still under renovation. Many parts of the hotel were showing signs of age (the pool for example), but they were actually the mid-century additions or fixtures. I'm curious to see the hotel after the renovations are finished.
Location over looking both Biarritz La Phare Golf course and Biarritz coast. Clean and quiet swimming pool. Great service. 20 up hill walk back from centre of Biarritz. Cost of drinks - 9 Euros for 50cl Biere.
The hotel was clean and was quietly situated but convenient for restaurants, shops and golf. Nothing
Go to beach
Good location with good parking. None
Great location. Right in the heart of Bayonne. Could walk to everywhere from the hotel.
Excellent location and friendly service.
Location was good and the price was reasonable. Loved the old fashioned lift. Comfortable and relaxing although it was disappointing that on my second night I was told that the hotel bar was closed. Although it was two in the morning the hotel information pack clearly said that it was always open.
Location and excellent breakfast buffet The room had a slanted floor which translated into a slanted bed - akward sleeping....parking facilities not far away but you needed to collect from and return to the front desk the gate's opening card each time you used it .
The location of the hotel was very good The room was quite small and dark considering it was supposed to be 'superior'.
Being so central
location Facilities too basic
The room and everything in it was sloping. Very uncomfortable and disorientating. The hotel was not full but the hotel allotted what must be the worse room. The bathroom was like a not very nice antique and the noise from outside the hotel horrendous-no soundproofing no double glazing.I feel sorry for anyone staying here longer than one night. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Depressing experience and worst value for money.
We found all was very good. The car parking in the allocated place was rather difficult but all in all it started off our holiday well.
On your yes and no questions you should also have " I don't know"
Helpful and friendly staff The hotel pool was not clean. To be fair, it was at the end of the season and I suspect they were preparing to close it up
The pool and breakfast
Honestly nothing. Dirty bathroom. Locked up kitchenette. Very unproffessional cleaning staff sitting outside my door smoking and talking from about 8 am on. All in all it was a very strange hotel and I thought about leaving after the first night. Please do not recommend it to other people!
Hotel staff were excellant good location for both Biarritz and Bayoone Would like the kitchen in the room to be open all the time even if they added a extra charge on to the room
Staff very helpful
the location was excellent for our needs. central for Biarritz and Bayonne with easy car parking for those with hire/private vehicles. the walk to the main bus route was reasonable (about 7 mins), giving everyone quick access to city centres. The kitchen had to be booked in advance, we had to wait 24 hours before gaining access to it.
Pool for the kids is very good The bunkbed matress were very bad, the kids had to sleep on the floor
This is pretty tired. There were no facilities available in the room, everything had been locked away. Felt more like a hostel than a hotel & expensive.
location, room our double buggies did not fit into the lift or the hotel room, also we were not allowed a late check out
location, excellent views and quality of apartment
It is ideally located with easy access to bakery and regular shops. It was great to have the small kitchen in the room especially when the kids needed to eat early in the evening. Also the restuarant allowed us to take food up to the room, best of both world's. I would go back to the hotel but I'd bring my own pillow and also to beware that the majority of people staying there are older and I was very aware of having the children running around.
We liked the hotel the area and the accomadition also the very spacious room and of course the well equipped kitchen
The view of the coastline from Le Grand Large was spectacular. The hotel is located within easy access of shops, restaurants, transportation. Having 2 non-working elevators for a period of time was unacceptable for a hotel with 9 floors.
They had booked a large party of young sports men who were out late at night and were very very noisey on their return and distrubed two of our nights sleep.
The whole deal. centrally located, on-site parking, friendly staff, clean and bright, fantastic sea and coastline views and the price. I recommend it! I liked it all.
great sea view with big balcony. fantastic facilities for cooking and keeping things cold. also great bathroom plus ideal for kids and I don't have any! pool closed but probably because out of seasion
Pool area , bar and restaurant are excellent. Our room was small and the bathroom was dated.
location and view from dining room place is showing its age, and its cost for rooms and meals are far too high. breakfast for 1 person was 50 euro, about $60 USD. the ocean view room i reserved from kayak was $550, and the only view of the water was from a side window; you had to right up next to the window to even see the water or beach. when i complained, they said that since you can see the water from the window, it qualifies as ocean view. we got misled from the check in girl as to when our room would be ready, and got fast double talk as to what happened. there also appears to be some wiggle room between what we learned about the room from kayak and what the hotel provided. kind of a bait and switch. we won't be back.
Grand old hotel in wonderful position, maintaining its historically high standards. Some confusion about the two restaurants, which seem to share the same dining room but offer different menus.
I liked my staying in the hotel. Good lacation.
Entrance to the Hotel was fabulous as were all the communal areas The room we were issued was in need of repair and re-decoration
Everything, the rooms are luxurious, the staff is professional and friendly, the building is beautiful. The best of European hospitality. And the food...glorious!!!
Hotel staff were excellent. Very friendly and very helpful. If you are not up early breakfast drinks i.e. coffee, tea can be cold and fruit salad finished.
Very friendly staff, great location, & very clean comfortable room. Breakfast better than most French hotels!
Got a modern recently refurbished room, with a very nice bathroom and separate toilet. Hotel is in excellent location, quiet, and very close to the beach and the city center. Staff was very helpful and nice. If you are planning on going to San Sebastian, the bus to the train station passes right outside the hotel.
I thought the hotel employees from the cleaning staff to the receptionists were very pleasant and reception staff tried to be especially helpful, in the light of the French strike and our cancelled flight by Ryan air - who I would never fly with again. The room was rather crampted for two people staying 11 nights (resulting from cancelled flight) I would only recommend 5 nights stay because of the room size factor. There should be larger rooms available for stays any longer than a week.
Very friendly and polite staff with good English language speaking skills.
It was very central to everywhere, airport, beach, bus stops, etc. The lighting in the room could be improved
Have just stayed for a week and the whole experience was fantastic. The staff must be the most friendly and helpful of anywhere in the world. They appear very happy in their work. Brilliant value for money and centarl. Highly recommended by our party of six. Everthing excellent.
The staff were extremely helpful .Nothing was too much trouble Needed a shower screen
the hotel was very central and we had a lovely room, most of the staff were very helpful and nice and they had a no smoking policy in the bedrooms which was fantastic as most of the hotels in france allow smoking everywhere
location excellent.staff really great .good breakfast and with car parking.its a no brainer -book it
Location Location Location Parking Area No Lighting?Staff could be frendlier.
I would rate this hotel as a 3 star hotel rather than 4 star. It was clean & nice but not what i'd expect from a 4 star hotel.
Nothing except close to beach This hotel is total rip off. Its way overpriced and old fashioned. Had to pay on arrival.Noisy and food was way too expensive. Never again!
size of room air condition not working for two nights. blockage in waste water outlet pipe - when advised for the next visitor they were already aware of it but still put us in the room!
the location. Very convenient to all main places in Biarritz. the room was nice. The shower was missing the piece to hold it to the wall on top. I was very annoyed when at 3pm I wanted to get some room service and the restaurant was closed! I guess is a problem in France not only of this hotel.
Location Parking was difficult to find, the room was very small for 175euro a night, front facing room very noisy, no working air conditioning.
The space, situation and cleanlines
Staff very good and the room perfect. We got upgrade because we were in honey moon.
The hotel was in a central position and there were parking facilities. The evening dinner was excellent. Breakfast items that were shown on the menu weren't actually available and would have been charged to us at full price had we not complained. The normal room rate is very overpriced but is good value at the special offer rate that we paid. There was insufficient drawer space in the room and the air conditioning unit was very noisy and would not switch off.
Very helpful staff
The hotel is very well placed just in front of the ocean and very close to the centre of Biarritz. You just have a street to cross to be on the main beach. The room is comfortable and I loved its design. Nice view on the ocean (room on the ocean side) and if you closed the windows, absolutely quiet, otherwise the noise of the ocean. No private parking place. Public parking (casino) very close but might be a pb in high season and week-ends.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location right on the beach and we had a partial sea view even though we ordered a courtyard view. The room was quite small but had everything we needed and was modern, clean and stylish.
A good hotel, excellent cleaning, friendly staff. Very noisy at night from people walking along the embankment.
We stay here for a week-end visiting Biarritz. The hotel is very well located. The rooms are small but very pretty and clean. The bathroom also small but new and clean. Perfect hotel for a week-end in Biarritz! As it is located in front of the beach, there is no easy pace for parking. But anything is perfect!
A great room with a great view in a very well located hotel. Staff was friendly and hard working.
the hotel was adequate for a short stay,I would not like to be there more than a few days as the facilities were quite basic. Rather plain.
The location at the Grand Plage with the ocean wiew. Small slow elevator, expensive in relation to standard, bathroom poor standard with bad smell.
The check in was faultless, even though we were later then anticpated, the location is excelent, ideal for shopping or going to the beach or even getting on a bus to go out of town.I Would definitely stay at the hotel again, also it was very good value for money.
Staff very friendly, excellent facilities Wooden floors not very practical for sound. Breakfast expensive
excellent location- very clean-friendly staff and very good breakfast
location excellent. found all staff were welcoming, friendly & efficient spa was closed and was one of reasons for choosing hotel. breakfast €23 too expensive
We were travelling from the Costa Blanca to Poitiers and it was an excellent place to stop. It was our first time in Biarritz and we had time to see the city and drink a few beers by the sea front. We had dinner in the hotel which was very good. Normallt we would eat out but we were not impressed with the restaurants in Biarritz. We selected some champagne coctails from the bar menu which arrived 20 mins later after the bar staff had received some training!
Comfort and friendly staff. breakfast needs to be improved for Irish residents in the hotel
Everything Limited selection and quantity of food
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull
Hotel very central to surfers beach, shops and restaurants. Room large, clean and very comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom with towelling robes. Rooftop terrace and heated pool amazing with fantastic views of Biarritz. Staff at reception were very helpful and polite. They recommended and booked some lovely restaurants for us.
The Hotel is clean and relaxing loved the roof top pool. We wanted to eat in the hotel but on 2 occasions the rooms were taken with private parties, not impressed.
Nothing special, just good for thus price.
Very nice view from terrasa, cafe and pool
The rooftop pool and terrace are spectacular at sunset.
