9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very nice
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet place. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. They offered transfers from/to the train station as well as tours to enjoy the local points of views and activities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were super comfortable!
6.8 Good
Pros: Great location! Walking distance to the Canyon. We were picked up and brought back to the train station! The food was very tasty!
Cons: The heating was turned of during night and the rooms cooled down enormously! The water didn’t run one night and they brought us buckets to flush the toilette! As we took the train, we heard before that it was always more than 1 hour late. So we asked if it was possible to get information from the train to not wait for so long at the station. They said it is not possible and they drove us there 30 mins before the schedule. After some time a car from a different hotel stopped to tell us that the train would be 4 hours late and that we could wait in their hotel! Since we were the only ones at the train station, other guest houses must have known about the schedule and told their guests....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the atmosphere of a family run hotel. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The home cooked breakfasts and suppers were excellent. Fresh coffee and tea were always available in the restaurant area. Room was simple but very clean and comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was ok, room was very clean; we liked the blankets (and also we really needed them)
Cons: Food was ok, but kind of the same every day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: At Posada Barrancas most of the accommodation is not walking distance from the Parque but our hosts have a transport facility that took us wherever we wanted to go. It is a fantastic place to stay and the staff makes you feel at home and go beyond call of duty to assist and cater to our every need. We loved staying here and will be sad to leave.
Cons: nothing - everything was perfect
7.0 Good
Pros: Kind and helpful staff. Big spacious bedroom.
Cons: Quite far out from the centre, meals were a bit more expensive compared to options down the road. Hot water took a long time to come through, I’d had an entirely cold shower and then it started halfway through my partners shower.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room and very spacious. Good hot shower and good heating. Owner was very helpful in explaining the best way to get to the adventure park which is hitchhiking in pickup trucks (very safe and the norm). The bus to chihuahua/creel stops directly outside.
Cons: Very far away from anything. 1 hour walk to copper canyon. With limited other transport option.
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed two nights at this family owned cabanas. We were welcomed warmly by the owners daughter who showed us a short hike to go on. The owner herself does not speak English, but tried to accommodate to our needs. They arranged a great day trip as well to the adventure park and really went out there way with transportation. Special thanks to the daughter Claudia. Breakfast was excellent. We were able to do laundry. The owner makes their own wine! Was great :)
Cons: The place is suitable as a transfer stay and a great gateway to the adventure park. There is however little else to do at or around the hotel. This is fine for reading a book and relax, however there are no seats outside or anything to make it comfortable or cosy. We had quite some time to chill and this was not possible, unless you pulled a hard wooden chair from the restaurant. The water power was really limited, so no proper shower. The room itself is very basic, could do with some accessories. The bed is made out of concrete, so not too comfortable.
Hotel Barrancas Del Cobre - Areponapuchic - Building
8.1 Excellent (315 reviews)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It is perfect. It doesn’t have views to Cooper Canyon but the all the food service is organized in another hotel at 3 min by walking( but they take you there in a car) so you have access to these incredible views whenever you want and the price is cheaper than the other hotel with the views. It was so clean and comfortable and the receptionist Montserrat was always happy to help us and solve our doubts. We recommend this place 100%.
7.0 Good
Pros: The ambience in the hotel and private balcony
Cons: Needed to move hotel for food. There are.not many options in the villAge and therefore food was expensive for what it was. This is the most expensive place we stayed and the only one with no internet. The sister hotel charged exhorbitantt rates whereas everywhere else we stayed has been free. Mean!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Because it is in such a beautiful location, the hotel was rustic but very comfortable, the staff were very helpful. The Landscaping was beautiful.
Cons: It would be helpful if there was Wi-Fi.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Connected to Hotel Mirador. You could eat there and enjoy the incredible views but at a much lower price.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: No meals in the property!!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location next to Mirador Hotel and Barrancas railway station is very good. Wonderful scenery and walking nearby. However hotel lacked personality.
5.5 Okay
Cons: The staff wanted to charge us double for drinks and as we complained all of a sudden 8 people stood around us trying to convince us we are wrong. Very uncomfortable. Furthermore we were told the breakfast is at 9 a.m. As we arrived the breakfast was over and they stated it only last until 9 a.m. Frustrating, so we asked if there is nothing else we can get the waiter said eggs are left but the price of 18 USD will remain. Very disappointed. We speak spanish so there could have not been a problem understanding them.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: They pick me up from the train station. The place is nice even that is not close to the train station. The receptionist all of them did a fantastic job on telling us about the delay on the train. And asking us to stay until the train arrived also provided us transportation to the train station at 12:30 AM.. These ladies really went above and beyond on providing a great customer experience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very natural and authentic.
Cons: In the cold months the insulation in rooms doesn't stand up so well, it can get a bit cold.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The open spaces, the colors, and the lobby area. The staff was very accommodating and allowed my family and I to enjoy being together even though we were a bit loud.
Cons: There was no restaurant and not many choices of “snacks” to choose from in the cafe/ lobby area.
Hotel Mirador - Areponapuchic - Building
8.0 Excellent (309 reviews)

Located in Urique, Hotel Mirador is within a 15-minute drive of Barranca del Cobre and Copper Canyon Adventure Park. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and a 24-hour front desk. Event facilities at this hotel consist of conference space and a meeting room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Fantastic view of the canyon
Cons: Mineral water is not given free. Wifi is not free. Food is expensive and there is no alternative eating places. Staff isnt friendly and welcoming.
6.8 Good
Pros: The views are amazing
Cons: The service was bad. During brunch, we had to constantly flag the waiter who seemed annoyed to helping us. No one offered to carry our luggage when we left even when people saw us carrying heavy suitcases. Very disappointed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel with amazing views over the canyons. You could just spend the evening enjoying your balcony or the hotel's terrace. Overall, a great experience!
Cons: Staff and menu are a let down. The staff (bar and reception) are not very friendly. The restaurant takes advantage of the fact that there is nowhere else to go for dinner, so they charge an expensive 3-course meal that does not even include local/mexican dishes. The hotel has a great local feel throughout (decoration, sotol cocktails...) so it feels that the food menu should follow that
6.8 Good
Pros: They would not give me a rate for extra kids and i felt ripped off the next day when i was charged 2900 pesos extra. Never stay there again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - amazing view from balcony and dining room plus terrace - free pickup from Chepe station (it's very close but steep and hard with suitcases) - every room has a balcony with 2 chairs and a little table - big room with the most comfortable bed and pillow I ever had - extra blankets and heater for the cold nights - everything very clean
Cons: - breakfast was okay but I expected more (we didn't book lunch and dinner) - no WIFI - just paying for the view, I think it's not worth the high price. - a bit far from everything, there's almost nothing around. You'll find only one restaurant in the little town down the hill and will have to pay for transportation to the Adventure Park or walk a while (we chose the second option).
6.3 Good
Pros: The Location is Great, the View amazing. The Nature around is really nice (if its not to Crowdy)
Cons: - they charge you 25 MXN for Water, so no drinking water in the Rooms, you need to pay for it! - no free internet you need to buy internet packages - drinks and food are really expensive compared to mexican standards Even it has a great view and nice surroundings it leaves a strange taste to me that they charge for everyhting extra that you can imagine, in the end we where happy to take all inclusive that was really expensive, the food was ok but not extraordinary, the drinjsk where really expensive and charging extra for internet or even a simple bootle of water (that should be included seeing the high prices of the rooms) leaves a less nice experience to me.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: located in the middle of Copper Cannyon, views are spectacular. Comfortable beds, all rooms with balcony with a VIEW.
Cons: No meal option. Tourist are captives of an expensive pre-fixe, no matter if you only like the soup you still has to pay the total. Since is in the middle of nowhere you don't have much option here. My vegetarian friends stayed only one night
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view is amazing!
Cons: Service is medium to bad. For a 2 star hotel it would be ok, but not for the price. Rooms: Beds where not made perfectly. Food: Dinner costs 500pesos for a 3 course dinner which has a value of about 250pesos. You dont have a choice. There is only the daily menu available. One day the main was filet mingon. But only well done. Also the waiter tried to seat us in the middle of the room even as there was space at the window... Rooms: In our room were wholes in the wall. The bathrooms are very old and really bad constructed. During our stay there were construction works going on 2 rooms next to ours. The reception told us that they are not supposed to make noice. I measured 84db with my mobile. In the end they changed our room to one in the other end of the hotel. I would expect that this idea is coming proactive from the hotel. Its more like a very expensive 2 star hotel and not worth the money!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The amazing view
Cons: Bedrooms were terribly noisy with fan noise all the time that you cannot switch of It was so noisy that we had to change room and the second room was even worst with the shower leaking in the bathroom The food was incredibly expensive for sphagetti bolognese Keep your money have a drink to enjoy the view and then leave this hotel is a rip off
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The view doesn't make up for the rest of the serious shortcomings of this horrid tourist trap of a "hotel".
Cons: This is simply the worst experience I’ve ever had in any Hotel, Hostel, BnB, Airbnb or any kind of lodging establishment I’ve stayed in. My girlfriend and I are not picky people, we have traveled the world and stayed in all kinds of establishments, but I can’t remember ever being treated worse than the two nights at Hotel Mirador Barrancas. I’m writing this not to bash them, but to help fellow travelers not fall into the same trap we had the displeasure of falling into and running what had been, until then, a wonderful vacation. This will be more like a blog entry than a standard hotel review. The first and most important issue was the inexistent customer service in the hotel. Once you arrive by the El Chepe train and descend to the platform, a man, without any uniform, asks you where you are staying. Once you reluctantly tell him, he tells you to come with him and leave all of your luggage there, “someone will bring it to the hotel” is all the info you get. We were then taken by van to the hotel. Once at the hotel, we get to the reception, where I’m immediately asked for my name, in a less than polite manner. The receptionist then tells me “that will be XXX amount of pesos, please give your credit card”. No “hello welcome to El Mirador”, how was your trip, nothing. Right after that it’s when I realized we were trapped. She took out a flyer (picture attached) and began telling us HOW MUCH every single thing cost. Not any real information about tours, hikes, bike rentals, activities. Just how much everything cost. I realized then that we were about to be treated like an ATM. Keep in mind, this is a 200 euro a night hotel. While it may not be the most expensive hotel in Mexico, it’s certainly not cheap. And to be told right off the bat that, for example, a 3 km (11 min) ride to the place were ALL AND ONLY ATTRACTIONS where, would cost 300 pesos round trip per person, is nothing short of ridiculous.

Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Guests may use a train station pick-up service for a surcharge, and limited parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was included in the room rate. Jacuzzi and a swimming pool was a great plus. We definitely loved a jacuzzi! Castle-like ambience was cool! Staffs were kind and the room was cozy.
Cons: Dinner was a bit expensive and it was the only option for us since there really isnt any restaurant around in nature. and there were so many BIG ANTS in our room. We wanted to ask the reception to change the room but we were too lazy to ask... so we had to kill many .... ants. They had quite huge size... so it wasnt a pleasure at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the balcony outside our room was the best. You have to climb lots of stairs but the sunrise is totally worth. The breakfast is good and convenient on the Mancion because is no restaurants near by.
Cons: The price is a bit high. but other then that, I can NOT really think of anything. I mean the best views are way up high and you need to be on good shape, but the staff can arrange transportation and help you with your luggage all the the way to your room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room we had booked was spacious, clean and comfortable but it was at the top of a steep hillside - 237 steps! The panoramic view from the balcony was breathtaking. The staff very very friendly and helpful especially Maria who assisted in the retrieval of our lost luggage from the airline. The food was really good and the portions plentiful.
Cons: The furniture in the room was in need of replacing. That the wifi came at a cost considering the cost of a room per night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, with views over the canyon available in some of the rooms off of semi-private balconies. Good check-in, and they allowed many in our group to check in early with no extra cost (as long as the rooms were available). The most amazing thing about this hotel is definitely the view from the top rooms. We spent hours there, watching the sunset with some wine. (be aware the rooms with the view do involve a hike up the mountain)
Cons: There was only ever one lunch or dinner option in the restaurant. The food was usually good, and service friendly and helpful, but a bit more choice would have been appreciated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were exceptional. There are English speaking staff to make communication easy. The food is excellent.
Cons: If you want a room with a view of the canyon you have to be in fairly good physical condition. The stairs to the top rooms are a workout.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff. Just a short walk from an incredible canyon view.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room we were in had a great canyon view and was spacious.
Cons: Bathroom was extremely small. You couldn't open the door unless you step to one side to make way. Food in the restaurant in only so so. Wifi is only available at the lobby and is sporadic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous views of the canyon
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The baronial hall was magic - the food was delicious.
Cons: Dogs needed water. Internet very slow and not free.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Complimentary breakfast is great. The added bonus of great music during dinner made it even better. The room is spacious and clean and comfy. Cecy was such a big help and we appreciated her suggestions.
Cons: Wifi unreliable and having to pay extra for it was a drag.
Cabañas margarito - Areponapuchic - Building
7.6 Good (137 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Urique, Cabañas margarito is a 2-minute drive from Barranca del Cobre and 7 minutes from Copper Canyon Adventure Park. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice and comfortable room. Beautifully decorated and lovely once the fire was put on. The only restaurant across the road was great but closes early . Trail walk from the hotel (left down the street-takes you right into the canyon) They offered us a free transfer to the train and to the eco park (including a little tour of the view points over the canyon) although they didn't tell us that's what was happening as they didn't really talk to us.....but it was a good bonus!
Cons: Not much communication with staff. They only speak Spanish which isn't a problem but they weren't really around to ask questions and they didn't offer us any local info which is essential as the town is so small (1 street) . Ask for a fire to be lit if it's cold as we spent our 1st night bundled up as we didn't know they would be able to do it for us and there was no one around to ask. The restaurants in the area close around 7.30pm so eat early! A little expensive for what you get but I think it's because of the location and the lack of other options
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: It was clean.
Cons: Me and my friend had a horrible stay. Some of the reasons: no knowledge of our booking, 6 drunk men upon arrival which made us feel unsafe, none of the facilities mentioned are actually there, our bathroom closed at night so we had to pie outside (it was -2 degrees!!!), there was only a fireplace but we had to search the area ourselves for wood and had to borrow a lighter from our neighbours, the owner was nowhere to be found to help us. For the price we paid this was really terrible.
7.0 Good
Cons: The owner offered a tour (parc and view points) to visit the area. He dropped you at the first point of interest and ask you to call him whenever you are done but he didnt answer the phone to pick up and continue the tour... at the end I had to go with another guide...
6.8 Good
Pros: When it was very cold owner lit the stove for us which was wonderful.
Cons: Staff didn’t speak much English but used a translation ap. confusion over tours offered.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels.
Cons: The place was very cold. There were wood burning stoves but 1 night when I requested a lite fire I was answered with un momento and then had to ask 1/2 hr. later & again 15 minutes finally I just jumped into bed under the wool blankets. Someone came when I was in bed and I said "too late". The other night that a wood fire was lite it was done with gasoline leaving a horrible smell...hardly the cozy warm atmosphere of a wood burning fire I'm accustomed to. There were a few other minor issues but that was the worst.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was super good facility. I enjoyed the place (very close to great canyon and they give you tour) as well as the room and the overall place. Great place to relax and super close if you come by train. I would love to come back one day.
Cons: Nothing, I just loved it
4.5 Okay
Pros: Alternative room was offered in the end, which was further away from the main road and was not as nice as the one I booked, but okay.
Cons: Owner not present at midday, still not present at 6pm. No response to call or text. We found an open door to a room, but no key and no water. At 8pm we found out there had been no water since the day before already and we we taken to an alternative location, that needed cleaning first, for which we had to wait another hour. All in all very disappointing. No compensation offered at all, never heard from the owner
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets to keep warm. The stove could have a fire built in it, if you can find someone who works there to build and light one for you. We would not have been able to sleep without it, as it was so cold (even in April) so I'm glad that was an option! The rooms are situated on a families land/ranch, so there were some horses, donkey, and farm dogs running around the property. It was quaint and cozy enough, especially considering the price. I loved that it was only about 1 km or less from the start of the trail that leads up to the Hotel Mirador, and from that hotel you have many trail heads to different hikes, one of which is along the canyon rim and is totally beautiful!! We spent all of our time in Divisadero hiking, so we weren't really in the room much at all, which is probably the best way to organize this part of your trip. It wasn't a bad place to stay, just an odd place. Didn't feel super welcoming, but it was clean enough and comfortable and could be a good location for jumping off on all your adventures.
Cons: The room was literally being finished (built!) the day we arrived. We stayed in an addition to the main rooms you see pictured. There was no light fixture yet in the foyer room, and there was no shower curtain in the bathroom. We didn't have hot water until someone came to our room to "check if we had hot water" at 9 pm, and then we finally did. The next morning, we did not have hot water, but the 2nd night we did. It seems they were just still finishing the projects and it wasn't really ready for guests. There was super noisy construction directly in the rooms above us that began at an unreasonable hour and went all day long. This trip was April of 2019, so, if you give them a few more weeks I'm sure the noise and the unfinished parts will be much nicer. The part that was hard for us was the lack of any kind of welcome or orientation. Someone picked us up from the train station with a sign that had my name, which was super nice! I had emailed the hotel to ask about getting there, and the response time was slow (but signal out there is spotty) so I never had a chance to reply before getting on the train to travel. Once we were picked up we were whisked to the hotel about 8 km away and sort of dumped off unceremoniously with a key to a room. They were anxious to move on as they were taking other hotel members on a tour that we were offered, but they were literally living the moment we arrived. We didn't see those two people who picked us up again the rest of the trip. I'm still not sure who they were. We asked about a restaurant and were pointed to the one across the street, and no other information about town was volunteered. Luckily the woman, Angela(?) who cleans the property was available to ask, as we needed laundry service. She was able to help us, personally, and we just paid her directly.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The unit we were given was the back with poor curb appeal, there was a whole in the glass door, there was air also coming through the door( no seal) toilette was broken, the owner fused with it sir quite a while then, we stated we wanted to leave & he then put us up at another location away from the property which was new better accommodations as it snowed overnight & when we got up to take a shower there was No water, therefore we only stayed one night. I asked to not be charged for the second night but he would not therefore I asked for a tour up to the Canion.
Cons: Nothing, the property is not worth the location & it is OVerprised
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very cozy with the wood stove. Picked me up and dropped me off in Divisadero. Also provided a ride to the adventure park. Great restaurant next to the property.
Cons: Nothing
Hotel Divisadero Barrancas - Areponapuchic - Bedroom
7.5 Good (210 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Divisadero Barrancas in Urique, you'll be steps from Barranca del Cobre and a 4-minute drive from Copper Canyon Adventure Park. Featured amenities include a business center, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The view was the real positive, nice public areas with blazing fires...
Cons: Terrible Food - starting with the menu only in Spanish (really is it so hard to run it through Google Translate). They don't cope for Vegetarians, just a set meal. We were served a Green Salad (a pile of lettuce really), no dressing. Just blah! In comparison an Agriturismo in Italy couldn't stop feeding us for the same price we pad for a set meal MXN620.
7.0 Good
Pros: So close to the adventure park although a lot of the stuff was closed for maintenance when we stayed due to low season, there were still some really nice walks and the view from the room was incredible. Showers were good and food was good too. The bar area has huge windows to see the view and have feeders on the windows so you can watch humming birds and woodpeckers which was pretty amazing.
Cons: We stayed on the lower ground out the back of the hotel and found it very noisy. You could hear every step of the people above and it sounded like a herd of elephants. There were also a lot of dogs around barking at night and first thing in the morning. One dog even tried to get into our room. The beds were also very hard so we didn't sleep very well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is just great! Right at the edge of the canyon. Couldn't be better. Very nice room with warm decoration and view of the canyon. I didn't eat at the hotel, so don't have any idea about the food. After walking to the Adventure Park and spending some time there on the way back I ate from local food stalls which was delicous.
6.8 Good
Pros: The balcony view next to the canyon was incredible. Especially at dawn. The whole place was nice on its own. The areas outside the hotel are nice. You can take a zip line through the canyon or ride a cable car across the vast canyon.
Cons: The restaurant at the hotel was horrible. It was overpriced and did not have much variety. Also there wasn't any wi-fi at the restaurant so do not plan on doing any streaming while you are there. DO NOT GET THE BOTTOM BEDS BECAUSE THE ROOF IS SQUEAKY AND WILL WAKE YOU UP AT 5AM.
6.3 Good
Pros: The rooms are a good size. The view from the restaurant and bar is amazing. Very close to the train which was handy!
Cons: I was made to move room on the second evening because the heating had apparently broken. The wifi is only available in the bar and restaurant area. The food was very poor - the bread especially tasted stale, there was a set menu with no vegetarian option, very specific serving times. The lady on reception was not very pleasant.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing! The rooms are a good size and bar and lounge area are nice to relax in. We traveled in January so it is chilly at night and in the mornings. The restaurant accommodated our vegetarian/vegan diets very well. You are 2 minute walk to the train station, and the hiking trails near the hotel are fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is in an extraordinary location and it feels every bit like a ski lodge, including the fixed three course dinner menu (which was delicious and refreshingly non-Mexican). The décor is gorgeous, lovely fabrics on the lounges and interesting quirky items everywhere. The full length windows in the lounge overlooking the canyon leave you speechless.
Cons: There were several resident dogs that hung around outside the rooms and were a bit intimidating to a non-dog person. There were not aggressive though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is in an amazing location. Yes, it is expensive compared to similar hotels in Mexico but the location is well worth it. Coming from Australia where staying remote means paying exorbitant amounts for far less than what is on offer here, I found this hotel to be very reasonable. The room was very clean and comfortable, the hot water was plentiful. The food in the restaurant was tasty but for lunch we went and ate at the market which offered a much cheaper alternative to the hotel restaurant.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Not many places in the world offer an outlook as stunning as this. Worth staying for a night, maybe two if you want to spend a whole day at the adventure park. Easy for the Chepe too.
Cons: There is an element of remembering this hotel is in a remote part of the world where facilities are limited, but unfortunately I do agree with the majority of negative comments on this site. Bring earplugs.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The views were beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location was perfect as a starting point for the sights and activities of Copper Canyon.
Cons: The food was average buffet and there was no music in the bar. The beds were small and uncomfortable.
