The location and layout are fantastic, and the staff were helpful. Room compact but elegant. No
beautiful hotel, beautiful room, nice & helpful staff, everything new & refurbished quite expensive, breakfast not included - breakfast expensive (14euros per person) - but I guess thats France! apart from that everything perfect!!! Thank you!
The view from the room Too old
Location, close to Collioure No
Beautifully located, good breakfast, nice garden No
The view, breakfasts and the pool. The staff were also very helpful. We asked for a double but got two singles put together which is not the best. I liked the view in the room so I did not want to risk another room with a lesser view.
The suite we were upgraded to was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. Good location, nice pool and jacuzzi. Two thumbs up. We arrived late afternoon and needed some basic supplies - wine, bottled water, light snacks, cheese, bread or crackers, etc. The desk clerk told us that because it was late Sunday afternoon there was nowhere to buy anything. We decided to go for a ride into town and found enough places open to buy what we needed - including the main supermarket. She really put zero thought into how to help us solve our problem. On the other hand, we found most service employees in France to lack much interest in providing good customer service or taking any initiative. Just cultural I guess.
We enjoyed the stay , very nice breakfast. The images of the facilities on the web-site were slightly exaggerated- it was not as deluxe as it appeared. There was a shortage of toilet roll.
the location is beautiful no
Nice pool and spa. The view was beautiful. I didn't like the fact that the hotel immediately charges your card for the entire reservation upon making the reservation and that all charges are placed on the account of the person who made the reservation regardless of the number of people in your group.
Close to nice beaches The fact that it overlooks a busy road and a railway line - both of which were not apparent in either the price or on the website.
hotel was newly refurbished and clean, had a bit of a clinical feel. Nice view of the med despite the road and rail no shower screen in bathroom or hook for shower, near to busy road and just over the road was a railway. Pillows were uncomfortable(that maybe just personal preference).
Location is good. It's clean. The owners have done a lot of work on a difficult building. It's too much like a motel. Lacks any atmosphere, warmth or soul for the price. The cost of staying here is far too high for what it offers.
Breakfast, pool, air conditioning road/rail noise,
This hotel was superb. The views were beautiful and the restaurant was excellent for breakfast and evening meal. Very good value for this time of the year. Only one item, the shower in the bathroom was very poor. It needs to be fitted on to the wall instead of hanging loose.
The stay was more than pleasant, the view was great, staff was very helpful, the "look" of the hotel was wonderful, the food was fine. It was a very good choice in a lovely city.
Cleanliness & Friendliness of staff Lack of restaurant facilities for dinner. Only snacks avaliable.
Clean and comfortable with very efficient helpful and pleasant staff. Easy to find and convenient location. Good value for money
The view over the ocean from our room was fantastic. The staff were great and when we had a problem with the airconditioning in our room we were offerred another room straight away.
Hotel room was very modern, clean and the view was gorgeous! Train line is not a problem, double glazing is excellent.
The heated outdoor pool - pleasant location. air conditioning in room excellent. Very efficient, friendly staff. Although it was a Relais du Silence there were young children and babies. There was no restaurant. The room was small.
Fabulous pool and gardens ideal for our 9 and 13 year old. Lovely setting and good position within walking distance of old town. Room and bathroom were spotless and tastefully decorated. Staff very friendly and efficient. Lovely breakfast on terrace in morning. Family room had two double beds so children had to share which was fine for younger children but might not be suitable for older children. Needs to state this on booking page.
service room too small, uneasy access to hotel
Le Cottage is set in a lovely garden with a view of the mountains. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a view of the swimming pool and garden.. The breakfast was excellent. Rather far from the beach, but you know that by looking at the map before you book.
The hotel was presented excellently, the pool and gardens impeccable as other reviewers have said.View from the balcony stood out as a good memory. Being just over 6ft, the toilet was a real problem, it is incredibly small and could be easily incorporated into the shower room which would give sufficient space for all sizes. Breakfast location was superb but the content was limited for the price,
Quiet, comfortable place, close to the village but away from the busy beach area. Easy access to Argeles, Le Racou and Collioure by car.
The distance from the beach.
Friendly staff, english speaking, clean room, free parking, free spa no food after 8 or 9PM
Friendliness of staff. Beautifull site, relaxing atmosphere, excellent breakfast Some decoration on walls (pictures?)
An extremely attractive hotel in beautiful surroundings; spacious bedroom, attractively decorated and furnished; pretty gardens and pool; plenty of parking space in hotel grounds.Plenty of storage space in bedroom. Disappointingly poor bathroom, no bidet even though the plumbing for one was installed, very stiff door to the toilet, dull, smoke coloured mirror which was difficult to see in; very poor choice of television channels although we are French speakers, one was impossible to see and two of them had no sound. The drinks in the minibar were the most expensive we have ever experienced- 4? for a small bottle of water!
lovely building great room staff excellant didnt get to try the food in their restaurant which i here is good
Very nice hotel, lovely pool and terrace, very quiet situation.
Presentation and attitude of staff was excellent. Peaceful Setting. Food excellent None
The hotel is lovely, with nice fittings. It is spacious and has character. Indoor and outdoor is nicely laid out, making good use of the natural environment. We found the restaurant expensive however - and the breakfast, though very good, was pricey. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the Auberge highly as a place from which to explore the beautiful surroundings.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Food is quite expensive but bbq night was lovely and worth it.
Hotel staff were courteous and very helpful, the accommodation was excellent, the level of service was outstanding and the food was delicious Meals although delicious , were expensive and drinks were extremely expensive
It is a friendly, comfortable, hotel in a quiet location on the outskirts of Argeles sur Mer. It has a lovely terrace and pool with open views towards the mountains. Staff are cheerful, helpful and efficient and the food is superb.
Restaurant is outstanding. The young owner couple are in the process of refurbishing the hotel and the rooms reflect this process. However, the price is fair and the quality of service outstanding.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike. The owners have created a very special place. The furnishings are modern and clean. The food and service impeccable.
The location of the hotel
The food was superb . The general standard of the hotel and staff was excellent. Look forward to going again.
The reception staff were excellent, the senior waiter was a little brash and loud, all other staff and matters were fine, although the food was overpriced relative to the surrounding restaurants. Thank you for a pleasant stay The only real complaint I would have is about the surrounding grass areas along the seafront where dogs' faeces litters the ground and I would advise the hotel to make represetations to the local authorities to ensure that the dog owners pick up after their dogs; I heard several others complain about this.
Close to the beach and far from commercial and noisy centre of Argeles. Not far from Cerebre and Collioure. Breakfest to expensive compared to what you get.
Relaxing.Good food.Good beachside position with adequate beach facilities.Staff extremely pleasant.Elderly clientele at this time so early to bed. A little too far from centre.
Great restaurant, great pool facilities, great location by the beach. Hotel a little old.
The Maitre D the reception staff and the fillet steak. The entrecot.
Lake side location
The Hotel was in an excellent position and the staff where very helpfull. Some of the decor was a litle tired but still very acceptable. I didnt have any problems at all.
Location - on the beach, and a very short stroll to restaurants/shops etc. Clean rooms and friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast.
Good, clean hotel. Double bed was more like a king size and very comfortable. All public areas were clean, lovely swimming pool. Very good location. Would recommend this hotel to adults only rather than families. This didn't bother us as our children have now flown the nest. There is a good selection of food for breakfast but not in vast amounts but staff will replenish anything if you ask. For the price of the breakfast this doesn't seem good value for money unless you get breaksfast included in the price of your stay as an offer, like we did. This would not deter us from staying here again.
Very flexible - we needed to leave before the normal breakfast time and they made the entire breakfast buffet - a very extensive European type buffet -available an hour before normal opening time. Pool closed at 7 pm, which seemed excessively early in August in a busy resort where people go out to eat late! Re your later question about guest reviews - I can't remember them!
Location of hotel is very good. Disappointed that hotel didn't have bar facilities
close to beach
Friendly, helpfull staff. Easy to walk to resteraunts etc. but hotel outside noise area at night. Excellent parking.
The location, next to beach and and away from the frantic buzz of the centre of Argeles. The views of the sea and hills. The convenience of having a secure car park. The pool was nice and uncrowded. The breakfasts provided a full range of food from cooked to cold meats fruit, bread toast, cake, cheese. Proximity of a nice restaurant. The staff all very hard working and helpful. The coffee machine was tempramental. No bar for the evening.
We couldn't fault the reception or the cleaning staff. The reception staff were particularly patient and helpful. The air conditioning was effective and the double glazed window was efficient and cut out the sometimes considerable noise in the street below. The swimming pool was of a good size, well maintained and the lounging area was very pleasant. On first sight the room appeared rather old-fashioned...avocado bathroom suite and dark bed covers. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and no duvets on the beds.
Good breakfast, location excellent for the beach. Would be better if the hotel provided towels for the swimming pool.
I was very pleased with the hotel especially its location, close to beach. Yes there were limited facilities but this was reflected in the price. It was very clean and friendly and the ceiling fans were welcome in the heat. I will definitely use the hotel again. Breakfast was limited for the price.
The staff were very helpfull and the meals were excellent No Tea or Coffee making facilities in the room?
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Near the beach. Breakfast is very minimal for the price.
Friendly staff who were happy to deal with stuff like accepting parcels, finding safe accommodation for bicycles and an extra guest, and phoning a taxi.Clean comfortable rooms, Good breakfasts. Definitely not.
proximity to the beach For what it offered and the price charged, this hotel was satisfactory. However, the distance from the railway station was NOT clear when booking this hotel as there are basically 2 villages with almost identical names. In addition I did not like having to sleep in a room at street level.
Cheap 'n cheerful as a one night stop - over, very clean, Lack of parking, very limited breakfast compared to other places stayed, noisy-ish ceiling fan for air-con.
The staff was very friendly & helpful. Despite noisy location (night car traffic to/from the promenade) I slept very well
central for beachlife but without being to noisy at night
The general standard and especially the location to the beach etc.
Really friendly staff (even though we can't speak French!) and the room was great for the money, with it's own roof terrace. Very small shower and no air conditioning (wouldn't have been a problem, but the street is quite noisy and we had to sleep with the windows open).
service, very friendly and helpful, good breakfast, air con room limited parking but hotel made best of it
I had a beautiful time, the staff were excellent, very helpful and the hotel location was fantastic.
Location - a few steps from the town centre and port/beaches. Free car park (very small but at least available and free!) Assumed a double room would mean a double bed but we were given 2 singles. Need to state in description whether 2 singles or one double.
Hotel very central, room quite good size, small parking which is a plus in Collioure Bathroom was a disaster, very, very small, no shower screen so that you showered the bathroom instead of yourself when you attempted to shower. Room very sparsely furnished, only place to put case was on floor ! Would only recommend for 1 night stay
The hotel was convenient for the town and beach The car parking was restricted to about 6 or 7 cars
ideal location, middle of town but next to harbour, easy access to shops restaurants etc. Car parking available on pot luck basis. Helpful friendly reception.
OK rooms, good beds, nice people at the front desk. Quiet hotel and rooms. OK, but narrow parking in the hotel yard. Right in the middle of Collioure. Stayed here before and would be happy to book again.
Was central to Collioure and great location for restaurants and the tiny shingled beach. Was a lot more basic than appeared in photos on website. Had we been staying more than 3 nights we would have moved. Also, parking was a bit of a nightmare.
The location was brilliant staff helpful rooms clean and comfortable On booking was told there was car parking available but on arrival there were only a couple of spaces and they were in use
The very pleasant welcome and desire to be as helpful as possible
Wonderful atmosphere. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Friendly, helpful staff No slip mat in the bath which was also a shower.
The hotel staff were excellent. They gave very helpful advice on eating out. We were also given the choice of two rooms.
We were made very welcome at the start of our stay and given lots of information.A clean colourful room with a great veiw in a typical french style villa.
Nice, quiet, relaxing location. Helpful staff.
Beautiful rooms & lovely atmosphere. pool & beach very pretty. Excellent staff & service. Would like an alternative eating arrangement. One does not want to eat Michelin every evening - also restaurant very expensive for eating every evening!
Calibre of hotel building, cleanliness, quality of continental breakfast. Charming setting on island in lagoon, with boats galore nearby. Restaurant, bar and room service all closed for the two days we were there. No notification of this closure. Unhelpfulness of staff in helping us find alternative eating place - sent us to a restaurant that was also closed! The road to reach the hotel was unmade and in poor condition.
Brilliant atmosphere, lovely rooms, wonderful heated pool and helpful charming staff. The Jean-Paul Hartmann experienece was fantastic. Certainly the best part of our French holiday. . Because the hotel is quite isolated I would have like the addition of a Spa, treatment unit, where massage was available. Also a small boutique shop with a few essential items like nail varnish, international newspapers maybe.
location and stuff
The people at the hotel were the best part of this. Very receptive (at reception!) and nice. This hotel is really in need of a makeover of various kinds. The decor, the services "not" provided (no gym, spotty wifi, ancient elevator). The shower was awful (the bathtub was great) and the air conditioning had been turned off for the "year," even though it was quite sultry. We slept with the door open and were bitten by bugs.
The restaurant was excellent.
The hotel was quiet and in a good location (as long as you have a car). The restaurant and breakfast were very good. The hotel is looking a bit "tired" these days and is in need of refurbishment. Our shower leaked badly, but obviously the hotel knows this and left lots of hand towels for mopping up. A pet peeve of mine: paying money to stay in a hotel, then having to clean up after each shower. Staff friendly and helpful. Cleaning floors! See above.
top restaurant and perfect service
The rooms were well appointed with safe, mini bar, aircon, good bed and nice bathroom. Our suite was a good size with a nice view. The location was good with secure parking. There is a Michelin star resaurant as part of the hotel which we really wanted to try but we couldn't find any prices advertised which made us think it was probably very expensive and we didn't eat here as a result. I'm no penny pincher but 54 euros for a glass of Cognac at the bar made us think the restaurant was probably a little steep too.
Well situated, nice surroundings. Checking out was a bit of hassle, dont think she believed we had already paid for the room,it took her about 10 mins before we were allowed to go to our car.
The rooms were spotlessly clean, and airconditioned although we could not change the settings to our liking. The staff responded to requests efficiently. There were a number of minor irritations which marred our enjoyment. We found it very strange there were no toilet roll holders in the bathrooms! (toilet rolls were on the floor!) One of the rooms we used, there was no shower curtain/divide, with the result that the entire bathroom got soaked, and we had to ask for a plug for the washbasin! We also had to ask for the terrace to be swept as it was full of dead leaves. The restaurant was hopeless. Saturday night, high season and they could offer only a set meal at €25 with 2 choices of main course- "catch of the day" or kangeroo steak!
style of hotel
I is a very well run and clean hotel, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We did have problems finding the hotel because we arrived at night and the hotel Neon Light was not on. We also had a big problem with mosquitoes in our room and we had to purchase products to get rid of them.
Animation staff and restaurant because hotel is beside Odalys.
nice staff clean room and good airconditioning poor and limited breakfast. no bar facilities
Reception staff very helpful and great attitude. Bar was closed some days and when open closed early. I got the impression from the website that the hotel was busy all year not just a tourist hotel. Wrong impression!
Staff were very friendly and room and breakfast all ok.Could have done withn an English cahnnel on the TV,but a very good base for the World Cup. Needed a little TLC just a little jaded around the edges. But not enough to stop us going back.
Used as a base only Too far out of town. Bar opened too late. Not a lot to do in hotel
There was a lot to do on the campus - swimming pool, cafes, tennis, etc. The area in Argeles sur Mer is very beautiful and there's plenty to see and do. It was a bit hard to find. It is a drive to the beach.
friendly helpful staff, good breakfasts, fair value. no shade by the pool,
Very god value for money - great outdoor pool, great entertainment/sports facilities upstairs on lovely veranda. Loved the table-tennis tho no-one would play with me. Very friendly staff, in reception and breakfast - fantastic to get a free foot massage by the pool - lovely room with television, library and board games facilities - great idea to have internet available free to clients - great breakfast - must go back!! No
Small friendly hotel with free pick up from airport. Useful trainbus picked up outside hotel and took us to the beach or village. Village 10 mins walk and beach 45 mins walk.
Fixtures in bathroom not perfect.
Chef was friendly, hotelpersonel if they think you don't speak french are not so friendly. hotel is old and not wel in shape. Dirt in every place of the room. The balconey is under shit of birds. You can't sit on this terrace. We booked 4 days but left after 1 because the dirt on the handtowel was to much. We lost our money for the hole 4 days and didn't get it back. The breakfast is served on paper dishes so I had a feeling I was staying on a camping. Everything was present, but also dirty and with flies. You need also to know how long it takes to get an egg boiled. So some cooking experience is required. Not really a hotel recomended by us.
Pleasant hotel with some good facilities such as the pool. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Fun train from hotel to town centre was an enjoyable experience. The hotel was rather remote not within easy walking distance of the town centre or the beach.
We were warmly welcomed, all staff were polite, the room was clean and comfortable. Good access to the town.
After I had booked I was sent an invoice charging me for breakfast 8 euros each. I telephoned them and said I did not want breakfast and was told that the manager said it was obligatory at thet busy time of year. There was nothing to indicate this when I booked. On arrival at the hotel I made it clear that we did not want breakfast and the lady on the desk eventually backed down and we did not have the breakfast and were not charged for it. Hotel fine except for the breakfast issue.
Very helpful staff (English speaking). Good breakfast and room clean. Free courtesy bus into town stops right outside hotel.
