Pros:
The staff were very nice! Though there are a few who could spend less time on social media and personal calls, they were all very cordial. We extended another night, passed 2 days after i made another reservation on Bookings, then i was told there were no rooms like ours, available for our extended night. I was told I would need to move to another room the morning of. As it turned out, the owner came in and worked it out that we could stay in our room and not have to move. Maybe i should have also suggested that the hotel betters the Bookings.com system they use, for less confusion. However, it was all resolved and no real stress to us. The hot water always worked, the breakfast was adequate, though skimpy with the milk for our cereal. The location is fine considering your not far from the beach on one hand, the major bus terminals on the other, the newer and nice Mall and Shopping Center-grocery store. A bit of a walk to downtown, but a bus to there passes directly in front of the hotel and is only around 50 cents US or 400 Pesos Chilenos. So the location os good! Upon our arrival they had sent for a pick up which charged on the cheaper end, it made the arrival very nice, for we arrived late at night. The hotel was also awaiting us! The price is very reasonable and they are always occupied.
Cons:
My only suggestions of improvement are that; 1) They hotel staff becomes better informed of all of the tourist attractions in the greater Arica area. There are many who desire to see the attractions without paying the higher priced travel agencies or taxi guide service. (We left a recommendation of a young man who has a car, very reasonable priced and flexible, and knows the locations of other nice attractions, such as actual Archeological Ruins, and other better preserved geoglyphs, along with the typical sites-his name is Mauricio). 2)If you use a credit card, there should not be the charge for the resident VAT tax. I was not charged in the end, but an effort was made to charge me. This tax is not chargeable to tourists of another country, only under certain conditions.
