Dovedale view from our nice bedroom Fruit quality available at breakfast
Setting is outstanding price of the evening meal
Beautiful location right in the heart of Dovedale. Pleasant staff at reception and in the restaurant. Were there for two nights. The room for the first night was small, quite poky and contained a four poster bed that looked quite nice but was not full size, saggy in the middle and about three feet off the ground. Unfortunately as a couple we are full size and also quite saggy in the middle. To say I had a bad night's sleep would ne inaccurate. I did not sleep at all. Not a wink. It was like lying in a canopied hammock. In the morning I spoke to reception and said that we could not sleep in the same room another night and to be fair to them they were very good about it and changed our room. It did unfortunately spoil our stay however because we were so shattered that we couldn't really enjoy the walking we were so looking forward
Clean, well-appointed room; Excellent location; 4-poster bed unexpected surprise; excellent set price evening meal; free admission to Chatsworth House as part of 2-night package. Knowledgable and friendly staff. There were no bad points.
The location The room and the food.
Staff very friendly and helpful None
Lovely setting, good restaurant [although limited menu], numerous intimate lounges. Reception staff very helpful and attentive. Restaurant service excellent. We dined in the bar on the first night and the kitchen closed during our meal, and so we were unable to finish our meal! When we queried this with the bar manager he just smiled politely and disappeared.
Room comfortable and spacious. Efficient central heating. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Dinner expensive, no a la carte and only average quality. Breakfast badly overcooked! Hot water only lukewarm.
Beautiful location. Nice bedroom. Good lounge areas. Lovely gardens. Bar food disappointing.
wonderful location, very good food (breakfast and dinner)
lovely breakfast - vegetarian menu for my son
Rooms smelt musty and damp. Food was badly cooked.
The only drawback about the whole place was the price of the evening meal. This is a two star hotel however prices are of a five star rating
An 'atmospheric' location, great breakfast, and very helpful staff. The chalet accommodation may not be to everyone's taste, but in my view is preferable to having people above you in a hotel room (walking over the creaking floorboards at 3:00am, etc.)
quality of evening meal cooked breakfast was tasteless
The family atmosphere was great with children and dogs being most welcome. The food was plentiful and very tasty
The quality of food was good if rather excessive. Felt the place neede a lift. The rooms were looking tired with paint flaking.
the food was well cooked and appetising the fact we had to walk across about 50 yards to the Inn for our meals from our motel style room was not made clear on website.
The use of the spa it was very reasonable
Great food, excellent location, rooms were lovely, staff were very hospitable and friendly which contributed to a great experience. Facilities in the room (television, hairdryer) were somewhat faulty - with the television we could only get bbc 1, where as the other room in our party have access t omultiple channels.
Breakfast very good Located on busy road, disturbed by traffic noise during night.
Well situated in ashbourne, good staff , excellent breakfast Room freezing during the night & morning, with not enough warm bedding. My daughter moved her bedding onto the floor as she could feel the slats through the mattress, both of us had an uncomfortable night, not a good start for our business meeting.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly, the rooms and the main areas we saw of the hotel were extremly clean, the bed was very firm, which was great for me,overall an excellent stay. Some people may not like the firmness of the mattress. I was not wowed by the food, but hotel overall is excellent
Very good service
Good loction and good restaurant. Room somewhat cramped for the price. Price charged thro'activehotels greater than would have been through personal booking.
Hotel is small and staff are friendly and very efficient. Rooms are a reasonable size and bedrooms are well dressed and comfortable. Bathrooms could do with a little updating and water pressure when having a shower is a little low. At present you have to check in within the main restaurant which is awkward. I understand that there are plans to alter this arrangement in the near future
a nice pleasent stay, staff very helpful , food very good as its an old coaching inn rooms are smaller than used to but still very good
Fantastic dinner and breakfast. Really top!! Staff was extremely helpfull and friendly. Didn't like the twin bedroom we had booked as it smelled of damp. Also to get there you had to go up the stairs and come down again. It was nicely decorated though. We changed rooms double bedroom.
The staff were just excellent. Very welcoming, helpful and informative. Good location in such a lovely town.
