Athens hostels

Pros: It was my second stay here and it was great. The hostel is in the city center close to many restaurants, supermarket, metro and train. Beds are comfy, there are lockers for your things. The bathroom is clean. The staff is very nice and always willing to help, also the reception is open 24 hours a day. Would definitely come back again.

Pros: The staff is super friendly and the place is super clean, I definitely would recommend this place!

Pros: Bed with curtains for more privacy. Common areas are nice, not crowded, good kitchen. Bed is comfortable. Staff are really helpful and friendly, Elisa was the best, super friendly and always ready to help and smile! Thanks Elisa and good luck! Most of them have a good level of English and Spanish, so easy to interact!

Cons: Sometimes I found the toilet dirty, they should clean it more. Wifi didn't work well at my room.

Pros: Location - walking distance to archaeological museum, acropolis. Metro stations with direct access to Piraeus port, airport, Larissa bus station Helpful and nice staff

Cons: Towels should be free of charge

Pros: it´s a bed in a box - but still quite new, the location is great 3 min from Monastiraki, everyone is super - friendly, you will feel very safe here.

Pros: Staff was great, very friendly and welcoming. Location is very good, 5 minutes away from Monastiraki metro station, right in the heart of Athens. Beds were clean and comfortable, you had sockets and light at your bed. Also have a locker for your personal belongings. Bathrooms were also clean , no problems with hot water. As a conclusion, it's one of the best ones, I recommend it for anyone.

Cons: Nothing to complain

Pros: Great kitchen on Ground floor&chillout area with toilets downstairs, lots of seating (& powerpoints inside) and outside. Top top location that was on a quiet street then basically a 1mn walk if that turn a corner to a main street then you're in the hustle&bustle. I didn't have a problem with pickpocketing but it's nice the hostel watches out&reminds you of it! Great terraces through building to. There seemed to be someone cleaning throughout the day to which was nice. Wonderful lovely staff.

Cons: Bunk bed was comfy but some of the rooms have areas partitioned in the one room so anyone can ply with the aircon&if you're lucky enough to be right next to it it's super loud going off&on every 20mn so, great for sleep. No earplugs do not help with it. It also wasn't even that hot. They say a 12hr turnover for a load of washing which is a bit long I thought.

Pros: Good hostel. Good reception. Good price.

Cons: sometime people dirty the baths after the cleaning has passed, so bath cleaning should be twice a day at least. We guests need more tables at kitchen level, would be nice.

Cons: Clean and fine but empty and clinical feeling. Shared space was lacking.

Pros: Clean, enough space for work and dining, friendly stuff, practically any number of needed lockets, sockets all around, many bathrooms with toilets and showers. I would come back.

Cons: Maybe one more chair in the room.

Cons: As a wheelchair user I couldn't use the shower. There was a surround making it impossible for me.

Pros: View was nice and AC was very appreciated. Hostel was altogether clean. It's alright if you're just passing through, wanting to stay only a couple of nights.

Cons: There was almost no common room, no way to sit with friends and just enjoy, or even meet new people as is often done in hostels. We did get late booking, came in, rang the bell as there was no one at the reception and a person that I am still not sure if he was employee or just a guy sitting on the balcony came and opened - after he shrugged at us and let us thinking for a bit that we might not have a place to sleep that night. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for people staying longer, hoping to meet other travellers.

Pros: Spacious double room with private bathroom. Close to metro (subway).

Cons: Eateries choice is limited in the area.

Pros: It was clean, cheap and relatively close to all touristy things. The rooftop views were nice.

Cons: There was no real area to lounge with other travellers. The very sparse seating area on the 1st floor does not count. The fact that it says every room has a balcony. What this means is if you have a front room then yes you get to share the balcony with the other front rooms. If you have the one closest to the stairs in the back, then no you don't get a balcony.

Pros: I dont like my stay

Pros: Everything was clean, the staff was incredible, and the beds were just as comfortable as the ones at the Parthenon Hotel.

Pros: I liked the location of this hostel. So close to the acropolis and city centre. Very close to metro station. Very good value. I liked that they had free luggage storage cause i went to Santorini and left my big bag in their hostel 2nd branch. Wifi was Ok. Bed was comfy. Staff was helpful. Breakfast is okay also, just simple.

Cons: The vibe isnt too fun. Maybe depends when you go and who you meet. Not my crowd kind. The bathroom needs to be cleaned more since there is only 1 per floor.

Pros: + The property is located close to the metro station - 2 or 3 stops and you in the centre + We havent met the owner but instructions were very clear and it was easy to find;) + shopd, bakeries close by + we found Polish slops by coincidende in the neighbour hood (but that an extra + only for us probably:):) +good overall contact with the owner - quick reply +good value for money + balcony was very nice to sit down in the evening

Cons: - the neighbourhood was not ideal escpecially in the evening but it was not bad after all - we were a bit unlucky as person satying in the other room had fish to eat and did not bother to throw away trash straight away( we had to do it when he left) so the smell was a bit unpleasant and you could smell it in the whole apartment.

Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Great value and helpful and friendly owner.

Cons: Quite noisy especially on Saturdays when the steert market sets up at 5am!

Pros: Everything we needed was there, affordable price for such a nice apartament.

Cons: Although we were greatly satisfied, a few times we encountered cockroaches. If there is a way to solve that issue then it would be definitely a step for perfection :)

Pros: Although close to the centre and train station, the area itself is not the greatest... Room was ok, glad the airconditioning worked :) Having a balcony was also cool. Kitchen had all the necessary amenities.

Cons: There were a lot of cockroaches in the kitchen unfortunately.

Pros: Very spatious apartment (shared bathroom and balcony), fully equipped, very nice balcony for hot Atenian nights, nicely decorated (IKEA :), extremely smooth communication with the owner, plenty of free parking spots in front of the building. An easy half an hour walk to the city centre, and close to the metro station. Since it is a predominantly arab neibourhood, plenty of good cheap kebabs around. Although I read in other reviews that it is a shady neibourhood, I felt perfectly safe 100% of the time.

Cons: It is an old building in an old neibourhood, so expect a little cockroach in the kitchen now and then. There is no infestation, we just found two in three days. Also, it would be a very good idea to furnish the apartment with a slightly bigger water heater. It is not a problem during the summer, but I see how it could be when 4 people want to take a warm shower in colder days.

Pros: The room was very confortable and clean, had clean bed sheets and towels. Have hairdryer, ironing machine and table. Acces to kitchen well equiped, bathroom and balcony. Good location, less then 10 minutes from the city center, good connection with the airport - either by metro or the express bus (xr93). Lots of commerce, restaurants, supermarkets around. The acces to the appartement is very clear, the host was very helpful (didn't meet him but very responsive)

Pros: Communication with owner was easy, It was close to a Metro station (in a dodgy area) It was clean.

Cons: The location was out of the main area but I guess we didnt research it enough. The listing said that we would have our own (separate) balcony, only to awake one morning with the cleaner hanging laundry on the shared balcony while we were still in bed with the blinds open, (not ideal). As it is a shared apartment there is actually little privacy, the other guest turned all the lights on which came through the glass doors and woke us up at 1am, again not ideal. you had to turn the water heater on and off and wait 20 mins before using the shower, the bed squeaked and there pancake pillows. it was allot of money for what you actually get.

Cons: Loud neighborhood.

Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful, the accomodation is basic, but has everything you probably need. Great location and great value to price.

Pros: The location is pretty central. The staff are helpful. I really liked the rooftop terrace. Nice social vibe on the weekend. Breakfast is rather basic. Overall a good value for the price.

Pros: The staff is great, but because of the bedbugs bites i got from the Hostel i just can't give a 10, it changed my plans for this trip

Pros: The staff are really helpful, the dorm is huge with lots of space and lockers, free breakfast is great but quite basic, rooftop is nice to hang out on, great food places nearby.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was in a little bit sketchy part of the neighborhood, but it was central and walking distance to everything in the Center of Athens. The facilities were an amazing deal for the price. I would stay here again. The staff was also very helpful in recommendations and information about places in Athens.

Cons: There were lockers on the 3rd floor, but I wish there were some on every floor. I had some problems with the locks and keys to my room, but the staff was very helpful in fixing it.

Pros: Great place to stay. We had a private room with shared bathroom. Bathrooms were very clean!

Cons: Not sure about the pigeons that would fly into the kitchen and terrace area and poo all over the bench.

Pros: Perfect location, super nice crew.

Cons: Strong amoniac smell in the room and we opened the windows for fresh air, but 10 mosquitoes joined us in. We had the smell and the mosquitoes for the whole night.

Pros: We liked the location, the closeness to most sights and shopping area, as well as to metro stations to/from port and aeroport. Staff were friendly, helpful with directions and explanations. There are lockers where luggage can be kept throughout your stay (2 EUR) as well as for the time between check-out and leaving for the aeroport. Enough showers and toilets per floor, very clean. We stayed at a double room, 12 sq m but tall ceilings so didn't feel tight.

Cons: There was some early morning noise from other visitors, late arrivals or clubbers perhaps.

Pros: We had a big room for 4 hosters; That was way better than other hostels with smaller space or more hosters in the same room. Bathroom and showers were shared with other rooms, but very close to my room and with a proper privacy. Balcony was also a plus. Very centric and with a perfect relation price quality.

Cons: The chief staff was initially nice..though when I had my bag and literally every important thing stolen no passport, no money, no phone, no laptop no Lonely Planet, ( I borrowed money from my friend so I could still pay) and I had stayed 3 nights, then to the most contrary. Not the slightest bit helpful and very unwelcome. No effort made to help me search info like consulate or police, even refused to make any local calls which I needed to find out important places. I was told to find out somewhere else as they could not help despite that they had WiFi and own smartphones etc. I ultimately went to Bed Box Hostel and Funny Small World Hostel which were both extremely understanding and so incredibly helpful ..which I make a very special thank you mention here to them both. Especially as I hadn't stayed earlier and just knew of Bed Box as my friend had stayed there. I wouldn't usually write negatives in a review though... and hope others won't have emergencies ..but just be aware of my experience with this Acropolis Hostel

Pros: that was close to the metro, the flea market of Athens and some important sites. Helpful stuff and no worries about late check in

Cons: Didn't seem the safest place.

Cons: Not a very nice atmosphere. People is not sharing at the common room. Wich is only the kitchen... The don't change bed sheets or if they do, it is randomly done. There's no track on who is using which bed so that makes the task impossible. One of the guys at the reception is very rude. Some of the permanent residents are very nice though.

Pros: Great location - walking distance to all major sights, 2 min from Monasteraki square. Rooms are good - big, with personal lockers with locks, beds are good. Elevator is working. Balcony with Acropolis view.

Cons: Staff is not very helpful. Many people who look like immigrants gather in the kitchen, they are either employees or just live there, but generally behave themselves well. Water in the shower was cold on 4 the floor.

Pros: Everywhere was near. Amazing location and cool host. View on Acropolis was directly from the balcony

Pros: if you care about your safety, don't book there there are many other hostels that are better
