My adult daughter did not sleep well because sound carried via room vent from room next door.
Very low hot water pressure in shower, did not deliver chocolate strawberries to my room like they were supposed to
160.00 a night on a weekend? 15 a day for parking?
Nothing I would recommend this hotel. It was centrally located in downtown Kalamazoo MI. My husband is a retired Delta pilot who has traveled the world and he rated our stay at the hotel, excellent! He ordered room service while we were there and the food was delicious.
its down town, close to everything. staff was great. very clean. rooms were kind of small and the walls were thin you can hear everyone in the halls and the rooms on either side.
Location, walking distance to food, drinks, shopping Cost, plumbing issues, elevators, sound issues. Super expensive, but the location is great. It's the only hotel in the heart of downtown, that's why they gouge ya. Jerks.
Luxury hotel. Restaurants on floor level. Hair in tub.
What a wonderful stay we had. The staff was caring and attentive, The on site amenities were great, a couple of restaurants and bars, as well as a breakfast place. And just blocks from everything we needed to walk to. The concierge level upgrade was probably not worth the price for our stay, the room was a very comfortable but normal sized.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived after midnight and the front desk spent time suggesting places for my sister and I to visit the next day, even though it was very late. Also, the beds were very comfy and stocked with plenty of pillows. Overall, very happy with my stay.
Very clean Comfortable beds Staff was very welcoming and positive New hotel Room was small but had everything we needed Excellent price Late check out of noon instead of 11 like most places Right off the highway near Kzoo THe only reason why I didn't give this place 5/5 is the walls are very thin. We could hear a lot of what was going on in the rooms above and on each side of us.
NOISE that impacted my sleep so much it ruined my days in Kzoo
Bed was comfortable
Relatively clean, nice place to stay for a night or two. We were placed in the corner on the bottom floor and, particularly on Thursday night it was quite loud (I'm fairly certain it was the room above us that was having rather loud intercourse). You could hear every time someone flushed their toilet, which was typical, but could be obnoxious for some. I also found the bed a tad firm, but this is also a personal preference rather than an actual problem with the hotel as a whole.
Very loud, walls are paper thin. Would have had a better night sleep in my car in the parking lot.
Our valet named nate was a great help and a great kid. I put in for ajoining rooms over two months ago,the called a couple of days to check on the ajoining rooms was told everything was all set. When we got to our rooms they weren't.I called front desk and they said there was nothing they could do for me.Very poor job.
Comfy and economical No
Most everything was fine. I've stayed here many times when visiting family in Battle Creek. The valet parking is fine, the rooms are okay, and I usually have few complaints. BUT - the noise can be really bad during large events at the attached convention center. Idiot midwestern families occupying multiple rooms seem to like to shout down the hallways as if they were in their own home instead of a shared facility. The worst, though, is that the staff apparently don't bother to reprogram the alarm clocks on the nightstands between guests. Cue me getting woken up out of a deep sleep at 5 a.m., having to yank the damn clock out of the wall to get it to shut up, and never getting back to sleep. UNACCEPTABLE.
Hotel was clean, comfortable, staff was very pleasant and accomidating very poor buffet, eggs and bacon, hashbrowns and juice or coffee
Close walking distance to family members living in area There was a smell every time we came out of the lift and sometimes in the room. There was an oil spill in the area recently so we can only presume some of the guests were working on the clean-up and carried in the oil on their boots/clothes
The hotel was perfect for our needs. We had a group of friends in 3 rooms going to the Casino, Firekeepers. We enjoyed the pool. The staff were friendly and professional. I called to inquired about adding the casino package (valet, shuttle and breakfast) to our reservation , and was told that we could do so at check in. When we checked in, we were not able to do so, but our friends who checked in shortly after us were able to. Confusing... The restaurant in the hotel was very understaffed at breakfast on a Sunday morning. The servers were very polite and were working very hard.
we were really impressed with our stay. very quiet. we liked the idea of being right down town and so close to everything. any time we are coming to battle creek this will be our first choice to book. thanks for being so nice. no complaints about anything
Almost nothing - overpriced. Also, booking.com failed to send our reservations to the proper fax number - so when we got to the hotel, they did not have our reservations (sent in april for a stay in July!!) 1. Breakfast buffet at j Barleycorn's was the worst buffet we have ever had. 2. Our room was not made up the first full day of our stay, even though we were gone most of that day. 3. Could not get cold water out of our bathroom sink. 4. The tv remote did not work. 5. Air conditioner made an ungodly noise all night. 6. No valet parking service on sunday. 7. No sunday paper in the hotel.
House cleaning staff was awesome!! Access to the Kellogg Arena was exceptional. Did not like the way my family was treated at the restaurant inside the hotel. The staff was unorganized and unfriendly. Also, did not like the security guards in the pool area.
Staff was so helpful and friendly. Room was clean and very comfortable. Close to everything .. Walkable downtown .
Hotel is a bit run down, but I was just staying for one night and could put up with run down so long as clean. The minute we entered the hall way of the 6th floor where we stayed, we couldn't get past the musty chemical smell. We arrived late, and were leaving for another engagement so didn't really have time to change our plans. Room was adequate but had the same smell. If it weren't for the smell wouldn't have been too bad. They also meessed up my reservation, had requested a king bed but got two queen bed room instead. Again, we were in a bit of a hurry so didn't tell front desk as it wasn't a huge deal. On positive note, the staff was very nice, On website of hotel, mentions that they have a shuttle service to the casino. The day we were there, there was no shuttle service so we took a cab to casino. $15 cab ride, so not that big of deal.
walking distance to resturants, because they have only one the bottom of the bed was broken, not enough pillows no blankets, had to pay for shuttle to casino
We loved everything. The bed was so cozy, the sheets were super soft. The ceiling was hand detailed painted. The staff were extremely helpful and sweet. The food was simply delicious. This experience was so amazing we won't ever be able to stay at a boring old hotel again. We loved everything. There wasn't anything we didn't like. We have no complaints.
This is not my first stay but was the worst. My young brother in law left an item in the room and when we xame back for it they said it wasn't there and wouldn't let us go check ourselves. We knew we left ut on the bed so someone there kept it.
Very quiet and close to dinning. Price was right. No outdoor electric outlets.
Nothing Heater, bed, supplements
Not clean, cold hardwood floors, best to wear socks...or for safety's sake, hip waders...when walking around the room. "Free" wifi was slower than the old 56K dial-up modems, couldn't even get enough signal strength (AT&T) to make telephone calls. Upon checking out early, the desk clerk didn't even ask why - I assume this thing happens to them a lot. For a few dollars more, I checked into Microtel by Wyndham on the west side of Kalamazoo. Clean, modern, well-appointed, working wifi, free continental breakfast. Worth it!
My room was big and comfortable and well-kept. The rooms have recently been renovated and feature hardwood floors and new dressers and beds, The clerk was very helpful and friendly and amusing. Great place for the value. TV was on the small side. Shower hardware was a little old. Otherwise, everything was great.
had a bed and tv I checked in and made my way to the room, which smelled like smoke and/or mold, immediately I started getting headaches and sneezing. Many people were smoking outside and AC was on, so I think it was drawing in outside air. There were also dirt piles in the corners, and toilet was in bad shape. Went in for a refund, and they asked if I wanted to see another room. The second room didn't smell as bad, so I took it.
Staff was friendly, quiet, close to alot. That breakfast want available for the price.
Rooms were not very clean
Pergo floors instead of carpet, BUT they were very dirty. Good for traveling with pets. They obviously dosed the rooms with Febreeze, which I am very allergic to. Had to switch rooms after instant asthma attack, and leave the door open with the fans on full force for an hour plus. Then, in the morning, instead of the wakeup call I'd asked for, I awoke to the smell of cigarette smoke coming in the fan blowing outside air in. Obviously, my neighbor was getting his first cig of the day in, outside my room. Later, they both retreated to their car for a smoke, which meant their car exhaust filled my room. I shut the fan off at that point, of course. Not cool, especially for anyone with respiratory issues. Naively, I thought "100% Smoke Free!" indicated a commitment to better breathing practices on the corporate level, but it's just a marketing gimmick. Very disappointed.
Loved the room. People there very nice. Convenient to expressway. Tv sucked. Snowy picture.
Nicely updated design of the room colors and bed linens. Attention to room details needs to improve. The room we stayed in (316) had grout missing between the floor tiles in the bathroom. The main light in the room didn't come on, but just flickered. The light fixture in the bathroom was falling off on one side. The mattress was not firm but lumpy (but was somewhat mitigated by the soft mattress topper). all of this I could have lived with better had the the price not been so out of line with what we are used to spending for much better maintained facilities--which would be more in the $80 a night range. As it was we got a "deal" through Kayak on the room for just $113 for the night as opposed to the $135 a night we would have had to pay when I contacted the hotel directly.
Remote control was wrapped in plastic, had hd tv but they didn't spring for had channels, couch dirty
How uncomfortable I felt using the jet tub. I wish there was a way to know that they actually clean them thoroughly. I went down to the front desk to get sanitizer myself. Half the reason we came was for the jacuzzi, and the jets didn't even work.
Very convenient location to where we were visiting friends, restaurants, stores Bedding was dirty. Received dirty washcloths from housekeeping (looked like cleaning rags). Left our brand new phone charger in the room after checkout and nobody from housekeeping turned it in.
Breakfast. Gym. No ice machine apparent on second floor. Slow clogged sink. in kitchenette Shower curtain too short and missing magnets.
Clean, quite room, Good breakfast. Ideal location for access to family and the highway. Liked the fact that workout room was available. Great room location, high floor away from the elevstor. Our was a hot tub room. Even though it was a suite we did not have a table or a sofa.
Great hot tub
Rooms were large The pool was disgusting and looked like it had not had a good cleaning in a long time. The bed was like sleeping on a rock and tge pillows were lumpy and not comfortable at all. Overall very disappointed
I felt I was listened too when I had an issue. The room size was very nice (double queen size room) The pool heater was broke and the water was very cold. My youngest had blue lips.
Room was large and we needed the pull out couch. Room was not very clean, shower didn't work (dribbled out and made horrible screeching noise when turned to hot.) Metal trim on headboard was hanging off, nasty. Pool was small and hot tub was disgusting, seats covered in yellow grime.
Found an large-ish piece of trash (that was unidentifiable, but resembled seaweed balled up in a clump) under the bed skirt around midnight. Brought it down to the nighttime desk clerk who did give me a $10 discount off the room. Thought my worries were over. Was I wrong. I was awoken around 1am by very angry men swearing at each other and repeatedly slamming another man against my closed (and thankfully, locked) hotel door. This went on for about 5-10 minutes. As a woman staying by herself, I was quite scared. The next morning, I told the manager I would be canceling the rest of my stay due to the situation last night. She proceeded to tell me that the men who were outside my door last night were frequent customers, and that "they were perfectly harmless, but you didn't know that". Worst customer service I've ever had and worst hotel stay ever.
Was very clean and nice pool and jacuzzi everyone where nice I lot a kid and to much noise and the hole way kid where nakking at the doors
Very Friendly Staff,
Location Yes. There was a man banging on the exterior door of the adjacent room and shouting obscene language from 4 am to 4:30 am. I called the front desk twice, no answer. The man entered the hotel room attacked a lady, I called the police. It was scarry.
Bedding was clean and comfortable. Carpet was very dirty, I could not walk barefoot on it. The setting did not seem Marriott standards as I know them.
The room was very spacious with many features. The kitchen area had a breakfast bar, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, coffee maker, and toaster. Living room had fold out sofa. Bathroom had separate sink/vanity area and shower/toilet room.
The room was spacious and accommodating. The outside entry way to my room was not as well kept as it could have been.
they had a room available!

Spacious rooms, comfortable

Price Yes, found look strands of hair in shower. My room was right next to outdoors basketball court and swimming pool. Very noisy.
Great apartment style room. Spacious, full kitchen. Breakfast included. Had internet (wired) in room, would have liked wireless.
Clean. Great pool and patio. Staff friendly and helpful. No
Very nice kitchen, loved the bigger refrigerator. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, best I've seen in a hotel. Pool and jacuzzi were out of order the whole weekend. They were one of the big selling points for me on this hotel and we never got to use them. Hallway down by pool reeked of marijuana. Went to leave Saturday evening and the car next to us had two guys smoking a joint in it. Couldn't go in or out of the front door without walking through a bunch of people smoking.
The hotel is older but the staff is fantastic. Always friendly and willing to help. Will go out of their way to make you feel at home.
checked in, wrong room, came back to the desk, placed in the same room type.. decided I didn't want to walk all the way down again, next morning no continental breakfast... friends stayed elsewhere and were extremely happy with their stay.. I guess it's time to find out where they stayed and go there next time
Unclean hotel, old.. needs alot of help, the remodeling is only a bandaid at best! Hair on bathroom floors in my room and all of our wedding parties rooms. Management another story, they could care less
I stayed here for one night with my 6 & 7 year olds for spring break. The check-in staff were nice and welcoming. They offered to 'upgrade' us to a room with direct access to the pool and I eagerly agreed. Bad idea, if you need to get some sleep! It meant that we were together with all the other springbreakers (mostly tweens and teens) and it was loud with voices in the hallway and doors slamming until way after 11pm and again as early as 7am! The pool area was clean but watch out as the areas around the pool was very slippery! We found out when one of mine slipped & hit his head! Luckily he was alright. I liked the idea that 'up to 4 kids can eat free with one paying adult.' Howevever, the portions on the kids' menu are obviously for 2 year olds. My boys ordered pizza--they were about half the size of the personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut. Two bites, the pizza was gone & they were still hungry. Oh, and it took forever for us to get our food AND the check. The waitress kept disappearing. The idea of a hot breakfast was also good. We chose the breakfast bar so we wouldn't have to wait so long to get our food. But it took them forever to refill the items. The omelette station looked appealing but don't get an omelet--it is THE WORST omelette I have ever had BAR NONE. It was so cold the shredded cheese didn't even melt & the veggies were still raw. We paid $* + taxes for this room and that was too much for a hotel that's just average!
I had a great time when I stay at the Holiday Inn. However, the internet was too slow to do something such as email.
This hotel is really old, outdated and extremely dirty with a serious sound problem. The Holidome is unattended by staff and the facility allows outside persons to have birthday parties in the Holidome. These parties are attended by tons of children swimming and running around with minimal supervision. The facility is very dirty with bugs seen in public as well as the private bathrooms. Staff was unprofessional and unconcerned re: customer complaints.
I found that the staff of this hotel was very helpful, especially for people whe were unfamiliar with the area. I was very appreciative of the shuttle service.
It is OK at best with new furniture.
We couldn't get reservations into the Holiday Inn with a waterpark in Grand Rapids. So, I took my 6-year-old son and his friend for an overnight stay at Holiday Inn West in Kalamazoo and a day at Pirate's Island (the waterpark) nearby. We stayed here so the boys could swim and play video games at the hotel and have a free breakfast. Great food but it took forever for us to get our dinner! Breakfast was awesome. The room and the pool were great. But the hotel was noisy--people slamming doors late into the night and early in the morning. We didn't get much rest. Hotel location is great--it is close to other places of entertainment for kids for daytime activities. All in all, not a bad value for the money.
-Very friendly staff -Option to decline housekeeping service in advance - green -Very accomodating for check in/out... late check in available, later check out available. -Not far from downtown area.. shopping, food -Bar/Restaurant in lobby -I expected a little higher appearance quality for the room based on the price and how pretty the lobby/exterior photos, however, it was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable!
Location for the event we were attend. Don't think the air conditioning was on in the public areas, after showering I didn't want to set in the warm area to eat breakfast. Had a small problem with a panhandler.
Rented a Jacuzzi suite with king bed. Front desk people were very kind. Room was nice and clean. There was no trouble at all getting service during the day. Room was quite spacious, had a microwave, a very large refrigerator with separate freezer compartment. The breakfast area is very small but has all the basics. The beds in this hotel are very soft and comfortable, and the sheets nice and warm even when I turn the A/C on to 68 with constant fan. Service ground to a halt at night with only one person on staff. Any extra pillows or towels needed to be picked up and could not be delivered due to lack of personnel. The Jacuzzi in the suite was small and only could really fit one person, and it leaked. After use, the carpet around the jacuzzi was drenched and sopping wet for about two feet. The fitness room was very small and only had three machines crammed in without much room to get between them, the hotel pool was murky/cloudy. The iron in the room did not work when I attempted to iron a shirt. The power light simply didn't even go on when plugged in. The coffee pot was dirty in the water reservoir area. There were plenty of loud noises at 1:30am during the week (I rented from Tues-Sat) including banging, running up and down the hall, and what sounded like jumping off the bed on the second floor above me. The environment that the hotel is in can be described as 'shady'. Not a bad neighborhood, but not a very nice one either. Someone in a white car parked next to mine at some point during the night attempted to back out and took out my left rear quarter panel, taking a gouge out of it and leaving a nice foot and a half long white scrape. There are no cameras on the parking lot, just the entry door. If you have a nice car, beware here. I wouldn't leave anything of value in the car. Definitely feels "downtown" in the hood. All in all though, with considering the price for the amenities, it was a good value.
This is a new hotel that is very clean. Most importantly, the staff was awesome.
Clean and vibrant. The good news is that there is a nice restaurant in the hotel. The surprise news was that there was not a complimentary breakfast for patrons. The listing talks about 'breakfast' which is true yet I anticipated a free one like most others. My fault?
Very nice hotel.

I have stayed in many hotels this year and this was the BEST!!!! Great service, very CLEAN rooms, and very friendly staff. The BEDS were awesome also!!! I would go back again in a minute!
Situated next to malls and food and shopping and stuff. No free breakfast. It's a Holiday Inn, not a Hilton.
Person working front desk when we checked in was very cordial even though it was 1:00 in the morning. Free internet was appreciated.
Comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Hot breakfast could be better.
Location to anything you would need, (food, shopping, gas, etc) The lounge closes very early on the weekends
We pick the hotel, because, it was a 3 star When we walked into the hotel, there was ton of people partying in the lobby. Beer bottles and food every where. Kids running around until 3 am. Very poor first impression. We paid good money for the hotel,---. We had already paid for the room.
The Holiday Inn is a must if you are staying in the Battle Creek area. Front lobby staff was very polite and efficient, the room was comfortable, clean, & with upgraded amenities compared to other local hotels I've stayed in the past. After such a great experience, The Holiday Inn Battle Creek is the only place I'll stay for future trips to the area!!
We were given a handicap room which was very large and comfortable. The bed was huge and clean and comfy. This is a simple hotel, but if you're not going to be in your hotel a lot, it's perfect House keeping showed up at 9am and tried to come in about 5 times.
I've stayed here in the past with no problems and gave high ratings, but this time the room was not clean. I was too tired to deal with it that night as I arrived late in the evening, but the NEW manager in the morning took care of it immediately and gave me a Full refund and apology! She said improvements were coming. I will give them another try next time I need to stay in Kalamazoo.
It looked really nice, the lawn was pretty. There were dead bugs everywhere.
The outside looks a little sketchy, but the newly renovated rooms were very nice!! Everything was clean and up to our standards. We enjoyed our stay!
Great room. Very comfortable. There were stains on the bed sheets and towels. Very gross. Felt very dirty. Towels and sheets need to be cleaned better.
Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was nice.
Attentive staff and very comfortable rooms.
Friendly staff, delicious cookies provided at check-in. Easy to spot hotel, but driving instructions a bit tricky with finding the right road entrance
The cleanliness, the courtesy, and the comfort. I have to say I think I liked the breakfast most of all.
Breakfast was good. Hotel housekeeping staff were rude and not nice. Breakfast staff were rude.
Staff very friendly and helpful with directions. Clean, nice rooms. Kind of pricey.
Nice staff, clean rooms. Expensive snacks and coffee. Wish there was free breakfast.
Beautiful, great location. Clean Pricy, especially for Battle Creek area Also about 3 am there were other guests in our hallway whom were very very loud for 10-15 min or do. Woke myself and my 14 month old granddaughter up. Very rude and disruptive on their part
Short walk to food, comfortable to sleep, eat, relax and repeat. Unsure why they needed to charge a security deposit for room damage, when they should have a signature giving permission to charge if damage on exit. Seemed like a scam, to acquire funds, and then fail to return them. Leaves guest having to check that it is refunded to their account.
Nice to include breakfast! Good selection, variety of items.
