Pros: Fantastic breakfast. Good parking area. Wonderful with the wine cellar with tasting of wine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, excellent food and wine. Staff is amazing. Spacious and clean rooms. THANK YOU
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we stayed on our trip. The family Stahl were AMAZING. We had biked/cried/climbed the monster hill to get to their place and were exhausted. They welcomed us with open arms, carried our things in, and expedited check in so that we could shower and still order food before the kitchen closed. Throughout the stay, everything was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and homemade. The neighborhood was beautiful, too. Highly recommend to all drivers and bikers (but only the ones more athletic than we were).
Cons: This place is built on top of a hill. When they say Rhine Valley, well, this is not the valley. This is the nice hill overlooking the valley. So, lovely bike rides down the hill. Less fun climbing back up the hill. Still, the scenery was gorgeous and I think we'd do it again, we liked it THAT much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They served an exceptionable breakfast. The coffee was delicious and a variety of home items served. The lady gets up at 4:00 AM every morning to bake what is served and the staff treats you like Family.. Everything was amazing!
Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: Wonderful Gasthaus. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had at a hotel. Dinners were great too and all the staff were very friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gasthaus Weingut Stahl was the perfect conclusion to our Germany trip. The hospitality was sincere. The food and wine were delicious. The breakfast spread was amazing. This family has a business that they can be proud of. My only regret was that I didn't have extra luggage space to bring home wine.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved absolutely everything about our stay at Gasthaus Weingut Stahl. The location is wonderful - away from all the train noises in the villages along the Rhine. Our rooms were fantastic, and were spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were modern and well equipped. Breakfast was simply amazing, and Krista, our hostess, kept forcing us to try her home-made cakes (for breakfast!!). We ate dinner out on the deck both nights and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Paul serves his brother's wines, and encouraged us to head down to the cellar for tastings. We could not fault this hotel, and would heartily recommend it. It would be best to have a car if you are staying there however.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We were given a warm welcome and shown to a lovely large room which was very clean. The hotel is a lovely mix of old and new. The Bedroom we had was fresh and modern, while the dining room was more in line with a old traditional Farm House. The evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was exceptional. Huge variety of friut cakes savories both hot and cold. We cannot fault this guest house. full marks

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Did not eat a breakfast at the hotel
Cons: Very limit restaurants around the hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: * The friendly and attentive receptionists and other employees. You could see they enjoyed their work! We only booked for one night and asked if we could stay another night, because on the internet evertything was fully booked. About an hour later the receptionist called to say we could get another room (with extra terrace) for the same price. The next morning his colleague already knew who I was (don't know how) so I didn't have to explain everything again and we got the card of the new room which was already ready to use; * The breakfast was very good and the surroundings near the Rijn-river are beautiful; * Parking is free
Cons: * The dinette was a bit small, so people are walking around each other. Breakfast on the other hand was very good and enough choice; * The lack of a waterboiler and fridge on the room is a pity.

Pros: Room was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable modern hotel in a former school house, built in Bauhaus style. Nicely designed rooms, sunny terrace, friendly staff, good breakfast. All around pleasant.
Cons: The small village of Lorch is not the most exciting location in the Rhine valley. There are a couple good wine restaurants and a lot of train traffic running through the village. Fortunately, this hotel is removed from that noise and pleasantly quiet.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and cool building.
Cons: Parking lot is too small during busy days or long weekends. The front-desk staff asked for rooms to be paid on check-in, despite our stay being 4 days long. Usually you stay at a hotel first and then pay at the end. Didn't like that part...otherwise fine though.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean with a beautiful view. Delicious breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle grounds and immaculate and great restaurant
7.5 Good
Pros: Charming idea to stay in a castle
Cons: The lady at reception was not very welcoming. She seemed annoyed that we had bikes. She also seemed annoyed that we wanted to visit the tower at 7pm even though her colleague told us that it would be fine until 8pm (when they close reception). I find it odd that they only permit checkin during a small window of time despite the fact that the reception staff are there for a much longer period. Some rooms are quite small and some do not have a nice view.

Pros: I loved everything about this property- the location in Oberwesel was perfect for exploring this part of the Rhine. The hotel is just beautiful from the outside and perfectly located in the central Marktplatz. The owners make you feel so welcome and went out of their way with little extra’s like lunches and arranging a free train ticket. The room is huge with a full sitting room and a large bathroom. Bed was comfy and the room was air conditioned. Breakfast was served in the authentically maintained restaurant and included a great range of fresh breads, juices, coffee, yoghurt, cheeses and meat to go with your freshly boiled egg.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect!! The rooms were very spacious! The housekeeper did a great job! I love how you can sit in the backyard on chairs and relax!
Cons: The young man that works there was very condescending every time we encountered him, that was very disappointing! The rooms weren’t in the beautiful building that is in the picture, which I didn’t know, so that was disappointing, just for a minute. The rooms were pretty out dated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room itself was spacious with a lovely wide veranda ; the room was bright and modern ; the toilet / shower facilities were clean and modern ; the dining room was grand and well-appointed in a traditional Bavarian style.
Cons: There was no air conditioning— only one solidarity fan to cool you down. Needless to say, we had numerous cold showers to keep cool. Furthermore, the television was very limited with only German programmes— no English, which travellers from Australia was very limiting. Still we enjoyed the overall appeal of the accommodation.

Pros: The hotel is in a peaceful area. We had a large comfortable bed and a good shower. There was a large garden equipped with sun loungers and outdoor furniture where you could relax and read after a hard day's sightseeing and enjoy the lovely view. He also spoke fluent English.
Cons: The hotel is a little way outside of Oberwesel and uphill and although you could walk down to the town you really need a car to get you back up to the hotel unless you are very fit! We did not find this a problem as we were using our car anyway to visitl the other villages on the Rhine.

Pros: The location was amazing and the room was perfect for us. It is a beautiful, family-run hotel in the most incredible little town!
Cons: The stairs were a bit tough with all of our luggage and a stroller, but the hotel staff was so accommodating during the beautiful architecture was worth the stairs!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beyond Beautiful. Great Location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful bed and breakfast in the center of Bacharach. I stayed two nights. The room was modern and cozy. Some noise from the restaurants below drifted up, but all I had to do was close the windows - no noise because of extra panes. The breakfast was excellent. I’m gluten free, which can be difficult in Germany since bread is always part of the morning meal. Their buffet had fruits, meats, cheeses, and real scrambled eggs. Perfect location to to hike or bike one of the many trails or take a trip up or down the river. Small, picturesque, and way less touristy than Rudesheim!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully decorated hotel in a lovely quaint town.
Cons: The bathroom was nice but tiny.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I got a room with the best view of the town around with a balcony in flowers. Very romantic
Cons: Somewhat unpleasant smell of a detergent felt in the staircase, some people may dislike it, it was ok with me though
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was centrally located in the small town. My family was traveling with a group of 17 and there were plenty of rooms to accommodate all of us. Each room is set up a little different and were clean. I was able to book a room with a couch for one of my children to sleep on. Only one of my children could sleep on the couch as it was not a pullout. The breakfast was included with our stay and was good. Overall I thought it was a pleasant hotel to stay at and at great value especially with breakfast included.
Cons: We did have a little bit of a language barrier but manage to make it work.

Pros: The location was excellent in Bacharach. Hans set us up in a fantastic attic room that was huge with wonderful views.
Cons: We were lucky to have been a accommodated with another room for an extra night. The second room wasn't as nice though, and had uncomfortable bedding.

Pros: Only one minute from the Rhine, lovely terrace to enjoy meals and relax. Excellent customer service, good breakfast, value for money. Excellent centre for visiting other places of interest e.g. St Goar, Rudesheim, Boppard etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice Hotel close to the Rhine. Very Good Buffet breakfast and very nice evening meals.
Cons: Having to leave
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food in the cozy hotel restaurant. Really friendly welcome and most interesting to learn about the history of the hotel. Bed very comfortable.
Cons: Rather basic and bathroom in particular could do with modernisation. Breakfast was OK but not as good as dinner e.g. no fruit salad and fruit juice, croissants were not the greatest. Parking on main road quite close to hotel but well out of sight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The character combined with high quality of a long established family owned and run hotel. Run by owners who care. And dinner ( served in the pretty garden was excellent.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything was first-rate except for the wifi. The staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was hearty and tasty. We loved having the balcony over the stream on the north side and falling asleep to the sound of the rushing water. The house is very historic - the German national anthem was first sung here. Great location right near the walkable part of the city walls.
Cons: The wifi didn't reach up to the rooms on the 3rd floor. The shower doors were a bit old and squeaked loudly.
7.5 Good
Pros: Food and location
Cons: Lack of electric plugs
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Well located clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. On site restaurant and beer garden (not tried). Lifts
Cons: There was no one there when we arrived and a call needed to be made
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very friendly staff (especially the young man in the restaurant!!), extremely clean. Nice refurbished bathroom (with good lighting). Also a lovely breakfast!!
Cons: Strange smell in the hallway and a bit noisy. But those are only tiny inconveniences.

7.5 Good
Cons: I wish there were better pillows that suited both local and international tourists. We found it very hard to sleep with European style pillows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food quality. Room with fantastic view and love chef Charlie.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The food, comfy bed good shower
Cons: Train line just outside
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful with a great view of the river
Cons: All was great
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room(s) in tower. Actually it was 3 rooms on 3 levels. I liked it, nicely decorated. Warning: steep spiral staircase to the tower rooms and between tower rooms. A bit of a problem for luggage, but no big deal. Dinner was good to excellent. Breakfast was excellent. 3 rooms included 2 bedrooms. One bedroom had the shower, Landing of other bedroom had toilet with sink room, separate urinal room. Kitchenette, TV, couches & tables on 3rd floor.
Cons: To me internet is a CRITICAL component of a good stay. The hotel provided a computer in our tower rooms. BUT internet in the tower is non-existent, so you can't use the computer, nor your wifi cell phone. I would have rated hotel higher if the internet had been good. As it was I had to sit outside the entrance to the restaurant to view text and email.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly accommodating host with a room that had all amenities. Facilities including the restaurant were excellent. My challenge is the German style of double beds. Two twin beds pushed together does not make a double bed for a US person. The location by the river is nice but the proximity to the railway is not. Otherwise this is a 5 star hotel.
Cons: Twin beds and railway proximity to hotel.

Pros: Clean and good service!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely and comfortable room in former army barracks. Breakfast was excellent. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located outside of town. However, it was a pleasant walk at the end of our day's hike. Also the host was happy to drive us to dinner in town. Overall, it was an excellent experience and great value for money!
Cons: Location out of town is a bit of a challenge.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I couldn't get over how big the room was and it had everything you could need. Tea/coffee facilities, soaps, shampoo, moisturisers were all supplied. You could help yourself to beer and wine from the fridges and just pay at time of checkout. And while it wasn't mentioned in the hotel facilities the pool area should be finished and ready for guests any day now.
Cons: Not that we didn't like it just took a bit to get used to the fact it is located in a business park area. Not the normal location for accomodation but it worked fine.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a nice tiny garden we could reach from our terrace. Everything in the room was newly renovated. Vending machines with all you need. Parking lot just outside the hotel
Cons: The door and walls are absolutely not soundproof, you can hear everything little thing guests are saying in the hall way, I could even here the hydraulic system as in one room they were taking a shower. Also the beds were extremely squeaky. With every little movement you would hear a noise. So during the night I couldn’t sleep and in the morning I heard all the guests around. Needless to say I was not well rested
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent friendly staff, great breakfast.
Cons: Even though we had lovely evening meals in the locality, it would have been nice to eat in the hotel, but that's just a wish and not a necessity.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was great.
Cons: It was unbearablely hot in the rooms. We reserved 4 rooms months in advance. We were put on the top floor during a heat wave. There is no air conditioning and when you leave your room open on the balcony smoke from cigarettes float in from other the next rooms. I asked to change rooms immediately and they were rude and said no. The hotel was booked, but at breakfast there was only a hand full of guests. The swimming pool was nice to cool off but we were the only ones using it. Where were all the guests.? I think they only book a few people because of small staff. The photos on the internet looked better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The family room was amazing! It was two separate rooms complete with two beds for kids in the second room. The pool and sauna were also a very nice amenity that we took advantage of. Even my picky eating kids enjoyed the breakfast which was served in the nice restaurant in the hotel. There were so many choices of things like tea and honey. There was even a waffle station. I would highly recommend this hotel with kids.
Cons: The hotel is right across the street from the train tracks and even with the window and shutters closed you could still hear the train.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Air condition
9.5 Excellent

Pros: The town is absolutely quaint and historic. Dirk and his father were most hospitable. They were very helpful with our bikes, laundry and recommendations for restaurants. Our family suite was extremely spacious and super clean. The beds were comfortable and it was a refreshing treat to have a dip in the pool after a hot day of cycling. Their were lots of choice at breakfast. The location was perfect and the views from our suite were splendid!
Cons: Nothing. I would come again!

They also produce their own Weinbrand (=cognac). The hotel is several kilometres from Oberwesel in the hills above the Rhine. An excellent place to stay for touring the Middle Rhine. Visitors might ensure they buy a selection of the owners wines before they leave. We did!
Cons: Nothing!
