Great staff and well kept hotel Price, although this was partly because the Euro exchange rate makes it expensive for us to go to Germany at the moment
Great breakfast buffet. Restaurant service very good. Cordial and accommodating staff. Beautiful surroundings. Very limited hotel literature in English. Lack of English translations for room instructions, etc.
The staff was very accommodating, and I especially enjoyed the pool and saunas! The food at the buffet was very good. We were in the area to see the Passion Play, and the hotel was about 1/2 hour drive, other than that no complaints.
Extremely comfortable, more upmarket than my usual choice but chosen to stay with friends. Unfortunately a little far from Oberammergau. Would be nice for a relaxing holiday by lake with some walking. All printed information in rooms was in German. My German is limited and while it should not be necessary, these days it is usual to find English translations. Probably the hotel does not have a large non-German clientele except in Passion Play years. However the staff all spoke good English and were willing to help.
sauna and swimming pool are great The furniture in the holiday apartment was very old and/or very cheap. It was close to a parking place - too much noise.
Location, food, comfortable spacious bedroom, tastefully decorated throughout, easy parking. No direct access from reception to restaurant. No English translation of hotel information in folder in bedroom.
The town was lovely and the Church was spectacular. The hotel was in the middle of reservations and the receptionist directed us to our rooms as if there was access through these as normal. There wasn't. and when we got back to reception, there was no-one there. We wandered around for about 10 minuets until we met some workmen and they took pity on us. It was a trek into the next county to get to our room. This hotel is more like a nunnery or monastery than a hotel. Unable to use the Spa as it was closed. The breakfaast was sparse in the morning.
I stayed at the hotel last month, no issues using the VAT (19% tax savings form for the US Military). This time, the accountant wasn't there and the front desk staffed did not have a clue. Will have to drive to the local VAT office in Stuttgart and have them work the issue. As nice as the hotel was, and it was nice, made for a poor ending.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
The food was great and it was across the street from the Kloster Ettal - a monestary that brews some very fine beer.
hotel restaurant has very limited selection of meals ala card, breakfast was less than average
Swimming pool, sauna and the restaurant I was told, prior to making my reservation, that the hotel took the VAT forms (tax forms), at check out they did not (cost me an extra 45 euros). Makes hotel guest an unhappy camper.
The beautiful scenery. Using a key for locking/unlocking the room from the inside!. This is a safety issue. No one should ever have to use a key to get out of a room!
Friendly and courteous service of all members of staff, from the reception desk to the housekeeping staff. Hotel well-designed, clean and efficient.
Wonderful hotel -- very friendly with children -- I had my 10 year old granddaughter with me and she was well received and treated. I will return. I have already recommended it. No
The customer focus is exceptional; restaurant is excellent; and the facilities are first class plus.
This is a reasonably small hotel with rooms on three floors. All rooms clean and comfortable. The food was good, even for vegetarians and the locally brewed beer was delicious. The courtesy car was not always available but staff did cooperate. The pillows are synthetic but, for this class, should really be feather. That would also make it more comfortable. The unusual window to the bathroom is not for everybody and caused some inconvenience for our teenage children sharing one room. The beds are king size rather than twin, but are two full single mattresses.
Great location, beautiful rooms and bathroom. Received welcome drink and fruit bowl upon arrival. Fantastic.
Opening of breakfast should be earlier than 0700 and the sauna should be longer open than 1900.
Very nice hotel staff. The breakfast was outstanding. Without a doubt the best hotel in the area. It was not possible to lower the room temperature during the night. We stayed four nights, and the temperature stayed at 23 degrees C the whole time, even if we set the temperature to 18 degrees. That is not good enough for a five star hotel. A hotel of this standard should have 2 racks for suitcases in the double rooms.
Lack of a relaxing lounge area with comfy armchairs
Best hotel I ever stay. Nice welcome drink in the room with small apetiser. Free parking with valet service. best restaurant in the town with home brewed beer. Order made breakfast. Very kind hotel staff.
Everything! The excellent service, the design, the luxury and the quality furniture of the room & bath, the wonderful view from the room, the fine bedlinen & bath facilities, the stereo and TV, even the high quality of the material of the switches! The atmospheric restaurant with bier! A really high class Hotel! Absolutely nothing! It cannot be improved!
Great breakfast, perfect location...a must stay and will do so again.
The charming welcome letter and fruit plate that was presented shortly after arrival. Immaculately clean room with great view, adjoining balcony, free, easy wi-fi access, friendly and eager-to-please staff, location, in house bar and restaurant, lovely dining and lobby rooms. Our room was recently remodeled and we had plenty of space to spread out -- desk area, several chairs, a small table, etc. We had a most enjoyable stay and thought it was a great value for the price. Meals were good but breakfast buffet was not as lavish or tasty as many others we enjoyed at several other hotels throughout Bavaria.
friendly staff Shower leaked onto the floor
The Hotel was in a superb location and the views were very impressive. It was an extremely friendly enviroment and the staff was excellant in taking care of your needs. The food was very good, Breakfast was fine but the Dinners was lovely
The courtesy and professionalism of the staff and the delicious food.
The staff were attentive and efficient, and the rooms were quiet and clean.
Friendly & Helpful Staff. Spacious Room, Great food.
Loved the staff. It was super clean. Very accommodating to families. Beautiful setting. Very peaceful and quiet.
Staff was great and opportunity for the great Dinner Buffet was too good to pass up.
It was the only moderately priced hotel within an hour of Munich during Octoberfest that I could find .. we are grateful that your website made it available to us. But we were using it as the first hotel on our European leg and after travelling all night, it would have been good to know that this hotel is a 15 - 20 minute cab ride from the train station, and it's a tiny station in the middle of nowhere; cabs are not always available .... we were lucky, but others weren't. Distance from train station.
They are good hotel. My worst experience ever. I stayed in the room 205 and I was bit by bed bugs. Even now, almost one month after my stay I still have marks on my hands. http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef636.asp
Free access for internet connection and wireless available.
Love this hotel- we will be back. Very clean and very friendly.
The hotel is charming, the restaurant is very good, the rooms are comfortable, and quiet.
Very close to the NATO School in O'Gau. Friendly staff. The one thing I didn't like was that the two restaurants in the Arnika were both closed for the period of my stay. Normally I avoid hotel restaurants, but I'll make an exception for the schnitzels in the Arnika. According to the notice, the restaurants should re-open today, but that's a bit late.
We found it very homely and you all made us feel very welcome Well done... many thanks to the chief for a wonderful Christmas dinner
very nice and quiet hotel, nice place, free Wifi second door between hall and bedroom in hotel room and too noisy construction of floors, made of wood
Friendly staff, family atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms.
The best hotel in my opinion for the NATO school students. Only 10 minutes walk from the NATO school and not far from the town center. Friendly personnel, very clean room, excellent breakfast and dinner.
the typical bavarian style and the view from my room
Excellent location in town center, staff, and facilities. I had not stayed there since 1988 and it is still excellent.
A nice hotel in a charming place, near to the city center. Parking is on the street with a parking park of the hotel, free of charge.
Our 2nd stay here. Just as excellent as the first time! I would highly recommend for families with strollers as the have a lift.
Hotel staff extremely friendly, speaks good English, and very helpful throughout the stay. Hotel is centrally located in Oberammergau with easy walking access to many restaurants.
Very good service, very good value for money, Rooms are nice and comfort but simple, 45 min drive to the ski site
This hotel was located right in the heart of Oberammergau and surrounded with lots of cafes and shops. While the building is several hundred years old, the interior has been updated beautifully and everything (bedding, carpet, furniture) is fresh and very clean. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the square. The bathroom was completely up-to-date and even included a receptacle wired for 120V with a US-style socket. Parking passes were provided by the hotel and we had no problem finding a spot right around the side of the building. All in all, this is just the right combination of cozy and historic with modern conveniences at a very reasonable price.
Location and friendly staff. N/A
Huge room with balcony and tub. Probably the biggest room I've seen in Europe so far. Staff was excellent and very nice and lent me an outlet adapter when I asked where I might purchase one. Big great breakfast.
Nice room; nothing fancy, but certainly nothing to complain about. The woman who operates this B&B is incredibly friendly and personable. She provided a fabulous breakfast. That we didn't stay multiple nights ;-) Really, there are no complaints that I can think of.
The staff (Mr. and Mrs. Richter) were exceptionally friendly. Always ready with information and service with a smile.
The view from the window was magnificent. The room and the bathroom facilities were very good. Breakfast was very fresh, a lot of it and, generally speaking, extraordinary. Our host was welcoming, very caring and nice.
Wonderful people running a wonderful house that almost feels like you are visiting family, rather than staying in a strange room.
The warm welcome, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner - she couldn't do enough for for her guests and - as others have said - the fantastic breakfast of course.
The staff was wonderful - very helpful and kind. The breakfast buffet, which was included with the stay, was delicious, plentiful, and included many locally produced foods.
This place is terrific!!! Mrs. Richter treats you like you are part of her family. The rooms were awesome, the breakfast she prepares is fabulous! I could move into the Richter Gaestehaus in a minute!
the personal attention of Mrs Richter, the extended breakfast and the magnificant view
Owner was extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was wonderful- full of fresh ingredients and local produce. Location was within easy walk of important sights in Oberammergau. no
Gaestehaus Richter met our needs perfectly. Our room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast offered a wonderful variety of healthy choices, and Mrs. Paula Richter looked after all our needs when we arrived tired and weary from our oversea flight. The location is ideal for the Passion Play currently happening in Oberammergau. We would definitely stay here again on a return visit.
Owner - Paula- was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Location was excellent- close to train station and town. I would definitely stay here again.
Over all the cleaniness and facilities. no
Clean and comfortable accommodations with a welcoming staff, a nice place to relax in a laid back atmosphere. Our friends have two young children and the family suite with pull out couch worked great for them. The patios off the ground level were made private by a little wall, but were not completely enclosed so we could visit outside with our friends staying the next room.
Wonderful place! very beautifull surroundings, very nice staff. perfect for a few days of rest in a quiet and cosy place in Alps
Resturant hardly had any food, had to find fod at other places
Clean, good facilities including kitchen with utensils, toaster, oven, electric hobs. Swimming, sauna, excellent value for money. Free parking. We booked the holiday rooms. These are practically suites! Friendly staff. Shower curtains needed for the bathtub. The water spills into the floor.
Just one night stopover en-route to Eastern Europe, but clean comfortable room & facilities and excellent continental breakfast. Shame there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but this is no different from most Hotels I stayed in. (Think it's a "British" thing - we do like a caffine hit before breakfast!)
Beautiful location, staff was very friendly.
Friendliness and service of staff Cash only basis created problems
typical bavarian hotel - friendly staff and reasonably situated for the village
Swimming / Bathing facilities are really nice. Very quiet, nice staff. The location is quite pleasant, but requires transportation facilities (a bit far from Murnau and from the train stations). Nothing.
We booked the Guesthouse at first, which I can not recommend. It is 20 Euros cheaper then the hotel it self, but you really get downgraded. The bathroom reminded me at a bathroom in a ship and the rooms.... not cosy at all. The rooms smelled like food since the kitchen is right underneath the Guesthouse. We didn't like that. We changed into the hotel the very next morning. The room at the hotel was very cosy, the bathroom very nice and we even had a balcony with a beautiful view. Amazing what 20 Euros can do! Overall I can say that we liked the hotel and would go there again but only if we can book a room in the hotel itself and not in the Guesthouse.
Good hotel for a weekend, excelent view from the room, free parking places, free internet wi-fi, good place for nordic skiing and not far from Garmisch
All excellent, to include the food and the value.
The setting was outstanding, and view fantastic. The breakfast selection was adequate. It would have been nice if a selection of cut fruit were offered. Although the whole fruits were nice. The staff was very nice and friendly. There was no blowdryer in the room as show on the website. It was difficult to ask for one, as no one was available to help in the late afternoon or evening.
Location was excellent. The waiter at the hotel restaurant was horrible - inattentive, incompetent, and rude.
Gasthaus was very traditional, very nice, great location and scenery
We stayed at this hotel because they had triple rooms available and allowed pets. It was 20 minutes from Garmisch where we went snowboarding for the weekend. The hotel was located in a cute little town, however after 6pm the town didn't offer much to do except eat. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and gave suggestions about what to do. The road leading up to the hotel was snow and ice covered and very narrow. We were trapped when a Jeep was coming down the hill as we began to go up the hill. The first morning the water in the shower was barely luke warm, made for an unpleasant shower. The problem was remedied by that evening however and we enjoyed steaming hot showers the remainder of our trip.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. They accommodated all our needs and were extremely patient with the language differences. The location and scenery was breathtaking.
nothing the hotel was over booked and moved us to another hotel that was not very nice at all.
spectacular view no bar
service i've seen better breakfast arrangements, in the region
Very nice room, great spa & wellness facilities, good breakfast, very close to ski resort. Far from train or bus station. English information does not exist at all. Movies on tv only in German.
the staff was freindly, the room was excellent
Fantastic mountain view from this hotel, clean comfortable rooms, excellent food, very attentive staff, great pool, good exercise room and spa facilities. lack of air conditioning, but common in this region.
The restaurant staff provided very friendly and efficient service and the front desk personnel were helpful in arranging an additional nights stay to my reservation. My room provided a nice balcony and view of the Bavarian Alps. The breakfast had a great variety but had I known it was going to cost 14 euro I would have eaten more. Spa services should also have phamplets in English.
Good location, really nice village, good restaurants etc We liked everything
The front manager was extremely helpful and informative during our stay. Nothing. It was a good experience.
Owner was very pleasant and spoke good English, making it very easy to communicate. Quiet and very scenic location. Hotel was spotless, very clean and well-kept. Beds were a little too hard... Top sheets would be nice too; though in Europe it is common to not supply top sheets...
The staff was most helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and v ery clean. We came by train and were about 200 meters from hotel. We were very conveniant--maybe 200 meters from the main street. I would not be afraid to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Location was great - only 5 minute walk into main part of town. Skimpy on breakfast buffet; bed was too hard.
Staff, breakfast, location. A very beautiful place.
Hotel was great in every point of view. Room was comfortable, very clean. Balcony was also big and looking at mountains and forest. Breakfast was delicious. Anyone who wants to visit Bavarian castles and small towns in this area should stay in this hotel in Oberammergau.
The hostess was very helpful. The hotel was clean and had a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The beds were a bit too soft for my liking
The Restaurant was great. Staff were very helpful. The size of the room. The fact the price was higher than their regular rate due to a Trade Show going on in Munich.
The lady who seemed ot be only person running the hotel was very efficient in doing her business. The hotel location and its general atomosphere were also very good.
Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were given a tour as soon as we arrived and allowed to use all the spa facilities whenever we wanted. The entire staff spoke English, and they were willing to take the time to translate things for us. They always had helpful tips and aided us with our adventures. They helped us buy tickets for the Passion Play, helped us find authentic local restaurants, made us bagged lunches for our visit to the castle, and provided directions and supplies for our hike thru the mountains. Included in our stay was an excellent breakfast buffet with fresh ingredients and surprises every morning. The main draw of this hotel was its world class dinners. There was always a distinctly German fare with a gourmet twist and delicious local beers (sometimes on the house) to round out the meal. Our first time to Germany Das Johannesbad made us feel right at home. Parking. Later in our stay we found an auxilary lot around the side, about 200 meters away. This alleviated the problem.
