8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast selection and big clean and well appointed room , close to town and restaurants. All hotel is spotless and good underground parking.
Cons: Seems odd that the reception is closed quite early so you cant get a drink or anything after 8 or 9am. Outside are bars etc so not much of an issue . Hotel is modern and I just expected it would have 24hr reception
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fantastic new hotel in the area with air conditioning for those hot summers. The hotel is beautifully decorated and modern. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the large buffet breakfast is excellent!! We choose a room with a balcony and it was a nice place to relax in the morning or in the evening. They did not have an iron in the room, but we were able to borrow one from reception and they also have a room where you can buy cold drinks from a dispenser and snacks when the reception is closed. The underground parking is also a great reason to book this hotel as street parking is very hard to find here. The hotel is very safe at night with electronic key access. We will definitely return to this hotel.
Cons: Nothing to fault in this great hotel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms and bathroom was super. The hotel is ideally located and the staff are all so friendly and kind. Also, there is on site parking.
Cons: There was nothing not to like. A very good hotel.

Pros: The balcony, room size, air conditioning, breakfast,
Cons: Can’t think of anything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, great choice and varied food options, wonderful service and buffet was replenished up to closing time. We could even make our own waffles!
Cons: Considering the quality of the breakfast we really missed the opportunity to have dinner at this venue. The reception closes at 20:00 and of course there are other options around town, we would prefer a dinner option at the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable room .
Cons: View

Weinhotel Schmitz-Bergweiler - Bernkastel-Kues - Building

9.3 Excellent (271 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Bernkastel-Kues, Weinhotel Schmitz-Bergweiler is within a 15-minute walk of Landshut Castle and Winery Dr. Loosen. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Convient location in the center of the old part of Bernkastel-Kues, very good breakfast buffet, nice staff. Hotel new build and very clean , vinothek, where you can bring a bottle to drink in the room or on the roof terrace.
Cons: Would be good with some sunshield on the roof, parasoll or similar.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the middle of the old town which sells wine by the glass and the bottle. Comprehensive breakfast. Staff were very helpful especially over public car parking and choice of good restaurants in the town. A very useful place in the middle of the Mosel to taste and buy wine from nearby vineyards. Couldn't really fault anything.
Cons: I didn't realise that driving to the gasthaus in the middle of the day would be extremely difficult because of tourists. We therefore had to drag some very heavy cases about 300m up the hill from the public car park. My fault - but a warning on the web site would help.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The very spacious and comfortable room, the roof terrace, the location right in the heart of Bernkastel, the tasty breakfast, the privacy and silence.
Cons: The fact that the hotel didn’t have their own parking space, could be experienced as a downside. The public Mosel parking is however only a 5 minute walk away, so it was no problem for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet room in great location Absolutely sparkling clean & comfortable
Cons: We couldn’t stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great place for couples with a wine room downstairs and terrace on the roof. In walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and the river.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room, spotlessly clean, all you need in room, could benefit from AC as it was very hot when we were there so had to leave windows open and was a bit noisy in the morning being in the centre, excellent restaurants nearby, overall very nice stay.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Beautiful room. Tastefully decorated.
Cons: Breakfast was very good but same every day
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, lots of space, clean and fresh. Very good breakfast. Charming vinoteka.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely landlady, she let me use her garage to park my motorcycle overnight.
Cons: Please note that they do not take any credit cards only cash. This caught me out. I had to ride 3 Miles to a cash machine!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom looked dated but were perfectly maintained and spotless, so lets call it "retro". Kathi was an extremely good hostess. Breakfast was one of the best we've had.
Cons: It's in one of the quieter Mosel towns, with few places to eat and little to do.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very nice and friendly owner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kathi is a lovely personable lady who would do anything to make her guests welcome and comfortable. She insisted on us using her secure garage which was much appreciated. Room was spacious and full of character. Breakfast was excellent with both a wide choice and freshly cooked eggs etc. This guesthouse is superbly located in the Mosel valley yet provides both character and exceptional value for money
Cons: Having to leave after only one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is completely amazing and we had a very comfortable stay. It’s a little bit as if you went to visit a sweet family member who takes care of you and makes you feel at home. Great value for money!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful property (it was so cool staying at a winery!), quiet location far enough away from the touristy town of Bernkastel, but close enough to quickly get to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, picturesque and quite location just a minutes away from town. Breakfast on the terrace by Mosel river makes your day! Family Prüm, hosts and owners, made our stay just super and tasting of elegant Prüm wines with Raimund was unforgettable, one of the best we ever had.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view of the Mosel from the front porch of the old building where breakfast is served.
Cons: The hotel rooms are not in the lovely old building that faces the Mosel. Instead, they are in a more modern, separate, structure that is behind the main building. Our room's view of the river was blocked by an overgrown bush and tree. The staff, while polite, never made you feel like they were glad to have you as a guest. They went home at 5:30 pm and if they were there in the morning in the office adjacent to the rooms, they kept their backs to you most of the time. I wouldn't stay there again though I think their location is marvelous though miles from Bernkastel itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Being at a quiet individual winery. Having the chance to meet the owner, and or the wine maker.
Cons: It is quiet and you are at an individual winery. If that is not what you want, if you want to be in a village. This is not for you
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Just a wonderful place with the nicest staff and beautiful soroundings. And our dog was just as welcome as we were.
Cons: There was no real air condition, and with 40 degrees C outside you need an AC.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room. We liked walking along the river. Lots of great wineries for tastings!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff. Lots of care taken to meet high level of comfort. Excellent room, lots of space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great, just what we needed for our break.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at the winery. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of options. Our room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We found all staff members friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a wine tasting with Saskia as well as meeting her father, Raimund. We were able to rent bicycles in town very affordably which added to our trip. You will need to drive or cycle (only a few kilometers) to a neighboring town for dinner as there are very few choices near the winery. All in all, a great place to relax!
6.7 Good
Pros: Extremely spacious, well appointed, comfortable rooms.
Cons: Breakfast could have had both greater variety and quantities.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was great. Being almost of the river with picturesque villages surrounding it
Cons: The owner was not very friendly and breakdowns in service (TV and Internet) were not attended to before we left.
7.0 Good
Pros: spacious, bright room, with Danish influence in design; lovely location along the Mosel river; breakfast was ok, although it could use more variety; very efficient staff; good starting point to visit around (Burg Thurant was a charming and less touristic experience).
Cons: pillows; internet access
6.0 Good
Pros: Charming little property with large rooms. Nice breakfast spread. No kettle in room but provided on request. Would stay here again if returning to area.
Cons: Internet access, and a self-serve laundry would be nice. No air-conditioning, so may not be appropriate in summer (was fine for October though).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms, the location of the hotel, and the guest services
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - the quality of the fittings, the huge bed, the bathroom, the size of the room, the warmth etc etc. And the breakfast was excellent too.
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: peaceful and very beautiful location, wonderful, big rooms
Cons: no
7.2 Good
Pros: The Manager was very friendly and cheerful. The surroundings are stunning as is the building.
Cons: Could do with a few signposts around the place directing us where to go - we went to a few places before finally finding Reception via the back door. Although we had been told where to go for breakfast, again, we had to ask how to access it. Just a few clear signposts would have helped. Other than that, couldn't fault it and would highly recommend it and come back again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very large and comfortaable room
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for a trip up the Mosel valley and the hotel was excellent. Just wish we had more time on the trip to linger.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel right in the centre of town. Has recently been renovated and, it seems, no expense spared. Stefanie, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgable - she suggested an excellent and much better way of getting to our next destination.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very central
Cons: Room was camped and over the kitchen.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were lovey and gracious. And their fried eggs were scrumptious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Not exactly home-made or special, but nice and filling. Rooms were clean, modern and newly furnished.
Cons: Guest rooms are located on the third floor of a historic building. There is a steep circular stairway up to the rooms. No elevator. Definitely not advisable for elderly or disabled guests. We are neither; still we found it very uncomfortable. Room "Andalucia" is facing to a small dark backyard and there was some kitchen ventilation system right next to the room window. Noise and cooking smells guaranteed. Perhaps there are better rooms, but we weren't that lucky. Car parking is a challenge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very helpful family that owned the place. Very clean and nice.
Cons: No air conditioner but you don’t necessarily need it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly owners and staff, great location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very friendly. When arriving they came out to greet us and helped us with luggage. Also, we had told them it was my wife's and I 30th anniversary. When we got to our room they had put silk rose pedals all over the bed to create a very nice touch to the room when you initially entered.
Cons: Parking about 3-4 blocks away but that is to be expected in Bernkastel-Kues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was wonderful. They provided great recommendations for things to do in the area. Couldn't ask for a better location. The breakfast was probably the best I've had at any hotel in Germany.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Its right in the middle of the beautiful town under the famous vineyard. Staff were excellent and very welcoming. The room was large and comfortable- we had the champagne room. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Arrival by car followed a rather long winded route and we had to ease through crowds of people at the end.
Hotel Doctor Weinstube - Bernkastel-Kues - Building
6
9.0 Excellent (813 reviews)

Located in Bernkastel-Kues, Hotel Doctor Weinstube is in the historical district, within a 15-minute walk of Landshut Castle and Winery Dr. Loosen. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
5.4 Okay
Pros: It was close to the water and staff was friendly.
Cons: Rooms were too small for the amount of money we paid. No real air flow and on a noisy side street
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Characterful building great location
Cons: Breakfast was poor
6.3 Good
Cons: Very warm room and the discount ticket the hotel gave you when checking, that you had to pay 6 Euro for when checking out. It was in fact a city tax.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in old town! Loved the historic architecture!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. They ensured we had all of the information needed. The restaurant was also excellent for dinner and breakfast. The room was comfortable with enough room and we slept well on the bed. The pillows were big and soft. The bathroom was also spacious. We were pleased to see a renovated room with modern style and furniture.
Cons: The only thing we did not like was the lack of air conditioning. However, it wasn't really needed with the cooler temperatures. Also, keep in mind that air conditioning is not common in Germany and especially in this region and in this type of hotel. In no way did it make the experience less enjoyable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel in the great location and even with elevator. We parked by the river, hotel was 5 mins walk from there, so parking was not an issue. Breakfast was OK, we did not have a chance to try dinner.
Cons: The biggest inconvenience - Wi-Fi did not work in the room. I usually have to work in the evenings, so I had to come down to be able to connect to the Internet.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Handsome room. Fan in room appreciated greatly.
Cons: Being told we had to leave terrace below rooms at 22:00. Hot night to go to our room so soon after dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food great. Staff friendly and helpful. Stay wonderful. Also have lift, so no stairs at least to our room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely unique/historical building added to the charm.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very fine location in the centre of the old town. Very nice internal decoration in the reception and the restaurant. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Everything was very fine except that you have to park on the parking lot near the river (100 m and carry your luggage) and that the stairs are difficult from 4th to 5th floor.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Conveniently located guesthouse, just north of the cute old town of Bernkastel, and on a quiet street. Would happily recommend this place.
Cons: Getting the car in and out of the guesthouse's car park up the road is not for the faint-hearted struggling with their hire car. Plenty of restaurants to walk to, including the guesthouse's own.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice clean room with a lovely view of the street
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room
Cons: No elevator for third flour
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location and breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Food, location
Cons: Stairs a bit tricky, no tea/coffee making facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation delighted us. We selected it because a previous review had mentioned bike storage. The instructions for the key and our room were exact. Bikes stored in an amazing cave and our 'room' was actually 3: large bedroom, lounge and excellent shower room. All were spotless and modern. Our rooms were at the back of the building and therefore against the hill behind. There was no view but a tiny outside seating area which was almost part of the rock. The location in the old town was very convenient and quiet. Breakfast selection was comprehensive. Would definitely return and recommend.
Cons: No dislikes
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, caroark was nearbt, very clean and quiet, perfect!
7.1 Good
Pros: The location of the Gästehaus is excellent. Big rooms and big bathroom. Rooms are very clean. Parking was available, although located a couple of 100 meters from the Gästehaus.
Cons: No A/C nor a fan in the room. Rooms very basic and no charm at all. Breakfast is way under "normal standard" for Germany. Breakfast bread probably from Aldi or Lidl ? Youghurt selection poor and the "fresh bananas" were brown.

Pros: Great pension. Cleanest room I have find in my travel trough the Mosel. Best mattress and best coffee... and a delicoius breakfast with hausmade mermelade. They are really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about my stay. I prefer staying at guest houses where I can meet and talk to those running them. It was really good at Moselblümchen - there was a lively sense of humour, the breakfasts were great and the home made jams were brilliant.
Cons: I liked everything and the whole experience was very enjoyable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The personal is friendly, helpful, funny and seems like they do like what they do here. The room (8) is not the most fashionable one, but it’s all along clean and functional. The bed is comfy and the breakfast is very well and unsurprisingly not vegan-friendly. The location is perfect for any trekking or biking plan.
Cons: No double bed. No fresh fruit on breakfast. And coffee is too much roasted, definitely not the best quality.

Pros: This was a lovely hotel, the rooms have been refurbished and are quite modern. The beds were comfy and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The wine they served was good and location was also great, it a short walk over the river to get to the old town.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow! What a great place... I’ve stayed in some great hotels over the years and this is right up there with the best. The staff, decor and rooms are excellent. The evening meal served in a lovely courtyard was superb and the locally produced wine is a must. Parking was easy behind the hotel. The breakfast was also excellent with a wide variety of meats, fruit and pastries.
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff, nice room and bathroom. Superb breakfast with nice cheese and meats. Importantly private parking there as everything is within walking distance
Cons: Nothing It’s not a complaint but a slight warning. The restaurant is separate from the hotel but we didn’t realise that, so after the meal we went for a walk thinking it went on the room. They were really nice about it though when I paid. Having said that the meal was one of the nicest we had on holiday
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent staff - great breakfast -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, professional and helpful staff. Quiet location even though close to centre of town. Nice restaurant. Good parking lot.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The lady at the reception was very helpful
Cons: They don’t provide breakfast before 8 o’clock If traveling to Hahn airport just travel from main Frankfurt city with a bus instead of spending a night in this town as there are no buses to go to Hahn airport only taxis which costs around 90 euros. It also takes hours by train to come to this city
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I like everything! Excellent location, very friendly people working there, perfect breakfast, clean room, parking facility...
Cons: I missed at least some channels on TV speaking other language than German :-) and menu in restaurant also translated at least to English. ...

The village is beautiful and a classic Mosel wine village. The restaurant is very good and wine selection s amazing. the owner is engaged in all activities and checked us in. Pros: Very warm welcome when we arrived. Parking places just outside the building. Room was cozy and medium in size. TV in the room with Netflix. Nice toiletries and a rather large bathroom with a good shower. The breakfast was good and they cooked the eggs after order. 10-15 min walk to the town center. All in all a good experience and would reccommend this hotel :)
Cons: No aircondition but there was a fan which helped alot. No elevator but they do have some rooms on the ground floor.

Pros: Nice breakfast, cheap parking €5 for 3 days, location.
Cons: No air conditioning. Floor creaked badly. Missing lat in the bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good clean room so well located :)
Cons: Maybe the fact that they put your roomnumber on the table int the breakfast. You can end up in the bakery, but that is just a minor issue :)
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The Breakfast was miserable. We had to sit at a table with no comfort right next to the buffet in a very hot corner. It was in a cafe with very bad service and a lusy breakfast with old bread. There was no aircondition in the hotel and the room was so hot, that it wasn' t possible to sleep - It was like an oven. You couldn' t open the window because there was a very traffic road downunder. The refrigerator did not work and there was no electric kettle. The hotel was next to a building ground and the end of the building was under repair. This hotel is without any charm and i will never come back again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine. A plus was the fact that the breakfast place also was available in the day for other meals.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room overlooking the Mosel River
Cons: Mixed feelings about the staff. Gentleman who booked us in told us to come back in 2 hours an hour after check in and didn’t book us in For breakfast. Lady on duty when we can back saw we were Checked I. And didn’t understand why we had no key she was lovely despite our language difficulties. My guess is the chap who “booked” us I. Was going off duty and could not be bothered. Otherwise lovely stay

7.9 Good
Pros: We appreciated most the comfort of the beds and the jacuzzi in the room.
Cons: The breakfast is ok, but nothing special for such a pricey 4-star hotel. The fact that there is no reception after 18:00 is quite a joke really.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Theme rooms

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Room was large, clean, very comfortable. The bathroom was also very nice. WiFi worked well and the staff was very helpful. The included breakfast was great. Highly recommend this property.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Super location.Good personal.I think the best food in Bernkastel.
7.1 Good
Pros: You can’t get a more central location!
Cons: The rooms especially the bathrooms need attention. Old and worn out.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location in the centre of Bernkastel was excellent. Close to the centre and the river.
Cons: The receptionist could have been more welcoming. Okay we had a language barrier yet a smile would have been something. It was very much there's your key and your room number. Breakfast the following morning was quite poor . The milk for the cereal had run out yet when I pointed this out to the member of staff I was ignored. Compared to three other venues we visited that week in Belgium and Holland the service level and ambience was poor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, great location, good restaurant.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely old fashioned decor and furniture. Excellent situation. Good breakfast and dinner.
Cons: Our room was in an adjoining building connected by a bridge. This meant that we had no wifi access.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: have stayed there many times - superb !!!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location Rooms exceptional Staff friendly attentive and knowledgeable Food very good
Cons: Lack of a lift (But understandable considering the age of the building).
7.5 Good
Pros: Very good restaurant in the hotel. Efficient staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is very central - on one of the most attractive squares facing the Mosel. Comfortable if basic, typically traditional, Germanic establishment. No frills but ideal for my needs. Good, hearty food at both breakfast and dinner.
Cons: Not a 24 hour reception at such a small establishment, so the request for ETA is valid. You can't drive up to the property, so be aware that parking is on the riverside public space. It is free though. Typically for an older property - it isn't ideal for mobility challenged guests. Don't dilly dally with choosing where to eat - restaurant last orders are 8.30!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and the breakfast.
Cons: Although the rooms were non smoking the bar downstairs was not and the smoke drifted upstairs to our rooms. The second of the two rooms reserved had only a bath with no curtain and a low ceiling over the bath making it difficult to bath. WiFi was limited to 10 feet from the reception desk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is classic and beautifully appointed. Actually much prettier than the photo! Full of fresh flower boxes and very beautiful to walk into. Really nice family room, very clean and welcoming.
Cons: Beds were too hard for my taste. Check in rules very strict at 2 pm with no exceptions. Seemed a bit harsh on a quiet off season weekend, but okay.
