No directions to room when finally found where to check in. Most restaurants were closed. Others very slow with long lines. The elevator squeaked and kept us awake all night. Other elevator was not functioning. One lamp in room was broken. The windows were filthy so hard to see out. Bed was made incorrectly with top sheet on top of blanket (went bottom sheet, blanket, top sheet so skin to blanket). Seemed to be on last legs as a property.

Cons. I had to request our room to be cleaned so we could take a shower at 2:3o p.m. The rooms are so thin that sleeping is impossible, you can hear everything going on in the hallways at 1:00 a.m. Not everyone wants to gamble 24/7. The selection of restaurants was very minimal and the prices were more than I was willing to pay for the quality of food.

Pros. The location..

Cons. It was dirty. One room had stuff oozing from the wall. The other room that I had, had blood on the wall. The staff was grumpy, there was no amenities, everything in the room was broken, no hot water, and no room service. If you stay in Black Hawk stay some place else.

Cons. Towels were dirty. Shower curtain contained disgusting stain which means it had not been changed from the previous guest.

Pros. Staff was nice and responsive to our requests.

Cons. Bed not comfortable. Road noise. Slow to make up room (we left mid-morning, returned late afternoon and room was still not cleaned). Missing room amenities like ice bucket, do not disturb sign, in-room safe locked and took maintenance some time to finally get open/working. Food in BBQ restaurant was not hot. Prime Rib sandwich in Tradewinds cafe was tasteless. Will probably stay at Ameristar Hotel next time even though it is a bit more expensive. Had good breakfasts there and seemed like a more upscale property.

Pros. Overall, not bad.

Cons. Painful check-in process. Receptionist very flustered and did not seem to know what she was doing. Room key card did not work. Showers were luke warm at best. No laundry bag provided.

Pros. Ease of check in

Cons. One staffer - Lawrence - ruined the whole experience by himself. My friends and I went to celebrate my birthday, collectively spending in excess of $3000 between Lady Luck and their sister location, Isle of Capri. Lawrence is a floor manager at Lady Luck. He spoke to and treated us as though we were 4 year olds. There are many choices for hotels in that area and the next time I take a group of friends up there, we will choose somewhere else because of our experiences with Lawrence.
