The essence of the Maldives is defined at Baros Maldives. A small coral island ringed by golden sand and a thriving house reef set in a
shimmering blue lagoon. Lush with mature palm trees and brilliant tropical vegetation, this island is perfect for a peaceful vacation in
a private Beach or Water Villa of elegance and style.
The first sight of Baros Maldives is of the white pinnacle roof of the resort’s iconic Lighthouse. Palm-thatched roofs of the Guest Villas peek from verdant foliage. The wooden landing jetty leads to a grand gazebo housing the Welcome Pavilion.
All 75 Villas, beachside or overwater, are elegantly designed with sandstone and timber, have fine furnishings, large windows to let in natural light, and are timeless in ambience. As well as having a private veranda deck with sunloungers and a teak dining table for two, each Villa has a spacious, teak-floored bedroom featuring a king-sized bed with soft cotton sheets and plump pillows, as well as a vanity counter and a large sofa or daybed.
Located only 20 minutes by speedboat, northwest of the Malé International Airport, Baros Maldives is close enough for convenient transfers 24/7 but worlds away from day-to-day life. The Baros Maldives experience begins with a warm welcome outside the airport arrivals hall, by a resort host who accompanies guests to one of the Baros Maldives speedboats for a scenic cruise to the resort.

Cons: The cleaning staff did not do a good job. They do not clean very well

Pros: This hotel thought about everything you would ever want staying at a resort and was phenomenal when it came to spoiling us as a young couple on a honeymoon. Great romantic settings (dinner in the middle of the ocean is worth the $1100). Clean waters, lagoon villas are clean and well designed for comfort. Very friends staff and accommodating. Spa was also a wonderfully relaxing experience!
Cons: Just 1 downside. We saw one strand of seaweed in the clear waters lol
This Emboodhu Finolhu resort is on the waterfront and is set on its own private white sand beach within easy reach of Embudu Beach. Area attractions also include Vadoo Beach and Rasmee Dhandu Stadium.
Pros: Loved the rooms. We stayed in Overwater Bungalow. Cozy and comfortable. Loved everything about it: Bed, Sofa, Terrace, Bathroom, amenities, access to the water. Amazing place! The service is ridiculous in the best sense. People are extremely friendly, always willing to assist and help with just about any request. Staff really elevates the experience. Some will even have those small spontaneous details that make the experience memorable. Loved the Thai Restaurant. It was the only restaurant we went to twice during our stay. It is just fantastic, both the food as well as the service. Beaches are just beautiful. Real paradise. I believe the hotel offers an exceptional service, so it is good value for the money. Transfer from the airport is one of the cheapest you will find in most high-end resorts in Maldives as well. We hope we can return in the future for wedding anniversary or similar. I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
Cons: Food and drinks are pricey, no doubt. Can this be changed? Maybe not. Extras can be pricey too, especially massages. I took a beginners surfing session and if you make it an hourly rate, for general public 100$/hr surfing session, including an awesome ride to the surf break on a nice boat may seem too expensive. I think it is not that expensive (not really a negative point, but something they could improve and get more clients if prices went down a bit). Surfing (or just trying) is just a lot of fun. Now, 200+ $ for 1hr massage session, this I think is too expensive. Other extras were just too outrageous I don't even remember the numbers (swimming with whale shark, charged as a trip to the moon).
And lastly, I think prices should be listed with the 10% service + 12% GST already included (this applies to everything: food, beverages, activities).

Pros: The resort is fantastic with a number of restaurants to select from. The food is very well labeled for those with allergies. This is a major issue for my wife when travelling and Kurumba made it very clear what she could and couldn't eat.
Cons: Everything is extremely expensive, which is pretty standard for the Maldives, but Kurumba was on the expensive side.

Cons: Lack of Nightley activities.
Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru began to welcome guests on the shores of its home atoll in 1995. With its breezy tropical aura and playful air of carefree abandon, the resort is today recognised as an ultimate hideaway offering peaceful seclusion.
Pros: The activities. Dive center. Over water pool villa. Beautiful lagoon. Kids club. Free lunch for kids at the pool. The main pool area. Nanny service. Perfect family resort.
Cons: Service was inconsistent and slow at times. Also Buggy service was slow or unavailable a few times. Food quality can be improved especially for that price. Cocktails at Aqua bar not the quality I expected. Very slow Wifi...enough for emails and browsing but if you're a heavy social media user then better to get a sim card from the airport at arrival.
