friendliness of staff
Lovely welcoming hotel. Clean and comfortable with very friendly staff. Ideal location. Lovely breakfast
The staff were lovely, friendly and extremely accommodating.
warm and friendly
Quiet location, and comfortable, clean room.
A well maintaned, nicely decorated, clean hotel with a homely atmosphere. The family run business is very welcoming and friendly. Meals are generous and nicely prepared. The hotel is set in an ideal location for touring Brixham, the surrounding area and South Devon. There was nothing to dislike.
It was a warm friendly hotel and ideally located for our short stay in the Torbay area. The local bus passes the door.
Staff were welcoming and the rooms very clean. Although near steam railway it was very quiet. The breakfast was excellent.
Cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
the friendly welcome and the spacious rom
The atmosphere in the bar in the evening was relaxing and Christmassy and the bar food and breakfast were excellent. The bar area could have been a bit warmer.
The staff were polite and extremely helpful. The hotel was comfortable although the lift was a little small.
The hotel staff were very helpful and polite and the hotel itself was very comfortable The room wasn't warm enough, neither was the water in the shower/bath, and I had terrible trouble parking near the hotel on the night I arrived, I assume due to a function there ?
Needed bedware changing , but otherwise perfect as above
General ambience and helpfulness of staff. The evening meal was of a particularly high standard. Too much chlorine in the swinning pool!
We enjoyed the dinner and the time afterwards in the bar. Team were very helpful. The heating in the bathroom was not up to what was needed during a cold spell. The room was furthest away from the centre.
Location and leisure facilities. The hotel could be so good, but misses the mark. Very slow service - poorly cooked food - expensive dinners for what was available - dirty crockery - wanted to charge for using the in-room safe
Very accessible None
We found it to be a high class hotel with very good buffet breakfasts and a wonderful view if the bay We found the hotel car park very dark and dingy
Breakfast was excellent and the view from the dining room was amazing. The staff were always on hand and very helpful.
Room was pleasant. Price: remarkable Breakfast: poor. Fresh fruit was soggy - appeared it had been chopped up the previoius day. Bread - likewise; limited choice. £7 to park the car!! General ambience was that of a hotel housing DSS folk.
The room was excellent with splendid views. The meals were good and the general service of the staff was good. I thought some of the prices for basics was a little excessive.
Check in was very easy. Staff very helpful. Altogether very enjoyable stay. We did not feel we should have to pay for parking in the hotel carpark. Our room was at the back and noisy. Bath was very small.
everything, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay it was very hot in the evenings, and the swimming pool was very busy in the afternoons when the schools finished
I had an amazing sea view which I was not expecting.
Clean and quiet for a large hotel At the cost per room, I would have expected WiFi to be included rather than £15 a day.
This was a great hotel my husband took me for my birthday and the staff made us so well come. We will look at going again very soon.
breakfast was great bit dissapointed with the size of the room and our view from the room was the car park
location and facilities are excelent. The sea view was fab. We had with us our grandaughter, who is a young baby , the staff were so helpful with her needs in the restaurant, i can highly recommend them. price of car park is expensive at £7 per night
The freindliness of the staff, the position overlooking the harbour and the general overall ambience of the hotel Obviously stairs could prove a problem for elderly people and should be pointed out at time of booking
Very professional friendly staff. Clean rooms. A stunning view - perfect location. Kettle flex was too short making it difficult to access fully the kettle, potentially increasing the risk of accident. Very basic room facilities such as drizzle single shower.
Very friendly and helpful staff.staff Room was a little cramped
Great location, lovely view of harbour No
Lovely view of the bay Hotel had a copy of my credit card details including security code number in full view for all staff.
very friendly and helpful staff, pleasant clean rooms, homely atmosphere and excellent breakfast! no
Helpful friendly staff. Great atmosphere, fantastic location! No carpark: but that's understandable, biven the location!
Breakfast was well catered with a large selection of cereals, juices and yoghurts to choose from as well as a cooked breakfast menu. Car Park was a short distance from the hotel and was unlit.
arriving late we were still welcomed and fed as though first in. because we live in the country, it was fairly noisy.
The hotel had an historic quirkiness, which was very appealing. The breakfast was excellent and the position of the hotel was certainly one of the best overlooking the harbour. The ability to use both the hotel bar - and the public bar which had live music was an asset.
would have liked a friendlier welcome, also, being shown to the room would have been a nice touch , as we went to the wrong floor initially, carrying suitcases up and down narrow flights of stairs was a pain !
Our 3rd visit; a cosy.welcoming and friendly place. Comfortable rooms, good food & a good "pubby" feel to the bar
I loved it's warm and worn old English feel and historic charm.
The comfort of our room was excellent but our friends said their bed had dips in each side and appeared old like the establishment. Thought the dining room for breakfast a little on the dismal side - could of done with more lighting
Helpful staff. Excellent food. A classy interesting hotel. We did not see any of the resident ghosts!!!
Location, food Sound insulation in room to adjoining guest room not so good
We loved the wonderful food they have a very talented Chef. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a nice warm welcoming atmosphere. Our room was disappointing, we felt that it needed some TLC and updating, it felt like a basic over flow room - simple things could have been done: - it would have been helpful to have placed a mirror on the wall or on the chest of drawers near a socket for when drying ones hair. An extra bedside table lamp would also have been helpful lighting was poor it meant that only my husband was able to see to read in bed
A truly lovely place to stay
Absolutely everything!!! (and no I am not connected to the hotel..)
Everything! The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and the owners wer lovely people.
Very relaxing and a very warm welcome - would recommend
Very nice and central location. Made to feel very welcome.
Peacefull and relaxing time in a beautiful, immaculate house. Attentive owners who care you have a good time.
We liked the fact that our hosts were friendly and helpful, the food wasdelicious and the rooms immaculate. As it is a smaller guest house, our hosts provided a service which was personal to them to which they can be proud of. we liked everything about the hotel.
Everything about the place was fantatstic and the owners were so attentive to our needs.
Graham and Tracy are the perfect hosts, we were made to feel 'at home' as soon as we arrived. Hotel and room beautifully decorated with tasteful furnishings and immaculately clean. Breakfasts are superb.
attractive comfortable surroundings.Good location.
The hospitatlity was wonderful as well as the food. The rooms were clean and well lit. Updated bathrooms en suite.
the room was wonderful and really comfortable
Friendly and helpful proprietors, clean, quiet, well-equipped comfortable rooms, superb breakfast, best hotel in this class we have experienced in many years No
staff very welcoming and friendly
friendly hosts clean very large room helen and phil could not do enough for you will be going back
Had a great weekend at this hotel - the room was fantastic, very comfortable and hotel was in a good location for the centre. Breakfast was yummy and we were made to feel very welcome. Will def be going back.
Would recormend Not the best shower & slow hot and cold water but not a reason to complain
We have just stayed for 5 nights at the Carlton Court Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The hosts Phil and Helen made us feel very welcome and they cant do enough for you. The breakfasts are delicious with more than enough choice. This hotel is definately recommended and hope to stay there again in the Summer.
The room and hotel was of a high standard with well decorated rooms and a very comfortable bed, the staff were friendly but not over bearing. i will be visting this hotel again.
Nothing was disliked
The proprietors were very friendly and helpful. The room very clean, very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Nothing.
That you were treated as an individual, and made to feel very welcome. The hotel has a very relaxing and tranquil atmosphere about it. The decor very beautiful. But mostly i enjoyed sitting listening to Craigh play the piano whilst i had my breakfast.
Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast. the room was spacious, clean and well decorated.
Excellent Staff, service and breakfast, very clean throughout Was expecting a slightly larger room
staff were outstandingly friendly & very welcoming! Room & ensuite immaculate. A menu for breakfast?! Bagels with smoked salmon & scrambled egg - delicious! a bit out of town, 10 minutes uphill walk, not for the unfit!
A warm welcome from the owner, Craig, started off a very enjoyable stay. Beautiful room, excellent breakfast and a good location, 10 minute walk from town centre.
The beautiful surrounds in the rooms, and all the furniture and fittings.
Everything, the location and especially the the staff. The welcome by the owner was a pleasent surprise in one of the best surroundings ever. A perfect few days.
The hotel owners (and staff) were all incredibly helpful and it is a clean and well-run establishment. Would have no hesitation recommending to others. Excellent stay.
no ventilation in the bathroom
The hotel was beautiful and elegant, it was the only hotel I can say I have stayed at and been made to feel absolutely number one waited on hand and foot. Amazing experience.
This Guest House /bb was absolutely fabulous. We were only there for one night but we never wanted to leave. The Bedroom was luxurious and had everything you could need in it. Hairdryer, Bathrobes, soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, Huge bath towels for when you manage to drag yourself out of the brilliant shower,Tea/coffee (with fresh milk in a chiller in the corridor along with cookies and muffins to help yourself to). Iron and ironing board, dab radio, tv. You only need to turn up with your clothes!! The breakfast was excellent with a massive choice of juices, smoothies, yogurts, pastries, cereals etc etc and then your cooked breakfast. Would I reccomend the The Somerfield??? Yes - without hesitation!!! Didn't come across anything I would change or was not happy with.
The way you were made welcome. The rooms were very good. The breakfast was very plentiful and very tasty. The whole experience was as good as it gets. Even a 5 star hotel would go a long way to beat this.. The management made it feel like your own home.
Everything was perfect the personel service really pleasant best accommodation ive stayed in for along time..
Attention to detail
The very high quality decor and fittings in the room
Very relaxed atmosphere - great staff quite small rooms but very nice
Friendley and helpful staff , cleanliness of the rooms. n/a
Cleanliness of rooms are to a very high standard. Choice of breakfast is very good. Staff are friendley and informative of location. No problem with parking like some places in this area. We will return to this venue again soon. No
