10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great out of the trodden path place. The hotel has an eclectic decoration mix and has a wonderful pool. You get to experience a magical jungle and some rowing seas all in one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The natural beauty was spectacular. The feeling of remoteness, mixed with great infrastructure (the pool was amazing), and comfortable spaces was truly unique. And the food, just delicious, natural flavours and the chef was friendly and careful to manage allergies and preferences.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Completely secluded with large private beach area, quiet and relaxing, excellent food, friendly staff, lovely 4 dogs!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: -The staff were so nice and really attentive making sure you have everything you need. -The food was AMAZING. Best food we have ever had! Outstanding. If there is anything you do not like they even adapt the menu especially to your needs and diet. -The room was nice and clean, lots of space. - The massage was amazing and for such a good price! -Pool is beautiful!
Cons: -The beach is nice but it is not suitable to swm because of currents. However you have a nice pool that compensates that. -All inclusive is great but it soes not include any alcoholic drinks or sodas. Only 1 Juice per meal, water and coffee -The breakfast is really good but could include more variations apart from eggs. For example: Pancakes, Frenchtoast etc.. -Hot water in the showers! I know its a super warm place but i do like a hot shower at the end of the day. But then again your in the jungle.

Pros: A fantastic place to relax!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay and good location. We stayed here for two nights. We arrived rather late and a lovely gentleman was waiting us. The room was quite basic but nice & clean. They are sort of Ecolodge’s with your own bathroom and decking area. Breakfast is included however is the residence does not have a restaurant. It has its own opening onto the beach which is just stunning and empty in the morning. Breakfast is served outside your room on the decking. With a choice of eggs and fruit. Again a very nice touch. Over all a very nice stay and definitely recommend. We did a day trip to tayrona park. This is about a 10 min taxi journey costing 25000 pesos. Personally think a day trip is more than adequate for the park. For dinner we ended up walking along the beach by Pikua lodge. There are nice place a 2 min walk to the right and other eateries 20 mins for the left. Most place do not take card. So have enough cash . Make sure to catch a sunset on the beach, was divine. As mentioned we arrived late at approx 9.30pm. Just be aware that this hotel is at the end of a narrow windy road. You will initially turn off the main road down this narrow route and drive for approx 5 mins. Then you will come to a security gated area, here they will need proof of booking/call to the lodge. Then it’s a further 10 min drive down the road.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place to be! After traveling for 2 weeks in a row it was kinda paradise and magical place to rest and calm down. Can highly recommend this beautiful Ecolodge. Sure, it’s a little expensive but trust me: totally worth it!
Cons: Everything was perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The house was fantastic: confortable, right on the beach and we could cook in the kitchen. Martha was helpful in organising our trips to Minca and parc Tayrona
Cons: The sea can be dangerous so you cant really swim. However you can do a 30 minutes walk and swim on the river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect little house on the beach. Great breakfast (the best we had in Columbia). Martha and all the people are very nice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place (meaning owners Martha and Oscar) did everything right making this place what it is today. From the entire lot location, on a calm stretch of beach, to the "house rules" of not having loud music allowed anywhere, to the service and landscaping - everything is set so to ensure guests have a relaxed stay and enjoy their stay. The initial communication is great, they provided us with every bit of useful information before our arrival, including connecting us with the taxi driver they direct their guests to - Jose (great guy!) They went above and beyond with care, but were utterly unobtrusive. Beach is great, communal "terrace" is a dream place to grab a book and doze off. You can't go wrong with Playa Pikua Ecolodge with perfect value for your money, great scenery and so much wonderful people.
Cons: One thing I had a problem with was that the bed was a bit short for me. I'm 6'5 and in order for the protective screen to keep his protective role, i couldn't stretch laying down or I would mess it all up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything. The location is stunning, the beach is among the most beautiful I have ever seen, the area is magical, and so close to Tayrona Park! An amazing experience. And the staff was so kind, so nice, so generous. Loved it so much!!! Thank you, I will be back.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place ! The location, the beach and the atmosphere. The staff tried to to the best to make our staying perfect.
Cons: A bit messy to communicate as there is no a proper reception but only whatsapp. We wanted to stay one night more but it was complicated to get a proper confirmation. Also, be careful with the moto taxi (some guys are really crazy).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely attentive staff, great breakfast and a beautiful location right on the beach, just what we were looking for for a couple of days of relaxation.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, excellent and friendly owner and staff.
Cons: The hotel is perfect, only the beach there has very strong waves which makes swimming difficult.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and location
Cons: No real expresso coffee and a bit to near the road
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are so friendly and willing to go the extra mile! Felt like a home from home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Ivan and Andrea really look after there guests, the rooms are spacious, vthe food is very nice food and the best part for me was the location and the huge farm owned by the family so you can explore the Sierra Nevada mountain with your very own free guide put on by the hotel.
6.8 Good
Pros: Really like the service, very nice people. Room was spacious and clean. Good cuisine and nice garden.
Cons: It’s located just on the side of a busy road, full of tracks and buses, literally 24/7. Very noisy. For me was impossible to relax and take advantage of property because of constant noise (including during the night). Because of that I would not recommend the stay. Also a bit too pricy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Surpassed our expectations. Really nice place. Has some hikes on the property. The beach was beautiful, although the sea was not really for swimming a perfect place to unwind. We decided to stay one full day at the property as we liked it so much. The food was really nice as well.
Cons: Wifi did not work during our stay. A bit difficult to spot the entrance from the road after dark (by car).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, a natural paradise. Almost no mosquito, despite being in the forest. No air conditioning, but very fresh thanks the trees. Free local fruit! Extremely friendly and helpful staff. It's possible to walk around over 2h in the huge farm (all in the forest). Above all, very eco-friendly. I wish every place around was like this!
Cons: 4% surcharge paying by credit card

Cons: We liked it all!
Taironaka - Buritaca - Building

9.0 Excellent (51 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Santa Marta, Taironaka is on a river, within a 15-minute drive of Quebrada Valencia Waterfall and Buritaca Beach. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location, on the side of the Don Diego river, was awesome. It like I was in the garden of eden. The meals at the restaurant were delicious and service perfect.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything here was amazing. The location next to the river on an old archaeological site was perfect, the plants flowers and animals all around the park really added to the experience. Onsite activities, including the tubing down the river to the Caribbean are highly recommended. And the food in the restaurant was also really tasty. We loved our short stay here.
Cons: Would be good if somehow possible to take card payments, as the nearest cash machine is a 40 minute drive east if you don't bring enough
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location. Loved waking up and swimming in the river and walking around the archeological site. Some great walks nearby too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in the middle of nature. Beautiful surroundings, well maintained garden. Archeological site. Amazing and helpful staff. Delicious food which was not overpriced. Some wifi (we liked that it didn't reach our bungalow but was present in the restaurant - it kind of forces you to use it only for necessary things).
Cons: Only thing we missed was hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place. I am happy that not discovered by many people.
Cons: No wifi but this time it was advantage. Some other mistakes in organizing hotel but this is te reason you will meet there crowds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a boat ride up a river in middle of the jungle. The ruins, wildlife and beauty were amazing. Tubed the river, heard the howler monkeys, saw a caiman, several species of birds. If you want the Hilton, dont go here. But, if you want an amazing experience with a comfortable place to sleep, this is the place. I wish I could have spent more time. The staff is amazing. Very helpful.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nature, The staff, The concept
Cons: Room was not cleaned
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was incredible and definitely worth to spend a bit more on the accommodation than what we usually do! Directly at the Rio Don Djego in the middle of the beautiful nature. You can go for a hike or a swim, enjoy the nature via kayak or donut. Have peaceful nights and days only surrounded by the sounds of nature, instead of the party music like in the bigger cities. There were lots of animals to discover too (cute and less cute ones) :) you can easily visit Tayrona from the accommodation too. Just go for a cootransoriente from the main street for ~ 25 min. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well! We can definitely recommend to visit the place!
Cons: There is actually nothing that we didn't like. Maybe that we couldn't order everything that was on the menu, but apart from that our stay was great :)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The nature all around. Birds, butterflies, flowers, river, insects, trees, the sounds of nature and no other noises.
Cons: Would have been good to have information about walks.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place.Very nice people.Good food.
Tayrona Tented Lodge - Buritaca - Building

8.5 Excellent (887 reviews)

Each functional bungalow has a rustic-style and will provide you with a balcony. Featuring a shower, the private bathroom also comes with toilet paper and free toiletries. The property offers its guests continental and American-style breakfast. The hotel is 7 km from Tayrona Park and 38 km from Santa Marta National Park.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The food was okay, sometimes more flavour full than others. The beach view is nice.
Cons: The water quality is a real problem. Even though they told us not to drink it, the shower and the tooth brushing was enough to make us sick! The water stinks and is not clear at all. There are no hangers in the cabin. The breakfast begins at 8am, so you are doomed if you want to go to Tayrona Park at the opening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was absolutely beautiful and Daniel was there to take care of anything we needed. Our room was spotless!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I completely fell in love with that place. I would recommend it to everybody who wants to enjoy time in a wild nature without many people around
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, even if is better to get some private transportation (moto from Tayrona, for example). They wrote me through WhatsApp to make sure we were going (we arrived in the afternoon before dinner) and to explain how exactly get there. Rooms are not luxurious but so confortable and clean.
Cons: Water is not drinkable and and they sell only small bottles, so we had to buy a lot of them. Being an ecohostel and knowing that is hot and clients will need to drink a lot I would recommend to have some potable water so clients can refill their own bottles, or at lest to sell big bottles. The problem is not paying for them but having to use such big quantity of plastic as we did.
5.5 Okay
Pros: It's a nice place and it's close to the Tayrona Park and to a river where you can rent a kayak. It was clean, and it was fantastic to sleep and wake up with the sound of the sea.
Cons: It was not what we expected. For $220.000/night, we have several complaints: - The quality of the mattress was pretty low. If one of us moved, the other one would wake up. - Only ONE electricity outlet. They use solar energy, but the fact of having only one outlet is a disaster. You can only plug ONE thing: the fan or your phone's charger. - A LOT of mosquitos. We are in pain after staying there. We have an electric mosquito repellent, but, once again, since there's only one outlet we couldn't plug it. - The administrative personnel was slow and passive. There's one person in charge of everything and there's no permanent front desk attention. They NEVER cleaned our room even if we left every morning. Once, the guy came at 3pm after lunch while we were sleeping our siesta. He woke us up to ask if they could clean our room. Disturbing. - Not having to worry about finding a place to eat is comfortable, but don't expect much of the food of this place. The night we arrived, they were expecting us with a dish of spaghetti with a white sauce (I got ONE SLICE of a mushroom in mine) with a glass of instantaneous iced tea). No desserts, no salads, no fruit at breakfast, only one watery fruit juice in the morning, and only one option of food for every meal. Scrambled eggs every single morning with no other option. - No activities offered. It's already a big deal not having Wi-Fi and having a horrible reception in your phone (no way to watch a movie, for example). But the hostel doesn't have a swimming pool or a bar to spend some time. It is IMPOSSIBLE AND DAGEROUS to swim in the sea in front because the waves are high and strong. Our lifesaver was the bar of the hostel next-door. They were much kinder than in this hostel and had nice services. I would not recommend this place. It is worth much less than what you pay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property in a gorgeous location. Nice to have all meals included.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great spot, nice food, quiet.
Cons: Was late to check in as still cleaning the room
5.8 Okay
Pros: Very good setup, picture perfect around the beach and palm area near the lodges
Cons: No WiFi was annoying. Noise from hostels next door was unavoidable. Location was a problem for us as no ATM nearer than Santa Marta, card use in the area was very tricky (and comes with a premium % tacked on for the privilege) and we were told the nearest shop was a 3 hour walk away. The room was bare with only beds in the main area and then the shower area, no bedside table or lamps or anything apart from the beds.
7.0 Good
Pros: We enjoyed our tent space, beach front access, daily locally prepared meals and the attempt of the front desk support.
Cons: We had a very unfortunate and terrible experience of theft from one of the cleaning staff who took care of our room. We do in part take responsibility for not being extra cautious with our money, however these types of events should not happen in a place you should trust to leave your personal items. Had we been given the option to request no housecleaning, we would have as we can live 3 days pretty tidy by ourselves. We returned from hiking through Tayrona, to find the small safe wide open and a portion of our money gone. Prior to leaving we had shut the safe (thought we locked it) and then locked our cabin door (which doesn't matter since the cleaning people have all the keys). That morning before we went hiking we had actually counted exactly the money we put into the safe - we set aside an exact amount for a taxi back to the airport in pesos and my friend had kept a chunk of her dollars as well (to not carry too much cash into the park). We we got back we discovered from both amount $100 dollars missing and $60 pesos missing (a portion from both chucks of money). We concluded that the thief wanted to take just enough for it to be maybe no obvious as probably most people don't count their money. However we had just done so that morning and the fact that a portion was missing from both sets of different money made it more obvious. We confronted the front desk and told him about our misfortune and our 100% sureness of the theft (or else we would never put someone's job on the line). He knew exactly who it was as there was only 1 lady who cleaned that day and accessed our room. However, after speaking with them of course they denied it. He said he would investigate more into the situation and get back to us, but I have never heard anything back. It is just so disappointing to stay in such a wonderful place and then be robbed and have the person lie about it. The rest of our stay after the theft was uncomfortable as the lady was still working there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place in a great location...it is a paradise...

Pros: Right next to the river in an incredible location
Cons: It’s a very raw place, so no WiFi for example. So you go there to really disconnect

7.0 Good
Pros: Location surrounded by nature, no WiFi, just silence. Nice river for swimming and hiking next to.
Cons: No washing machine. No kitchen for guests. You pay extra for breakfast (and lunch) without being told. The owner does not understand any english. No WiFi. No supermarket.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Utterly terrible, rude owner, was calling us names in Spanish as we didn’t speak good Spanish. Room was awful, food terrible, refused to communicate with us. Do not stay here
Cons: Do not stay here. Horrible dogs running around that won’t leave you alone, assuming as they’re trying to get away from their horrible owner
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and when we want it to eat out since they don't have a menu in the restaurant and we are vegetarians so we decided to go out but it was kind of late The lady in charge was so sweet that she sorr managed to create a dish for us!! Very attentive
Cons: The Bathroom is attached in the room so there is no real space and privacy and the whole thing gets wet!
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly family run hostel near to Tayrona Park (15 minute moto-taxi). Pretty surroundings with lake on site.
Cons: Really loud planes overhead at 0530 repeatedly circling the property!! Not sure if this was a one off however.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing at Betty's Bowls!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The most friendly people and great environment. I love the location, the river near by and the waterfalls around the area. Tasty breakfast and comfort bed
Cons: Well it is not a hostel tho you can not cook your food but the food they serve is tasty and a bit pricey so i just ate there one and went to the villages restaurant for the food of the day during my stay

Pros: Location and price
Cons: Toilets
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and its very close to tayrona park. Good air con system in the room.
Cons: The bathroom/shower room was communal and rather dark. Relatively clean. Also due to strong rip currents its not possible to swim at the beach.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is close to the ciudad perdida. We can recommend this location after the jungle trip for relaxation. The location has a lot of shadow by coconut palm trees.
Cons: The common bathroom should be renovated. The best times of this location have been gone.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location! Right on the beach. They give free coffee and free mosquito repellent
Cons: Bathrooms were not cleaned regularly Food and drinks are very expensive
5.5 Okay
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: The cabanas are located walking through a cobbled path through a swamp. Not ideal when you need to go to the toilets, especially when dark (big blue crabs everywhere, potentially also Caymans in the swamp). Toilets substandard and dirty. Would have expected a lot more for the price we paid.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfy beds, quiet and peaceful, slack line
Cons: Water only sold in small bottles at very high prices at their shop. For cheaper water, walk 2 mins to the house opposite the entrance at the main road - half the price. No mosquito mesh across doors.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Landscapes are beautiful, warm water in the river
Cons: Dirty room, without wifi, without hot water, just a pipe for the shower, not even a small mirror. No air conditioning. Staff gave us a locker but they went on our room anyway cause they took the table. Without asking or wait for us to come back. Nobody speaks a word in English. And they cheat on money with tourist people for everything, buses, boats, activities... Sad
