Lovely surroundings. Relaxed atmosphere. Kind people. Afternoon tea is divine.
The inside shared areas were rather small for the number of people who were staying. Luckily the weather was fine and we could sit in the deck. We could have used more guidance and maps from the staff concerning walking trails and negotiating unmarked trails.
Excellent access to the many hiking trails and sights.
No moose sighting !!!
The location is super cute, the bedroom was comfi and very clean, there are 4 really good meals included in your stay: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea (with charcuterie, cheese, nuts, it's amazing) and a three course dinner where you can get to meet other people staying at the lodge.
Not necessarily a disadvantage, but be ready to be unplugged and just enjoy the mountains. Make sure your phone is fully charged and that you have downloaded the maps before you drive there. There's no phone service in a - maybe - 20km radius (so go ahead and download that map so you don't risk getting lost) and the WiFi signal isn't strong at the lodge.
Absolutely serene experience. Hard to go wrong in such a beautiful landscape but the lodge and the staff really upped the ante to make it truly awesome :) Food was amazing and great care was taken to manage dietary restrictions. Sauna was a really nice touch too!
I would have liked to live here full time. Unfortunately that is outside my budget.
Loved the location re: access to hikes off of the Smith Dorien Hwy. Loved the new yurts....fantastic option for accommodation Amazing view from Dining room area
Staff were not engaged. Didn't feel welcome. Didn't introduce themselves. They were not openly interested in our plans for the day (comparing this to other mountain lodges we have visited). One of the key hikes for the area was closed for the 6 weeks (apparently a yearly closure at this time of year)-the lodge staff were not aware of this. For a hiking lodge, I feel the staff should be aware of these conditions We were not able to access the lodge sitting/relaxing area due to a large group of individuals that were set up to perform their seated activity for the 3 days we were there. No available seating in this area. If this had been communicated to us beforehand, we may have made a different choice re; accommodations. No additional seating was provided in front of the fireplace in the lobby area. As a result, our family had to stay in the dining room for the entire time.
