It's a very beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff, who spoke English, so it was easy to communicate with them. I would like to have seen the brunch last a little bit longer. They closed it off at 10:30 and I'm used to brunches in the states going much longer.
The hotel is beautiful and the spa was relaxing. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Location was great, across from the water and walking distance into town. The attention to detail in the pool area needs improvement. It was not busy and not used much since it was off season, however, during our 3 day stay empty glasses and bottles lying on the ground by the pool were never once picked up, nor was the concrete flooring around the pool swept or hosed off so your feet got full or grit if you walked barefoot to the pool. This is not acceptable at a 5 star resort. Also seemed odd that you had to walk upstairs to reception to obtain a pool towel.
high quality rooms and general facilities poor breakfast (cold, hot food) and expensive. Hard unyieding bed.
quiet and relaxing unfortunately I was ill for part of my stay so was unable to enjoy the full experience
Absolute luxury. Rooms, service and location all top class.
The Staff and Hotel were both Fantastic. Very good service, Friendly staff, Very Good Piano Players I really enjoyed the stay and would return.
Good atmosphere and very nicely presented. Very friendly staff.
Staff, design... i liked everything! Everything was perfect.
Nice, large room with a comfterble feeling. Nice ,helpfull staff. Beautiful surondings A little bit away from the centrum
Position and staff helpfulness
Room had an amazing sea view
The breakfast was excellent We found the hotel rather soulless, lacking in warmth and character. The access to the hotel was difficult to find when arriving and there was only one route to Cascais when walking. We found this rather long winded
Location suggests privacy and quiet Noise. On three nights, Fri ,Sat ,Sun loud music from adjoining premises interfered with sleep. Hotel management were resigned to situation and were not helpful.
Enormously large rooms; modern interior; perfect quisine
Well appointed with comfortable room, good standard of service. Reception Staff particularly helpful, as indeed were all the staff in the dining room and the pool bar A little short on car parking space
The hotel is suituated in an ideal location with staff that are excellent. My wife is a coeliac and without any special request the staff we able to get gluten free bread and ceral without any fuss which is usually a major problem when staying in hotels. No complaints
The sitaution of the hotel The queues for a breakfast table.
Our room stunk of smoke!! Everywhere you went especially when yoiu were eating there was people smoking in your face! Great apart from that.
Nice pool area The beds were not good
The breakfast All services were very good but the location was next to a beer garden. This apparantly had a licence to play loud music until 1:30 am even on a Sunday morning. With a long journey the following day i needed a good nights sleep but with the room vibrating, this was impossible and made even worse when the music finished as some of the hotel guests had obviously been there and continued to laugh loudly until 03:30am.On any holiday, a good nights sleep is of paramount importance and it is for this reason that I would never recommend this hotel to anyone until they can get the music licence cancelled or drastically reduced.
The location and being a boutique hotel, was small and friendly. The staff were eager to be helpful and made you welcome. It's been operating for approx 8 years and could use an upgrade. It was also expensive for what it offered and even charged 3euro for each coffee in your room.
Location The service was inconsistent with the standard a five star hotel. The staff were very unhelpful and unapproachable. EG We ordered lunch and received the wrong food Breakfast service was appalling had to practically chase a waiter to get a coffee - tables were not set which resulted in having to forage for cultery and napkins. We were offered eggs one day and none the next. We ordered cocktails in the bar one night and the were not given the wat we ordered we did not return the cocktails as we feared a reprisal. I wanted to use the iron and was told the hotel did not have a travel iron!! We ordered water by the pool and received a plastic bottle whilst other guests were presented with a water bottle in an ice bucket - with glasses etc We suspected that the lack of service may have been attributed to the fact that we did not speak Portuguese but we noticed that most of the other guests communicated to the staff in English.
The view. The design. The quietness of the surrounding. Closets are oldfashioned and need redone. Maybe not enough light in the room.
Just stayed here for 5 nights...beautiful boutique style hotel with modern design yet still has all the original features of the old building. The pool area is fabulous...the view out over the rocks and the sea is amazing and its very relaxing to sit out all day and watch the sun go down. The restaurant for breakfast is really good again with spectacular views out to sea. Dinner is a must as the food is 5* in the restaurant. Service in the hotel is excellent whether at the pool, bar, restaurant. Location to Cascais is perfect as the hotel is located right beside the marina which has some lovely restaurants to visit and its less than 10 minutes stroll into Cascais. Only negative is that our bathroom was tiny..small complaint though!
The ambience, the location and the friendliness of the staff
Absolutely stunning location with attentive, helpful staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. Expensive but pure bliss lounging on their four-poster sunbeds, wine glass in hand, watching the crashing Atlantic waves. Also, great base for easy visits to Lisbon (by train) and Sintra (by bus).
Position of hotel good. Front desk staff not very welcoming, laundrey taken from room without form being filled in, overcharged at poolside bar, ordered taxi to take to airport and got private hire car at double price without being asked, too many "outside" functions, such as weddings disrupting guests. Room small. This hotel is overrate and overpriced.
I was really pleased with the Farol Design Hotel overall. I thought the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and modern in design. I very much enjoyed the brunch with the sea-side view. Overall, I'd give this hotel a very high rating and would love to stay there if I returned to Cascais, Portugal. It would have been nice if the pool area had a hot tub/jacuzzi in addition to the pool. The pool water was very cold and didn't really match up in quality compared to the rest of the hotel.
The pool and staff were great. All the food and drinks we had during our stay were very good. I think it is very overpriced for what you get.
Internet access.good bar. Poor lighting-not geared businessman
The all over comfort and friendliness of all the staff
Views and Location and Cascais Excellent Friendliness of staff and general atmosphere
Excellent location in the centre of Cascais, friendly and helpful staff, parking Rooms a little outdated, breakfast should start at 7 am
next to the sea, breakfast with view of the sea
Beautiful location, right beside the beach. Sea view rooms. Bar staff were very friendly. Reception staff were not very helpful. Breakfast was not very nice.
Views of the bay of Cascais
Wonderful location, in front of Cascais bay, close to city center, shops and train station. Nice breakfast. Need remodelation: door of the room did not close, and after a few tentatives the clerk manage to fix it. Broke again as I left the room. Very poor and old bathroom.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and found the staff most helpful. My stay would have been improved had the room provided a hair dryer, coffee and tea making facilities in the bedroom and perhaps a small refridgerator.
the location of Hotel Baia is fantastic (which is why we booked it). Also the fact that there is parking (of which there is a shortage with central hotels in Cascais).
Location Unbelievably they have no Iron and was there on important business !! Very limited facilities and the staff looked at me shocked when i asked for an Iron as if I was asking for something extreme or unusual!!
Spectacular hotel, very special with uninterrupted views, felt very spoilt for the few days we were there.Food was excellent and not overpriced for such quality, service and most importantly view... Pool small and railing around edge of cliff face should have vertical rails not horizontal rails.
The location and quality of this hotel are outstanding. It is an expensive hotel but you get good value for money.
In nice part of town, friendly atmosphere not tempted by the menu in the restaurant, a bit too fancy and service took quite a long time for lunch.
The location was great--just a few minutes walk from train station and right on the ocean. There was a beautiful stoned path to walk along the ocean for 30 minutes.
The level of service was excellent - in fact probably the most professional I have seen in recent years. The location is wonderful.
The location was superb ,with amazing views and only a few seconds stroll to shops and restaurants. train staion very handy for going into lisbon. the staff very helpful and courteous. we will return.
The view from the hotel terraces is superior. We have received a room that had a superior view over a city but was located next to huge airconditioning units for the hotel and whole shopping mall located on floors below the hotel (literally 10 meters on the same level/ level below). Therefore romantic nights on the tarace where not with city background noise but with quite dominant "pumping" noise of the airconditioning station units. We don't smoke and the fact that next to our terrace was a terrace used by staff to have a cigarette breaks was also a minus. Service was not at the level you expect from the boutique hotel e.g. we were not informed about dinner arrangements.
location breakfast bedroom
Very well located in Cascais with immediate beach access. Train station (for connecting to central Lisbon) 1 minute walk away and local shopping & restaurant area adjacent to hotel. Sufficiently small (60 rooms) to treat its guests as individuals and sufficiently large to provide the services a 5*-hotel should.. The staff is very friendly and guest-focused and combine professional and personal warmth. Will happily return not only as a business-visitor but also for private visits.
Wonderful ambience and unobrtrusive service. No
Great location No
Excellent atmosphere in very well, classically decorated, rooms. All the staff were most helpful and welcoming at all times. Very highly recommended. Perhaps the bed was a little too hard, otherwise excellent.
House had living areas for your leisure which would be very nice if traveling with other friends or couples. Very near waterfront.
If anything this hotel undersells itself. It is a beautiful place with extremely polite and helpful staff.
We enjoyed the location, evening port, lovely clean bedding, tablewear etc. and friendliness of staff. We stayed in the ' flowers room' my husband is tall and suffers with a back problem. The beds were uncomfortable for him as they were quite a lot smaller than we are used to. The beds creaked with every move and we would request a different room with a 'double' bed, if we returned to Pergola house.
Pergola House was beautiful, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The house is very well maintained with beautiful gardens, Good selection of food on offer for breakfast and the complimentary glass of port every eveing is thoughtful! The location of Pergola House is perfect!! There was no air conditioning in the bedroom as stated in the hotel linformation which was disappointing.
The location and homely feel of the Pergola house - was very welcoming. The breakfast wasn't as good in standard to the other breakfasts we had on our stay in Portugal. (The coffee wasvery bitter and the orange juice watered down).
very clean no tv in bedroom - that was surprising - I like to keep up with the news, but admittedly there was a TV lounge
great hospitality, personal, cozy and practical
Excellent decor traditional to the area relaxing
There is one of my best Hotel. I was impressed with hospitality service of staff and the garfen. I would like to stay there and going to Cascais again.
The hotel is in a perfect location in Cascais surrounded by restaurants and bars with lovely views over the harbour. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is expensive to stay and probably not up to 5 stars. Tea and Coffee facilities are not in your room they are in the hallway - Tea bags only. Taxis booked via reception are by private limo and very expensive.
We thought we had booked the Hotel Albatroz so the Villa and its location was a big disappointment. However the staff made us most welcome. The bed was most uncomfortable and the room not quite what we expected. However we did enjoy our stay.
The view and the quality of food The noise outside and the lack of modern facilities
High degree of servises. No.
the ^restaurant was very good - they have an excellent chef who creates innovative cuisie with local ingredients The wines offered were excellent. The staff were friendly and helful and I felt like I was known there rather than room number one - take the room 1 as it has a small balcony and you can hear the waves from the beach - it was very comfortable.
Service was very good. Location was excellent.
Quaint, clean/elegant and great location
Nothing special, maybe the location and the breakfast. People in receptio were nice.
Good staff and location Standard of decoration was fair, given the 5 star rating this was poor.
Central location by the seaside.Villa Albatroz is the sister hotel of Hotel Albatroz and therefor allows access to the pool of Hotel Albatroz where one can relax when the beaches are too crowded and/or too hot. There one can have lunch as well, with a fantastic view to the sea and beaches. Villa Albatroz is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but I expect a few of those stars are "inherited" from Hotel Alabtroz. It has a good location but unless you get a discount it's not good value for money. Our room was a Standard Double with Sea View, but you had to stretch your neck to see the sea. Most rooms do not have a balcony. Breakfast was a bit dull as well.
