It was small and quiet. They won't refund my $20 deposit. I had to call my creditcard company to get it back. Such a pain and not worth the headache.
Updated, clean and neat. Owners were very nice. Would stay again.
My husband and I had a great stay here. The room was very nice and modern. It was clean and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Nordic Motel was much nicer than any motel I've ever stayed in. It's a bit of a trek to the downtown Portland area if you are going by public transit, but I already knew that when I booked it so I can't really complain. The train across the street is noisey in the morning but it doesn't run on the weekend so that wasn't really an issue either.
The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Amenities were great, with expanded cable, DVD player, fridge and microwave, and especially very good wireless internet. The staff is very friendly and courteous, always willing to help with any problems I had. It is conveniently located close to the airport, a lightrail station and the interstate, but also sort of off the beaten path so it makes the surroundings quieter and not so busy. Some people have commented on the lack of either an exercise room or pool, but I think that is not really as important, especially in Portland, where trails and parks abound very close to everywhere, and you can still get your workout. For the price, this is a great motel and it is my go-to place to stay whenever I'm in the Portland area. What downsides I noticed were all fairly minor in nature and not really things the owners can be faulted for. The location, though convenient to the airport and other ground transportation, is still quite far out from the city center. There are train tracks across the street from the hotel, so once in a while you hear one go by. The parking lot can be a little tight, so be careful when pulling your car in or out.
There wasn't anything to like about this place. To start, when I arrived, they panicked because they didn't have my room. All they could do is put me in a smoking room. I took it because I needed a place to stay. And as far as I can tell I still paid the extra that I reserved through Kayak for a non smoking room. The room smelled like smoke, and the lady at the front desk offered to spray it for me. Really? The bed and pillows had burn holes in them, which I had to disclose so I could get my $50 deposit back. This place is a joke, do not stay here!
First of all I made a reservation online under "pet friendly" and accidentally booked it for the wrong weekend. I called the hotel and the front desk was extremely rude and told me to call whomever I booked through. When we got there we were told our room was not pet friendly and our dog was not allowed. I was also asked for $100 deposit who h was never mentioned when I booked either. It was an ok room but we alarmed that the police showed up to loudly escort the people above us from their room in the middle of the night. Never ever again would I stay here. Don't do it.
The bed was very comfortable and made every day of our stay. It is very easy to get into downtown because it is right next to the main highways.
Very stinky place
The staff was very friendly and helpful, with answers to all of our questions. Having the in-room fridge was incredibly useful. Water pressure was decent, and sufficiently hot as needed. Over all, we were quite satisfied. This is more of a comment towards Portland in general, but the cigarette smoke was pretty heavy around there. We were in a no-smoking room, but we could still smell it with all the doors and windows closed, when people outside would light up. Similarly, my mother was staying in a no-smoking room a few doors down from us, and her room was permeated with the smell.
Somewhere to sleep? Crackheads rapping upon our chamber door. A night all alone i hear a rumble, so alone, er tho rumbles a crackhead so noir. Through some peephole a menace beyonde below, begging for smoke, and no more, we wished him a well travel, but sent him off with black a mild a plenty, such a uncouthed vagrant he beggdd for scrapped, yest be cast him about a yappin. Quote the crackhead "You-aint-got no mo?'". "'Tis my last square." I uttered. Though i may have softly spoken, desipite the reefer i'd been smoking., i said, "no more" "In my robe of complementary so galore I uttered begone harlot so wishing to be galore. Alas, I stayed in hotel of the trees, though noisiness never let me get a nut. Like an acorn, their rating fell, like a bat out of hell. A wonderful trip still happrnened nut unto ye, old chestnut tree.
The staff was incredibly accommodating. The location is also amazing. The motel is across the street from a train station, right next to a lovely little park, and within walking distance from the Mississippi District. Even though my room was nonsmoking, it still smelled a bit like smoke. Not enough to give me a headache, the way smoke typically does, but enough to be noticeable when you step into the room. The wifi is decent, though nothing amazing.
The price Everything else
Friendly and accommodating staff, clean and spacious rooms, very affordable, excellent location right next to a park and a railway stop, only a short walk to Mississippi Ave neighborhood Minor inconvenience of the fan automatically turning on when the light turns on in the bathroom
Could not have visitors room desk clerk bad night service
It was close to a business meeting I had which was great otherwise, just the sign. Tv was small, built up dust in corners and along easy to clean areas, no plug for the tub, so no relaxing bath, almost slipped on the stairs and furniture looked like it was from an alley and out dated. Sorry just my experience and opinion.
Quiet location, clean room
Not much to like. Room smelled very strongly like smoke. Not too clean. Overall, what I would expect for the price. I immediately wished that I paid up for a nicer place to spend the night.
Staff was nice. Place was dumpy. Crusty bathroom walls. musty smell.
Clean. Near downtown. Small earthquakes when train passes by. Very early check out . Not very friendly staff. They speak on the phone while attending you.
$70 a night for two comfortable beds, and clean room in a great location on up and coming Interstate Ave. One of several good deal hotels on Interstate that represent some of the best values in central PDX.
The beds are not very comfortable, the toilet ran all night, and the fridge was noisy. But you get what you pay for!
The location was central to two separate districts When pulling up to this quaint little spot, you notice the horrid tacky neon sign - and you know you're about to have a bad time. Once arrived, my girlfriend and I were just trying to check into the facility for what our online reservation was for. The desk clerk proceeded to tell us that we were going to have to pay an additional 20 dollars to reserve the room and at that point during the night we didn't have another option. Although I must admit it was incredibly difficult to understand what the clerk was saying through missing teeth and a drunken slur. After much irritation we agreed, only to have our card charged multiple times because the receipt paper wasn't working correctly to which the employee thought the answer was to keep charging until it finally printed. We were both disgruntled and thought the awful experience was over, just wanting to get some rest. Subsequently - we were woken up at 9 a.m. To the sound of leaf blowers - that insisted to go on for over an hour. Their water is murky, the wifi is garbage and the staff is god awful. Represents their business practices. Stay away. TLDR: worst hotel/motel/airbnb/couch surf ever
Knowing that we had booked a motel based on a lower price we weren't expecting a luxurious motel . With that said we were greeted with very friendly and helpful staff and a clean room . The location was ideal and it was quiet . The shower was not working well .
Clean, bed was comfortable, friendly staff, easy to find Breakfast was okay, because it was close to the airport you could really hear the planes taking off
Bad breakfast, curtains were softer than the comforter.
Hotel was spotless & staff was amazing. My only complaint is the continental breakfast has few options and even fewer heathy choices.
The waffles and the shuttle service as well as the room/tv channels A bit far from the max but luckily the shuttle service takes people to the airport stop and picks them up when you call
Proprietor Harry was extremely responsive when we complained about room and switched us immediately.
location good Smell from cleaning spray and previous smoker. Mattress lumpy
People at the desk were very friendly. The area had a couple sketchy characters about and the night desk clerk roved the premises for safety. Loved that since I was walking the dog alone. Overall a great stop for the cheap cost.
We booked a 1-King-bed room. Our 5yr old grandson ended up coming with us, so we called & asked if we could switch rooms. The very pleasant woman said, "Oh, you don't need to - there's a hide-a-bed in the room." When we arrived after 9pm, tired after driving all day, the man at the front desk said they don't even have hide-a-beds anymore. We were forced to pay $10 more for the last 2-queen room. Irritating.
For the money, this was a great value! The price was so much better than the airport hotels, and it was only a few exits SW of downtown on I-5. The property was VERY clean, very nice and well-kept. For an independently owned hotel, the owners have obviously worked very hard to keep pace with the offerings of the major chains. I would definitely recommend. I do wish the breakfast was a little more robust (eggs, or bacon or sausage), but really the food was fine for the price we paid for the room. No complaints, really.
The best part about it is the location, which is right in the heart of downtown Portland. Clean enough, though not anything fancy. Seemingly nice staff. Noisy. A little sketchy. Didn't feel 100% safe there.
Staff is friendly Beds are mediocre. Sheets and mattress both
Clean, comfortable room, excellent desk service, location was where I needed it to be... not a 4 star hotel, but it didn't need to be. Perfect.
Vintage motel in great location with friendly staff. Don't expect fancy little soaps, room service or marble countertops. Lots of fun places nearby, good bus and bike connections.
The staff was very accommodating, they allowed us to check in a few hours before check in time so that we could freshen up and explore the city! The location of this motel was great, we could have walked to the convention center (where we attended comic con, the reason for our visit), and most uber rides downtown were around 7-10 dollars! There were also a few decent restaurants within walking distance! I definitely recommend breakfast and J and M. While the actual location of the hotel was great, it did get a bit noisy at night, with or without open windows.
great location, nice staff, newly renovated, clean. the bathroom is a little dated.
Great location, close to downtown. Staff was friendly, rooms appeared clean. A little noisy at night. The room smelled heavily of perfumed air freshener. The bathroom had what appeared to be fruit flies.
The location was extremely convenient for going across the river (by bus or car) to the Pearl, Nob Hill and Downtown districts. Also, the immediate vicinity was good, as the hotel is very near to the Jupiter Hotel and Doug Fir Lounge and Restaurant, which has good breakfasts and a nice nighttime bar. The rooms were clean and functional - and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I give this hotel my top rating! No complaints.
Great location. Free WiFi. No frills. Minimal room, but comfortable beds with good service and a clean atmosphere. It's an older motel, so it definitely has a run-down feel. For my trip (visiting Portland with a friend to go enjoy the city, nightlife, etc) this was perfect. It's confusing to find parking (small lot) and to get around the motel.
Great location to both I5 and 205. Quiet. The rooms were extremely clean and very nicely kept. Beds and pillows were all very comfortable especially considering how inexpensive our stay was. Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Definitely a great short stay hotel.
Breakfast was good with eggs and sausage make your own waffles cereal muffins coffee and juice
Room was clean, nice water pressure, soft sheets Tv picture was pretty bad for whatever reason. Bed was smaller than expected despite upgrading to the business king suite - whatever that even means.
nothing to like here The staff was unfriendly, the staff were not polite. The room when we got to it had dirty yellow sheet and was stinking. When we asked the staff to do something about it, they said they were understaffed and all the other rooms were taken so could not do anything about it.
I liked how conveniently located it is. It's a short drive to downtown. The fact that wifi is extra is a reason for me to reconsider staying here again.
location was ideal for Portland. Close to downtown, could take the bus and be there in10 min. Close to Safeway and convenience stores. required payment for wi-fi old CRT type TV took up too much space on small desk picture was not very good. noisy A/C Staff was helpful and was able to save a few bucks by correcting the occupants to 1 adult and 1 child (kayak had defaulted to 4 adults) No way you can fit 4 adults in that small room
Close to bus stop A fridge and expensive wifi
This place is overpriced. Unless your main objective while visiting Portland is to visit the strip club next door or go bowling at the place across the street I would not stay here. There are hardly any amenities available even if requested. The worst part? There were bugs in the bed.
Cheap and good location No refrigerator, no laundry, extremely cramped. Have stayed at other Motel 6's that had much better amenities and more space.
Room was c Room was clean
Cheap and somewhat close to airport Everything reeked of cigarett smoke
There is a train that runs about 100 ft behind the motel. It can be heard throughout the night. I also encountered a fully nude male leaving his room in heat. The place had a brothel vibe.
Staff friendly, bathroom tiles looked greasy like garage shop obviously old needs update, bedding dingy, constant police patrol in parking lot
I know there were sections of the hotel were smoking was allowed, but it was very obvious that marijuana was being smoked leader or inside the building and it made all rooms snow is if they had marijuana in them I did not like the smell of marijuana seeping into my room and being just in the hallway this is I open my front door
Terrific access to streets, highways, and light rail. Clean, comfortable, great value. Parking could have been better, more abundant, and tenants with their dogs could have been more diligent about cleaning up their crap in the parking area.
Rates were great, room was amazing and I will stay again. The $100 deposit that was not stated as a requirement when booking.
Slept well, room clean and pretty quiet No elevators and the surrounding neighborhood was a little off
Bathroom was all wet, as if the sprinkler had gone off. The wallpaper, door, and baseboard was all warped, as if this hadn't been an isolated occurance.
We were from out of town and having lab work done at a local lab so the location was great for that purpose--just spent one night. The staff was friendly and helpful, room spacious and attractive, and bed comfortable (sheets weren't paper thin and clingy). There was a 4' divider that separated the couch from the sleeping area/bed. Along a wall was a counter with a microwave and refrigerator, which is something not all hotel/motel rooms have. It wasn't plush, but more than adequate for our needs and for a reasonable price. Because of the lab work we were fasting so couldn't try the breakfast they make available for their guests. We didn't check it out, but that isn't a negative in regard to them.
Great value, A very friendly and helpful staff. room was larger than expected. A very light breakfast, muffins / coffee / juice, but it was free.
Staff was very friendly. Everything was fine. It was a perfect location and price for me.
Old and a little worn but clean and cheap. Large rooms. Felt kind of run down, cheap mattresses and linens, old furniture.
The hotel seemed slightly oversold, but I think it was a good value. The atmosphere was of a motel, but it was a good motel. The room was excellent. Neighborhood not great, but ok. I think they should not have bothered with the continental breakfast. They did not replenish the coffee in my room. That wouldn't matter, except that I kept expecting them to. The staff was fine, other than this minor issue, which they probably would have corrected if I had raised it with them.
No lock on door or window. Weird attic hatch in ceiling, again no lock. I felt very unsafe.
Didn't spend a lot on a room here. It was a quick escape from family with my girlfriend. Ghetto people love to start yelling at 6pm and never let up all night
late check in because they were busy the previous night; no shower curtain in room upon arrival
The room I stayed in was recently remodeled. The bathroom has tiled floor/shower surround and the fixtures are modern and clean. The room features new everything including a big flat screen TV. I don't know if all the rooms had been updated, but mine was as good as I'd expect from a chain hotel for 1/2 the cost. The place has been in a year long remodel with the lobby/front desk still a work in progress. The location is very convenient to the Hollywood district attractions. Although it's location is in a little bit sketchy block, I didn't feel uncomfortable walking there at night. Bus service is 3 blocks away and the train station is a 10 minute stroll. The redline train Eastbound is a 21 minute ride right to PDX airport. All trains Westbound head to downtown and beyond. No concierge service, no free continental breakfast, but for the money I saved, I could treat myself to a real meal at one of the several local restaurants and have money left for entertainment. Though the motel area was free of panhandlers, the Hollywood district has an abundance of them. Though not anywhere near as bad as downtown Portland, in the 2 days I was there, I was approached over 15 times by folks asking for money. No one was super aggressive about it, but it's rather sad how Portland (especially downtown) has gone downhill.
Rude employees, way to strict on rules, lights dim in the room, not very bright. Sheets and bed were dirty, white stains on bathroom door and walls.
The location was convenient and felt safe. The room was dirty. The hot water was inconsistent. Sometimes it was lukewarm at best.
Close to many public transit lines inc max train, dining, shopping, Hollywood Theatre. A great jumping off point esp for those interested in the culturally rich eastern half of Portland. This is a budget offering, a motor lodge with two stories facing out onto a parking lot; no elevator to upper level. Needs a renovation but a stone bargain in the meantime. I'd return and stay again on a similar trip. Offered early pre-2pm check in for an additional $20; unyielding on this point. To stroll the neighborhood, had to leave my bag outside the reception counter and was worried it might have been stolen. Tired furnishings but everything worked that needed to. Labyrinth of streets/crosswalks to get to the place.
The room was clean and nice, and the maid staff was friendly. The location was close to downtown and the freeways, and the surrounding area was fun to explore too. One of the washing machines was broken, but I just used the other one, and they were under construction at the time which was unsightly, but obvi that's just temporary.
Location was ok. Not very clean, didn't feel worth it even for the lower price point.
Location was pretty good. We were able to walk to 7 breweries. Room smelled like cigarette smoke, cigarette burns and rips in the blankets, only a small garbage can in the bathroom, there wasn't one in the room. Just a shabby looking place. Probably one of the worst motels I've ever stayed in.
Cheapest available. Escorts out front. Bed bugs. Cigarette smoke everywhere
Location is convenient I suppose. Extremely dirty, the people hanging around the parking lot and hallways looked like they were either on drugs or about to stab someone, room was filthy - dirty sheets, stains everywhere, holes in the tiles and wall, cigarette burns in the blankets - seriously felt so uncomfortable. Just the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The front desk is a tiny window with probably bullet proof glass which I don't blame them for using given the people who come by. Next time I wouldnt stay here even if it was free.
Windows that open and freedom to smoke. Quality of guest rooms and the aroma of the hotel.
