beautiful hotel, excellent location on gervais, right near everything. access to west columbia, access to downtown, nice staff, pet friendly.
parking filled up fast, but had free options nearby. 5th floor was tough for my dogs. neither of those are hotel related though, city layout
The hotel is located in a lively section downtown, and would be great for those wanting night-life within walking distance. However, the area is hilly, so walking is always up or downhill; not a problem for young folks.
Free breakfast was disappointing. Only dry scrambled eggs, and no other options. Other hot items were stale. No gift shop for pickup of incidentals; just a tiny counter of items 4 ft wide. No guest information in the room explaining services of the hotel and surrounding area. Parking was available, but rather pricey. I would probably opt next time for a location outside of the city with easy parking. Our room was called a suite, but was nothing like an Embassy suites room; more like a slightly larger standard room.
The location for what we wanted to do.
The Green Trash truck picked up the stuff at 4:50 AM and woke us up. Seriously. That sucked. For that reason, I'd probably not stay there again but go across the street to the Hampton Inn.
Pets welcome.. our dog loved it
The cleanliness of the property and the rooms. The rooms were spacious and up to date. Convenient walking to many stores and restaurants. The staff was professional and the breakfast was exceptional. It was actual breakfast and not just something that was thrown together and left out to get cold and for people to make a mess over.
The address is listed as one street, but the entrance is on another. As a visitor, that was confusing to me upon arriving in the city. I had to call the hotel to get directions to the entrance.
The hotel is beautiful new 6 story building with 130 spacious guest rooms. The hotel is located with a small walking distance of multiple restaurants and only minutes from a variety of local downtown area attractions, including The Congaree Vista and the State Capitol. The hotel is also minutes from the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, Colonial Life Arena and the University of South Carolina.World of Hyatt members can enjoy our complimentary breakfast when they book an eligible rate.
