Bait and Switch
Cons: The upsell was not tactful at all. When the employee pressured me to buy the optional insurance, I kept asking "how much is the insurance" and she would only tell me the total (not the additional cost I was incurring). I asked repeatedly and she either didn't comprehend the question or chose to ignore it. Then she told me I could elect to return the tank empty and Hertsz would just charge me for whatever it cost to refuel. But in fact I was charged for a full tank of gas right then and there. I could have saved myself at least $10 by just refueling myself before I returned. Lame.

Cons: I had to call a taxi to get to Hertz rental. When i got there they wouldnt accept my Visa Debit Card because it was not from a local bank. I had wish kayak would had told me before i spent money on taxi. Also they had debited 68.00 for traveler's insurance when i initially booked online . Therefore i wil need credit of 68.00 put back on my card. Would not recommend kayak until they are on the same page of these rental companies.

They were closed at the agreed upon time to pick up
Cons: I took an Uber to pick up my rental car and was supposed to pick up at 5:00PM and the office was closed even though their office was supposed to close at 6:00PM. This left me stranded until I could get another Uber to pick me up. I will never rent from Hertz again as this was highly unprofessional and if they needed to close at least have the common courtesy to call the people that have a pending pick up. I called the customer service number to demand a refund and they said that it would take 5 days to process, but that has been a week ago. I have a hard time paying for a car that I was not afforded the opportunity to actually pick up. I guess I need to call them again today to question the status of my refund. Never again Hertz.

Bad customer service in this specific dealership.
Pros: Good vehicle.
Cons: Bad customer service. I am a regular Hertz renter, but this dealership is bad. I had to wait for 35 mins to pickup my car. There was only one person ahead of me. There were multiple calls that were prioritized over customers standing in the front.
I returned the key in drop box on Sunday, no one noticed this in Hertz and i was charged 426 per day after that. I had to call them and explain this to get it sorted and get money back.

Pros: Great customer service representatives, car availability and ability to drop off at another location
Cons: Car had smoke odor, which gave me a serious headache....had to drive with windows down in order to alleviate some of the smell during my trip.

Won't be using Hertz again
Pros: New car
Cons: The rental counter was empty when I arrived to pick up my car. The agent showed up 10 minutes uses late, spent another 10 minutes behind closed doors and when she finally came out to the counter, didn't even acknowledge me until she had spent another 10 minutes uses going through keys and paperwork. I was supposed to get my rental at 6, the agent didn't begin helping me until 6:30, I was the only person at the counter and has to wait 30 minutes to be helped because the agent was so late. Every time I tried calling customer service no one could help me they just kept telling me they would send the manager and email asking them to call me. Very poorly run location I was at.
Cons: Prices change at their discretion and there is no complaints department. Had to seek the Better Business Bureau for assistance.

Pros: Very clean car.
Cons: Car had flat tire as soon as we left the airport. We had to put air in it to get it back to airport. Took it back and was told to go fill car up and he would exchange it and cost us $ 5.00 for going 5 miles . Had to drive this vehicle on an almost flat tire to get gas! Didn't get an economy car like we wanted. The other car was a 4x4 that got 20 miles per gallon. He said that was all he had available.A very aggravating experience for us. Shouldn't rent to you if they don't have the car you want available.

Cons: I had to go to an Airport to pick up the car but that was really more of an inconvenience than a sticking point.

Cons: Pickup was awful..had a car reserved,but when I got to the airport it wasn't available so I was stranded in the airport for 3 1/2 hours! Unacceptable!!

Cons: HORRIBLE!!!!! I had reserved the car and when I got there they told us they didn't have any cars. It was lame.
Cons: Check-in was slow. Long line. Only one agent. And no cars were available even though I was at my booked time. I had to wait for a car for 30 minutes after waiting 30 minutes in the line.

Cons: Was absolutely not made aware that there would be an additional $95 charge to drop the car off at another airport. The rental rate was higher when I changed the rental to include 2 airports so I assumed that was due to a fee for dropping off at another airport however when I arrived at the drop off they charged me an additional $95. Seems like they are scamming people. I would not use them again.

Pay attention and ask questions
Pros: I was happy that the car had XM radio. The car ran well and we had no complaints with it, other than a few minor cleanliness issues.
Cons: My car was not ready at the pickup time, and after a 20 minutes wait I was offered a free upgrade. I was not presented with a total cost, and when I asked what it was, it was $50 more than I was expecting. It turns out that Roadside Assistance was added without my consent. It was removed, but had I not asked for the total charge, I would have signed electronically and been obligated for it.

Reservation doesn’t mean you will have a car

Pros: It is hard to list anything they performed well.
Cons: Their staff is extremely rude. They didn't have the car we reserved. They said it wasn't available and offered us an upgrade for additional cost. We declined their offer. Suddenly, the attendant, whom happens to be the manager, found the car we reserved and indicated it wasn't cleaned because the cleaning staff have left for the day. She informed us that she will get someone to clean the car and to meet them in the lot. We waited for 10 minutes in the cold weather and nobody met us there. We came back in and the manager made us wait another 10-12 minutes while she took care of one customer. Finally, when it was our turn, she wondered why we came back. The car was handed to us extremely filthy. The manager was rude about the whole situation the entire time and never apologized. Never rent from Thrifty or Dollar period at the CAE location.
Pros: This particular site was outstanding in providing great and courteous service. They were prompt in delivering the car and were able to satisfy all my needs very well.

Good price, but difficult experience
Pros: The staff was very helpful in the Columbia pick-up location. The car we ended up with was comfortable and ran well. When we encountered problems with the pickup (see other section) the staff was happy to assist me in finding a suitable replacement vehicle.
Cons: We ran into some difficulties with the pick-up in Columbia. Initially, the gentleman helping me didn't think he had a car in the category I had reserved. He did offer me an upgrade to a pickup, but, as I was driving down the entire East Coast, I didn't want to chance luggage in a pickup. He eventually found a car in my category. When he opened the door, the smell of strawberry air freshener was overwhelming. By the time I got home with the car, I could tell why - there was a definite smell of smoke in the car. I called to get a new car, as I was going to have it for a month and wasn't prepared to drive a car that smelled so strongly. They asked me to drive back in with the car and choose one off their lot. I was offered a smaller car, but my luggage wouldn't fit. He then offered me a car that they were still detailing. We did take that one, but it ended up having had cola or some sticky substance sprayed over much of the interior... Hence my rating on cleanliness.

Cons: I attempted to book online 2 times (on the Enterprise Site), I got all the way to payment and whack, disconnected. I follow-up with a call, disconnected! I guess you no longer need/want my business.
