Pros: Very cozy and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare a meal. Free parking in the private lot behind the Gite was a plus. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful for both our French and English speakers. Was the best place we stayed in the area.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - Marie, our host, was welcoming & friendly, helpful (helped carry some luggage to the 2nd floor), full of information (what to see in and outside St Cirq, where to eat in the village, where to park), and made sure each day that our stay was perfect. The kitchen was fully equipped for even a long-term stay with coffee maker, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, stove, cookware, etc. We unfortunately weren't able to take advantage of the beautiful garden because of the weather. The "gite" was spacious with a high ceiling as it was on the 2nd (top) floor, with a nice view of the town hall.

Pros: Very beautiful property, great setting and amazing pool. The hosts were wonderful and the breakfast was very delicious. We received a free parking ticket to visit Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and the hostess gave us a map and tips about the region. Would definitely recommend this to our friends and family!

Pros: The owners were very friendly and helpful. The property has great character, an excellent swimming pool and is near a very beautiful village in a stunning landscape.
Cons: The signage for the property could be more prominent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed this Bed and Breakfast more than any other place we stayed in France. It was good for the Soul. Very well appointed and the hosts are fantastic people. If you need an escape then this place is for you. Also Saint Cirq Lapopie is fantastic.

Pros: Guy and Fabienne were very kind helpful and considerate hosts. giving us information on local places to visit Nice to have complimentary parking passes for the busy gorgeous village of St Cirq Lapopie. Their B&B was lovely, the spacious room comfortable beds set in a beautiful period house overlooking open quiet countryside ideal for us cyclists to explore ! 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent clean and spacious room decorated to a very high standard. Our hosts were extremely hospitable and gave excellent advice about scenery, routes and restaurants. It was a lovely 2 day stay
Cons: Not applicable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Cordial hosts, stylish decor, well-appointed room
Cons: No wifi in room. Today, strong, reliable room wifi connectivity is a basic non-negotiable hospitality requirement. Noise transfer between rooms. We were wakened and disturbed by the noise of inconsiderate guests in the room above us. Booking.com should give greater prominence to the wifi and payment limitations of Le Max de Laval
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I spent a couple weeks in France and were fortunate enough to stay at Le Mas de Laval. On our trip to France, we talked about "happy accidents," which were unexpected surprises that made our trip so much more special. For us, Le Mas de Laval was one of our best happy accidents! I booked this hotel in St. Cirq Lapopie and thought I had booked at a different location. So, when we turned down the narrow road to reach the farmhouse, we were quite surprised in the most wonderful way! First, the property is breathtakingly beautiful. It is an updated and restored medieval farmhouse property surrounded by woods and a stone's throw from the River Lot. It looks as if it was plucked from a storybook. We were greeted by Fabienne, the most gracious host, and taken to our room which was elegant, modern and incredibly well appointed. It was so comfortable and beautiful. The location was fantastic and Fabienne and Guy were extremely helpful in guiding us in our Mid-Pyrenes adventure. Everything about this property exceeded our every expectation. But, this review would not be complete if I did not really emphasize what amazing, wonderful and hospitable hosts Guy and Fabienne were. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend the evenings with them and their wonderful family and share wine, cheese, stories and lots of laughter with them. We fell in love with the De Blegiers family and cannot wait for our reunion. It is a magical place and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you, Fabienne and Guy for making our stay at your beautiful farmhouse so wonderful! You made his feel like family and we cannot wait to see you and stay at your lovely Mas again!
Cons: We were very sad we did not get to say goodbye to Jack, Fabienne and Guy's friendly chocolate Labrador. And our stay was far too short. These are the only things that could have been better!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, the setting is spectacular, and the breakfast is among one of the best I've ever had, notably in France.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property is gorgeous. Views are beyond amazing.
Cons: Limited food options after breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely decor. Excellent parking. Helpful receptionist on arrival. Good radio so that we could get good music since no TV ...not that we mind no TV since all in French.
Cons: Room very small although we were upgraded from economy class. Surly gruff cook accepted keys for room on our departure and very short with us when we asked a question. Not what was expected from a hotel of that calibre.
6.8 Good
Cons: The toilet is without seat
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, clean, spacious room. Very friendly and helpful stuff. Very nice swimming pool with a gorgeous view. Beautiful garden with animals. We were travelling with two babies so they gave us bigger room without asking to pay more. Very nice surprise.
5.8 Okay
Cons: For the price that we have paid for the family room the comfort level should be a little bit better (the toilet seat was missing, the bed matras was hard). The breakfast was also moderate, not a lot of choice.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in wonderful location with lovely view - we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back. Great air conditioning as well which is important in the summer!
Cons: I think it might be good to include breakfast in the room rate. It is in a very remote location so seems almost essential to have breakfast there and given the price you are already paying for the room, I think it makes sense to just include the breakfast. Just a thought!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Exquisite location just across from the village with a fantastic view. Nice swimming pool. Great breakfast.
Cons: No restaurant within walking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at the Hotel/Spa le Saint Cirq! The breakfast was delicious - the fresh-squeezed orange juice was a highlight. The staff was helpful, professional and friendly. This was our favorite accommodation of our 10 day trip to France!
7.5 Good
Pros: Very comfortable property with two lovely pools and a short drive into towns within the region.
Cons: Owner was a bit grumpy on our arrival, however that got better over the course of the stay.

Cons: wi-fi very weak or non-existent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Antione was a gem, very helpful and had a wide knowledge of the area and travellers needs. The stone cottage accomodation was just lovely for atmosphere and comfort in a rural location. The summer kitchen was a little walk from our room perhaps 100m but modern and spacious with excellent views, warm and all well stocked with appliances for any cooking needs. We bought our supplies before we arrived and just carried it all to the kitchen. Theres plenty of storage there. Walks are nearby and lovely towns to visit in the Lot. Very comfortable bed. Would highly recommend this.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was lovely and the summer kitchen building is nice. We made our own dinner and breakfast there. The property is very rural but we were able to find it quite easily. Owners are friendly and speak fluent English.
Cons: Wifi was weak in the room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this place was excellent, close to one of my all time favourite villages in France. The breakfast was delicious and the room was beautifully decorated with an amazing view over the countryside.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was very picturesque. The roads we took to get there from Limoges were very small and not fatal. In good repair. We thought we might have gotten lost. Very lovely when we got there!
Cons: As an older traveler, we are sorry that all the places we have stayed, do not have any shower or bathtub grab bars. Very unsafe.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a very old house with a lot of character. The room was spacious and clean with a nice view of the surrounding countryside. The lady who ran the place was helpful and lent us an umbrella in the evening as it was raining. She spoke some English. The breakfast was good.
Cons: There was no soap in the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old mansion, an easy walk from the bus stop. Gorgeous gardens and a very welcome swimming pool!! Unusual for Europe to have a kettle and tea and coffee in the rooms -fantastic!!. Rooms were very large and very authentic, with old beams and high ceilings. We shared breakfast with other guests around a large old table which was fun and our hostess Denise was just wonderful and very accomodating. We walked into St. Circ from there, a little way but we'll worth the effort.would thoroughly recommend the Maison.
Cons: Nothing, it was all great

7.0 Good
Pros: the accommodation was good value for money, and self contained so very private, everything you needed.
Cons: but it the sleeping area was rather cramped, and overall it felt too cluttered and small , but then we were only staying one night. I would not have liked to stay longer. Good for overnight stop.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was cosy and a bit out of the ordinary.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. A quiet and picturesque place to stay and very reasonably priced.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, the facilities were very good for families
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a quiet village but well placed for all our exploring. The breakfast was breads and jams so if you like something a little more substantial perhaps buy supplies. We cooked our own scrambled eggs. However, the gite we stayed in was amazing. Fabulous bathroom, very well equipped kitchen and so quiet. Grass to curl our toes in, outside seating and vibe that's a good few notches down from our usual daily routines! The dining room is such a treat. Old artefacts everywhere you look taking on different uses than were intended. We would definitely go back, it was very lovely.
Cons: A more varied breakfast with some meats and cheeses to accompany the bread at breakfast. There is the most wonderful local goats cheese that we would have loved with our bread :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
4.3 Okay
Pros: The property is situated in a calm place so you wouldn't experience disturbing noise at night.
Cons: The air in our room was very stuffy with an earthy smell and we were not allowed to open the window during the day to avoid insects getting inside. There was, in fact, a number of those things including some bug and a spider (see photos) The breakfast was disappointing - no eggs or cheese, only different kinds of bread, cereals and jam - a killing blow of carbohydrates. The hosts English communication skills are quite poor. The card terminal at the property didn't work so we had to pay in cash. Despite the fact, the card payment was specified as possible at booking.com
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicely decorated room with comfy beds! It had a nice yard with outdoor seating too and lots of space. The host was very nice and there was a great breakfast buffet. :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: quiet area. decoration of the room. close to Saint Cirq. big room. breakfast ok.
Cons: bed is a bit soft. my girlfriend loved that but for me it was a bit too soft.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very new and clean and spacious and quiet - and historical - free WIFI fairly good reception. Parking outside room and I enjoyed my stay here as a base for the area.
Cons: Administration with booking.com - charged for breakfast 3 months in advance then cancelled my room two weeks before departure without hotel knowing - had to rebook and was frustrating - refunded breakfast money and I never had breakfast at property.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Newly refurbished to very high standard and a bit quirky with a modern interior area where the bedrooms are and original areas in the main wing for breakfast/dining. I arrived cold and wet after a longish motorcycle journey so the underfloor heating was a godsend if you’ll pardon the pun! I called to say I was running a bit late because of the weather and the receptionist happily waited for me. Book dinner if you can because it’s in a small hamlet/village with no shops/restaurants but there is a very lively large village 5 miles away. An amazing place to stay and a real find!
Cons: Wish it had been made clear when booking there was no food available or nearby but that’s not really the convent’s fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed the brand new accommodations and the very quiet setting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good food, warm welcome
La Clé d'Escamps - Escamps - Building
9
9.4 Excellent (31 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our host was very friendly and helpful, even to the point of recommending a local restaurant and booking it for us. The property has been beautifully renovated and our room was a good size with a comfortable bed. We had visited St Cirq Lapopie during the day and the 40 minute drive to Escamps was well worth it to stay in this lovely property. Breakfast comprised lots of home made produce, including an apricot and lavender cake which was delicious. And if you stay at La Cle d'Escamps we can recommend Le Bistro d'Escamps, 5 minutes walk from the property.
Cons: Really there wasn't anything to dislike about La Cle d'Escamps but maybe include a cereal option and croissants in the breakfast. Information at the property suggested that we could have booked at a cheaper price by going direct.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find if you completely ignore Google maps. Beautifully renovated and charming hosts.
Cons: Google maps

Cons: Lack of air conditioning, very hot night.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location right across the bridge from the town. Nice pool. Easy parking. Decent wifi.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The quiet, peaceful country location with the small village of Concots nearby to buy any bread, have a drink or a complete meal.
Cons: The flies that go with a country location when eating any food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is one of the most beautiful b&b we have ever been. The location is extraordinary, on the country side. The personnel was very kind and helpful. The place was beautifully decorated with many cute details, and of course, all perfectly clean and the bed very comfortable. And the breakfast was more than delicious! The best experience in our road trip in France, so far
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts - a friendly family! It was very warm welcome in a great and cozy authentic countryside house!
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely location and good breakfast.
Cons: We knew the bathroom facilities would be shared, but hadn't appreciated how many other people might be staying. A separate toilet would have made things a little easier. Also, the request to put your used toilet paper in the bin was rather off-putting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old house in French contryside. Spacious room, big bathroom. Friendly owner, always smiling and helpful. Even spoke some english. I think all the French people were born with a smile on their face that could not be removed. Maybe surgically.
Cons: Hard to reach without a car, but nobody without a car will probably ever considering coming here, since its so secluded. Breakfast a bit basic (chunk of bread and some spreads) but that doesn't matter. It felt authentic. The spreads were probably home made. It's not a hotel, people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom was very big and comfortable. All the house is very well decorated, it has a very good vibe. The breakfast included a lot of delicious homemade mermelades.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Friendly and welcoming staff. Very convenient location, nice room with separate small terrace overlooking the pool/river. The pool was very welcome in the heatwave! The dinner was excellent and the choice at breakfast very impressive, using local produce and delicious home made preserves. Very handy to walk up the hill to Pech Merle in the morning.
Cons: We were in an annexe building, and it was while lovely inside the room, the outside needed a bit of love. (there were small bits of render on the terrace that had presumably fallen off the building!)

Pros: The hosts are excellent, very interesting couple. Wish them great success.
7.0 Good
Pros: The new owners are doing a great job working to improve this Hotel. They have only been there for a few weeks and seem to have good plans to make this Hotel a better place to stay.
Cons: The rooms are very basic with very little sound proofing so you could hear a lot of external noises from outside and adjacent rooms. The toilet was extremely small.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice garden and free activities. Very quiet place only 2 km to Saint Cirq.
Cons: Room was a bit chilly without the possibility to warm it up.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very friendly and hospitable. Loved the location.
Cons: I was on the ground floor near the front door to the hotel. The walls are very thin and I could hear noises from all directions. I could hear everything above me. I would recommend maybe requesting a room upstairs. I would also recommend maybe a fan in the room for noise as well as air flow.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly and helpful owner. Nice rooms, rural setting. Would recommend it for families. Kid play area outside and pool available outside.
Cons: Finner Food could be improved. Breakfast was very good.

6.8 Good
Pros: The view of the village of Cabrerets was dramatic with the cliffs on one side and the village along the bottom. It was very quiet at night with the village closing down soon after 10 pm. This was no problem for us.
Cons: We were disappointed the room wasn't serviced during our three night stay. We had to make our own bed each morning and the dust bin wasn't emptied at all.

We had the optional dinner which was delicious and ample in portions. Good wine and Cathy shared her home prepared delicious bitter orange apertif. Homemade panna cotta for dessert. Staying in Cabrerets was a charming bonus to our visit to the famous Pech Merle cave. Cathy gave great recommendations for other things to do in the area. This was a major highlight of our trip in France.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to St-Cirq-Lapopie. Nice pool and river access. Free parking. Good restaurant.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Bell tower bell too early and noisy
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff and restaurant
Cons: Room, damp smell and very dated. Wi fi didn’t work in the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic with excellent views from the hotel and access to great attractions within a reasonable distance. (However, if you wish to visit the caves at Grotte du Pech Merle consider booking in advance because when we arrived they were fully booked for two days.) The restaurant served good food and the staff were very friendly. The pool is excellent and the poolside bar very handy with incredibly friendly staff.
Cons: The weather was very hot and the fans provided did not cool the rooms sufficiently and sleeping was very difficult. Also, although I accept it was difficult for the hotel to control ,the number of flies in the restaurant made eating unpleasant - I was very much put off my evening meal when I found a fly had landed in my sauce and was trying to crawl under my confit duck! Perhaps they could consider some prevention measures? We asked for rooms with level access due to mobility issues which the hotel agreed to but all our rooms had stairs (not many but still difficult for someone using crutches to walk up/down) so not suitable. There were a considerable number of stairs to the restaurant.
6.3 Good
Pros: Riverside gorge location in tiny hamlet, a top tourist hotspot. Some staff were pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Bedroom was nicely presented, but very small. It is a large hotel with rooms located in a range of separate buildings, ours was across the road from the hotel. The stated hotel features/facilities were definitely an exaggeration on reality for our September visit; presumably defined as out of main season. Daytime staff on duty were few and hard to find. Enquiries in English were met with a dismissive wave. An attempt in broken French was ignored. Restaurant bill unreasonably high, presumably wrong, but not itemised so unable to reconcile. Initially charged for meals not taken, but once pointed out corrected.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was exceptional. Probably the best we have ever been to. The fish my husband had was lovely and my lamb was exceptional.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location on River adjacent to tow path 4 km beautiful walk to Saint-Cirq. Room and bed and bathroom were all excellent. Restaurant has large variety of delicious food. Breakfast is substantial and very good. Front desk and food service were truly outstanding.
6.3 Good
Pros: Private car park. Indian student staff charming.
Cons: Hotel seemed to be running down preparing to close for the season. Wifi cannot be used in bedrooms, reception area only. Menu needs to give consideration for vegetarian. Breakfast unimaginative. Senior management need to take responsibility for the issues arising from my negative comments; the staff on site were fine.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Every thing besides location. The staff were particularly rude and couldn't care less if they tried.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: a really nice location in a river gorge/next to a river in a tiny village; possibility to swim in a small pool overlooking the gorge, comfortable rooms
