9.5 Excellent (59 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire experience was fantastic. The area is beautiful, making for a wonderful drive to and from. We enjoyed our room and the adjoining bathroom was great too. More than spacious for the 3 of us. The provided breakfast was overwhelmingly delicious; our host even cooked up some fresh eggs for us, on top of the apple bread, apple compote, local cheeses, baguette, croissants, jams, butter, juice, milk, and coffee. We also had the opportunity to tour the farm and chat, learning about the horses and everything else. We would 100% recommend this place! If we ever get to go back to Normandy, we'll be staying here again.

Pros: Wonderful place
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful small hotel in the centre of town- everything is a walk away. The perfect base for exploring surrounding villages. Our group booked 3 rooms and each was lovely- the architecture, decor and collectibles made it a truly French experience- but with modern bathrooms! Breakfast was fabulous- baguette, croissants, ham, eggs, bread, yoghurt, juices, fruits etc and brewed coffee. Paul and Alma are superb hosts- they even drove us to our wedding venue when the taxis were booked out and ironed a dress! Cannot recommend staying here highly enough.
Cons: A longer stay.

Cons: Cold!

7.5 Good
Pros: Staff is very friendly and gave us advice what to visit and where to go. Relaxing place. Fresh air (county side).
Cons: Parking facilities could be better. When you arrive in the night - like we did - it's difficult to park your car there. An additional light will be welcome.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quirky, peaceful, clean air and the conviviality of the hosts. Food was home made. As a result of my distress call, Elizabeth had Yvon drive to us and we followed him via the best route to the premises. Yvon gave me a litre of petrol, next day and then Elizabeth and he led us in their car to the nearest fuel station (which was 9km away). These kind acts were beyond the call and were very much appreciated.
Cons: I did not find Chemin De La Sallette on Google maps. The premises were shown, but Google’s navigation tried to take my friend and me, who were on street motorcycles, with two attempts, to them via unmade, rocky tracks. I was very low on petrol and could not risk another sortie, so we mustered in town outside the Restaurant Le Tournebroche on the D4 and telephoned.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quirky quiet quaint. Fabulous hosts, welcoming and friendly and the meal and breakfast was great.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent

Pros: Evening meal delicious and good choices for children
Cons: Stopped serving meals at 20.30 but not very clear on website so hadnt booked-arrived just in time otherwise would have struggled as nothing for miles!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Basic accommodation but was expected for the price with everything we needed. Good shower but had to hold it.
Cons: Luckily the weather had changed as the room would have been very hot as there is no window.
7.1 Good
Pros: Every log cabin has one room only so the appearance of the cabin looked cool.
Cons: The room looked worst than photos. We think it's not hotel standard although it's called "HOTEL". The staff speak very little English so not convenient. No kettle and glasses in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was so lovely that I can’t find the words to describe it! The rooms are beautifully decorated, the views are astonishing - you see the stars when falling asleep and the first thing you wake up to is the view on the horse on the field ! Breakfast -WOW! we sat down in a traditional dining room with a chimney and the owner served us fresh local produce. We were beyond amazed and recommend this place to anyone! Super romantic!!!

Le Soleil D'or - Vimoutiers - Building
15
6.9 Good (100 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Le Soleil d'Or places you in the heart of Vimoutiers, a 1-minute drive from Musee du Camembert and 13 minutes from Coudehard-Montormel Memorial. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
4.6 Okay
Pros: (silence) - the bed linen was clean.
Cons: Just about everything! No toiletries - tired / hard towels - the bath was filthy (sticky) and the plumbing leaked (constant drip from failed valve) - the "flat screen tv" was the smallest I have ever seen. The place is long overdue for renovation / modernisation - shared toilet cupboards on a cold landing - this is a throwback to the 1960s (or beyond).
5.4 Okay
Pros: location & staff
Cons: No heating in large bathroom. Still using sheets & dirty old bankets. Pillows were just big hard lumps. Everything very tired & needed a spruce up. No spare electric sockets. Pipes going up in corner of room were rattling all night. No where to hang shower dead so you could have a shower, had to hold.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for accommodation. On site food poor
Cons: The restaurant attached to the hotel was poor for the price. The breakfast was minimal
7.1 Good
Pros: A pleasant somewhat old fashioned hotel, with a good restaurant and town centre location. Good value for money.
Cons: My room wasn't en suite - I was aware of this when booking, but it was quite a long walk to the bathroom
7.5 Good
Cons: Only one shared toilet and shower. Toilets mixed.
5.8 Okay
Cons: We paid for breakfast and were told there would be no one there but the bread and rolls would be left on the table for us to help ourselves and the coffee machine switch on. The coffee machine was switch on but there were no rolls or bread and the milk in the fridge had gone off. We were not very happy.
6.7 Good
Pros: Having arrived to find no way in and desperate for the toilet it was a bad start. The property is situated in the middle of a typical French village. The owner arrived and let's us in. To be fair she had just slipped out to pick something up. Having booked in and paid we found out that we had a shared bathroom. We had already had dialogue with Isolbel about the room on the first floor but with my wife being partially disabled we accepted as it was for one nigh. Everything creaked in this very old property and the facilities were very old and outdated. But to be fair there would be many people paying for this type of property to experience French living a century ago. The restaurant was excellent on all fronts from service, explanations in English of the food on offer, the excellent quality of the food and the price. To sum up: it was an interesting night with a very warm room, creaky furniture, noises we never found what they were and for one night at the price it was acceptable.
Cons: Very old property.
