The ambiance of the establishment was superb, combined wih the friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts, we could fault nothing.
clean, comfortable, good location
Minerva has the best breakfast that I've found during my vocations in Germany (Münster, Köln, Heidelberg, Freiburg and München) and Italy (Venice, Firenze and Rome)
Very convenient. Close to railway station. Quiet
staff, breakfast, character of building's architecture wish parking was closer and hotel-owned and free, but in center city that is not always possible. Not a major issue tho.
The hotel was very central and the room was very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. Excellent for a three-star hotel. The staff spoke English and went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming.
Cosy hotel, located in a quiet side street, less than a 2 minutu walk from the main station. Great breakfast buffet, and free wifi.
the breakfast is very good, and the people at the front desk are very nice and helpful!
Quiet and convenient location. Good breakfast buffet.
Good position. Very helpful and pleasant staff with excellent English. Breakfast fantastic.
economic hotel in a reasonable standard, rooms with balcony, restaurant in the same building (low prices) + heating in October
The staff was very kind and willing to help. The room was clean and big even though I've seen better arranged rooms. The place is absolutely quiet, until someone starts playing tennis in the morning on the nearby courts which is, however, a very faint sound. Mind that the streets nearby are poorly lit, if you ever want to have a walk after sunset. It's somewhat far from the city center so you'll have to take your car or the bus to go there.
The staff was very forthcoming. There were many children taking part in the sports activities outside, so the athmosphere was nice. The neighbourhood is very safe, even pretty. Good connections to the town's tramway. Smoker friendly. Coffee was good. It is really a sports complex, not a hotel and the rooms are just a rather poorly managed sidekick. The booking hadn't registered when I arrived, first they gave me a room that hadn't been cleaned up even if they gave me another quite soon. The breakfast was godawful.
The hotel was extremely gracious and the pool was clean and refreshing. Amenities and attractions are nearby and fascinating. I would like to organize a retreat for our staff at Warner Barracks (Bamberg) sometime
good price. I booked a single bedroom and they gave me a double. At least I have two duvet at the night. Otherwise it would be too cold. The resturant's food (Dinner) is average, but compared to British food, it's amazing. I didn't have breakfast because I think the price was too high. It makes me remember my university accommodation in a 30 year's old building. It took me a while to find the entrance. Didn't see any sign in English. Water is not very warm.
The return value for money was good enought. It was`clean, located around the center in car values ,( about 1.5 km ) . The breakfast was just excellent. The rooms are very small and poor designed. Curtain's width did not fit the width of the windows, and a shower room din't have a door but only a curtain.
The signage outside is very small and poor. As you cannot see the hotel as it is set back and hidden behind a sports hall it is difficult to find.
The location of the hotel, the helpful staff, and the very comfortable rooms. Difficulty getting to the hotel which is in the pedestrian zone. Even with GPS and hotel's instructions as to how to get to the hotel, it was not easy to find. In the older parts of cities with pedestrian zones, the streets can be very confusing. However, that would not prevent me from either recommending the hotel or in staying there again. Just a cautionary note.
The old world ambience and location, and the friendly attitude of the staff were my favorite points. I was very disappointed with the poor functioning of the internet connection from my room.
The ole fashin styled furnitures, breakfast and the environment of the hotel . The reception of the hotel was the different place from rooms.
The breakfast and the dinner were excellent. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the room in the corner was clean. There is the garage, but it’s better to reserve it in advance Describe in booking.com how to reach the hotel by car, when there is the market in the square. Was very difficult.
Great location by the old church plaza. There can be some city noise at night.
Staff were really friendly and location by the church was perfect. Room was also very comforable and loved the huge bed.
hotel staff and the help for everything that we received
Staff were extremely helpful, especially in walking with me to my car and guiding me to the hotel, as it is very difficult to reach by car, especially when the Munsterplatz is full of market stalls and shoppers. The room (#53) was large and overlooked the Munsterplatz.
the beakfast was excelent not accessible by car and distant from the parking place
location is perfect, on the Catedral square; the building is charming; food is very good; personnel very kind; room was excellent for 2 adults and 2 children.
Very good location (10 min from city centre), clean and warm room, excellent restaurant (suitable even for children), calm, no extra charges for children, renovated bathroom, very nice staff, good breakfast buffé Some food smell from the restaurant in the room, no ventilation
It was OK. Good restaurant It is a little far of the center of the city
Staff was great, room clean large comfortable, restaurant good, beer very good. A bit noisy till midnight.
Good location, friendly staff, able to enjoy food and drink either in the Biergarten or bar. n/a
Very kind staff, good location, excelent restaurant and beer, nice and clean room and good transport to the city center. All was excelent.
Friendly and helpful staff
Close parking. Older hotel. Not friendly.
It was a very charming hotel with an excellent standing. Good food, and with a yong staff, who is very kind and try hard to hide, when they are stressed in busy situations. I kan give this place my best recommendation, and I will prefer it to a place in the old town.
Handy location with easy public transport access. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was ok. Room was of acceptable size. Given teh cold winter, we appreciated the warm room with plentiful hot water. Window curtains do not block light from the room. This would be a problem in summer. Road access can be tricky the first time; it is easy to end up in a road tunnel on the b31 instead of the guesthouse.
Ideal location. The hotel also provides you with a travel pass for use on the tram and bus system. Very convenient.
the clealiness, the serenity
Excellent location to centre of town and parking No air conditioning required windows to be open on noisy street
Location is fantastic. Short walk to the public car-park and the downtown pedestrian area with shopping and restaurants. Very clean room. The exterior and the lobby looks charming but that doesn't translate into the style of the rooms which just looks dated. Staff could have been more friendly and welcoming but they were by no means offensive.
The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were beautiful.Excellent location.
nice atmosphere and good hospitality
the staff were very accommodating and pleasant the restaurant was excellent and busy with many local people dining ,the position of the hotel is great for exploring the city ,the car park is a safe public one near by and you have to walk approx 300 meters to the hotel
Location, convenience and service. Lack of a refrigerator in he room.
Beautiful building, beautiful location, very nice and helpful staff...the hotel is family owned and operated and it shows, lots of character and charm. It was a 2 minute walk to the entrance to beautiful forest walking trails beergarten and all. All guests get a free public transportation card (bus-metro-tram) which is really nice and pretty rare. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly reccomend it to everyone.
All the old part of the city was on your doorstep. The travel was free so we ust left the car in the car park and enjoyed the scenery.
Nice quiet room at the back of the hotel, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Wonderful setting and beautiful room with balcony. Dining terrace beside the stream, quiet and peaceful. Food delicious. No restaurant facility on Wednesday evening but good meal to be enjoyed in nearby hotel.
We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food was excellent as was the breakfast. Helpful staff. Probably an unfair comment but we stayed in a heatwave (36C) and our large attic room was very hot.
We had a lovely, very spacious room at the back of the hotel overlooking the little river with not one, but two balconies! The breakfast buffet was very good and the hotel was an old, very attractive, Black Forest style building. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the location. We had thought that we would be staying in a peaceful village in the Black Forest. Yes, it was a type of village but a very, very long one, stretching along the road for quite a way so that there didn't seem to be a real centre. Worse, the road going through (which the hotel was on) was very busy in the mornings and evenings which meant it was quite noisy. German friends of ours who stayed a night at the hotel had a bedroom at the front and said they found it difficult to sleep due to the traffic noise. Obviously this isn't the fault of the hotel but it does mean that we won't be going back again.
This is a very pleasant hotel, nice location. Especially noteworthy is the breakfast, which consists of a wonderful display of very tasty items.
Clean and big room even such a low price.
Peaceful setting....perfect for discovering 'The Black Forest Area'. The room (No1) was very comfortable and spacious and very good value for money. We were only passing through but a few more nights would have been very nice. Breakfast was superb and our hostess was delightful I'm unsure whether or not the Hotel Restaurant was open or not, so we ate at a superb hotel just up the road (albeit very expensive)
Located in a quiet village just a few kilometres from Freiburg, Hotel Schlossmühle is an ideal place for a stopover if you don't want the hassle of Freiburg itself. Reasonably priced, the room was spacious, with a large balcony overlooking a babbling brook, and the food was excellent. Parking and internet access were free.
A wonderful hotel, everything was very very good!!! Very nice room, very clean, comfortable and furnished in a so pretty style. Good and fresh breakfast, friendly staff. The hotel is also located in a idilliac small town, near to Freiburg, in the Black Forest, ideal to visit them. Fantastic! Dankeshoen! I will come back again surely. Nothing, everything was very very good.
Comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast each day. The restauraunt was also very good. The staff was very accomodating. It helped that some could speak English. The mattresses were hard and a little uncomfortable.
The hotel is very centrally located and has a municipal carpark only yards away. This is helpful in a caity where most hotels donot have car parks. The room was rather basic but still attractive. Breakfast was basic.
Location in centre of Freiburg No cleaning service in room, Very very old furniture, terrible condition of Bathroom, Breakfast was served in very small portions and all extra should be asked for. Every morning workers started very loud construction work at 100 mtrs from hotel (be warned for the next couple of weeks!!!)
A very good breakfast, clean rooms. It was good! It was a very hot week and the windows did not all open for better ventilation.Disappointed that someone was not available when we arrived to direct us to what there was to do in Freiburg. Even brochures available would be better.
The staff was very helpful. Our unit was large and lovely. Wonderful breakfasts were served to us with hot and cold choices. There was also fresh fruit and water in the room. It was somewhat noisy at night because our room was on the front of the hotel. So if you need quiet, a room at the back may be better.
The location in Freiburg is super! It was barely more than the equivalent of staying in someone's spare room. Not particularly welcoming or comfortable.
I liked the location.Being the hotel in the Altstadt, you are inmediately downtown and can walk around the Altstadt. The bed and the smell in the corridor and elevator.
Kind personnel and very good food ! Poor bed quality
The location and staff were helpful. It looks tired and is overpriced for what you actually get. I was expecting more in terms of facilities and luxary.
Friendly very central hotel in the best part of the city.
Friendly service, home-like atmosphere, and historical building. Nothing really negative but there ought to me more carpets in the room since the floor was made out of white tiles.
friendly and very helpful
Good breakfast. Attentive manager.
Room and Hotel were clean. Breakfast Buffet was acceptable but nothing special. Service was poor. No reception. Mini-Bar was defect. Restaurant and bar were both closed at 21:30 Uhr.
The room is large, clean and comfortable enough. The selection of TV channels could be larger, though. The price/performance ratio is good. We arrived at 11:30 PM, and the hotel was closed shut. There was no one at the reception desk to let us in. We had to scream our way in, only to be informed that "we should not arrive so late" - where was that stated? After all, this claims to be a *tourism hotel*! After we explained that there was *no mention* in the booking system of any need to call if one is arriving later than a certain time, the lady at the reception desk apologized and tried to make amends - and she was honest about it. It was, nevertheless, a really frustrating experience.
Friendly and warm atmosphere.
The food served was excellent. The staff were competent and generally helpful. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Breakfasts were very good. Bathroom, bath was incredibly small and only hand held shower
We liked the art and paintings of the hotel.
It is much better inside than it looks from the outside. The rooms were spacious and, despite the proximity to the railway line, the soundproofing worked well. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, especially for us who speak English and a bit of German. External appearance during the late afternoon in Autumn wasn't very attractive.
I actually stayed here for work and though it was a long drive to where I worked I love the hotel the staff were very helpful if they could be and the rooms was huge........the only thing I would want to think about as a visitor is that whilst the reception staff do speak english very well the rest of the staff have a little, for me this was ok my german is passable enough to cope, oh and the menu for food is only in german so brush up folks....if you get past that littel problem you will love it and the food is simply fantastic in the evenings!
Rooms were in separate buildings...I had ordered 2 rooms so expected them to be nearby. The hotel did not answer my question on booking.com about how to get there. It took us an hour of walking up and down hills to find it.
Very nice nature, quiet place, comfort rooms, swimming pool
excellent location for a relaxing holiday the only disadvantage is that it is not easy to reach as we where visiting a fair in basel.
The view from the room is great, the breakfast excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful (charming ladies)
The service and the view of Freiburg! The room is a little bit small.
Everything! the staff, food , facilities, room, view The walk up the hill!
Very peaceful No information in English, so could not successfully navigate round the room service menu or understand what the hotel had to offer. No information on excursions.
Comfortable room, with clean bathroom. Stayed at this hotel before, but this time room was looking a bit run down and tired. Recommend some renovation. Everything cost extra WIFI, breakfast, etc...
very small washroom,
Nice hotel with lovely views
Hotel's location was convenient. It was within walking distance to all the shops. Parking was ample. And the breakfast buffet was excellent.
Very good location. Although has no private parking, has a direct lift to the Hotel and also special price. Variable breakfast also for a vegan.
Great desk staff were very helpful. Didn't have tea and coffee facilities.
modern and clean
Staff was really nice. My request had been taken into account (quiet room). Room confortable Breakfast was really expensive (15 euros); I am not sure but I think TV was not free also.
centrale ligging, goede parkeer mogelijkheid internet 9 euro per dag
Every Thing........WOW This is the perfect hotel Nothing
Helpful hotel staffs. Whenever I asked some questions to him, he always tried to answer and response. When I asked a recommendable restraunt for dinner, he suggested me 3 restraunts and one of them I chose was excellent!
The hotel is very pleasant and clean
Great location in centre of town, just down street from the Munster. Car parking beneath (extra). Expensive i'net. Room a bit cramped for 3 adults in a triple.
room, hotel staff
This was a really well-designed modern hotel -- spacious, comfortable, smart without being suffocating. Great outside bar-lounge under shelter. And it's an easy short walk (5 mins) to the Muensterplatz and its daily morning market (which is fantastic) and the heart of this lovely, lovely small city. The hotel parking was a problem. Despite having reserved a place, the gates were stuck, and there was a palava. In the end, we parked on the street in front of the hotel which is cheaper (8€ per day) and perfectly safe.
It was very close to the town centre Matresses were strange foam and a bit uncomfortable, overall a bit pricey
Mooi klein hotel, vlak bij het centrum, comfortabele kamers
Very good value for money. Excellent breakfast and dinner.
Very quiet, yet near to the centre of Freiburg Just a small niggle- I never know why hotels of of this kind cannot supply bigger bath towels. we stayed at a b&b in France on the way back and they had lovely big towesl. Obviously it costs more to wash bigger towels but I do think it is stingy.
The hotel is very new (we stayed at august 2009). Restrooms very clean and new and the room was very modern-design. Breakfast a little expensive (12.5€/each) but quite good. Very near the city center (5 min. walking). To park in the surroundings at the street you have to pay from 9 to 19: 0.40€/15min with a maximum of 8 euros/day.
Close to the city center, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere at the hotel and the bar/ breakfast room. Sure, you have to pay 12.50 euro per person for breakfast, but it was the best breakfast buffet we had seen in long time.
The location was very nice, and the decoration was interesting. The spaghetti dish was very bad. The spaghetti must have been cooked from days before.
Very attentive staff
I like to stay at this hotel when I come to visit friends. It is convenient for transport links and is only a short walk to the city centre. It is comfortable and the staff have always been helpful and pleasant.
reception very good. big room. clean and good location
good breakfast buffet, very nice staff, very helpful with answering of questions, location is great to get to a lot of areas in town.
room size & facilities Breakfast buffet excellent only 1 small pillow provided on beds swimming pool not very warm
Convient to town center and transportation The bed pillow was poor.
located near train station hotel is located in a neighbourhood where too many drunks hangout during night. hotel management would if possible take necessary action to least avoid having drunks / junkies in vicinity of hotel (500 sq.m around hotel). Hotel room interior is good but not well maintained, the room we stayed had a missing lamp shade, water was leaking from shower outlet. The swipe cards we received for room didn't work on first attempt, corridors do not have intercom, hence I had to leave luggage at door of room & go all the way to reception to have the swipe cards fixed.
location is excellent ovar all is good hotell
good price, good place to visit the city between business trip price for WLan too expensive. Nowadays, it should be free in such hotels category
rooms are clean , fresh and large in size the unavialablity of airconditioning..and it was little hot..hotel staff did supply us with fans ..that was nice from thier side
location is great Hotel Staff + service are not good
We were at this hotel for only one night but found it very comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet was very good. We had trouble with the free wi-fi internet when we first arrived but the staff made the corrections to their proxy server and it worked fine in the evening and following morning.
Wonderfully nice staff and owners. Small and friendly hotel that was very comfortable for a woman traveling alone. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent. A bit further away from Freiburg than I had imagined. I came to explore the city, I found going back and forth by tram was more trouble than I had imagine. The hotel was also a bit further away from the Strassenbahn (street car/tram) than I had thought. I had a stupid-big suitcase with me that was fairly difficult to manage over the distance. One of the hotel staff was kind enough to give me a ride back to the tram when I left. The room was simply furnished--but perfectly fine for the price range.
The hotel was great and very easy to find. The setting was just right for our needs, there was even a play place in the back for our son. The rooms were very clean and had the best shower (great water pressure) we've experienced in Europe!
A very nice hotel with excellent food.
Good restaurant, a little bit expensive Vey difficult to find
Cracking place and beautiful breakfast . But Restaurant is closed Monday. There is a very classy restaurant up the road in which we ate, but on this occassion we just wanted simple not gourmet
everything was definitely fine; particularly high mark for breakfast
Excellent breakfast selection, friendly staff, nice balcony, and new bathroom.
Convenient location and easy to find. The staff was very helpful and breakfast very good
We were very impressed with the hotel. Very nicely decorated, traditional Austrian chalet. Our room was fantastic. huge, balcony, could have danced in the bathroom. My daughter is 3 and she had a double bed!! We travelled all through Europe and this hotel was definately the best we stayed in.
friendly service; nice setting/building; value for money street noice
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, nice sauna area (three different saunas)
Friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosfere. Quiet location, dood access to motorway. Excellent breakfast, nice dinner. Comfortable bed.
Very comfortable with good facilities (parking, restaurant, clean room, internet access). Breakfast was excellent. Not a cheap hotel but worth its price.
enjoying our demi-pension no
The local wine and restaurant were excellent. Service very good. I mentioned to the staff on the front desk that the art in our our bedroom was inappropriate. Not for a hotel room but perhaps for someone's private home and taste.
The location- near Freiburg and also convenient for the autobahn. Great also for 3 restaurant options on site and lovely atmosphere for an evening supper. Helpful restaurant staff.
Outstanding quality of physical appearance. Very hot in upper room. Better choose lower rooms.
