Absolutely fabulous location right in the centre between the square and the port. The place itself was like a charming cottage, beautiful and quirky with just the right amounts of squeaks and old-worldliness. The breakfast like everywhere else in France was amazing and the host was very attentive. She is very friendly and chatty and was more than happy to do anything that we needed. We had a dog with us who absolutely loved the owner which was great and the place had a beautiful garden full of flowers. It was also surrounded by little shops and galleries perfect for exploring.
It didn’t bother us, but it is located on a steep hill. You have to walk up multiple times a day so it may be difficult for some people.
An amazing location & with a garden to relax in after busy days. Truly wonderful host with lots of excellent advice about the local area.
Situated near ramparts at top of the hill, a bit of a climb but well worth it
Comfy bed, clean, beautiful place to visit but I would stay in th new part of town where it is more flat, then visit the old part we’re you can choose to go uphill or not!
Totally unsuitable for anyone who is not physically fit ,on a very steep cobbled hill. Car parking hard to find and too far away. The road where it is, is only accessible for access to properties. The owner asked us if we had an automatic or manual as it apparently more difficult coming up the hill in a automatic.
The owner (Marine) was so nice and super helpful. Loved the breakfast. We stayed in a perfect room for a family of 4 -- with history and charm. It was like being in Beauty and the Beast opening our shutters onto the main street. Location was great -- on the main street into town just outside the city wall. You do have to walk up a big hill to get into the city center, or down an even bigger steep hill to get to the port along the Rance, but it worked great for us. My kids loved the garden and the cats in the garden. Given that the room we stayed in was 500 years old, it's not surprising that ceilings were a bit low for my 6'4" husband, but just be aware that there is low clearance.
See discussion of the steep hill above.
