Would stay again
Hotel staff were very pleasant and hotel was nicely modern and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. No gym on site but gives free pass to rec center. Liked the coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies in the lobby. Good value and good for families headed up to the slopes!
Clean, comfy, offline
The room itself was super clean and nice, I don't get to stay in hotels this nice often so that was fun. There is one good taco/burrito spot to eat nearby, but otherwise the location is pretty barren.
Internet was too slow to be useable. Couldn't even load heavy webpages or open email with images in it. Opened a speed test and download rate never got above 500Kbps, up below 80Kbps with a ton of packet loss and latency. The SNR was fine so it wasn't wifi reception, just a really crappy network in the hotel or terrible ISP I think. I'm guessing most people going to Durango are embarking on an outdoor adventure of some sort, and hotel internet speed isn't a huge deal to them. But I work in tech and had to jump online to deal with problems a couple times, and had to flee the hotel to try and find somewhere with useable internet instead it was so terribly slow. This wasn't super fun at 2am, and they charged me $5 a day for this horrible internet, so I think it's worth griping about. Again most people are on vacation and probably won't care (hey maybe it's good if the kids stop watching youtube for the weekend :), but if you need to get online AT ALL you should avoid this hotel.
Great stay
This property is very well maintained. It is immaculate, the staff is friendly and helpful. Enjoy a worry free trip here
Great Value
The room was updated and clean
The room location view was terrible but only there 1 night.
Hampden Inn
Fresh cookie in the lobby.
Where the toilet paper was mounted in the bathroom.
Great family hotel
All of the staff were extremely friendly. The hotel was pretty much full but there was plenty of parking and the hotel was quiet. There was plenty of seating for the free breakfast and they had different items out on different days so it didn't get boring, and compared to other similar type hotels, the food was better. The room was very clean and updated. Plenty of outlets to plug in all our phones, ipads, etc... I'd stay here again.
The pool is salt-water, which is nice, but was a bit cloudy. Kids didn't mind it though. The hotel is on the north end of durango, not really within walking distance of any shops or dining. Beds were a bit firm for my taste but my wife said it was the best bed she slept on this trip. No excercise facilities on site but they give you a pass to a rec center. I didn't go so I don't know how far of a drive away it is.
Refuge from a storm
We could not leave Durango because of a rare snowstorm and the staff easily extended our stay and made our "captivity" easy to bear. The rooms were lovely and the price was right which made the extra day less of a burden
A great stay
I was impressed with this hotel. Very clean and organized from staff to the smallest details. Breakfast was great with a large selection of choices to eat. Beds were very comfortable. In truth, there is nothing I can complain about regarding the hotel, rooms, staff, or anything of REAL concern.
The only negative was that the hotel was a little removed from downtown Durango.
Nice rooms that were modern. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. We had a front desk clerk who recommended the best Mexican restaurants in town and the ones to avoid.
Don't leave any clothes hanging on the hook on the bathroom door. You're bound to forget about it when it's time to check out.
The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable.
The Hampton Inn Durango was conviently located to downtown Durango. It had a nice indoor pool and hot tub that was a favorite of my daughter. The hot breakfast was also a plus.
Bathroom counterspace was limited.
A very pleasant comfy and restfull halt after a long journey trip. An experience which make us looking forward other hotels of that chain.
