Pros: Service great People great Breakfast great Gardens and natural area great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was gorgeous, Evening meal was lovely but menu a little limited for our liking. Setting is wonderful and I would love to go back when the gardens are in full colour
Cons: Although the hotel is gorgeous it is very expensive to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful service, very personal and helpful. A quality venue, and it showed in everything they did.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredible and trained to perfection. Always a smile, a pleasant greeting and an offer of assistance. I can’t go on enough about how sincere and helpful everyone was. The rooms are elegant in a classic way. There are no better or more comfortable beds. The food in the main dining room was out of this world and presented as a work of art. You don’t need to leave the Manor House and it’s beautiful gardens. Besides the main dining room, as a guest, you can order delicious food from a lighter menu in several classic sitting area when it suites you. The garden is filled with intimate seating areas for a peaceful retreat. Who could ask for more! We have booked for next year and can’t wait to go back.
Cons: Nothing could have been better. It is perfection.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Magnificent building and grounds
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: location and food
Cons: -Overcharged by £750 pounds - Didn't like the 12.5% "discretionary" service charge. Who is going argue about that at the front desk on check out? A con.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous food, fabulous setting and gardens , very comfortable room and lovely staff . We were celebrating my husbands birthday and had a wonderful stay.
Cons: We loved everything.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The room and sitting areas and surroundings/ garden were beautiful.
Cons: Staff at front desk check in weren’t that friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it all. The room, the castle, the grounds. Loved playing snooker late at night, loved strolling the castle grounds in the early morning before it opened to the public.
Cons: The Henry VIII pub across the street is a remote rural pub, so you might think you can drop in without a reservation, but the place was packed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Molton Brown toiletries Comfy bed Scenic grounds
Cons: Lack of evening meal on-site, although we were aware of this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was amazing. Everything about the place oozes thoughtfulness and luxury.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellently appointed with an incredible bathroom. One of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in, we could have stayed in it for days! The receptionists were all incredibly attentive particularly Jerome and Steve. Staying on the grounds of Hever Castle is also very special.
Cons: The only down side was the young team serving breakfast in our dining room obviously deciding they wanted to knock off early and rejecting us for breakfast half an hour before it finished! But back to the excellent receptionists who immediately reseated us without any fuss and granted us late checkout to apologise for the inconvenience.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The whole experience
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I requested a bottle of wine on arrival and this was no problem at all. The staff are helpful and friendly, the breakfast was to die for !!! Extremely relaxing time celebrating my husbands 40th.
Cons: The only thing I would mention is the beautiful mirror in the bathroom sink could do with a deep clean as has lots of toothpaste splatters from previous guests.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice bathroom. Very beautiful breakfast room.
Cons: I know it is a B&B, but I did miss the possibility of having dinner on location (I did know this in advance, so it wasn't a surprise). The Moat Cafe offers hot food till 15.00, but that consists of 3 choices. Walking or driving to the closest pub isn't always an option. Also the written request in the informationbook not to bring take away or meals to the room is a bit silly in my opinion. The single room Catkin is quite small (it even has a smaller sized TV than the other rooms and no wardrobe) and I found 125 € a bit too much. But I understand Hever is all about location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to the Edward V11 suite it was absolutely amazing but then the whole experience was second to none
Cons: Going home!
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast with many choices
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This luxury b&b was everything and more that I expected. The room was beautifully appointed and the bed extremely comfortable, with luxury bedding. Added to this the fabulous surroundings of Hever Castle, entry to which is included in the price, and a wonderful breakfast, I would definitely recommend a stay here.
Cons: Nothing!!

5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was great (and included). Carmel was sweet, chatty, and fun. Free "shuttle" (one of the hosts) to the airport.
Cons: Room was on a VERY busy street, host was VERY grumpy when we arrived (our train from London was delayed). I can see how this profession would grow very tiresome so I don't begrudge him for being such a grouch but still, it didn't leave a good taste in our mouth after what was otherwise a lovely holiday in the UK.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, efficient room conveniently located near the Gatwick airport in the neighboring town of Horley. Made-to-order breakfast was delicious. Hosts picked us up and delivered us back to Gatwick airport. The B&B is a 10 minute walk into Horley town with a variety of restaurants.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Maple Manor Hotel was a beautiful structure that was well maintained. Our room was quite clean with a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. Staff was friendly and the continental breakfast included was free, which was good for a light snack in the morning. My husband and I stayed overnight once which meant we had free parking available. A taxi to Gatwick North Terminal was £8 one way (took approximately 10minutes to get there, if so much) which was cheap in comparison to Uber. We would definitely stay there again when we’re flying from Gatwick as it’s an affordable and comfortable room that’s near to the airport.
Cons: The room was on the smaller side but we were only staying overnight so it was fine for our needs. (Just letting readers know what to expect.) Our taxi which they ordered for 8 30am came at approximately 8 45/50am. We had put in the request when we checked in the previous day. While it may not have been at any fault of Maple Manor Hotel, it’s best to book your taxi a bit earlier than you plan to so you won’t be rushing about at the airport. (We we’re still on time for the flight.)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We arrived at 11.30pm after a cancelled Gatwick flight. The receptionist was welcoming and even helped take luggage upstairs. He was still present and smiling as we left at 6am the next morning. The hotel is just a 15 minute taxi drive from the North Terminal.
Cons: As am older style mansion, there are no lifts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and convenient

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place. Downtown Abbey in real life!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Pillows and bed were very comfy. Grounds of the hotel are beautiful and staff were really friendly and helpful.
Cons: The price of the drinks was a shock. The food in the evening was reasonable in my opinion as it was a 5 course and was extremely tasty for £42.50 a head. However brought 2 gin and tonics and cost £27. Also asked for water for the table with our meal and got given a bottle rather than a jug which we were then charged over £5 for. Expected an expensive stay as the room wasn't cheap and the sort of setting you are in. However the price of the drinks at the bar has put me off returning. My advice.... Take your own drink with you to keep price down.

The Dorset Arms Cottages - Hartfield - Building
13
9.0 Excellent (162 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Hartfield, The Dorset Arms Cottages is within a 15-minute drive of Ashdown Forest and Queen Victoria Hospital. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Surroundings very nice. Staff very good and helpful. Breakfast very good and bed comfortable, lovely bathoom!
Cons: A shower curtain and rubber mat in bathroom would be a good idea!
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was cosy but comfortable and it's in a great location. Other than the carpet cleanliness was good.
Cons: The hall carpet is disgusting and needs a thorough clean. This wouldn't normally bother me too much but it provided access to the only bathroom. There was no soap for hand washing in the bathroom (which included the toilet) so I had to use shampoo. It would have been handy to have access to a bathroom cleaning product too as not all guests were 'clean' with using the facilities at night. The sink in the bedroom was cracked.
5.0 Okay
Cons: much worse than what pictures show on the website.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: So yummy - amazing service, they even made me a bacon sandwich when I had to leave really early
Cons: nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: Bed very comfy and lovely view over the grounds. Excellent shower. Very nice and clean.
Cons: Only downside was being woken many times in the night from noisy guests. Which would put me off booking this place again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely pub. Good location. Great food.
Cons: We booked late, so had rooms over the bar. They were not great rooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff did everything they could to help
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All was fantastic. Loved the room and the setting. Particularly liked the warm welcome from Lyn (sp?) as well as from the waitresses who looked after me at dinner and breakfast. Also really appreciated the spot in a well-lit corner for my solo dinner, and the good lighting for my breakfast. Oh, and I loved the pine bath stuff in the bathroom - haven't had that since my childhood!
Cons: I hadn't done my homework properly and thought that the Dorset Arms was IN Groombridge (I'm sure either booking.com or its own website said that). So was a bit disgruntled with the 3 mile walk from Groombridge. But it turned out to my advantage because I changed my walking plans for the next day and stayed in the Withyham area and was able to explore and enjoy the fascinating church and fabulous Buckhurst Park.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This B&B is perfectly located, being only 10 minutes from Gatwick. It's well set up for receiving guests coming from the airport. We arrived at 11 pm, and were able to check ourselves in with no issues. Breakfast was good, with fresh coffee, yogurt, pastries, toast, jams, fruit, etc... No one went hungry! The hosts, Tony & Linda, were great; they were extremely friendly and helpful, and we had a few minutes of great conversation with them. Linda was so kind as to call a cab for us, and went out of her way to make sure that it arrived on time. Unfortunately, we only had a few hours to spend there, but between the comfortable beds, friendly hosts, good breakfast, and a beautiful church & cemetery that was part of our morning walk, Gatwick House was perfect for us!

Pros: The free collection and return to Gatwick airport was excellent and well organised with all the information about freephone and telephone number arriving by email. It is a family run hotel and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We were advised to reserve a table at the nearby 'pub' which we did and where we had a delicious evening meal. The breakfast was excellent and the conservatory very pleasant for relaxing in.

7.9 Good
Pros: Quiet, good location, friendly&helpful owners, good bed
Cons: Low water pressure for shower Very small bathroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location near centre of East Grinstead - took around 8-10 minutes to walk. Breakfast very good with plenty of choice. Comfortable bed and good night's sleep. Friendly and helpful proprietors.
Cons: No complaints, just some observations and advice. Our room on the 2nd floor had a sloping ceiling - not good if you are tall - and it was very easy to bump your head. I am just over 5ft 1in tall and still managed to do this until I got used to the lower ceiling on one side of the room. Also, there are 4 lots of stairs to climb to get to the 2nd floor (no lift), so not recommended for anyone who struggles with mobility. If I stayed here again, I would ask for a 1st floor room. The cost of breakfast is charged separately, so be aware of this; however, breakfast was very good and worth what we paid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent B and B everything you could need.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great for my work trip stay with parking on site and close to where I was working the next day
Cons: A refurbishment would be an improvement
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Uncooked breakfast choice was very good, lots of fruit! Location was peaceful and walkable to town centre. Nice welcome and good facilities including shower cap and alarm clock! Felt very safe for single person.
Cons: Tray seal in shower cubicle needs attention but otherwise the shower was nice and easy to use.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host was lovely and friendly, got tea and coffee in the room which is always nice. The owners have gone above and beyond by supplying a booklet with all the restaurants nearby as well as supplying the names and menus for the takeaway restaurants that will deliver.
Cons: The furnishings are a bit out dated and the bathroom in quaint.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner very accommodating in terms of late check-in and giving us a safe parking place with our bikes.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable. They had parking. I hadn’t realised they had a 10 o’clock check out (however they kindly let us extend to 11 o’clock due to us attending a wedding which didn’t start till 1pm)
Cons: Very very outdated, old fashioned, tired decor. Room was very small and I had to duck and walk sideways to get into the bed). Tiny bathroom. Too much furniture in the room (including two dining room chairs with cushions on in front of the bed?!)
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: The shower had no power it was terrible.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was lovely, the location was excellent for me.The breakfast room was lovely.
Cons: I am only 5 feet in height and I found the Attic room was uncomfortably low in ceiling height. Also, the ensuite was ridiculously small. I had to leave the door open to be able to stand in front of the sink to wash my hands. I also thought it would have been nice to have had a jug or bottle of drinking water in the bedroom. I had to get up during the night to boil the kettle, let it cool so I could drink the water. Apologies for the negative comments!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance from the train and conveniently placed for a London getaway, this hotel proved a lovely stay with the restaurant below, the only source of entertainment at this end of the small town. Families will be pleased to know that the restaurant back patio shuts down at 10pm to allow for hotel guests not to be bothered.
Cons: I can't think of anything, this was a great little place! The lack of airflow without opening windows could be a problem in warmer weather as the windows opened to the patio.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay, room clean bed comfortable. Staff friendly and make you feel at home. the food is excellent breakfast was well cooked and done to order. The evening menu is varied and well worth the money. Will be returning to this well run Gothic delight again! 10/10

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff (mainly young) were friendly and attentive. Cooked breakfast, freshly prepared, was good; plenty of choice and well presented, with tea/coffee offered.
Cons: Slightly "rough & ready" at breakfast-time! Missed cereal on first morning, as it wasn't obvious and no-one pointed it out; request for toast & marmalade seemed to cause surprise - but was then produced readily.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. Room was huge. Strong wifi, great surroundings and helpful staff.
Cons: Room only had a bath with shower head which was disappointing given the size of the bathroom. Minor point though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is very close to Gatwick - around 10 to 15mins in the car. The environment was very quiet and relaxing, not to mention beautiful. Oh and they have Guiness on tap
Cons: Lights outside the room were not on when trying to enter the room at night, made thing a little difficult to open the door - small issue. Maybe lights on a photocell or movement sensor would be handy. A stand to hold the shower head incase you want a standing shower.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed room. Extra king-sized and very comfortable bed. Fully en suite large bathroom. Inn dated back to 17th century with old beams and great ambience. Staff were super-friendly and professional. Had breakfast and dinner over 3 days. Food and service were excellent. Garden with outside dining possible. Ample free car parking. Many sites of interest nearby and also close to Gatwick Airport (15 minutes).
