Overview Reviews
When it comes to a relaxing vacation, there are few places in the world that can provide the level of relaxation found on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Mazatlan is one of the legendary Mexican resort cities and for good reason. For generations, this town has provided tourists with timeless Mexican hospitality, it’s the perfect place to escape the rat race. One of the best places to stay is the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort Spa. When relaxing at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort Spa, you’ll immediately have your worries taken away by the fabulous views of the Pacific. Each suite comes with incredible views that when described as breathtaking is underselling. Strolling around the bay and taking in the different fishing, golf, and other recreational activities is a must in this resort. With a staff dedicated to ensuring that you have everything taken care of, there’s no choice but to relax here. Dining is something that everyone should do in Mexico – the culinary scene in this country is one of the best in the world. There are several in-house dining options. The Sunset Grill serves fresh Mexican cuisine including seafood from 10 am – 6 pm. The Emerald Grill is ideal for smaller bites. Many guests love The Bistro because of its international flavors. La Cordeliere has an excellent view to match the international food. Angelo’s Gourmet Restaurant serves classic Italian fare and the Aquabar is perfect for poolside eats. There’s no better way to get away from it all than booking a stay at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort Spa.
6.0 Good
Pros: So BEAUTIFUL , clean perfect if you just want to relaxfar away from
Cons: Is to far you need a car for everything
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The room and rest of facilty was very nice
Cons: You needed to go elsewhere to access a viable beach
6.8 Good
Cons: Great resort facilities, but a 90 min. time share intro turned into 3 plus hours! Mazetlan and the surrounding area are interesting, so the 45 min. ride into the historic center of town is a bit of a pain. If you're looking for an all inclusive veg-out resort it's fine.

4.8 Okay
Pros: Beach location was good, but very overcrowded when I was there.
Cons: I was there with the business colleague for a business trip and was highest price hotel in Mazatlan. When I found my room was not on the beach side hotel, we paid and upgraded to rooms on the beachfront hotel. However, we found out it was only one bedroom suite room they wanted to put us in. When I went to get a second room, they made me pay an up charge again. I truly felt that it was a scam to keep getting more money out of me. This whole process took 1.5 hours to check in and was very frustrating. Facilities are very dated and not completely clean like newer hotels would be. The pool area and beach was very crowded while I was there. There was no room to grab a chair. It was more an old vacation time-share place, than a quality business hotel. Some place like the Ramada would have been a better choice and $100 cheaper. I had stayed at the W in Mexico City for the same price as this and it was in a whole other level. If I was to compare the 2, El Cid would have to be a 1 or 2 out of 10. They may charge these higher prices to compensate for the timeshare people that do not provide enough cash flow.

9.7 Excellent
Pros: We had a great Ocean view room. The friendly staff were very nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Italian Dinner Restaurant has pretty good food. Pools are very nice and I believe they are salt water pools. No more smelling like chlorine or burning eyes. Activities are good
Cons: The only bad thing about this hotel is that they ask for your bracelet number for everything, which slows down the process to get anything. Instead of going straight to the bar and ordering a drink, you have to wait in line behind people ordering food, in order to order a drink. Need to start a scanning process in order to speed up things.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved staying at this hotel and I felt completely at home. Room with the ocean view is amazing. Private beach area for those staying at the hotel. Complimentary breakfast buffet is great but get there early. Staff is amazing. This hotel also has many activities for guests. I would suggest to book their all inclusive package. I enjoyed their "Viva México" show at their theatre. I did not get to enjoy the pools because you have the beach right at you doorstep however the pools did look very nice. All in all I cannot wait to go back!
6.2 Good
Pros: Pretty view from our beachfront room.
Cons: Everything is by the book. Not a good, fun feeling. They have the cruise crowd in which overtakes the whole resort- obnoxious. The lovely pool pictures on the website is freezing. The pools that are warm are trashy.

6.5 Good
Pros: I loved the location of the hotel. Right on the beach and loved that 3 of the el cid hotels are on the same property so many pools to choose from. Right next to señor frogs which has open bar on Wednesday and Friday which is so fun!
Cons: Very loud. Under construction?? Can hear everything.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is their biggest asset for sure.
Cons: Well the loud speaker for the pool activities was a little overboard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First time we've ever stayed here, or in any 'All-inclusive' type stay. The food was very very good, the staff did their best to make our stay a memorable one. The staff always seems to be fixing, cleaning, arranging, or just looking over the entire complex. It was so fun exploring all of the many pool areas, restaurants, and hide-a-ways throughout the property. We only left to go on a City Tour, which was a lot of fun, and to walk the beach and to check out the calle in front of the hotel. It's so fun to not have to worry about how much any of the food or drink costs; you simply belly up to the bar and place your order! What fun!
Cons: One of the main problems we had with El Cid was the lack of modern Wi-Fi! I mean, any where these days should have fast *free* and reliable Wi-Fi. I couldn't believe that they wanted $10 an hour(!) for a single device. In this day and age, this is unacceptable! Since I refused to pay for that I can't say how fast or reliable the Wi-Fi was. I had to burn up my own phone data. They do have two computers in the lobby to use but the keyboards are cheap, old, and in sad condition. Come on El Cid, step up to the 21st century!
5.0 Okay
Pros: They are always cleaning! Necessary when you are right on the beach, but still impressive. Constant sweeping. The A/C worked well in my room, but not in my friends' room. Although the beds were hard, they managed to be very comfortable for me. Several English tv channels. It is right on the beach! Nice to be able to just walk right there and also to have the view.
Cons: NOISY! I had a room overlooking the pool, but also the beach. My room had very little insulation from the noise on the beach (bands) or down below (poolside entertainment) OR next door (through the adjoining door). In fact, every afternoon, my room also smelled like frying food from the pool restaurant. The sounds of the waves in the middle of the night were very strong, too! I also went to perhaps the best quality restaurant there (La Concha) and had a delicious meal, which I then vomited up a few hours later. I was surprised that, as careful as I was about eating only trustworthy places and foods, that cooked fish, vegetables and rice would finally get me. Towel service was spotty. They would come get the dirty towels early in the day and not clean the room until late afternoon, so if you needed a shower mid-day, you might have been without a towel. I rarely was provided with hand towels and washcloths both. They try very hard to get you to buy a timeshare. No desire, with an experience like this.
