Pros: The owner cooked us a wonderful meal, which was served together with other guests in the dining room. Breakfast the following day was gorgeous, eith homemade cake, served in the kitchen. All this made yoy really feel at home, more than a hotell. In addition there is a refreshing swimming pool, and a jakuzi. The casa is a couple of kilometres uphill from the Camino del Norte, but the owner offered to pick us up, and also offered us a lift down the steep hill to the Camino. The casa is perfectly set up in the hills with womderful views. Much attention has been put to all details. The beds are comfortable, bathroom elegant and spotless. We would recommend this place, and hope to come back sometimes.
Cons: Absolutely nothing

Pros: This place was like a slice of heaven located in paradise. The lady of the house was amazing. She could not do enough for me. She made me my dinner which was lovely. I felt like I was home in her home. Breakfast was also lovely especially her home made marmalade. And when I left, I got lost. I’m walking the Camino. I rang her for help and she got in her car and found me and put me on my way. The hot tub and swimming pool were both extra bits of welcome luxury.
Cons: I’m only sorry I was there for just one night

It is 14 km from Durango and you can also drive to main cities such as Bilbao, Vitoria and San Sebastián in approximately 35 minutes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The apartments were fantastic clean and light with great bathrooms and comfortable beds. Very good value for money
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly but complicate people
Cons: No breakfast included, parking far away, no air conditioning, complicate communication and process, loud street
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice, although the building outside looks a bit old. Don't let that fool you! It is evident that the owner is doing a good job. There is an Irish pub in the vicinity that is also worth the visit. First we felt a little bit scared in the city but with that kind of hospitality we were proven wrong and we saw that we were just a bit judgemental.
Cons: The rooms are unfotunately not very soundproof. We heard the neighbours upstairs a bit too much
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The large double bed was super comfy and cosy. Good quality bedding and smelt fresh up close. The wifi was good enough to stream tv and movies on a tablet and there was a new modern flat screen tv with the facility to change the language to original version. Also had usb port to play your own content. Juantxo gave a really nice welcome and plenty of tips for the short time we stayed there. The room had a small balcony which would be a bonus in the summer time but unfortunately was too cold to use it in December.
Cons: The only negative with the room we had was a slight smell of smoke when entering. We are non-smokers and I'm not sure if the smell was in the fabrics/towels or just the wallpaper but it was very noticeable each time you went in the room. The town itself does not have any great dining options and we found ourselves struggling to find anywhere nice to eat in the evenings.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everthing OK
Cons: Parking
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Juantxo was super kind and helpful, he pointed out some amazing places for us to visit in the basque coast as well as which roads to take. He was really helpful and Ermua was a good base to explore Bilbao, San Sebastián, Mundaka, etc. It can be a bit confusing at first to find the pension and the parking area to drop off luggage, but the pension sends a detailed email explaining. They also offer free parking in a commercial building near to the pension. Overall, it was really great and so much cheaper than to stay in Bilbao or San Sebastián.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Better standards than expected. Friendly treatment. High cleanliness
Cons: Nothing to say
7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean
Cons: The receptionist
7.9 Good
Pros: The property was clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful.
Cons: The property had a damp smell. Lots of steps. Car parking was secure but it’s a good walk from the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: According to our research, Ermúa would be a nice base for visiting main cities in Basque Country by car. And if you are reading this comment, take note that Pension Melida has excellent conditions, staff called us before arrival, in order to met expectations and make you comfortable enough during the stay. They deserve 10/10, and it is a perfect and lovely place to stay for a few days. Eskerrik asko!

Pros: Beautiful family run hotel. The service was outstanding. The hotel exceeded my expectation. Our room was upgraded to a superior with balcony and I was very impressed with its, size, design and amenities. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and its was very nice. Pros: Great service, food and the shower is awesome, especially after a long 25km walk. Best hotel I’ve stayed at in northern Spain so far.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Ambiance. Food.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. The ensalada mixta is the best salad I've had thus far in Spain.
Cons: Everything was great. Nice room. Cool venue. Very friendly staff, with the exception of the receptionist! The first person one encounters. So crabby and for no apparent reason. She was put off when we checked out because we didn't give her ample warning that we were leaving. Is that even a thing? She seems like a cool climber dude but maybe that is what she should be doing for a living?
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely comfortable, beautiful stone building, large modern bedrooms, great food and bar area, English speaking staff. It was the best we’ve had so far walking the Camino.
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like but after walking 25 km from Deba it was another couple further up a main road to get to, however just do it, it’s worth it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Cosy place in a fantastic old building
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building filled with beautiful caring people. 10/10 would stay again and recommend to anybody!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here while walking the Camino de Santiago. It offered a perfect space to rest and refresh. Probably my favorite so far! The staff are hospitable and helpful. It is about 1 1/2 km from Markina, so be prepared for that, especially if you are walking the Camino stretch from Deba.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel a bit of luxury on our Camino. The shower was fantastic just what you need after a long day of walking. We had a fabulous meal in the evening. We taught the bar man to make hot whiskeys which we then enjoyed
5.4 Okay
Pros: Staff on duty apologetic and friendly
Cons: This hotel has serious housekeeping issues.first room had wallpaper peeling off and unable to use slide doors to toilet. Can we have room opposite ? No shower is broken. Moved upstairs to a room where card lock had been removed and could not just close door. Had to lock with a key.

Cons: Only downside was that WiFi didn't work good in the room but it worked in the reception area.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely room and views
Cons: Location. No evening meal option and the local town is 4km away with a return walk up a very steep hill. The local town is very desolate (desperate even) without many facilities - the trip there to find an evening meal was 'an experience'. It would have been much better if the hotel provided evening meals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking views, lovely rooms and amazing breakfast included.
7.1 Good

Cons: FAmily room was noisy (close to kitchen and dinning room).

Pros: The hotel is located in the city centre. The WiFi is available in all the rooms, the beds are comfortable. The parking garage is available a few minutes walking from hotel in the next street and is secured with door. The hotel has nice old and historic felling.
Cons: Nobody in the hotel speaks English. The hotel is an old building, walls are not straight, the floor is old wood which is uneven and the floor is sloping to one side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old historic building. Nicely furnished with a mix of antique and modern furnishings.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I miss traditional bread and cheese for breakfast. I would have been a better match with such a lovely place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the hotel and the family running it. They were so nice, not speaking English but managing to understand each other, extremely helpful people. We stayed there as we had a family member at the hospital in another village so didn't spend any time in Bergara, but it was the best place to sleep in. Comfy beds, clean room and bathroom, window with wooden blinds that kept out the night party noise from the street.
Cons: The door at room 13 is slightly lower than it should be, so you get the light and noise from the corridor, but it was quiet generally. We just had a strange feeling because of not being able to close the door properly. It's an old house with history and they preserved the wonky door, but that needs to be fixed someday. Still slept perfectly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place, the actual building, everything was impressive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful. Clean accommodation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great night, very friendly, nice croissants!

Pros: Cosy.
Cons: Too much unnecessary furniture, not to the best of taste.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We walked along Camino del Norte and booked this accommodation as there were no available rooms in Markina. It was a holiday, so the buses didn’t run and the host picked us up in Markina. You can also walk from one place to the other, it is a 30-minute very pleasant walk next to a river. The place itself was clean and spacious, it had everything we needed.
Cons: Unfortunately, they do not offer laundry services, something very useful for pelegrinos. Perhaps they should add it to their list of facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly helpful and kind proprietor who went out of her way to help us in every way. She even drove my husband to our previous hotel to obtain our missing bags! She called a restaurant to let them know we were coming, dried and folded our laundry and gave us bus information. The place was spotless and comfortable as well. We were so glad that we stayed here and it was a great respite while on our Camino. Highest recommendation!

Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Penison was very clean and comfortable. The pension is located approx 2.3km from Markina and the road is narrow with little or no footpath. Therfore it might be advisable to take a taxi to and from if travelling from Markina.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really nice place. All very easy and lovely room.
Cons: Even though it’s in a small village, there’s a bus that goes to Marnika-Xemein which is free for pilgrims!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: While this property was off the Camino Del Norte, Anna Maria was a wonderful host going so far as to wash and dry our hiking clothes. We were only there for one night and were leaving early next morning so didn't have breakfast. Would really recommend this little hotel.
Cons: Everything was lovely. Spotlessly clean and a great welcome.

Pros: What a view! My goodness I could have sat on the front porch all day. For a tiny town there were plenty of food options at the hotel to keep us satisfied during our short trip.
Cons: Certainly not a super fancy place but we didn't need it - so we found it to be fine.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very pretty area, very peaceful. Nice small village Elorrio nearby, you could walk it. Clean room, Nice bathroom. Good breakfast buffet for around €9,00
Cons: Missing a fridge and tea/coffee facilities for this price. WiFi was not strong enough.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We booked the Elorrio because it was in easy taxi range of the fabulous Asador Etxebarri where we went for lunch (the taxi, booked for us by the hotel, was €13 each way) so it was just intended as a base for that, but in the end we enjoyed the hotel in its own right too. It is quite simple, but the people were nice, they did a good breakfast and you can eat on the terrace admiring the scenery.

Pros: Convenient central location. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Check-in was a bit slow and I wasn't able to find the room straight away as it was in a different building, but someone showed me where to go after I went back to reception and asked for directions. There was no lift from the ground to the first floor, only from the first floor up -my room was on the 3rd floor. Overall though it was fine, easy to find and good value.
Cons: Check-in was slow.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is great. Close to the train and bus stations. Half an hour to the beach.
Cons: On the 3d floor was absolutely no wifi. Bad sound insulation. The elevator starts only from the 1st floor. Tiny shower place. No breakfast. Too expensive for those conditions.

Cons: Next door property is currently being rebuilt but we didn’t hear any noise to disturb us.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The friendliest hotel team in Pais Vasco. Very willing to go the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Very central in Eibar. Perfect free WIFI. The bar with friendly staff and locals. Rooms perfectly clean.
Cons: If I have to mention something it would be that there was only margarine available at breakfast and no butter.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, has its own bar and restaurant. Excellent central location and very close to bars, restaurants and shops. Free and stable wifi. Crisp white sheets & towels. Its more flexible and personable perhaps because its not part of a large hotel group e.g. checked out at 14:30 without any problem or extra charge.
Cons: For a 3 star hotel, there was nothing to complain about.
