Excellent 10.0
Pros: We stayed for 3 nights at the Hostal Jardin Secreto. The place is very close to the train station, aprox 10-15 min walk. Also nearby you can find restaurants and bars. The hostal has 6 rooms all of them designed differently (as they are in the pictures) and a cozy, small garden in the back. The room in which we stayed was number 4, with light blue and silver design and a small balcony facing the garden. We appreciated very much the good mattress and the variety of pillows, the shower cabin (big enough for two) and the clothes hanger. In the morning they serve coffee/tea and some local pastry. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We received a wonderful welcome and our host was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed and very comfortable. Fantastic shower. It was an easy walk to the sea front and to the area of bars and restaurants, but a little away from them so we were in a real city amongst working people. A genuine Spanish experience. We hope to return to the lovely city of Santander and would certainly stay here again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very friendly host who gives great tips on where to go and provides free coffee in mornings. Centrally located and right opposite a bakery run by Argentinians who make gorgeous bread and croissants. Nearby cafe bars and small supermarkets and fish market is 5 minute walk away
Cons: Liked everything!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very lovely room in the old town. It was beautiful and very comfortable. Even though it was a Friday night and there are bars below the room we couldn’t hear the street at all. Alvero on reception to meet us was outstanding giving us advice on Santander
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location is perfect, 5-10 min walking from the bar & restaurant area. Many shops close by to buy whatever needed. The room is clean and quiet, we slept very well all 3 nights we stayed there. Staff was really nice and helpful, communication was quick and efficient. I’d totally come back!
Good 7.5
Pros: It’s central position close to restaurants. Large comfortable bed. Hot modern shower and the tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were were very friendly and welcoming. Nicely furnished .
Cons: Lack of natural light. Only window was opaque and when open overlooked narrow dark central core of the building. Only space for luggage was to put on spare small bed. Bathroom very very small with sliding door and not very private. The €172 paid per day was not good value for money
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The location was great, the staff were super friendly and the room was spacious and clean
Good 7.9
Pros: Location, netflix on the TV, let us check in earlier than usual
Cons: I thought it was a bit expensive.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff giving advice on the best restaurants to use and sites to see, large room with a fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, comfy bed , wifi and even netflix. Great location with lots of bars and restaurants .3 weeks travelling and we stayed in much more expensive hotels that could learn a lot from center suites. Definitely one to remember.
Excellent 10.0

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Unbelievable value. £ 22.00 included safe parking and a cooked breakfast
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Awesome hosts
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host is lovely, treats us like a part of his family! Each day, he asked me where I was going, what I had done during the day, etc! One day, he didn't see at breakfast because I got up at 6 and came back at 11, and when I came back, he asked me if I was ok and told me he was worried about me! I would definitely stay there again if I return to Santander! A must for solo travellers in Santander!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Rafael was an excellent host. I was only there for a short time but enjoyed my stay. Thanks again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was everything great at my stay and Rafael is the best host ever I'm looking forward to come again next year.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Staff, location
Good 7.9
Pros: Nice family, great location.
Cons: I found myself wondering, for €27 a night, with a generous breakfast, when you have to wash all the sheets anyway, why is it €1 for a towel??? I don’t get it.
Good 7.5
Pros: Made a effort with breakfast eggs were good
Cons: As on Camino would have liked washing drying clothes facilities
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Rafa is a very friendly and helpful host. The hostel has a comfortable chillout room and very clean toilets and showers
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The owner was really a kind and attentive person, suggested places for lunch near the hotel and tourist places to visit in Santander. To return to the hostel in Santander, you can take bus line 11 (it takes you almost back in front of the hostel, but it takes time to pass) or line 1 or 2 (some blocks nearby).

Pros: Good location, comfortable matress, "bed privacy".

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was great.
Cons: There was a perfumey smell that is probably really nice, but made me feel nauseated.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Alvaro and Violetta (and their secretary Alma) were always helpful and friendly, creating a good atmosphere! The room was small but had more or less all that you need when you do not spend much time in the hotel which I don’t when I travel! Most importantly it was spotless! would have loved a small mini fridge but you can’t have everything for this quite reasonable rate! I send them my thanks!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was great, new and clean bathroom, comfy beds and pillows, definitely recommended and would repeat our stay.
Good 7.9
Pros: I liked the central location on the Camino, the room was ok.
Cons: The noise outside the window the whole night ( it was a Saturday night).
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: A little bit noisy in the morning
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Very close to the pedestrian zone at the end of Calle San Fernando as well as train and bus station. Helpful and friendly staff at the check-in desk. Nice dog waiting for you as you enter.
Cons: A bit loud with open windows, but not really a problem.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent value nice helpful staff. Room comfortable and clean.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had a corner room with a view over the square. A quiet location just off the main shopping street. An easy walk to the station.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was fabulous. Alberro the manager was super friendly and spoke perfect English which was a big help for me being a typical Aussie with only one language. His local knowledge was very helpful and his laughing lesson in conversational Spanish was delightful. The location couldn't be beat, right in the middle of a vibrant Spanish urban community. The music filled night life on the street below was exciting, enchanting and comforting all at the same time. The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfy. My first night in Spain was perfect thanks to Alberro and the Hostal San Fernando. 5 stars.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Extremly clean place. Very polite and helpful people at the reception. Alma, the mascot dog of the hotel, was a very nice addition to the cosy atmosphere. Not very far from the centre and from the bus and train stations (approximatively 10 minutes walking). I definitely recommend it.

Excellent 9.2
Pros: Position in centre of city
Cons: No tea/coffee facilities in room
Excellent 9.2
Pros: We had amazing views overlooking the bay of Santander and we could see the ferries as they were arriving throughout the day. The hotel location is not very close the Beaches of Santander, however a 15 minute walk will get you to the first beach.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very good location
Cons: Air conditioner wasn’t regulated
Good 6.0
Pros: Good location and friendly staff. Service was good and reactive when approached. Parking space available in hotel and ver secure. Overall good experience
Cons: Staff is not proactive (e.g. nobody came to help us with luggage when we arrived). Rooms are old (two old separate beds). No complimentary water in the room. Elevator buttons only activate part of the elevators as they are not synchronized.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Very good location and amazing views
Cons: Room too warm and difficult to cool down
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We have stayed at this hotel a few times on our way to and from Southern Spain and getting on and off the ferry. It is always a perfect stay and the hotel is very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Building work going on next to the Cathedral caused some noise.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Panoramic windows looked at the whole city, including the ocean and the old church, it was possible not to leave the room at all :) The bathroom also had panoramic windows on the floor, I sincerely hope that they are quite mirrored from the outside. Everything is convenient, worthy and consistent with the price. A very large comfortable bed, wonderful views, a jacuzzi, lying in which you can continue to admire the city.
Cons: I hate carpet coverage from corner to corner. But these are personal preferences that did not cause any objective inconvenience
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Well appointed and in a good location especially if arriving by ferry.
Cons: Wifi was not very good and difficult to connect to with the hotels cafeteria network constantly interfering.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The position of the room and view. The comfort of the room. Underground parking. The area around the hotel.
Cons: Nothing.

Good 6.3
Pros: It is clean
Cons: It is overpriced for being an hostel. Plus I had to pay 1€ extra for exchange rate even if I was paying in euro. Cheeky way to make additional revenues from foreigners.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: super cute little hostel with really nice staff, hilarious manager who is super open minded. rooms were cozy, so was the beautiful common area. Little breakfast was cheap and enjoyable. Definitely a place worthy staying for a night :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: What a great check in....fun and friendly....very nice young lady...
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Cleanliness. Staff very helpful. Very well run. Bunk beds firm and not creaky. Breakfast facilities excellent.
Okay 5.8
Pros: Location close to train station.
Cons: This is one of the few hostels to slap foreigners with a surcharge for using a credit card. Kitchen too small given the number of guests and only one sink. Cannot store luggage without being obligated to donate something. Cramped conditions in dorms with no airflow. Bathrooms usable. Common areas close at 11pm which is pretty early for Spain. And everyone has to "get out" during the day (reminds me of good old hostels of the 80's era.) No security on dorm doors. Poor lighting in dorm. Someone threw my backpack, my clean towel and clothes onto the floor off the chair. Given that guests almost never touch another persons stuff I suspect the owner (in some fit of anger), possibly because I either broke rule 28 or rule 34, cant remember which because there were so many rules! They need to up their game or get out of the game because their are much better options in this city.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Staff was very kind. Location was perfect. We had to leave very early the last day and they prepared us breakfast boxes!
Cons: They don't have AC and instead have ventilators that make a lot of noise. Some of the other guests of the room decided to turn it on during the night, it was a pain (that was in August).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly people who were a great help and made you welcome as if at home
Cons: Not used to being in a bunk bed, that I know is the norm
Good 7.5
Pros: This hostel is right at the centre of Santander, just moments from all of the things that you will want to see while here. The owner of the hostel is incredibly friendly and welcoming, while still running a tight ship which is always appreciated. The breakfast is plentiful and good and there is always a pot of coffee on the go, which for me, is very necessary. Great spot for working in the common room, if needed and there are always great tunes going - I regret not asking what some of them were! Awesome place, thanks guys :)
Cons: This is a very tightly packed hostel, so you do feel like you are a little on top of each other. Folks are coming and going all the time which is to be expected, some are not as respectful as others, this all comes down to experience and is something that cannot be helped. I really did not sleep much here. Sad, but true.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Breakfast was OK; location by bus/Feve station was excellent.
Cons: People coming in noisily at 1.30 a.m. and noisily waking up at 7.30
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Very nice Hostel-Personal

Pros: Great location in the green area with walking paths near the sea. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Not far from the airport.
Cons: Difficult to park the car.
Okay 5.8
Pros: Nice small hotel in Santander surroundings . 9Km from city center so you need a car . Clean rooms , ok for the price . Staff is nice , one gentleman in particular was very helpful .
Cons: Breakfast is very simple , no expresso , just filter coffee . Limited car parking situation. Luckily there is a church near that is always open and we could park there .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really friendly and helpful staff and excellent breakfast, clean, tidy and good value.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The staff were very helpful and accommodating, the rooms were clean and spacious. An ideal kicking off point for a cycling trip across Spain all at a very good price
Cons: Nothing. It was just right for our needs
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Staff friendly Clean hotel No frills
Cons: Cleanliness
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Short taxi ride to port the staff very very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble... even finding me a larger rubbish bin as i didnt want to leave pizza boxes and bottles all over the place
Cons: Continental Breakfast only no resturant only sandwiches etc... but plenty of places near by
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location across from public park on waterfront in the "off the beaten path" town of El Astillero. Several charming eateries nearby. Short drive or bus ride to Santander. Breakfast was excellent with lots of meat, bread, fruit, and juice choices. Older property but well maintained.
Cons: Beds were not comfortable - thin mattresses and stiff as a board platform. My only complaint.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful. Fresh Orange Juice, Coffee with a Jug of hot frothy milk, toast, Cold meats & cheese, Sweet Cakes. As much as you'd like served by a very friendly waitress.
Cons: There wasn't anything not to like about this property. Loved it. Staff were wonderful
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The receptionist was most helpful, the room was clean and comfortable
Cons: We ate at the Hotels restaurant and were very disappointed with the quality of the food
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The room and bathroom were clean. The staff were helpful. They stored my baggage for the rest of the day, after I had checked out, and called a taxi to take me to the airport.
Cons: It was difficult to communicate. It is stated that English is available (one of the reasons for choosing this hotel) but it was only a few words. There was very little choice for breakfast. It is also stated that there is a fan for the room but there wasn't one in mine and it was a very warm night.
Good 6.7
Pros: It's okay for one night if you need to catch a flight early in the morning. Owner is very kind and goes the extra mile with decoration.
Cons: Very noisy. Very small room. Bathtub is rusty. Ugly area and horrible views.

Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: Thin walls in the bedroom!!

Pros: Nice and comfy, neat and tidy
Cons: The food menu wasn't great if you want to eat there - very limited selection which is a shame but I guess most visitors drive to local restaurants
Good 7.5
Pros: It's nice place for one night, close to Santander. Staff very nice and helpful.

Okay 5.8
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Too loud, from the outside and from the other rooms. Bathroom was not clean enough.
Good 6.7
Pros: The staff were welcoming & the price was suitable for the location & facilities.
Cons: There was a noisy fan outside, I think from an adjacent building & overall the room was a bit uncomfortable.
Good 7.5
Pros: Very close to the airport.
Cons: Not a good location, but for just 1 night it was more than perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Hostal Lucy is a perfect budget solution for anybody and in particular for families. The room was silent, large and comfortable, with three beds and a sofa bed, a large wardrobe, a table with chairs, and equipped with a little fridge, tv and ceiling fan. The bathroom was large, comfortable and clean, equipped with soap, shower gel, shampoo, hairdryer, large towels and even a seat. In the Hostal there is a small common room with a kitchenette (microwave and basin), a dinner table and a living (not accessible on Sunday afternoon). Dishes and cutlery are also available. The staff is exceptionally kind and friendly. The surrounding area is the so-called "fishermens' neighborhood", full of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops. For instance, Restaurant "Nueva Gaviota" in front of the hotel (dock side) is very good (although expensive); Café-Bar Sotileza (at the corner of the Hostal block) is a welcoming café with really friendly staff. The city centre (cathedral) is at 15-20 min walking. The airport can be reached by taxi in 8-10 min (around 18 euros). There is a taxi point exactly at the Hostal door.
Cons: Both the room and the bathroom had windows on an internal court, therefore the light was not so much (but the bad weather did not help, too...). Bed light lamps could be provided.
Okay 4.6
Pros: Noise all night danger place at night
Cons: Not to have stayed
Good 6.7
Pros: Nice friendly folk room clean and all you need apart from no kettle
Cons: Parking was a bit hit and miss
Okay 5.4
Pros: Average
Cons: Drains making massive rumberling all night room 5 , buiilders , lift , people shouting , people upstaires all crazy noise no rest . No sleep !!!!!
Good 7.5
Pros: Nice place, but truly a tight, little, urban hostel. Friendly staff. Be advised, no a/c.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Surprisingly, there was not much noise coming from the street. Nice views.Good value for money.
Cons: Shower is pretty small. Walls are very thin, I could hear everything they were doing in the room next door.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Arrived on ferry from UK and a 15 minute ride from the port. Good parking for our 5 motorcycles. Good assistance and help from staff. Very comfortable room and a variety of nice food and drink for breakfast.
Cons: Nil
Excellent 9.2
Pros: It is ideal for the airport, the reception staff are excellent and very helpful. Room is very clean, nice breakfast
Cons: Room is basic, an iron, tissues,tea/ coffee making facility would be welcome- even though the gentleman on reception duty helped me to get tea and coffee, for which I was very appreciative
Good 7.9
Pros: Very helpful staff, letting me park on the forcourt, outside the hotel
Cons: Not a very good breakfast
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We love the variety of food at breakfast and the are grateful for the staff (we have dealt with)gave been able to speak English and they are friendly are professional
Okay 4.6
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything. Room looked something from the 70s/80s. Aircon didn't work. Breakfast was terrible. Trays of ham still frozen. Presumably prepared the night before and left in the freezer. Toiletries only provided for one person. Way overpriced for the standard provided.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: great value
Cons: every thing was fine
Good 6.3
Pros: A modern built hotel close to bus rail plenty of bars locally
Cons: i booked a single room it was a bit poky breakfast was fair but the flies got to it first no bar onsite dodgy electrics i went to plug in a phone charger and the entire socket fell off the wall. Could be a better hotel just lacking a bit.
Good 6.3
Pros: Location was great, Right next to some shops a bars and the ferry is only just down the road.
Cons: Aircon did not seem to be working in our room. Had to have windows open as it was cooler outside. All the staff were accommodating until we come down in the morning. The lady on the desk would not even look at us, when we were trying to pay for breakfast and when I was trying to ask her for something after standing around like some an inconvenient. She just pointed. Wow. If you don't like people, don't work in hospitality.

Good 7.1
Pros: good room
Cons: reception staff really need more training
Good 7.5
Pros: - friendly staff, provided lots of useful info related the city and the area; - nice courtyard, lots of parking places available
Cons: - rather industrial/commercial area, so don't expect great views; - the breakfast is ok, but not "gourmet" (how they call it) by any means; - quite far away from the city, so you will need a car basically to get anywhere (except if you have things to do in the technical area around) - hotel is old, so are its facilities everywhere (but especially in the room) - time-travel to the 80-90's
Good 7.5
Pros: Location, locked garage meant we didn’t have to take all our baggage out. Staff were helpful and very pleasant.
Cons: Condition of the furnishings need improvement and no soap etc in bathroom.
Good 6.7
Pros: Ok for overnight stay.
Cons: Not very easy to find. Restaurant closed on Sunday.
Good 6.5
Cons: Breakfast: low quality products and expensive Air conditioner was not working properly - room was hot so that need to change it
