With a stay at Posada Del Hidalgo Hotel in El Fuerte, you'll be just steps from El Fuerte Museum and Municipal Palace. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: A number of separate and historic courtyards make each area special. Traditional and very comfortable rooms. Good food and bar (though a bit overpriced). Helpful personnel. Courtesy shuttle to “El Chepe” train station appreciated.
Cons: Quite a few mosquitos (and not obvious).
Pros: We loved that it was a historic hotel in the Center of town. The building, the gardens, and the decor were marvelous! The staff was great, and it was nice to have tours offered by the hotel.
Pros: Wonderful atmospheric hotel with an abundance of intriguing common spaces.
Cons: Beds were dusty and full of moths and no one cleaned it even after complaining ,breakfast not included
Pros: Lovely old building and the setting is quite romantic.
Pros: The authentic house and decor, amazing gardens, even small pool - all in the center of the town. They also have a free shuttle to/from Copper Canyon train
Cons: Nobody speaks English
Pros: Fabulous staff
Cons: Bar closed early and poor wifi
Pros: Lovely property with very attractive facilities. Food was delicious. We made reservations the Zorro dinner and so glad we did. It was festive and made the stay there more memorable.
Cons: Rooms r not well maintained compared to the beauty of the property. No attention to detail. They need a manager with hotel experience from a US high end hotel or someone to walk their properties with that skill set to provide a list of improvements. Unnecessary failing s detracted from the ambience.
Pros: Clean big and stylish rooms. It's a beautiful house, you can lose your way while discovering it :) Staff was very nice. And very good coffee for breakfast .
Just a 5-minute walk from the centre of El Fuerte, Mansion Serrano Hotel offers an outdoor pool, a children’s pool and a water slide. The air-conditioned rooms feature free Wi-Fi. Mansion Serrano is a charming colonial-style building with an internal patio. Each room has functional, décor, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a mini-fridge and a private bathroom. The Mansion Serrano’s restaurant serves authentic Mexican cuisine. The hotel also features a bar and meeting rooms. The River Fuerte is just an 8-minute walk from the hotel, while the Josefa Ortiza de Dominguez and Miguel Hidalgo lakes are both a 15-minute drive away. Free private parking is available at the hotel.
Pros: Shower curtain moldy
Pros: Great Hotel really close to downtown El Fuerte, we where the only Guests, there was no Bar service or Restaurant Service , beside the Breakfast (standard Eggs or Hotcakes) but probalby because we where the only Guests. Staff is really attentive, everyhting you need you will find there, great rooms with large ceilings. since there was no Barservice we went out to buy our own drinks.Roms are really clean and comforatble beds. I recommend this Hotel!
Pros: Great location and the staf was very helpfull. The decoration of the hotel was clasic!!! Thanks!
Pros: The Mansion felt exactly like an old colonial mansion, with a gate that was guarded during the night (not necessarily for safety but nice to know that someone would be there to open the gate whenever we decided to return and to know that whatever we left in our room would stay safe). It had a big courtyard with our rooms on the side under an open, covered walkway. It also had a very nice pool with a covered slide. Nice, clean, and Spanish-style traditional. The rooms were large and spacious, though the bathroom was small. We were two blocks at most from the central area of town where the church and the park were, with several restaurants that were reasonably priced and had excellent fare. It was also within walking distance of the museum (El Fuerte) and the river walk. Just bring plenty of bug spray for there were many little black flying bugs that bit any exposed areas and later itched. The only place in our Copper Canyon travel in April that was buggy.
Cons: The town is a distance from the train station and though the person in charge of the hotel promised to send a taxi for us there was none: the only place in all our trip that did not have someone picking you and delivering from/to the station. Taxis were plentiful and we hired one without a problem, and the driver was there early in the morning to pick us up when we had to return to the station.
Pros: Comfortable room, very helpful staff and secure parking. Everything we wanted at a reasonable price.
Pros: A very nice room, spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. The hotel manager was really helpful phoning our next hotel for us when the train to the copper canyon was cancelled and leaving us stranded with no means of reaching it. It was really appreciated. The little pool was really nice for a cool off (though it’s much smaller than it looks in the photos) - it wasn’t really possible to have a proper swim but nice all the same. The pool slide looked a bit dubious so I didn’t try it :-)
Cons: The WiFi was not good. Didn’t work at all in the room and worked vaguely in common areas outside. I did wonder if it was the mountainous area but WiFi worked well in restaurants in town.
Pros: The place is well looked after, rooms are large, bed is comfortable, lots of sitting areas in the gardens and pool area, secure parking, have stayed here a few times before and would definitely recommend this place
Pros: I like the location near the plazuela and other facilities
Cons: I like everything the guest room is confortable eve that we arrive in late October the inside was fresh and the mecedoras wee inviting.
Pros: No evening/lunch food at this time of the year. Breakfast was great , cook made anything you wished and was willing to start earlier if your travel plans needed an early start.
Pros: My kids lived the pool and slide. I loved the location and how quaint it was.
With a stay at Hotel Torres del Fuerte in El Fuerte, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Municipal Palace and El Fuerte Plaza. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and limited parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful, calming gardens
Cons: Didn’t have food available.
Cons: No hairdryer in rooms. Staff was only present a few hours every day. Staff was not able to be reached by telephone. Staff did not fullfill their promises (tours, taxi reservations, etc.). No WiFi in rooms. Mosquitos everywhere, no nets on windows or beds.
Pros: Hotel in lovely old hacienda with very funky old Mexican decorations -- much like a museum. Location at bottom of Fort and one block from main plaza.
Cons: Would have appreciated if Hotel supplied reasonable transport to and from train station like many others.
Pros: - loved the little pool - liked the style and all the decoration - very big room with a window - huge bed - big bathroom, enough towels - everything clean - very helpful and friendly stuff at 24h reception - right behind the main cathedral and close to everything
Cons: - WIFI just in the common area and not very good - they should have mosquito nets in front of the windows
Pros: Historic mansion. Very well decorated centrsl.ro everything.
Pros: Staff and breakfast were very good, and helpful. The common areas are beautiful, full of Mexican artesanas.
Cons: Our room was cramped, not very clean (inside of bathroom door covered with a year of dust), the toilet was cracked and the flapper valve didn't work, the shower water went all over the bathroom floor, causing a slip hazard. There were no chairs in the room to sit on, only the bed. Our window looked at ankle level onto a noisy street. TV did not work. Window air conditioner was very loud, very old.
Pros: Gorgeous building. Rooms are big and cosy with both a heater and a ceiling fan. Nice location. Staff were lovely.
Pros: Very funky furnishings and layout of hotel. Room was very comfortable. Great location just one block off main square and river.
Cons: Staff didn't provide a way to or from train station for the train to the Copper Canyon. Many hotels provide a shuttle as station is 6 km out of town. Instead they suggested a way over priced taxi.
Pros: The location and the Mexican style of the hotel.
Cons: The tv and internet didn’t work.
Pros: The staff were incredibly helpful, patient and attentive. They helped me negotiate a train ticket that was hard for me to do on my own.
Pros: Rooms big and comfortable Courtyard is gorgeous (attached) Pool area nice and relaxing (dubious cleanliness but it was 36 degrees c) Staff generally helpful (if you can locate them) - the new owner of the restaurant, Diego (I think), was very kind and informative Location is right next to the main square and less than a minute from the museum and malecon etc The much more expensive hotel located 30s away organised tours and does the Zorro show so you can just go there to sort out activities. They also allow use of their bigger pool as long as you buy something Aircon works and is essential
Cons: The first room we were given had a ceiling that leaked water onto the socket my charger was plugged into as well as the bathroom leaking (this was during a rainstorm in the afternoon while we were napping) Rooms inconsistent as everything is so old so in our first room the fan didn’t work but in our second the lamp was missing - we much preferred room 2 to the initial one we had Generally very dark inside and windows covered and unreachable so there is no natural light in rooms Breakfast is absolutely awful, my girlfriend loves chilequiles and described them as the worst she has had in 2 years of living in Mexico. The eggs and coffee both cold and flavourless Hotel does not provide transport to and from El Fuerte town so you have to factor in 300$ for both legs to the station which is a complete rip off as it is a 10min drive each way
Pros: Hotel was comfortable and clean. We got a triple room with 3 beds and the space was great. The location was very convenient super close to the plaza. The dinner at the restaurant was great also!! we tried different moles!
Cons: Pool needed to be cleaned!!
Pros: Nice place, cheapest all around. Friendly owner. Good facilities
Pros: Super friendly helpful staff, washing machine and dryer available, room had a small kitchenette attached, super big nice mirror
Cons: Scary shower, cables werent sealed
Pros: The beds were comfy and the air con in each room was fantastic. Handy for town centre. Pick up from train station worked well.
Cons: We only wanted a basic place to stay, as we were arriving late and leaving early, but we were rather disappointed in this "posada". We had a separate/ isolated apartment - 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen area with no equipment (no kettle, cups etc). It was all clean but rather scruffy, damaged doors, wonky furniture. No drinking water provided. Location was close to centre but the road was noisy until late on the Saturday night we stayed. The owner had helpfully agreed to provide taxi service in the morning but was 20 mins late- just made our bus in Los Mochis thanks to clear roads and foot down!
Pros: big mirror on the room!! not very common. the room has dark curtains, so excelent to sleep and relax during the 40+ Celsius, AC works excelent and the room is cold in less than 5 minutes. Maggie has an amazing host, going the extra mile to help me when my phone got wet. plus I was able to cook breakfast on her kitchen.
Cons: i stay only 2 nights =(
Pros: The hosts provided equipment when asked. They responded quickly and positively to our requests.
Cons: The room had a stove, but absolutely no cooking equipment. There was no basin in the bathroom, only a sink in the "kittchen". It was small. No hangers.
Pros: the staff are amazing... extremely helpful and friendly
Pros: Very friendly owner, we wished to be better in spanish haha. Very clean, great location for that price absolutely amazing!
Cons: The drain was smelly but we just closed the bathroom door! No sink in the bathroom but one in the little fridge/stove area in the room so was all right.
Pros: The staff was nice
Cons: The room, it was the size of a closet, we found a cockroach, there was one small towel, it had no potable water.......the AC didn’t work. It wasn’t really a hotel.
Pros: Cold water They didn’t clean the room daily
Cons: At least change towels and provide tp
Just 50 metres from the Mirador Museum, Hotel Rio Vista has great views of the River Fuerte. It offers a free Wi-Fi zone and free transport to El Fuerte Bus Station. Rooms at the Rio Vista have a terrace, many overlooking the River Fuerte. All air-conditioned rooms feature colourful décor, cable TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries. Some rooms also have free Wi-Fi. The hotel's restaurant offers panoramic river views and serves Mexican cuisine, including typical local dishes. Room service and BBQ facilities are also available. The Rio Vista is situated on the edge of El Fuerte’s historic centre, and offers free on-site parking. The Chepe Train Station is 6 km away, while the Jípago Thermal Springs are 15 km away.
Cons: We were really bothered my the small gnats. any way to spray for them?
Pros: Location and view were terrific! Price was great ! Tour guide for the river and petroglyphs (Philippi)was knowledgable and spoke English.
Cons: Having to pay for breakfasts
Pros: The river view from the hotel was great. We also loved the bright murals and nick nicks around the hotel. The hotel needs a few basic repairs but nothing that detracted from the stay. The bed and hot water shower were great.
Cons: There was a smell from the drain in the bathroom. The tiles in the bathroom need regrouting.
Pros: The view from the room over the river was great. The manager was good at organising a river tour and taxi to Los Mochis airport. Breakfast was tasty
Cons: Pool was like empty. Hotel had a run down look. Hot water flow in the room was poor. Restaurant was only open for breakfast.
Pros: Breakfast was great. It was only about 4 blocks to the plaza. Rio Vista is on a hill with a great view of the river. The property was fun with rooms in "hidden nooks and crannies" but always with a good view and good decor.
Pros: Personnel was super nice all the time. View to the river is great
Cons: They have a moth issue, which causes the room feel dirty every morning. Some geckos also find their way into the room, which isn't nice to see
Pros: Amazing views of Rio Fuerte from the hotel. They arrange a day trip to the secret Forrest via the river which was interesting and fun. Breakfast was good. Two min walk into town.
Cons: This place could really do with some love and care. It has great potential.. Parts are unfinished and other parts rundown. Room 18 had termites and a broken faucet so we asked for another room and got an upgrade to room 20. This room had an A/C that was broken (only went to frost) and in the end had termites as well. The place could do with a proper cleaning and renovation. The restaurant does not serve lunch or dinner. There is a bar, but always closed. The views really cannot make up for it all.. The staff try their best, but it lacks professionalism. Given, the prices are low, but if they do up the place they can ask a higher price with this location and view
Cons: A lot lizards and bed bugs, the termites from the logs roof made a lot mess on the floor and the lizards made a lot noises and Pooh everywhere even on the bed . Horrible! I still having the bed bugs bites marks . This made my trip not enjoyable.
Pros: The river and birdwatching tour offered by the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Views excellent. Hotel itself is charming and eccentric but sadly is getting a bit run down.
Pros: View of the river from our room was spectacular! Plenty of hot water and pressure in the large shower! Small lovely pool that they are readying for spring and summer! Felipe runs a float trip down the river to see birds and a short hike to see some recently discovered petroglyphs- he is very knowledgeable about early history of the area and the flora and fauna!
Cons: Small “no seeum” type bugs that chewed us up pretty good- take your repellent!
Pros: I like everything all the personal
Pros: Bus stopped right in front of it, I got the second night cheaper without me asking for a discount, staff was very helpful
Pros: The location in the main street , remote from the traffic, just in front of the bus terminus.
Cons: They asked us to pay in advance the 2 nights instead of one night , and by Western Union because they don't accept credit cards ,so we payed 5 $ for the transaction . The staff was not friendly at all , called a taxi to go the Chepe and the driver asked a very high price. No coffee , everything was minimum . The floor was dusty in the room . Poor bedding and shower watering the whole bathroom !
Pros: One minute away from bus station
Cons: Air con was incredibly loud in my room & couldn't be switched off
Pros: The Staff picked me up from the train station and was super friendly and helped me with every question I had! (tips where to go, what to see and supermarkets which are open ) As well they offer tours.
Cons: I don't know if at least my bed was cleaned, but it didnt seem so (several hairs on my pillows) , the bathroom was definitely not cleaned, which was really ugly to me and is a absolute no go in a hotel.
Pros: Room size and nice staff Great position
Cons: Very little hot water. Room could be cleaner
Pros: The owner was great!
With a stay at Hacienda St Cruz El Fuerte in El Fuerte, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of El Fuerte Plaza and Municipal Palace. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Staff and owners were very friendly
Cons: Coffee, parking for vehicle , bare-bones room… Good have a chair or small table in it. Also the price, we booked ahead of time and paid 773 pieces, if we would’ve just walked in we would’ve paid 650 pesos, not impressed.
Pros: We arrived at the Hacienda after a long day of travelling. This was the beginning of our travel to Copper Canyon The husband and wife who checked us in were so nice. They went out of their way to make sure we understood everything as they only spoke spanish and we only spoke english. We managed :) The Hacienda is located on the main street to the town square-it is central to most tourist events. The Hacienda is an old, historic building which has an inner, open courtyard. The rooms are quite large and well looked after. The bed was very comfortable. There is excellent wifi as well as a very good breakfast. In our opinion it is great value for the money.
Cons: I really cannot think of anything. If you are looking for a true Mexican accommodations this is it-if you are looking for a posh, modern hotel then this would not be for you.
Pros: Location. Also the room had AC which worked very well and it was very hot at the time so was very welcome. It was very good value for money and the staff were friendly although they didn't speak English.
Cons: The decor was a bit shabby but it was clean.
Pros: The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The air-con worked well.
Cons: The worse breakfast ever! Everything instant, even milk! I got also scrambled eggs with sweet bread and no butter at all :( I included photo of breakfast
Pros: The check-out time 1pm! The colonial style of the property, the wall colours and garden. The staff was very nice.
Cons: It could probably do with a little modernisation but for the price, you can’t expect something of the 4 star level. It did the job and was a nice place to stay.
Pros: Very friendly staff. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Walking distance to everything except the El chepe train station.
Cons: The fact they do not take atm nor credit cards. Having to go through the inconvenience of walking two blocks down the street to exchange money at 16 pesos per dollar when that day was nearly 18. With ATM & Credit card, It would have exchanged at 18 pesos per dollar that day. Breakfast was not available as indicated at 7 am. I stayed til 745 am, still no breakfast. CASH Only and dont take dollars.
Pros: This is a budget hotel located a 5 minute walk from the historic Centro area of El Fuerte. The rooms are basic but clean with comfortable beds and the air conditioning worked well. The owners are very friendly and helpful although there was a bit of a language barrier. All in all an excellent choice for budget travellers.
Cons: Very Small bathroom
