Helpful, English -speaking staff, cleanliness of room. Great location with beach and views. It suited us that it was off-season so not too crowded or noisy. Not sure we'd like it in the high season. Lots of steps to climb up and down. This wasn't clear to us from the internet advert. Our water heater wasn't working properly on arrival, but the staff were very helpful in fixing the problem.
nice well prepared hotel
Very kind staff, close to beach. The bedroom fan looked broken (we could not use for safty), and the cleaning lady didn't come although we request.
I have stayed at White Sands Beach Club many times before, and as always we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even though it was October the weather was still good, apart from the few showers and thunderstorms. White's Bar was amazing as usual, with amazing food and entertainment. The only thing that I would have to complain about was the £200 deposit we had to pay. This was a budget holiday for us and we were never told about this, so it did leave us short of money. We also booked a 6 bed apartment, but ended up with a 4 bed. When we asked about this at reception, she said that it wasn't the resorts fault and that there was nothing she could do. The 6 bed apartment was more expensive than the 4 bed, so this wasted more of our money.
Excellent staff, great food, swimming pool, ideal central location to explore the island
We liked everything about it. Nothing at all except slightly strange card system to conserve light energy didn't work very well.
The room was large with a spacious bathroom. With air conditioning, TV and fridge the facilities are better than many 3 star hotels. Although we didn't use the pool area it looked great and the sun terrace garden with tables and loungers was excellent. Although the room was perfectly clean the paintwork in the bathroom ceiling and one wall was peeling off. Also the double room was in fact a room with two single beds pushed together but this is often the case I've noticed with Spanish hostels/hotels.
The staff were helpful and the room quiet which is rare in Spain in August. There was a peaceful garden where guests could sunbathe and relax (in summer). The swimming pool has been divided up into small sections and the staff's children monopolised the only available swimming space. Better to head for the beach.
Junior suite room: excellent price/quality ratio; clean room; air- conditioning; small room fridge; large room and bathroom; very cool shower :-) hotel: strategic location in the middle of the island; good and cheap restaurant; small but nice pool with jacuzzi Nothing
A location in a beautiful area; a good place to explore the island by bike; a kindful, helpful and humourous staff - all this for a good price
The kindness of the lady at the reception. When I made the reservation I realized I chose the wrong location and I called immediately to ask to be so kind to cancel it without any penalty. I'm a Front Office Manager of an hotel in Italy and I know how it works. The Reservation Manager wasn't friendly on the phone and said to me that he coudn't cancell it. When I arrived at the hotel at 11.00 p.m., the lady at the front desk told me that my room was cancelled and I was charged for the 50% on my credit card. I find it very unfair and not professional. You can't cancell a room without informing the guest about that. Besides the front desk was closing and if I would have arrived 10 minutes later, I wouldn't have found anyone.Fortunately,at the end, I asked for another room and I got it.
Very clean. Basic but relaxed. Staff helpful Nothing to complain about. Got more than I expected from a 1star hostel
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They will stay late into the night for you if you are arriving late. My room was clean and cozy, and the pool and terrace were lovely. I had a great stay, and I recommend it highly. Great value too.
Excelent location. Very nice staff. Variety of food at dinner (diferent every evening). Great sea view, from the bedroom. The breakfast was not very good. Cofee machines broken, not much variety of food, and every day was the same. In the last morning some kinds of bread were already finished. The noise in the halls and corridors were horrible, sometimes until dawn. Between the hotel and the beach there was machinery (coolers, maybe) that makes very noise all night, even with the door closed. To use the minibar you have to pay a rent of 2,50€/day (ridiculous), plus the consumed drinks. The jacuzzi near the swimming pool wasn't working.
* The resort is set up at a beautiful beach, the view from the room was breath taking * the staff was very kind and helpful * Very Clean Hotel * Rooms cleaned every day * Very Good holiday Overall, Will Go Again!!! The walls in the rooms are very thin, could hear children crying.
Location, near bus stop. Balcony
Breakfast fabulous, hotel very clean and central location There wern't any
Stayed in apartment battached to hotel. Clean, but a little bare. 15 mins walk from harbour
I enjoyed the use of the spa facilities. The breakfast choice was excellent. We only stayed 1 night so did not make use of the restaurant. The only small thing was that the room smelt smokey when we first arrived, however I mentioned this and a maid came to spray it and this helped in freshening up the room.
Mostly Everything. Hot food at breakfast not very hot. No kettle in room for making tea or coffee
Staff were very helpful indeed and more than willing to provide local information. The spa facilities were also lovely, if a little small. The breakfast was a particular highlight with a huge range of food and quality each day.
Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Very nice simple pool and spa on the roof. The Telegraph bar is most pleasant.
Staying at Capri was very nice and we found the hotel staff to be very friendly and very helpful. We found the hotel and apartments very clean and well looked after. Overall a very pleasant stay and would return there without a doubt. Thank You.
Good location. Great breakfast The website said that there was a spa and a pool, but both were closed due to renovations during my stay.
pleasant staff It was too far to walk to the port in comfort and uphill to walk back-not good if you have back problems either as beds very hard. Noisy too, as road works in progress in the street below. If without car which we were no info about bus times etc
the staff - the food - the room - the hotel itself - 100% first class. i was in mahon to attend my brother in laws funeral staying at the barcalo made the unhappy event bearable. none
It was handy for completing business in Mahon. We stayed on half board and the food was not up to the standard my friend had previously experienced
We have stayed at The Hamilton in previous years, and their food and service has remained at a high level.
The location for us was very good, we like to walk to restaurants in the evening and the harbour was lovely. We did not like the fact that we had to move two days before the end of our holiday. The Hotel Capri, in Mahon was very nice but we would have prefered to be in a hotel situated more like the Hamilton
The hotel is in a great location in the Es Castel area. It is just a 5 minutes bus ride from the center of Mahon. The hotel was clean and we had a wonderful ocean and bay view after paying a small supplement. The bathroom size was adequate and the shower had good water pressure. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety of European foods. The hotel does not have ice machines. The air conditioning did not work very well -- it did not really cool the room down that much. The rooms, bathrooms, and hallways needed upgrading. We found some big beetle-type bugs running around in our room even though we were on the fourth floor. Finding parking near the hotel for a rental car was a challenge.
Close to lovely Es Castell. Great location and easy access to airport. Fantastic views across the port of Mahon.Enjoyed pool. Breakfast enjoyable Decor of hotel a little tired and threadbare. Not quite what I expected from Barcelo chain.
Food was very good & the staff are very freindly and helpful decor in the rooms where a bit tired looking
The staff were very pleasant and helpfull. I thought the food was very poor. The beds were very uncomfortable in the roon i stayed in.
Very pleasant stay but the room was very small and the shower and other facilities were a little tired.
Buffet, although little vegetables The first room they gave us was like a room in a low star hostel. We claim for another room and we had to stay in the same room 2 nights (we were only 5...). Moreover, the bathroom was not cleaned during our stay in the first room (towels in the same bad position we had left them, no shower gel for the second day). After that, they change us to a better quality room, in a fourth floor, sea sightseeing, bigger and better equiped.
location (near the beach); spa; sound isolation between the rooms needs to be improved; outdoor pool could benefit from being heated as of April/May
I liked everything: great location and food, quiet and nice views (and if you stay with sea view...) No
would not go back there price / service very poor
Good breakfast, convenient gym, pool area, friendly staff, which all contribute to a good, relaxing, healthy experience.
Nearness to beach and shops and resturants .The service and quality of food available at breakfast was very good.Rooms were cleaned every day Air conditioning was not operational even though it was quite warm at night.Staff at reception not very friendly or helpful on arrival and departure
Central, cleanliness of room Food wasnt up to very high standard, not in hotel nor in the area either, very basic and 'English' ie burgers, spaghetti, beans on toast or pizza everywhere!
Staff were helpful but not too over friendly.Lunch in the Pool restaurant was excellent all ingrediants fresh and cooked well. The Spa circuit was very good and the staff were helpful. No Car Parking. I arrived about Saturday 1 pm and there were no parking spaces anywhere as the Beach was packed with people. Could the Hotel have a few short stay spaces so then when the crowds have cleared you could then take the car awayand park somewhere else. I did just abandon the car on the Hotel forecourt as I had missed a nights sleep travelling and I could not go around the block again. They were kind and let me leave it there whilst I had a sleep!!
Beautiful sea view from our balcony. Our room appeared to have been recently and tastefully upgraded (seventh floor) and was a good size. Also, the hotel's proximity to the main beach and the cliff footpath for walking were welcome. Two evenings there was very loud music outside - but our balcony doors provided remarkable sound insulation and the aircon was good. There was a good selection at buffet breakfast, and the buffet evening meal which we sampled twice during our stay was also of a high standard and good value for money. It was helpful that the hotel offered us, without our request, a courtesy room to shower etc before we left on our last day because we had a late flight. We noted this room was much less attractive than our own. No criticism of hotel. The area is beautiful, busy but generally quiet, but there were not many good places to eat. For a short break this is perfect - if longer, you would definitely want transport to move around further.
The hotel is situated in a wonderful position and those at the front of the hotel enjoy some glorious views, although the higher you are the better. The spa & wellness centre is fantastic and incredible value for money if you take up their special offers! We booked a sea view room but those low down get obscured views. Once we asked the staff another room became available the following day. The cost of the computer in reception is ridiculous and very slow, plus the printer failed to work. What a waste of time and money.
The location is perfect for a restful holiday. There are plenty of sporting activities if you wish to use them. The pool and gardens are lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food in the hotel is probably the best in the resort. The hotel is clean. The only minor problem - and it has taken me ages to find something I didn't like - was the balcony. Your neighbour can see into your room if you forget to close the curtains.
Good standard, value for money I found the hotel hard to find and carparking a problem
I like the view to the harbour and water You had to walk a lot of stairs to reach the hotel
excellent breakfast. amazing views. lovely staff. a little bit of walking into town which some people could stuggle with.
The accommodations were good and the staff friendly and helpful
The location, the friendly staff, and the proffessional running of the hotel, especially the blond lady that was at breakfast The bedroom was a little cold, we where not able to work the heating
Very good! staf is very friendly!!! Trully recommend!
veiws of harbour beds and small room
Distance from Mahon Centre and tired decor in room
Very friendly and helpful staff, air-conditioning a boon, shady garden for sitting in heat of the day, wonderful position overlooking the harbour and watching the fire-works, gargantuan breakfast, try the pomada, easy walking distance to bus-station, old town and local squares where you can stroll in the evening with the townsfolk.
The tall male member of staff was very pleasant and helpful. The air conditioning in the room I was given did not work at all, and after a change of room the following day the main light did not work. I felt that both faults were obvious, which led me to form the impression that the hotel is not well-maintained. The female staff member to whom I complained about the faulty facilities made me feel very awkward - as a paying guest of the hotel I did not appreciate her attitude at all.
It was easy to find, cheap to stay, and had very thing I needed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included but wasn't good. Spent extra money to have a dinner at one of the nearby sister-hotels, and went through the pains of making a reservation and getting dressed up for it, but it was only a buffet with decent food. Located close to a few beaches, but the better ones were far away
There was nothing open only 6 people in the whole 120 room hotel no train as advertised no entertainment as advertised no poolside bar open the area is very very quite none of the 4 shops open ghost town
Perfect atmosphere for relax.
The staff friendliness above all and the extra activities (sports centre with mountain biking, diving, tennis, trekking, etc...) Accessibility (it's close to the airport, but is almost only accessible by car - poor bus service)
The location and the comfort. The quality of the food is good but not really excellent: I was expecting something more by a Sol Hotel.
The staff were very helpful and changed us to a room with view over pool and sea after we said we were dissappointed with the view we had.The food was excellent and great choice, watching the chef cooking was also quite entertaining. we also enjoyed some of the evening entertainment but would have liked some every night. I think the drinks from the bar were over priced so we made one last all the evening. The pool bar was not open during our stay but maybe that was because it was nearly end of season.
This was my first visit and I will be back. The hotel is perfect for a solo traveller who likes the beach and to walk with convenient meal times, excellent staff and facilities and centrally located. Thank you
Great location on beach. Small hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Almost totally adult guests when we were there. Food mostly OK, occasionally not hot enough. Towels very thin.
Good dinner. Friendly service. No wifi, no direct beach access.
The cleanliness and staff were first class Thank you. The food was fine but very much the same each day.Overall very good though.
Stayed there before - know the staffand the resort. We asked for a room with a view of the swimming pool and whilst no promises were given, we actually had a room that overlooked the refuse bins!!!
Excellent location and view from room, very clean, food fair to good, entertainment every evening except Sunday. The overall quality of the hotel suggests that this is not quite up to its four star rating. We stayed at El Fuerte hotel in Marbella for a week earlier this year which also claims four stars and it certainly had a superior feel.
The location was great. Important to have a car. All rooms with balconies. The view from our room was magnificent. The fact that we could smell smoke while sitting in our room. No separation between smoking rooms and nonsmoking.
Excellent location close to beach. Comfortable rooms.
The staff were friendly. The hotel has a magnificent view. The food was good. The pool was good. The publice areas are extensive and nice.
I think the location over looking the bay is probably its best asset together with a great swimming pool. The choice of food at the breakfast is excellent lots of fruits and juices and cooked dishes, as well as on demand omelette. The dinner buffet is excellent value for money. Also the staff are very nice especially Ester at the reception and the housekeeper respects your timing. The harbour is walking distance and best to see at night with all its lights and restaurants ie @Peter's Dinkums The acoustic from the rooms is the only little thing and also only BBC world in english and no french channels on the tv.
Its very old fashioned furniture wise.. Could really do with refurbishing..
excellent helpful staff breakfast excellent location breath taking he bathroom in need of updating
Convenient location, clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, good buffet breakfasts and dinners! Checking in and out took quite a while
The rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The spa was a little too dear. There was a wide choice of good quality food. The pool area was stylish, immaculate and spacious. The glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom could be a little "awkward" for friends when using the shower.
It's a modern hotel, with all of the commodities that we can expect from a 4* hotel. The rooms are pleasant and clean.
Location, at three minutes walking to Punta Prima beach, which is a great beach. Inside hotel area, everything is very spacefully, with a lot of green areas, trees, 4 swimming-pools, and things for all family.
We travelled with another couple and were put into ajoining rooms which was very convenient and made out stay more pleasurable
we have stayed at this hotel before (13 years ago) and have used the barcelo chain since, this hotel offers a wide range of facilities to cater for every age. an ideal family hotel very popular with other europeans not just british holiday makers.we will be returning.
I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel because it was relaxing, without too much disturbance from young people, particularly around the pool area. For a supposedly (applied for) 4 star hotel, the buffet food on every day of our 6 night stay was appalling.
The Staff were very helpfull and friendly. They were quick to move me after I complained about the location of my room. The rooms were very clean and modern. The room locations were badly planned as a lot of the rooms looked straight into another room with no view what so ever. I felt that I could not go out onto my balcony or leave the curtains open. I requested another room that was a lot quieter and looked out onto a field. The food was nice but not very hot.
We had a lovely room with a great view over the port. Only criticism, was the pool furniture was old and uncomfortable
The facilities were good and the position of the hotel was excellent We were not impressed by the self service restaurant although the food was reasonable if you were late to dinner it had been hanging around for a while. We would recommend bed and breakfast, rather than half or full board.
Nothing I did not like the very loud noise of the band. It spoils the beautiful look over the harbour at night. You could not talk with each other because of the music and you have to speak with a very loud voice to the waitress to place your order. the coffee machine was broken down and the machine who did work gave coffee drip by drip.
The view from the room fronting the port in the morning! The room service did not have all the menu items available, I had to change my order many times in order to finally get something I like.
Functional hotel in somewhat old fashioned style, located 10 minutes from the old city, nice views from some rooms over the harbour
Good location, good hotel, good room, good price! Not being able to get a meal 5 mins after the kitchen had closed.
We have stayed at the hotel on many occasions and you can always be assured of a warm reception. None. the buffet restaurant is also very good
Courtesy of all staff. Magnificent Mahon harbour view room. Buffet dinner at 15Euros good value No hot drink making facilities in room!!
We were given a free upgrade to a suite, which was to an excellent standard. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful No
Hotel was exactly as advertised. Room was well equiped clean and spacious. a big plus point for Menorca in October was that we were able to control our own heating.
Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Installations very clean and confortabñe. Excellent quality/price relationship. I recommend this hotel to go with the family
Room was spacious and the view was good of the pool and beach in the distance. Generally lovely place for the cost. Noisy children around the pool area
Really nice apartment, pool and gym. Close to beach and shops.
helpfull staff, good pool area with beds, nice bar and fast elevators. poor bedhead lighting to read and nothing to wash up with in kichen
A well appointed 1970`s hotel,a par of the S`Algar developement, built around mature tropical gardens.Room clean with effective aircon, buffet breakfast excellent choice and well prepared lasting pleasingly late(10.30).Rooms cleaned thoroughly daily.Pool immaculate & large. Service at pool bar dreadful.Buffet dinner not really worth eating.NB:S`Algar is 5kms from the nearest town San Lluis, and has 1 small supermarket and 2 restaurants,no sandy beach.I hired a car for 3 days out of 6 there.
Beautiful location, excellent facilities with very pleasant, relaxing environment within the hotel. Very good spacious room overlooking sea and air conditioning was very welcome. A very pleasant holiday.
Lovely setting peaceful quiet resort, I was on holiday on my own and felt safe and relaxed at all time. Hotel perfect for older people not really for families. Every thing about the S'Algar is good perhaps the chef needs to stop putting sauce on everything and stick to simple cooking.
The quietness and non-commercial aspect of of the location I do not believe that the Buffet Main Meat,Fish,Veg selection was of 4* quality; I am basing this judgement on constant use of 4* hotels when away from home both in UK and Abroad
We liked the tranquility. we enjoyed the pool and the garden around it. The room is spacious and quite good. Some of the furniture was a little bit dated.
calm and peaceful hotel, very close to the beach although car is needed to move in the area. Good breakfast buffet
lovely gardens and pool area, great food everything was great. No
Nice swimming pools, breakfast ok. Beds are a bit hard. Rooms can be noisy when you're on the ground level and your neighbours upstairs are wearing tacones lejanos.
Room was clean and comfortable, and lovely pool Breakfast was ok, not enough entertainment and staff were not helpful as receptionist came from Majorca!
Spacious apartment, quiet location.Pool and garden areas attractive and well tended. Large and varied breakfast buffet.Lots of info available on local attractions,Plentiful car parking. No
Large rooms, buffet was OK. Reasonable option if you have a car and don't mind driving 30 minutes to get anywhere and you are looking for a (very) quiet place. Far from beach, far from any restaurants or shops. Spa and gym are not very good: sauna switched off, ancient equipment... Most tourists are parents with kids, there is absolutely nothing to do near the hotel.
